Lay me to rest A pawn in this sick game of chess The General's twisted play A Shakespearean tragedy, just minus the fay But think of me no less

As the candle flickers My life flickers by quicker Wondering what I might have become For it is in the ground I will forever lie

Lay me to rest With the men I considered the best As I wonder why I ever joined this fight For it was not because I had might It might have been safer to pull a heist For it is in the ground I will forever rest

A/N: Sorry if this seems really random but this was something I wrote for remembrance day and I felt as this story is about WW1 it worked here. I left it like this so that you guys could choose who is the voice behind the poem so leave me a review about who you think it is if you want.
