Here's another one! This is just a Pokémon twist on the classic Rags-to-Riches story, Cinderella! Now, for those of you who have kept up with the Diamond and Pearl series, you'll know who Ursula is. Basically, May is a live-in housekeeper at the mansion belonging to Ursula's parents. While Ursula's folks treat May with much kindness and respect, Ursula openly treats May with meanness and cruelty, even in front of her folks (albeit she never knows it). Now, rather than put up with Ursula's cruelty May openly vents and DOES, in fact, throw some sass around her. This is witnessed by Ursula's parents, and then they decide to step in and help her out on the night of the big ball. Now, if you know how the story goes, I'm going to make sure a Pokémon twist is put here. BIG TIME. And if you know what the main pair is here, then you'll know that Drew will be our Prince Charming!
Okay, I know that in the sense of Disney Princesses, the song "Whistle While You Work" from the historic classic "Snow White And The Seven Dwarves", is in the wrong fairy tale, but seriously, work with me here!
Once upon a time, in the land of Petalburg, lived a wealthy man, Phillip, his wife, Miranda, and their daughter, Ursula.
In a large mansion, there was an older gentleman with brown hair, and green eyes, while his wife was a woman with peach hair and blue eyes. Their daughter was a girl with red eyes and peach hair, in curly pigtails, and she was around five years old.
They also had a live-in housekeeper that they had adopted, a young, beautiful girl with brown hair and blue eyes, named May. She was the epitome of a proper lady, and was given much praise in her younger years.
In a mini French maid uniform was young May, who was singing while sweeping the floors.
"Isn't May just the cutest thing?" Miranda said to her husband.
"She sure is," Phillip said. "She's great at housework, she's cute and pretty, she's polite and well-mannered. She's got it all!"
"Hey! I'm ladylike, too!" Ursula said, bitterly.
"Yes, yes…" Phillip said, half-heartedly, while patting Ursula on the head.
However, Phillip's daughter, Ursula, was FAR from thrilled about this, so whenever her parents were not watching, or so she thought, she would make twice as much work for poor May, giving her so much grief.
Both girls were at the age of eight; May was on her hands and knees, cleaning the floors of the house, when Ursula came in, with a bucket of dirt and sand, and then dumped it all over the part of the floor around May that she had just cleaned, and then tossed some on to May herself before saying, "Hey, May, missed a spot!"
"Hey, that's mean, you big bully!" May cried, shedding tears, before Ursula blew a raspberry at May and ran off, cackling.
May then went back to cleaning, sadly. Her workload had been added, and she desperately needed a break. Phillip and Miranda saw this, and then Miranda told her husband, "Oh, poor May…"
"Never mind that; look how much work May has to do because of Ursula!" Phillip said, clearly upset.
Whenever her work was done, May would go up to her bedroom to take a break, and her only companion and confidant was her Pokémon, a Beautifly, which she raised from a Wurmple. Beautifly would be a source of comfort and tranquility that May never took for granted.
"Oh, Beautifly…" May said. "If only Ursula would stop being such a bully… Then I could finally get out of the house and have a little fun for once. You're my only friend…"
"Beau…" Beautifly said, as it then landed on May's head, and then wiggled its nose in front of her face, causing May to giggle a little bit.
"May, come down for dinner!" Miranda said.
"Coming!" May said. Beautifly then flew off of May's head and back on her perch, and then she smiled at her trainer. "Don't worry, Beautifly. Someday, things will get better for us."
May then ran out of the room, and left Beautifly in the bedroom with its thoughts.
Eight years passed by, and though things never changed between May and Ursula, and the amount of work never seemed to regress, May was always cheerful, sweet, kind, optimistic, and never afraid to speak her mind.
May was walking around, still wearing her French maid uniform, and she was carrying a broom and dustpan. She had her Beautifly on her head; she asked to have her Pokémon help her around the house. May was also wearing a belt with five other Poké Balls, which she had all raised herself.
"May, could you check on the gardens, please?" Miranda said, as she passed through the hall.
"On it!" May said.
Running out of the house into the gardens, May saw that the soil had been turned up, the flowers were wilted, and a few of the bushes were ruined.
"Not again…" May complained. Taking out two of her Poké Balls, she let her Venusaur and Wartortle out. Seeing the damage to the garden, Venusaur and Wartortle turned to May.
"You know what to do," May said. "Wartortle, start off with Rain Dance!"
Wartortle got a blue aura around itself, and then clouds started to come over the estate. May ran under her Venusaur's flowers, and was soon shielded from the rain that her Wartortle had conjured up.
