*So you already know that I'm back. That's quite obvious, I guess. I've decided I miss the drama of Noel Covington and Derek Venturi! Don't be surprised if one of them throws a punch…okay maybe not, I don't know. We all know I don't own Life with Derek, if I did Casey wouldn't have ended up with Truman. Stupid Truman…

Sam decided it would be a good idea to escort Derek back home. Mostly to try and talk him out of this plan. But also to give him some moral support while he dealt with the whole Casey/Noel situation.

"Derek, this is a bad plan." Sam nagged as they got out of the car.

"Yea, Yea." Derek grumbled. "We've already discussed this."

Sam looked up at the sky and raised his arms up. He sighed; this was going to be a long dinner.

Nora looked up from her seat on the couch as they walked through the door, "Sam, it's good to see you."

Sam smiled, "You too, Nora."

Casey came running down the stairs about then, "Sam?" She looked beautiful.

Sam smiled as he gave her a quick hug. He nodded at Noel as he came down to stand by Casey.

"Congrats." Sam said. Derek glared at him from behind them.

"Thank you, Sam." Casey said, looking pointedly at Derek. He held her gaze with as much determination as he could muster, then pushed past them purposefully ramming his shoulder into Noel. Noel turned to glare at him, but Derek ignored him and kept walking towards his room. Sam gave Casey and Noel an apologetic smile as he ran up after Derek.

"Derek, don't get too comfortable." George yelled up after his son. "We're all going out to dinner."

Sam accompanied them to dinner as well. He didn't feel like Derek should be alone with Noel for any length of time. Or Casey for that matter. Nora and George looked appreciative at his help. Derek had been sulking a lot recently and they were clueless when it came to Derek's feelings for Casey. Well maybe not clueless but strategically trying to avoid the topic.

Somehow despite Sam's presence, Derek had still ended up directly across from Casey. Sam tried to distract him, but Derek seemed content ignoring him. When the waitress came over, Derek made a point to flash her his best smile and flirt shamelessly. When Casey tried to order, Derek made whispered rude comments across the table that caused Edwin to choke on his water from laughter and Casey to glare furiously at her step brother.

Again despite Sam's protests, Derek made sure to monopolize the conversation so that no wedding talk could take place which had the added benefit of Casey glaring at him across the table. When the waitress delivered the food, Derek winked at her and asked when her break was. Sam put his head on the table. When Derek whispered an obscene comment to the waitress, Sam decided enough was enough and pulled Derek towards the bathrooms.

"Sam!" Derek whined.

"Derek, pull yourself together now." Sam tried to keep from yelling. "The only thing you are doing is making yourself look like a fool and embarrassing the rest of us."

Derek smirked. "I'm also making Casey insanely jealous."

Sam closed his eyes, "Insane, maybe. Jealous, no."

Derek glared at him. Sam pulled Derek over to look at the table, "Look, D."

Casey and Noel were holding hands under the table. Their intertwined fingers resting on Casey's leg. Derek groaned and leaned back against the wall. "I hate him."

Sam set his jaw and shook his head. Derek watched as Sam returned to the table apologizing for Derek's behavior to Noel's mother. Derek nodded to himself and headed back to the table. He tried to be good for the rest of the dinner, honest. When he went to leave though, he saw lean in to kiss Casey and the world was spinning again. So when the waitress tried to give him her number discretely, Derek pulled her to him and kissed her in front of the whole restaurant.

Sam tried not to laugh as they left the restaurant. Trying to understand what he had done in a past life to deserve such a best friend.

*Okay so please forgive me if they were too OOC. It's been a long time since I've written fanfiction or even watch Life With Derek. I'm trying I promise. I just hope that some of you will come back and read it. That I didn't lose all of you. Review please!
