Let me be honest, I had some writers block for a while. It was back in New Orleans I have having some issues with, but now I know how Hayley is acting ((I had her on the right track)), how Davina is harboring Mikael. Some things I forgot but now I remember! Haha.

Anyway, thank you for all the reviews and favorites and follows. It means the world and I hope this next chapter makes it as strongly as the others.

Chapter Three

Dear Zoey, Caitlynn, or Angela. To my little girl,

Your dad just asked if this was a love letter, I guess it kind of is. I never got to know my mother. I have no idea what she must have felt when she carried me, so I thought I'd write to you, so that you could know how happy I am at this very moment. How much your father and I can't wait to meet you, and I want to make you a promise. Three things that you will have that I never did. Someone to tell you they love you every single day, and someone to fight for you no matter what. In other words, a family. So there you go baby girl. The rest we're gonna have to figure out together.

I love you,

Your Mom.

For the first time, the little chocolate haired hybrid was silent as she read the letter over and over again. Silent tears made their way down her ivory skin as the words Your Mom reverberated in her small head. Avery had given Hope the letter her mother wrote to her before going into labor, before the witches tried to sacrifice the infant hybrid for power. For Esther.

When Avery first explained the history of witches and vampires, she slowly explained the history of the Mikaelson's. Hope had been fascinated by magic, but slowly she turned fearful of it. She learned of how her family was vampires, and how they were turned. She learned of Mikael, who tried and wanted to kill Klaus, her father- but Klaus won in the end. Then about Esther and how she wanted to end her children's immortality. Then Avery explained Hayley, how she grew up without her mother or father and grew up in a world of war and loneliness. Until she meet a wolf named Tyler.

It went on by explaining the complicated past of the Mikaelson's, about their pasts in Mystic Falls and the residents there. Avery though didn't get into the doppelganger mess or anything that would cause Hope to be fearful of her father. Just the parts with Esther and Mikael. Then how her mother and father meet and separated, not wanting to explain what a one night stand was to a seven year old. She was too young to know what sex was, but she understood that it was what people in love did. The only problem Hope wouldn't understand was that her mother loved her uncle and her father was just merely a friend.

"Why can't we go home?" Hope asked, finally looking away from the letter, holding it carefully as if it were a valuable treasure.

"Your grandparents were resurrected. They, sadly, are still on their vengeful ways." Avery explained. "The witches there also want to hurt you, and if the humans found out about you- you weren't going to be safe there. So they had your Auntie Beks take you into hiding until it was safe to go home."

Hope looked at the floor with a sad expression, "It isn't safe yet, is it?"

"No, Hope. It isn't." Avery shook her head. "We won't know how long it will take, but your parents are fighting so hard to get you home. They want you safe."

Hope said nothing, only because the seven year old couldn't come up with another question. Before, Hope had so many questions about her parents, about her home but now that she knew the truth, Hope lost all those questions. They wouldn't have been valid, only because when Hope envisioned her home- she imagined a two story house. Her room was pink, with pictures on the walls and boxes full of toys in one corner. She had a pink bed as well, will a net canopy overhead. Her parents were madly in love, and they were a perfect little family. Somehow now, Hope discarded that idea, and tried to envision a new home, but she could come up with nothing.

"Hope, please say something." Avery whispered, looking into the tearful eyes of Hope.

Hope though, remained silent and shook her head. She didn't want to learn magic; she didn't want to accept this for some reason. She wasn't human, but everything so far that she's known hadn't been real. Even if she was only seven, Hope understood that being lied to your whole life, that everything you know wasn't true, she knew it was bad. What was even worse, Hope was questioning who she was now.

Avery sighed and stood up. Maybe telling Hope hadn't been a good idea after all, but Hope needed to know the truth. Hope needed to know that she wasn't safe, but Avery wanted Hope to know she could trust her Aunt and herself. Though now, Avery wasn't sure what the hybrid child was thinking, because just like her father- Hope could be unpredictable.

"Attention passengers, we have now arrived at our destination, Mexico City. Please make way to the exits and collect your belongings."