After a few minutes, Wartortle's Rain Dance wore off, and then the plants were ready to get some extra sunlight to reproduce.
"Venusaur, Sunny Day!" May said.
Venusaur then launched a ball of yellow light from the seed on her flower and then the sun shinned brighter than normal. The sun sparkles then fell down on the gardens, and in what seemed like an instant, all the plants and trees re-sprouted and started to regain their former glory.
"Beautifly, how about calling in some other pollinating Pokémon to help?" May said.
Beautifly nodded, and then May said, "Good; I'll leave that to you. Wartortle, Venusaur, return!"
May then put her Pokémon back in their balls, and left the garden to back inside to do the chores.
Watching this from inside the mansion on a higher floor, Ursula was very upset that May had the resourcefulness to have her Pokémon help her out with the chores… But Ursula had something else up her sleeve.
"Perfect idea…" Ursula said, and then she went to the door, and let in the house's Herdier. "May will never get that cleaned up!"
Although she was unaware of it, her parents witnessed Ursula deliberately have the Herdier of the house track dirt and soil in the halls that May had just vacuumed and swept. Ursula then also spilled the flower vases and broke them on purpose without hesitation; deliberately wrecked the dishes that May had just washed and set out to dry; she also tossed flour, sugar, and cocoa powder all over the kitchen floors and essentially reset May's workload to the default.
Coming in the room, May noticed all the dirt in the hallways. Noticing Ursula in the other corridor, who told her, "Try and clean THAT, you little cinder-wench!"
"Ursula, you witch!" May shouted. "I've done enough cleaning today!"
"No, you haven't. Not until I have said so. Have fun, May! There's TONS more than just that." Ursula then left the corridor, and then May fell to her knees in anguish, tired out from all of the work and frustrated with Ursula.
"Why does she do this to me…?!" May said, shedding tears.
Phillip and Miranda were really upset with Ursula. It was one thing to make a mess unintentionally for May, but to deliberately reset all of her work was inexcusable.
They walked away, and decided to talk about what to do about Ursula.
May then calmed down enough to think the situation through. She then got an idea.
"Hey, since the floors are hardwood instead of carpet, I know exactly what to do!" May said. She then ran to the window, and then whistled to her Beautifly, before shouting to the garden, "Beautifly, gather up the Swablu and Minccino! We've got to due a rerun of the house cleaning today! Ursula reset everything… Again."
Beautifly nodded in understanding, and then she flew off into the gardens. After a few seconds, several Swablu and many Minccino came out of the bushes and trees, ready to help.
"Let's get cleaning!" May said.
The Minccino ran into the house through the open Pokémon Doors that her family had installed for Pokémon to come and go as they wanted. The Swablu flew through the windows and they all perched in various parts of the room. May then sent all of her other Pokémon out of their Poké Balls, minus her Munchlax and Skitty. Glaceon, Blaziken, Venusaur, and Wartortle were all ready to help out.
Three of the Swablu chirped cheerfully in song, and then after the smallest of the Swablu held its note for a little bit, all of the Pokémon got down to work.
"Just whistle while you work." May sang, as she went back to sweeping, and soon, the Minccino started sweeping the floors with her, the Swablu used their wings to clean the walls and other nooks and crannies.
"And cheerfully, together, we can tidy up the place. So hum a merry tune. Hmm…" Many of the other Pokémon in the house, including a few Shroomish and Breloom, were bringing dirty dishes to the kitchen to be washed. Meanwhile, a Chespin came along and put the dustpan down for May, the Minccino, and the Swablu to sweep the dust in.
"It won't take long when there's a song to help you set the pace!" May sang, as one Minccino and a Swablu were dusting off a chair that got hit with some of the dirt that Ursula had brought in.
"And as you sweep the room, imagine that the broom, is someone that you love and soon you'll find you're dancing too the tune." May sang, as she kept sweeping.
Wartortle and Beautifly were washing the dishes along with more Minccino and Swablu. Watortle wet the dishes with a gentle Water Gun, and then used its Bubble to add soap of sorts into the sink. Wartortle and a few of the Minccino then scrubbed the dishes with their tails, and then passed them to Beautifly.
"When hearts are high, the time will fly, so whistle while you work."
Beautifly used her Gust to dry the dishes, while the Swablu dried off the rest of the water and put them on the counter to dry off a little more.
