Description: He sees it every single day; people falling in love. It was just another day in the life of the new Cupid, Izaya Orihara. You would think he would know what falling in love looks like, but that wasn't the case when it was his love life. Shizaya. AU.

He was burning. He wasn't sure how, or what exactly what was burning him but that was the least of his worries. His body was quite literally on fire. The former angel opened his eyes but was greeted with nothing but utter darkness. Lips parted to let out a pained cry, but nothing came out. He tried to move his move his limbs but they refused to move. He felt utterly paralyzed but could still feel each and every nerve in his body be stimulated to the max.

His eyes began to water but the scorching heat dried up his tears before they could even run down his hot face. The moment his crimson orbs were covered behind eyelids, a rush of the most terrifying figures that he had ever seen implanted their face into his mind. A vision of himself being tortured by said demons then emerged. His four limbs were tied with ropes and the creatures grabbed them and began to pull in opposite directions…

"FLEA!" Izaya wake with a startle at the loud noise of his new name met his ear drums. His body reacted immediately to instantly sit up. Cold sweat was running down his forehead. The raven blinked a few times before reality began to set in. Looking up, he saw the blonde man that had taken him in looking at him with a worried expression. "Are you okay? You were screaming and stuff…" Izaya's brought his wrists up to face to inspect for any burn marks or rope burns. A relieved sigh escaped his lips when he found none.

"Yeah… Just a nightmare. Sorry." Shizuo continued to look at the male for a few more moments. Once he found no more signs of distress, he nodded.

"Okay…well I am really exhausted so I am going to go to bed." Izaya nodded, not knowing exactly what to say. His mind was too consumed with thoughts on what he had just experienced to really mind to it. Shizuo lingered for a few more moments before his body began to scream at him, demanding sleep. He turned to walk back to his room. Placing a hand on the door frame, he looked back at the raven haired male.

"You sure you're okay?" Izaya nodded once again. The blonde turned to enter his room.

"It's Izaya." Came the soft voice of the fallen angel. It was quiet, but it was loud enough for the bartender to hear.

"What was that?" He asked, returning to the door frame and looking over at his new house guest. Izaya was quiet for a moment before replying.

"My name; it's Izaya." Shizuo smiled at the revelation of his mystery guest's name.

"Well….good night Izaya." Once again, Shizuo disappeared from his doorway entrance and went to the comfort of his own bed.

Izaya laid back down, but he wouldn't dare himself to go back to sleep. The nightmare he just witnessed still lingered in his mind. Hands subconsciously came up to rub on his arms. He stared up at the dark ceiling for what felt like hours. Never, in his years of living had he experienced anything like that. It seemed much too real to simply be something made up by his subconscious.

The sound of shuffling and banging caused Shizuo to begin to stir. After a few more bangs, he kicked his covers back in annoyance. Looking over at the alarm clock next to his bed, he inwardly cursed at the early morning wake up. His feet hit the floor with a slight bang. Annoyance and anger was raging through him. Would it kill that guy to just shut the hell up?

The door swung open with a forceful pull. Shizuo's lips parted, ready to curse his noisy house guest out, however, he was shocked to see the man lying on the floor.

"What the hell are you doing?" Izaya was quiet for a moment as all movement ceased. After a few minutes of prideful silence, the fallen angel bit his lip before letting out a sigh.

"Trying to get up." The sleep fog on Shizuo's mind didn't seem to process why exactly the smaller male was having such a difficult time getting up. He stood there staring for a moment before the red stains on the raven's shirt brought back the memory of why his house guest had such limited movement. Shizuo walked over to the injured man and wrapped his arm underneath his stomach before slowly lifting him up.

"You really shouldn't be moving. Your back is all messed up." As much as Izaya didn't want to accept the help, he retreated and accepted the assistance. Neither male said anything as the bartender helped the smaller onto the couch. Shizuo gently laid Izaya back onto the couch. It was only when he was sure that the other was stable that he pulled away.

"What were you even trying to do?"

"Move of course genius~" Shizuo felt a vein pulse in annoyance at the sarcastic anger. Izaya seemed to find it funny and chuckled at the involuntary reaction. The taunting noise only made the blonde's blood pressure rise more. He turned to walk into the kitchen and grabbed his pack of cigarettes and a lighter.