Avery closed her eyes for a second, taking in a deep breath before she opened her emerald eyes and grabbed the two bags that belonged to herself and Hope. "Come along Hope." Avery called; walking towards one of the trains exists, Hope silently trailing behind. In her pocket, Hope held the letter with care, but then released the letter and reached for Avery's hand as the crowd of people around them got bigger. The last this Hope wanted was to get separated from Avery.

Soon enough the witch and hybrid child were on the streets of Mexico City, and Hope was distracted by how tall the buildings were. It was nearly sunset, and the lights of the city begun to illuminate the sky- fascinating Hope. There was a mix of different colors, and Hope found herself craning her neck to look at the signs around the streets as Avery pulled her along as they walked. Hope had no idea where it was they were going, but she didn't ask.

After a half hour walk, since Avery refused to get a taxi that would try to charge too much, they came to a halt in front of a tall building. It was still in the city, and it was an apartment complex. Rebekah had given Avery directions for this exact location and slipped a pair of keys into the witch's pocket. Now retrieving those keys from her pocket, Avery walked with Hope inside and into the elevator.

"Can I press the button?" Hope asked as they stepped into the elevator.

Avery nodded, "Sixth floor."

Hope grinned, pressing the button to the sixth floor down, causing the number to light up. Then they were moving upward to the designated sixth floor. From the elevator, Hope and Avery stood together watching the lights of Mexico City from the elevator's window until they came to a stood. Avery looked at the number on the key, hoping to find the right apartment.

"Hope, keep your eye out for room 415." Avery told Hope, looking for the room number on the walls. Surprisingly it didn't take very long for the duo to find the room, only to find a blond woman in front of the door, knocking. Narrowing her eyes, Avery pushed Hope behind her in a protective matter. "Can I help you?"

The blond looked over at the witch and hybrid, slightly surprised. Avery wondered why, but then the blond glanced at Hope, who was looking curiously at the blond woman, which caused Avery to tense up. Hope smiled, not seeing the potential danger and the blond woman had to keep looking. Fascinated by how much Hope looked like Hayley and Klaus, a perfect mixture.

"Actually you can. I'm Cami, a friend of Klaus and Hayley- who want their daughter back at home."

Avery tensed, her eyes narrowing into slits at Cami, "Somehow I don't believe you."

Cami sighed, she really did not want to talk to this witch or any other witch for that matter- but she had too. In order to help Klaus, she had to retrieve his daughter. Sure she was close with Marcel, but a part was loyal to Klaus. Cami remembered Klaus's face clearly the night his precious daughter was born and then lost. The pain and heartbreak, how vulnerable he was in that very moment when he realized what exactly it was he lost, she saw the same emotions in Hayley that night at the alter for the lost. They both realized they hadn't lost their daughter to death, but to danger. They had Hope shipped off with Rebekah for her protection. Hayley and Klaus realized they'd miss out of Hope's life; they'd been cheated of their daughter.

"Can't you do a spell? I know for a fact that you witches know how to do spells." Cami said a little harshly.

Avery's lips pulled into a smirk, "A little bit sour when it comes to witches, Rebekah was right about that part."

Cami's eyebrows furrowed, "What are you talking about?"

Avery looked down at Hope, "That's your father's friend- Cami." Avery glanced back at Cami. "I know who you are; in that short time I did a truth spell. I have to be careful; anyone could claim to be anyone to take Hope."

"You believe me?" Cami inquired, annoyed.

Avery rolled her eyes, "Listen here Cami, I understand why you resent us witches, your uncle was hexed- and for that I am so sorry about your loss. The thing you need to understand is that I am not here to play mind games, Rebekah told me about everyone and everything- I am here to protect Hope with my life."

"I don't understand why you believe that you need to protect Hope with your life. You're young, what connection do you have to Hope?"

Avery smiled down at Hope and shakes her head, "It's a secret, but if her father and mother are calling for Hope to return home, then we ought to get going. How about that Hope, you ready to get going?"

Hope perked up, racing from behind Avery's legs and up to Cami when it became clear that there were no dangers here. The blonde smiled slightly when Hope pulled on her jeans, looking up with so much curiosity burning in her brown eyes. Cami couldn't resist the pull to pick Hope up and hold her, and for a second she felt guilty. Hayley hadn't even held her own daughter yet, but here Cami was cradling the eight year old.