The Swablu were dusting off more furniture, along with a few more Minccino, and they were cleaning the dust off their tails and wings outside of the house before coming back inside to clean some more. Venusaur and Blaziken were helping with the laundry by Blaziken heating the water with its Fire Punches and Venusaur using its vines to wash the clothes outside in the freshwater pond of the estate. May soon came outside and then after seeing how quickly the house cleaning was coming along, a Swablu landed on her shoulder and then May sang, "So, whistle while you work!"
May then kept humming and singing as the cleaning went on.
Meanwhile, at the castle of the country, the king and queen of Petalburg were having a family talk with their son, Prince Drew. Or rather, it was more of another session of nagging their son into finding a wife, and quickly.
The king had dark emerald hair and brown eyes, the queen had paler green hair and hazel eyes. Their son, Drew, had a hair color that was lighter green than his father, but slightly darker than his mother's, and his eyes were a matching green. Drew was wearing a white military jacket with buttons all up the front. It had gold epaulets, and he was wearing a matching, gold belt. He was wearing white pants and black dress shoes, too.
Prince Drew was slumped in his chair, having heard the conversation his parents gave him over and over.
"Mom, Dad, how many times do I have to tell you? I can't just get married on a whim and a whirlwind, and especially not an arranged marriage, either." Drew said.
"Son, we understand that, but sooner or later, you'll need a Princess by your side," Drew's father, the king, said. "Also, other kingdoms already have grandchildren, but our son has yet to be wed!"
"How am I supposed to find a bride when I'm never allowed to leave the castle? You know, outside the gates where the girls usually are," Drew said. "Not unless one traipsed on in here and caught my eye. The chances of that happening are slim to none."
"Drew's right, dear," the Queen told her husband. "No one dares come in the castle unless they have urgent business with us… Hey, I have an idea!"
"What is it, mom? Are you going to arrange a marriage for me?" Drew said, bitterly.
"Now, Drew, for generations, the Royal family has had a tradition that all of its members married for love and only for love; we have no intention of breaking that tradition," The Queen said. "Since you're never allowed to go out of the castle, why not bring every eligible girl in your peer group in the kingdom into the castle, instead?"
"Great idea!" Drew said, brightening up. "But… What do you have in mind?"
"A ball," The Queen said. "It will be invitation only; girls in your peer group, that is, around the age of seventeen, who are single are allowed to come! I know it will be a lot to do in one night, but I'm sure that you'll find your Princess."
"Why, my Queen, you're brilliant! That's the best idea ever! Now Drew can just let nature take its course and he can fall in love on his own with one of the girls." The King said.
"I concur," Drew said. "Now, let's get ready to plan a party… But when?"
"Tonight is too short notice," The king said. "Let's have it tomorrow night."
"It's a deal!" Drew said, and then he ran back into his chambers to get himself ready for the ball.
Back with May, all of her Pokémon friends left the house after a nice, thorough cleaning, and then May put her Pokémon back in their Poké Balls.
Ursula then saw all of the care that May gave to the house, and her jaw dropped once again; she hated the fact that May had the connection with Pokémon that she did. This was only one of the many things that Ursula just loathed about May.
"May, wonderful work, as usual!" Miranda said, as she came inside the room where May was. "You had the Pokémon help again, I see."
"Guilty as charged, but as always, the Pokémon and I always find a way to get things done in a jiffy!" May said. 'Now if only Ursula would stop bugging me and making MORE work for me and my Pokémon buddies to do...'
"If only Ursula were as much of a sweetheart as you are, May," Miranda said. Hearing this, Ursula's blood boiled, and then she turned her back and ran off to her bedroom. "Always wrecking your work and having you start over again…"
"You know?" May said.
"Yes, and Phillip and I are discussing what to do about it," Miranda said. "You deserve to take a little break front he housework."
May nodded a little bit; she felt better, knowing that Miranda knew her situation.
"Now, I'll let you have the rest of the day off to relax. Phillip and I will keep an eye on Ursula," Miranda said. "So go and play in the gardens or something."
May then ran outside to the gardens and then she called out to her friends, "Hey, everyone, let's play!"
A few Buneary, Pachirisu, Marill, Azurill, Pidgey, amongst other Pokémon, then came to May's side. And May then let her Beautifly out of its Poké Ball so they could play.
"It's so great to see you all," May said, as she sat in the grass and then pet and cuddled the Pokémon buddies she had. A few of the Pidgey landed on her shoulders, Beautifly was on May's head, and May was playing and showing affection to her Pokémon friends. "I only wish it could be like this every day… But I also wish that sooner or later, my days of being tormented by Ursula will fade…"
The Pokémon, hearing this and sensing May's sadness, grew sad, too, and then they all huddled around her for comfort.
