Title: Seducing Cupid
Rating: M
Pairing: Shizuo x Izaya,
Warnings: Male x Male Relationships, Smut
Description: He sees it every single day; people falling in love. It was just another day in the life of the new Cupid, Izaya Orihara. You would think he would know what falling in love looks like, but that wasn't the case when it was his love life. Shizaya. AU.
"This makes the third night in a row." Shizuo thought to himself as he added ingredients into a silver mixing cup. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the man that had come in here the one night with wings on. Normally, Shizuo wouldn't notice or pay attention to the regular customers that came in since there were several regulars. However, this guy was different than any other of the guests. First, he had come in at the same time every night. Second, he always sat in the same spot and ordered only 'water' which struck the blonde as odd, but not as odd as the third thing that he noticed.
The man watched him.
He didn't notice it until one of his coworkers pointed it out. At first, Shizuo was flattered. The man was extremely attractive, but after a few hours, it just got creepy. As a bartender, the blonde was used to being watched by the patrons and being hit on. However, the man looked at him in an odd way that almost seemed stalkerish rather than enamored. He didn't look at him like he was mentally undressing him, as odd as it sounded, it felt like he was looking into his soul or something. Like the man could hear every single thought that he was having.
Caramel eyes wandered to the clock. He couldn't wait to get the hell out of there and away from that freak. A smile of relief graced his lips as he saw the clock strike eleven. He finished pouring the contents he had shaken into a martini glass and set it in front of the girl that ordered it. Quickly, he cleaned the cup out and set it up to dry. Shizuo glanced back to see if the mysterious man was still watching him. His heart stopped for a moment when their eyes met. The blood red eyes of the man both drew him in. A foreign emotion right through his body as he felt himself catch his breath. Everything around him seemed to slow down as the two looked at each other. It was an odd sort of connection that Shizuo couldn't quite explain. The two males were taken to another world in that brief moment where it was only the two of them. The blonde felt a cold sweat run down his neck before tearing his eyes away from the other male's.
"Kadota," Shizuo said while trying to maintain a calm composure, "I'm out." Kadota looked over at his co-worker and waved slightly. The blonde bartender made sure to walk out of the bar on the opposite side of where his stalker was sitting. He quickly made his way through the crowd towards the employee only section. This was the first time in his life that the tall male was thankful for the amount of people that came to the club. A sigh of relief was let out when fingers wrapped around cold metal. Shizuo pushed open the door and quickly closed it. Once behind the door, he let out another sigh.
"Calm down, Shizuo." He said to himself. "You're acting like a fucking girl." The bartender stood there for a moment before continuing his way down the hall towards the back exit. Employees normally never exited this way because it exited out into a dark, sketchy alleyway. However, he'd rather chance the dark than that freak follow him out the front entrance.
The cold, night air against his skin was somehow relaxing to him. His heart beat slowed down to a much normal pace and his paranoia settled down to a normal level. This wasn't like him. In fact, Shizuo was a man that was very much feared. He could never remember being scared in his life. Most children are scared of the dark and monsters when they were younger, but Shizuo never was. However, when his caramel eyes locked onto those deep, scarlet colored ones, every sense in his body said 'danger! Flee!'
The tall man slipped his hand into his pocket and fished out box of cigarettes. One of the white sticks was pulled out and placed between the man's dry lips. The end of the nicotine filled stick was lit and the contents inside were quickly sucked up. Shizuo held the smoke in for a moment before blowing it out, letting it dissipate into the frigid air. After a few more puffs, the smoking man decided to make his way home.
Shizuo only walked a few feet before his ears picked up on the sound of foot steps behind him. He stopped where he stood. Turning his head ever so slightly to look back, he saw black feathers. Immediately he knew it was his stalker since he was the only one he ever saw wear something like that in public. His blood ran cold when he saw those red eyes. Every instinct in his body told him to run. However, being the stubborn male he was, he refused to listen and turned to face his stalker.
"Who the fuck are you and why the hell are you following me?" The man's eyes widened.
"You can see me?" Shizuo threw his cigarette on the ground and stomped it out.
"Of course I can see you! I'm not blind ya know!" The man remained silent, causing an anger to boil in Shizuo. This whole game that they had started was ridiculous. "What's your name?" The blonde asked.
"You shouldn't be able to see me," was all he said. Shizuo clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"You're pissing me off. Look, I don't know who you are or why you are following me but you should just get lost." The stalkers eyes narrowed slightly. He took a step forward causing the blonde to take a step back.
"You don't understand. This whole thing is just as confusing to me as it is to you." Shizuo officially deemed this man mentally unstable at this point. The man's head dropped down for a moment before perking up and looking directly at the other. "Listen, Shizuo-,"
"HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME?!" The blonde yelled. The dark haired male just scuffed and stuck his hands into his pockets.
"I know a great deal of things; things that you would never be able to wrap your mind around. That's why this whole situation is confusing to me. My only conclusion is that we are somehow connected by fate. I'm not quite sure how or why though…"
"Yup, definitely insane." The bartender thought to himself as he turned to leave. "I'm out of here." He announced as he started back towards the opening of the alleyway. "Don't follow me," the blonde said, and was surprised when the other obeyed and just stood there. He was relieved when he finally made it into the crowded side walk. Fingers began to rub his temples, trying to soothe the now annoying throb in his head.
Izaya stood there, dumbfounded. So many questions ran through his head but no answers where coming. At first he thought that maybe Shizuo was some sort of other supernatural being, but, after a few days of observing him, the angel deemed him to be nothing more than a normal human being. Next he thought that maybe the man seeing him was some sort of accidental fluke but that didn't seem to be the case either. When their eyes met, a rush of a foreign emotion ran through him that he had never experienced before in all his years of living. He had observed and made eye contact with hundreds of human beings. Izaya sighed deeply and began to walk out of the alley as well, making sure to head in the opposite direction of Shizuo so he didn't appear to be stalking him.
"Looks like there is no way around it, I will have to go see Shinra. Hopefully he will have some answers for me."