"I have a feeling that you are going to make me go through my packs of cigarettes than normal." Shizuo made his way back into his living room and plopped down lazily on the couch. He tapped the pack of cigarettes before pulling one out and placing it between his lips. The lighter was brought up to the tip and rolled to ignite the nicotine filled drug. A deep in hale was taken and held in before let out. Izaya watched the blonde intently as he smoked the cigarette.

"Smoking isn't good for you."

"No shit genius." Izaya smirked at the reaction before crossing his arms.

"How rude, I was just looking out for you~" Shizuo took another drag and blew it in the direction of his guest. The fallen angel fanned the smoke away from him as his facial expression twisted in disgust.

"Gross."

"No one asked your opinion." The two men sat there in uncomfortable silence for what felt like hours. The awkwardness was eating away at the angel and he soon decided to break it.

"I was trying to go to the library." Shizuo turned to look at the other and pulled the cigarette away from his chapped lips.

"Library?"

"Yeah, you know the place with books." It took everything in the bartender to stop from punching the injured man. However, that fact kept him from doing it. He would never hit a man that was injured.

"You are an asshole you know that." The nicotine laced stick was placed between his lips once again. "Why did you wanna go there?" Izaya hesitated. He was mulling over if he should tell the blonde his plans or not. The former cupid had extreme trust issues. His moto was to never trust anyone and assume that everyone is out to betray you. That was the only way he knew how to make it through life. However, he found it hard to stand by that when Shizuo did nothing but offer him help.

"I was looking for some books on angels and mythical beings." The raven said after a moment of going back and forth between keeping it to himself or disclosing the information. In his current condition, he really needed help, as much as his pride tried to argue that.

"Angels and mythical beings?" Shizuo asked with a cocked eyebrow. The only answer he received was a simple nod. "Well, you ain't goin' anywhere in that condition." Izaya let out a small pout. His mind tried to come up with some sort of witty come back before he was cut off. "I will get them for you." Crimson eyes widened slightly.

"You will?" Izaya asked in slight shock. The blonde nodded before taking the cigarette out of his mouth and studding it out. As he leaned over he looked over at the smaller male.

"On one condition. You have to tell me what the hell is going on." The look in the caramel eyes that stared at him was so serious it made the former cupid uncomfortable. He chuckled nervously to try and lighten the mood.

"Can't I just give you my soul or something?" Izaya asked sarcastically. When Shizuo did nothing back stare back at him, serious look never leaving his face, the fallen angel sighed.

"Fine."

For the past day and a half, Shizuo was feeling very out of character. His heart felt weird. It wasn't a feeling that he could quite describe. The blonde was a loner. He was his entire life. The only one he ever let in was his brother but even that was with an arm distance away. It was very out of character for him to talk to anyone let alone allow them to stay in his home.

However, ever since he met Izaya, he got this weird feeling. It felt like an uncomfortable tightening, but it wasn't painful. His breath seemed to stop ever so suddenly and words just flowed from his mouth before he could even comprehend the thought. It felt like something was possessing his body and he wasn't sure if he liked it or not.

The tall bartender made his way to Ikebkuro's library and immediately walked up to the front desk. The girl sitting at it looked up at him through her glasses the had slid down to the bridge of her nose.

"Do you have any books on angels and…mythical beings?" The woman just stared at him which made the blonde feel uncomfortable. He had never set foot in a library so he had no clue how anything worked or how anything was organized. The librarian sighed before rolling over to the computer.

"I will pull up a list for you and put aisle numbers. Do you have anything specific you were looking for?" Shizuo shook his head.

"Not really." The woman typed in a few things on the computer while the tall man stood there awkwardly. A few minutes passed before a sheet of paper was placed in front of him. Caramel eyes widened slightly at the amount of title of books on the sheet.

"Thanks…" The man said before walking towards the rows of books. Shizuo went through each aisle and carefully looked for each of the books on the list. He wasn't exactly sure what Izaya had needed so he just figured to get everything. By the end of it, the blonde had a stack of books that would be too heavy for the average person to carry. The man walked back to the woman at the front desk and dropped the stack of books on it. The librarian's eyes widened as he looked over the stack of books before settling on Shizuo's.

"I would like to check these out."