Unknown to her, Ursula was watching May from above, inside the house, and then she said, "I'll make sure she snaps, and then mom and dad will see the hideous side of her she holds back! Then they'll just have to toss her out!"
In spite, Ursula kept watching May as she laughed and giggled with her Pokémon friends.
Waking up the next day, May got out of bed. She was in some red pajamas, and then she went to her closet, and then took out her maid uniform, before shutting it. After putting the uniform on, she adjusted the hat a little bit and put her shoes and knee socks on. May then ran downstairs into the dinning room, where Phillip, Miranda, and Ursula were eating. May attempted to sit at the family table across from Ursula, when...
Ursula then said, "Oh, no! Maids eat at the maid table… In the cellar!"
May's mouth opened in anger, and then Phillip said, "Ursula, that's enough! May, come sit and eat. We're having your favorite, today."
"Yay! Pancakes!" May said, as she sat down and then started to eat, happily.
"Why do you let that filthy maid even eat here? She's not on our level!" Ursula said, as she ate some of her pancakes.
"She's family, Ursula," Miranda said. "We took her in; she had no where else to go, and that's final. We're not kicking her out, we're not treating her any better than we treat you, and you are to treat May with the love and respect we have for her! We've seen all the grief you put her through, and it stops now."
"What?! Never! I'll never stop! Not until you call me nice things, like you do to that undeserving wench!" Ursula said.
"You are dismissed from the table!" Phillip semi-roared.
Doing what her father said, Ursula slammed down her fork and then stopped out of the room.
"We have to do something about her…" Miranda said.
"Please, eat, May," Phillip said, patting May on the head. "We'll deal with Ursula's behavior later."
After breakfast, May got to her usual morning chores, and was sweeping the floor while humming and singing, "Just whistle while you work…"
However, she was interrupted when the doorbell to the estate rang; May rushed off to the door, and opened it, to find one of the royal messengers holding a scroll in his hands. Giving May the scroll, May thanked the man and went inside.
"Thank you so much!" May said. She then ran inside to find Phillip and Miranda, and then she shouted, "Phillip! Miranda! Ursula! We have a letter from the castle!"
"What?!" The trio said, and then they all gathered around.
"Give me that!" Ursula said, snatching the scroll.
Opening it, Phillip said, "Oh, the palace is holding a royal gala event, and by royal decree, every eligible girl in the peer group of the prince is to attend, by invitation only."
"That's great! And since it's a royal order, I naturally, am going. Can't go against royal decrees, now can we?" Ursula said, snarky.
"That's a good point…" Miranda said, in defeat.
"I can't wait!" May said, catching her family's attention. "Since every eligible girl is going to attend, that means me as well!"
"You? Really? Why would they want a filthy little servant there?" Ursula said, before laughing haughtily.
"Ursula!" Miranda said.
"Did you not read the invitation? It says every eligible girl! That specifically means me! You can't bar me from going." May said, crossing her arms.
"Can, will." Ursula said, giving the invitation to her parents.
"Don't worry, May, we'll make sure you get to go," Phillip said, whispering into May's ear. "Now go finish your chores."
May nodded, and then she went back to work. As May was doing the laundry, Ursula came in with all of her best dresses and dumped them on May, saying, "Clean, mend, iron, and even dry-clean all of these dresses! I want to choose the best one to impress the prince!"
After May finished the laundry and mended, ironed, dry-cleaned, and made necessary embellishments to Ursula's dresses, May went to the shoes to shine and polish them for her family. However, Ursula came in once again and then dumped all of her shoes boxes on May, before shouting, "Shine, polish, and mend all of these! The best-dressed gets the prince!"
May rolled her eyes and groaned as she got back to work. Ursula forced May to organize all her makeup by color, brand, and number; had May reorganize her walk-in closet from dresses, to skirts, to shirts, to pants, and everything else. Ursula also had May reorganize the showers, clean the curtains, mow the lawn, tend the gardens, sweep the floors, do the dishes, cook lunch, everything.
By the end of the day, the ball was about to start, and May was still unable to get ready.
"Sorry, looks like you can't go! Hahahahaha! Just like I wanted." Ursula said, before getting in the limousine and being driven off to the ball.
May ran up to her bedroom, crying, and then Beautifly popped out of her Poké Ball to comfort May. May was crying on her bed, distraught that Ursula once again prevented her from having any time to herself.
