Shikamaru suddenly slowed down. Neji whirled around. He ran back to where Shikamaru had stopped. " What is this?" asked Shikamaru. Neji walked over to stand at Shikamaru side. Shikamaru's breathing was ragged and he was tense. Neji gently grasped Shikamaru's arm. " Calm down. It's just chakra your feeling." said Neji. Neji dropped his arm. He wrapped an arm around Shikamaru's waist, tugging him into his side.
Neji breathing became audible. By doing this, he hoped Shikamaru's breathing would sync to his. It worked. Shikamaru slowly started to relax. His breathing slowly calmed down. " This is what you feel when multiple chakra signatures hit you. You'll learn over time how to tell who's is who's." said Neji.
" Is that what it feels like to you?" asked Shikamaru. Neji nodded. Shikamaru leaned heavily against Neji.
Shikamaru's heart rate gradually slowed down. " Alright?" asked Neji. Shikamaru nodded. "I hate to do this to you, but we have to catch up with them." said Neji. Shikamaru nodded and stepped away from Neji. With that, they took off, their paces in sync. It took them no less then five minutes to catch up with Gai, Hayate, and Hiashi. They once again, fell into step behind them.
They were less then ten away from the village, when Neji groaned. Shikamaru's eyebrows rose and he shot a questioning glance at Neji. He was surprised, when Neji fell back a good distance from the three in front of them. Shikamaru fell back as well. He noticed Neji's pace was reminiscent of a turtle. It was as if he was dragging his feet.
Neji waited to see if Shikamaru could tell. A second later, he too groaned. They then increased their pace and caught up with the three. When they came out of the tree line, Hiashi, Hayate, and Gai stopped in shock. Hiashi's Shikamaru's, and Gai masks slipped back into place quicker then a rock thrown through glass.
Standing in front of them were Asuma, Kakashi, Sasuke, and Kiba with Akamaru, by his side. Neji and Shikamaru shared a look. " Here we go." mumbled Neji. Under his breath. " Is there some reason your staring at us?" asked Hiashi. His tone was acidic.
" No, we were wondering where you were." said Kakashi. Sasuke was annoyed. He after all, hated Hyuuga. "Hayate, the Hokage needs you in her office." said Asuma. Hayate nodded and took off. Neji leaned towards Shikamaru and grabbed his neck. " Relax I need to block your signature." whispered Neji. There was a small almost minute flare of chakra from Neji. Shikamaru did the same. They simultaneously let their hands drop from the others neck.
" Let us go talk about the flames of youth, while we run!" screamed Gai. He then took off. Kakashi, Asuma, and Sasuke all groaned and fallowed him. Hiashi followed, but at a much slower pace. Shikamaru appeared on Hiashi's right and Neji on his left. " Does he always act like this?" asked Hiashi. " No, only when he's with some one." said Neji. " Hiashi, if we discuss any mission details I do not want Hayate there." said Shikamaru. " Why?" asked Hiashi. " Because, I doubt we will need him, but I don't want him getting close to you or Neji." said Shikamaru. Hiashi nodded.
" I agree. Though, I hate admitting it I'm not comfortable with him." said Hiashi. They stopped in front of the main Hyuuga compound. They walked in and sat down. Hiashi went through a set of hand signs and a wave of chakra flooded the room. " What was that just now?" asked Shikamaru. " He just activated the compound seals." said Neji. Shikamaru leaned over to whisper in Neji's ear as he was sitting next to Neji.
A.N. The paragraphs are going to be split in later chapters, do to the fact the story bumps them down to the next page. The story is currently 136 pages and counting. There will be talk of breaking in later chapters. That does not mean breaking the person or animals spirit. It just means calming their wild and insulting habits down.