"Will you tell me stories of my mama and daddy?" Hope questioned.

Cami nodded, "And you Uncle Elijah."

"And Marcel?"

Cami laughed, "Of course."

―――

Rebekah rolled her eyes, unamused by Tyler's antics. The duo ended up at some ran down tavern on the outskirts of Nebraska. Tyler had gotten clothing from a man that he'd compelled. It was easy to compelled people now, since no one on the outside world of Mystic Falls ingested vervain. Rebekah was still weary on Tyler's ambitions, but she wasn't about to get side tracked. Right now she had to pinpoint exactly what Tyler was seeking out of this whole ordeal.

"So tell me the latest dilemma in Mystic Falls." Rebekah drags out, nursing a glass of vodka. "Has Miss Elena picked a Salvatore yet?"

Tyler shrugged, "Last I heard was that she was sired to Damon and with him. Can't really keep up with who she's dating weekly."

Rebekah chuckled. "She's more like Katherine than she gives herself credit for. Besides Elena and her petty issues, what else has been going on? Rumor has it your little witch, Bonnie, is dead."

Tyler sighed as he looked Rebekah in the eyes, "Listen Rebekah, I don't have much information about Mystic Falls or anyone inside of it. All I know is that everyone is living their lives after the other side fell. Elena and Caroline are in college, Matt is working and Jeremy lives with the Salvatore's."

"I've only heard rumors of the Other Side." Rebekah says, titling her head slightly to the side in curiosity. "So ease my curiosity and tell me about what the Other Side was exactly."

Tyler wasn't use to this version of Rebekah, the one that was actually civilized and not bad company- compared to when she was trying to wreak havoc in Mystic Falls. Rebekah was an admirable woman, in a certain way. It amazed Tyler how much Rebekah put on the line for Hope, having to constantly be on edge of a witch or someone finding her niece. She wasn't the same Rebekah who sometimes acted recklessly, because now the vampire had a responsibility besides herself. Her niece.

"The Other Side exists alright, but from what I heard, it all apparently went to hell. At first it was a limbo state for the supernatural, but it's going down. Now the dead can interact with the world of the living." Tyler explained as best he could since he didn't stick around long enough to get the details.

Realization hit Rebekah like a semi-truck crashing into a wall at full force, everything suddenly seeming to snap into place. It all made sense, how her father, Mikael, was able to terrorize Klaus and Elijah- even Hayley, from beyond the grave. Or how Ester was able to control the witches in her state of death, and it all led back to Elena Gilbert somehow. It pissed Rebekah off that even away from Mystic Falls and the horrid doppelgänger, they still couldn't escape the problem that arise in Elena's wake. They always ended up paying some type of consequence. This also brought new questions about Tyler, what his real purpose was being here.

"Why are you so interested in helping us? You and I both know that the moment you step foot in New Orleans, Klaus will try to rip your heart out of your chest." Rebekah idly says, watching Tyler with carefully eyes.

It was true that Rebekah honestly believed both that, one, Klaus would kill Tyler on the spot and two, Tyler was here for more reasons that he was letting on. He wasn't just here for Hayley, he couldn't just randomly wake up and feel like showing up out of the blue. Especially around Hope. Though, given through bitter history with one other, that the rivalry happened due to the sire bond and Caroline Forbes. Jealousy was a musty thing, but Rebekah knew that it was different this time. This time it wasn't for some girl, it was for Klaus's daughter, something that Klaus happened to be very protective of. It gave Rebekah a good laugh imagining Klaus's reaction to this whole situation.

"Like I said, I owe Hayley for everything she did for me and the things I did to her and regret. Hope means the world to her, even before she was born."

Rebekah suddenly narrowed her eyes at Tyler accusingly, "I can tell you that you're lying to me. That isn't just the reason why you're actually here is it? Not just for Hayley."

