A/N: Hello there guys. Hope you had a good New Year and a happy start. This is just a filler chapter. So I am going to try my very best to post the next chapter and hopefully it will explain this chapter.
14 Years later...
There was something about the rain that made Sookie sad. Maybe it was the way raindrops looked like tears or that the gray clouds covered her beloved sun, she didn't know. All she knew was that rain pretty much bummed her out.
And in London, Sookie had a hard time coping with the weather.
Sighing, she turned her attention to her book again, willing to ignore the rain as much as she could. Plugging her headphones on, she did just that.
She loved reading books. It gave her a way to explore a different world. Made her see in a different perspective. Walk in other people's shoes.
When her eyes got tired, she briefly closed her eyes and yawned. She put her headphones and book down, remembering that Godric would rise any minute now.
Almost immediately, Sookie felt the rise of the blank void from Godric's mind and when she left the library, she heard him play on the piano the familiar tune of Moonlight Sonata before, and others she wasn't familiar yet, but for the first time he was playing Sookie's first composition. Walking through the huge hallways, she followed the beautiful tune. The two-storey house was modern and very elegant, adorned with huge windows and light. Both the faerie hybrid and ancient vampire loved windows, but for different reasons. Sookie loved how the lights spilled in the room everywhere, while her vampire friend liked the moonlight shining through his bedroom. Every electronics and appliances was up to date and high tech. The house was protected with the top of the line security measures and technology.
Sookie found him in the living room, playing with his eyes closed and a small indulgent smile playing on his lips. She knew better than to disturb him and just watched him in admiration. This was a rare night, when Godric wakes up and plays piano. It was a first in a long time that he'd played. Sookie watched as his fingers flowed gracefully and skillfully on the keys, and when he closes his eyes, he was remembering something great from his past. Sookie felt her heart melt when she thought of Godric remembering her. Like he had a special memory he held unto just for her.
He wasn't in his usual white shirt and pants, tonight he wore jeans and a hoodie. If he was a stranger to Sookie, he would've looked like any average pale teenager. Under the pale moonlight with that dreamy expression on his face, he looked like his human age, a few years older than her age.
When he had finished, he opened his eyes to wink at Sookie. There he padded the seat next to him, Sookie followed and Godric kissed her forehead gently. "How was your sleep?"
"Fine. How was your day?" His smile stayed and started playing piano with Sookie.
"A bit sore." Without stopping his movements, he simply looked at Sookie with an eyebrow raised. Sookie didn't need to face Godric, knowing full well that he was watching her. "I mean training yesterday, I may have exerted my limits and I can't move my arms above my head."
Godric laughed and ceased playing all together. "Is this your way of excusing yourself from training, dear one?"
Sookie, who had also stopped playing, faced Godric. "Yes. But my excuse is reasonable. Fighting with a heavy sword, Godric? I'm just not used to it yet. Can't I just do some basics and rest?" She did her best to use her puppy eyes and pout.
He stared at Sookie before patting her head. "That look only worked when you were ten." He stood up and laughed when Sookie's face fell in disappointment.
"Please Godric! I don't ask for much, and all I really wanna do is rest. Please?"
Godric contemplated a little bit before sighing. "Fine."
Sookie fist pumped the air twice before hugging Godric's waist. "Thank you! Thank you!"
He chuckled and patted her arm before pulling away. "I have to make a call," He said before he picked up his Bluetooth piece and put it in his ear. "Have you eaten already?"
Sookie nodded before standing up. There was an awkward silence before she asked, "Should I get you something to eat?"
Godric shook his head, he understood her hesitations. There was a time when Sookie had to learn that he drank blood instead of food, and she 'freaked out' (her words). But after having a serious discussion, she finally understood. And at a young age, she was more understanding than he could've ever imagined or expected.
He was proud of her. For everything that she had done and will become.
"That won't be necessary, my dear." Kissing her forehead, he left the room when the other line answered, overhearing him talking in an ancient language she has yet to learn. When she was younger, Godric always made sure for Sookie to speak in many different languages in order for her to read any mind who spoke in another tongue. So far, she was fluent in 18 languages, including Swedish, Latin and French. She still had tutors on weekdays, and she was basically home schooled. Not that she minded, she hated having to read minds. And occasionally, she trains herself to control her mind reading better.
