Disclaimer: I know this is a relatively short update for a long period of time, but I'm working on this story. I spilt this chapter into two parts instead of one long chapter, one of the reasons being that it would take longer to get an update. Also, writers block. So expect more. Thanks and Please Review.

Nina walked slowly and carefully through each corridor. She couldn't help it; she only felt failure and defeat. The whole string of events, it just was frustrating to comprehend.

Nina thought back to when she collapsed in Neo's room, head split open and she woke up in a bed for once. All of that was nothing now.

She stopped and put her head against the cold wall. I risked my very existence crossing over for someone who – her thoughts were cut short by footsteps echoing behind her.

Nina whipped around and saw Dozer carrying a box of acupuncture needles and a tiny tin. He didn't say anything, and they kind of stayed that way. When Nina opened her mouth to ask what he was doing Dozer interrupted by saying, "You lost?"

"Yeah." Nina answered looking at her worn shoes. "I'm looking for Neo. Do you know where they took him?"

"Just heading over there now. I'll show you around. Come on." Dozer responded.

He was being pretty nice to someone he's never met before. Nina felt confused. Nobody was relatively friendly when they first see her. But she still followed him without question.

It was only a short walk down the same hall, just a few doors down from where Nina had stopped. Dozer pushed open a creaky metal door with a faded caduceus printed bellow a miniscule window that provided little visibility into the room.

Nina slowly trudged into the room after Dozer hurried over to a bedside table with several plastic tupperware containers full of blood, water, and more needles. Bits of his dreadlocks floated around and some got caught on the needles.

But in the center of the room was a steel table littered with wires connected to a computer. Lying on top of the table was Neo. His body was covered up to his neck in a cloudy plastic material, the type you see when someone dies in a hospital. She took two steps closer, just enough that she would be able to reach out and riffle what little stubble was on his head. But her hands stayed at her side.

She felt uncomfortable. Nina didn't like seeing him like this. Even though the heart rate monitor continued to beat, it still felt like she was looking at a corpse.

As if sensing her awkwardness, Neo shifted slightly in hi sleep, turning his head away from her.

Inching closer, she finally stood looking down upon his face. Feeling again the feeling of viewing death, she was motivated to say a few words as if at a funeral.

"Hey Neo. I hope you remember me from the Matrix. Even Morpheus doesn't know how this is going to go down." She kept going, keeping her voice low so Dozer couldn't make it out. Without realizing, Neo's eyes open just a crack during Nina's speech. All he heard was "Gosh, I hope you remember me."

He quickly slipped back to sleep, and Nina rapped up her rant.

Pushing on the table with her hands, she turned to leave the medical bay, the only notification being, "Thanks for showing me this place."

She tried to hide her readiness to escape the room as she pulled open the door, only to slam it shut with a loud creak on the other side.

Taking a deep breath, Nina calmly walked to her room to get some solitude.