The original vampire watched the hybrid shift in Claire Conway felt useless sitting on the patch of grass at the tombstone that seemed to be mocking her. Two hours have passed since the priest lowered her mother down into the six foot grave. Two hours since Claire said her final goodbye but yet her tears haven't died up.

his heartbeat was a little faster than it had been a few seconds ago. It only made Rebekah wonder even more about Tyler's motives, what his hidden agenda really was. Some part of her didn't think Tyler would really tell her, but as he scratches his ear and lets out a nervous chuckle, Tyler actually answers, "Well you see, it's a werewolf thing."

"What's a werewolf thing?" Rebekah asked defensively. She was starting to get a sense of déjà vu from a horrid movie she recently seen with Hope, Breaking Dawn Part Two.

Tyler thought about his words carefully, "It's rare to werewolves to ever feel a need to protect one individual, but when they do- it's a like a pull of sorts. The pull happened a few months ago, and I followed it to you, to Hope. I felt the first pull when Hayley was pregnant."

"A mate." Rebekah realized with wide eyes, oh Klaus was in for a huge surprise.

Tyler gave a brief nod, "I just want to protect Hope. I want to be there and kill those who want to harm her."

There was something feral in Tyler's brown eyes at the mention of Hope getting hurt, a look that mirrored Rebekah and her family got when someone they loved and cared about was in danger. Rebekah believed Tyler's words right then and there, and it was then the hybrid that sat across from her, won over Rebekah's trust.

"I believe you." Rebekah voiced, a smirk curving onto her lips. "I can't wait for the conversation when we tell Klaus this little development. His baby girl being your mate- dear God have mercy on your poor unfortunate soul."

Tyler growled, "Shut your face."

"Shut your muzzle." Rebekah chuckled, standing up. "Now shall we go retrieve Hope and my friend Avery from New Mexico?"

Tyler follows Rebekah's movements, "What are we waiting for blonde? Let's get going."

Because you know
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble

Rebekah's phone went off, causing Tyler to raise an eyebrow at Rebekah questioning her song choice. Rebekah rolled her eyes and mouth Avery and Hope before pulling out her phone from her pocket. Seeing Avery's name on the caller I.D caused dread to go through Rebekah's body. What if something to Hope? Or to Avery? What if they were found? What would Rebekah have to tell Klaus and Hayley?

"Avery?"

"Rebekah." Avery's voice answered on the other end. "There is a woman here- Cami, I believe. She claims that Klaus and Hayley want Hope back home."

A smile stretches its way across Rebekah's lips. Out of all people her brother could have sent to retrieve Hope, she didn't expect Cami, but still- she served the same purpose. No one would suspect a human to retrieve a hybrid child. "It's time to go home then Avery."

"Are you sure? Once we make that move, there is no going back Rebekah. Are you positive that it's time for Hope to go back to New Orleans?" Avery's voice was condescending, unsure.

"If my brother and Hayley are sending for Hope, then Avery it's time. We've waited a long time for this, to take Hope back into the comfort of her home and her parents." Rebekah said, slowly becoming agitated with the witch on the other line. "It's safer for Hope now."

Avery sighed from the other line in defeat, "One last thing- I told Hope the truth.

Rebekah raised an eyebrow up in question at Tyler, who just shrugged in response, "Told her what exactly?"

"The truth. Remember, she isn't just your niece." With that, Avery hung up on Rebekah.

"Bloody hell." Rebekah growled, holding her phone so tight that it was a surprise it didn't crush into pieces.

Tyler turned his curious gaze onto Rebekah's phone in her hand, "What was that all about?"

"Change of plans Tyler, we are going directly to New Orleans to meet Hope and Avery- who are bringing back Cami the human." Rebekah answers, briskly walking out of the tavern and into the night with Tyler in tow as she texted her elder brother with the latest news.

Okay this chapter isn't the longest of most, but the next upcoming chapters are going to be long than this, mainly because we have a little family reunion up ahead, and who's excited for that? Now at this point and time, I will be following the plot line, but with twist and turns.

I'm really sorry that I haven't updated in a while, and it's going to take some time with the next chapter with school and everything going on for me, but I will get the chapter up! I promise!

So please leave a review and tell me what you thought of this chapter and check out my other stories of the Originals.