Unfortunately, Godric couldn't find any other faeries; they were near to extinction when the vampires and faeries war broke out. Of course, vampires' population lessened dramatically, but they were able to recuperate faster than faeries. Or so Godric and other vampires assumed. They were very secretive and they hid somewhere in the world, never returning again in over 500 years ago. Even with Godric's connections that accumulated in 2,000 years, it proved to be a difficult feat to find another faerie. If it weren't for his subordinates, he would have believed that only Warlow was the lone survivor, but signs were evident of faeries lurking around, they were just too fast to get.
Godric wanted to be very honest with his investigations about faeries and her heritage to Sookie but at the age of 20, he had to finally tell everything to her. She is quite mature for her age but she is also a child in a different way. Godric was aware that in order to save Sookie from Warlow, he had to steal away her from her family and childhood. He sees her constant need to socialize and have friends and go out. But as soon as Warlow is truly gone, Sookie can be free.
Once again, he questions himself if it was the right thing to do, to obscure her old life from her all these years. Would it be worth it for her? Is Warlow truly gone for good?
He looked back at her before entering the other room. She reached for her cup of coffee and laptop. Yes, it was worth it.
"Good Evening, Godric." His progeny Eric Northman greeted in his native tongue.
"Eric. How are you this evening?"
"I am doing well." Eric was busy and impatient. Godric wasn't offended, he was used to it. "There are reports from my area, Bon Temps actually. Faeries were detected around the Stackhouse residence. I could differentiate two of them. Both of them are unfamiliar to me."
"How long have they've been there?"
"Three weeks now. They just watch them. No one ever comes closer than 30 feet. They seem to have a portal. Which explains a lot of their disappearances."
"Have you taken any of them?"
"We've got them both already. They're in my basement, ready for questioning. We have no idea if they have others with them, but since their captivity, no one has shown up in Bon Temps and no one has been seen near the residence and no one has made any rescue mission for them."
"Good." Godric flipped through his tablet and scanned his planner. Cancelling most of them and giving instructions to his subordinates. "Do not harm them. No matter what. Treat them as guest but still keep them there."
"Will you be visiting?"
"Yes."
"With Sookie?"
There was a pause. "No. I cannot risk it…sorry to disappoint you."
"When will you be here?"
"Tomorrow." Godric already felt the silent question from Eric. "Sookie will stay here, in the care of my trusted friends here."
Meanwhile…
When Sookie was absolutely sure that Godric was out of the room, she logged in her account and checked her messages. One from Alcide Herveaux. She smiled at the thought of him.
They have been friends since they were ten years old. It was 10 years ago when she was staying in Godric's house in Mississippi, where they met. Alcide's father was in charge of guarding them during day time. And when Sookie was playing outside, she saw Alcide watching from afar. In the next few days, she brings Mr. Herveaux and his son lemonade everyday. It helped when Sookie remembered how her Gran used to make it.
They were playmates and when they were teenagers, they talked and stayed as best friends. It was when Sookie was fourteen that she had to leave.
But all these years they kept contact.
She wasn't sure why Alcide would keep up with her all these years, but she appreciated it greatly. He was her best friend and one of the closest. There weren't a lot of things happening in her life, just endless tutors and trainings.
While Alcide was older than Sookie by a year, his life seemed more fun and fulfilling. Even though Alcide preferred Sookie's lifestyle than his, she wanted something more normal and average. Not the constant fear of having to always look back at her shoulders. She wasn't entirely sure why if she was in constant danger, but the trainings and tutors and other lessons, it seemed liked preparation for something risky and unsafe.
But she loved Godric, Pam and even stupid asshole Eric. They were her family now.
A message popped up again, it was Alcide asking what she wanted for her birthday next week. So he could mail it to her in advanced. Her 21st birthday. She wondered if she could ask Pam to have a girl's night with her. If she wasn't in Shreveport, maybe she could come here? All her loved ones and are in the South. And she missed it there so much.
Sending one last message to Alcide, she stood up and mentally prepared herself to convince Godric.
Speak of the devil, he entered the room and looked at her with that 'vampire Sheriff' look. With Godric's ability to read people, he could see that Sookie wanted to say something. There was a pause, Sookie and Godric both stood still in awkward silence.
When Sookie had enough and while Godric decided to speak first instead, they both said at the same time, "I'm going to Louisiana."
A/N: So there you go, will Godric let Sookie go with him? Will she even care to listen to him anyway?
I know this chapter was a confusing one; even I had lots of questions while reading it. Hopefully the next few chapters will shed some light as to what is really going on between our (borrowed) characters.
Tell me what you guys think. You guys are awesome cakes. :)