Watching from outside her bedroom, Phillip and Miranda saw May crying her eyes out because she could not go to the ball.
They nodded to each other, and then said, "May, come on out of there. We're going to get you ready."
May perked up at this and then she quietly went out into the gardens, following Miranda and Phillip.
"May, there's something we haven't told you," Miranda said. "Phillip and I are magic practitioners. We've been practicing magic for years, and now, we can use it to help you."
"You can?" May said, wiping her tears off with a sniff.
"Yes," Phillip said. "First things first, a coach."
Phillip's hands started glowing baby blue, and then he pointed his finger at a red rose in a bush a few yards away, and then zapped the rose with his magic. The rose then grew to over ten feet high, and then it paled into white, and there was a door that appeared in front of it; the vines became wheels of the coach.
"Oh, wow!" May said, her eyes sparkling.
"And what's a coach without a coachman, footman, and horses?" Miranda said, as a few Minccino and Blitzle ran up.
Miranda's hands glowed pink and then with a snap of her fingers, the Minccino turned into two human boys in formal clothing, while the Blitzle grew into larger sizes and lost their stripes, looking like majestic horses.
"I love it!" May said.
"Ah-ah-ah," Phillip said. "We're not done, yet. We need to make sure you're dressed and hidden from the crowd. Don't want Ursula recognizing you, now do we?"
Phillip and Miranda then combined their magic and it spiraled around May. May soon had makeup on her face, including pink lipstick and baby blue eyeshadow; her maid uniform turned into a ballroom dress that was red with layered fabric that made it look like a red rose, and the torso was green. May's hair was then done in a bun; elbow-length, red gloves appeared on May's arms, while red, glass shoes appeared on her feet, and ruby earrings appeared on her ears, including a matching necklace.
"Oh, my gosh…!" May said, looking at herself. "I love it! And the shoes are red, glass, too! The dress is beautiful! But… Won't anyone recognize me?"
"No, we made sure that there was a spell that made you unrecognizable to anyone except us," Miranda said. "Now, there's something else we should warn you about."
"What?" May asked.
"The spell breaks when the clock strikes twelve, and you have until the twelfth toll to get out of there and back here. Once the spell's broken, everything will be as it was before." Phillip said.
"Thank you so much!" May said, about to cry. "Now to get going!"
May got into the coach, and then the coachman snapped the reigns before the horses started pulling the coach.
"Remember: be back before midnight!" Miranda called out.
"I understand!" May said, as she rode in the coach, on her way to the castle.
Inside the castle, everyone was dancing and mingling, but the girls were going gaga over Prince Drew, who was bowing to every girl in the room, much to his boredom.
The king and queen were above in the balcony, watching everything go down, and trying to make sure things were going right.
"It doesn't look like Drew's made a connection, yet," The king said. "Doesn't seem like this is working."
"It's natural, dear," The queen replied. "The party is just getting started, so don't jump the gun on this. He hasn't asked to dance with any of the girls."
Soon, Ursula came along, and immediately latched herself on to Drew. Drew was not liking this at all, and Ursula thought, 'Oh, Prince Drew! He's SO going to be mine!'
Ursula then looked at Drew with a lustful look in her eyes, and Drew merely sweat dropped and tried his best to make sure his face did not falter.
"Looks like one of the girls is making a move." The king said.
"And Drew does not seem to like her." The queen commented.
All of a sudden, May's coach rolled up, and then the footman opened the door. May stepped out and then as she walked into the palace, all heads turned to her, and even the king and queen were wide-eyed at May. Ursula stayed attached to Drew, and Drew was doing his best to get Ursula off.
However, Drew's eyes briefly went to May, but then he turned his head and got a much better look at her. May was shyly looking around, in utter awe of the glamour and beauty of the party. May slowly started walking into the room, and all eyes were on May.
"Wow! Look at her," The queen said. "But I don't recognize her."
"Neither do I," The king said. "But what the hey; looks like she's the belle of the ball tonight."
Ursula looked up and then she said, "Who's that?!"
Ursula then noticed Drew was looking straight and May, and then she waved her hand in front of Drew's face. She got nothing, and then Drew finally got Ursula's arm off of him.
Drew was completely mesmerized by May, and although he did not know where she came from or who she was, it was clear that he was a victim of love at first sight. Drew then started over to May, thinking, 'Who is she? She's the most beautiful girl I've seen in my life.'
May, not paying attention, was soon approached by Drew, and then she turned to look at him, and blushed a little bit. Drew took her hand and kissed it, before asking her, "May I have this dance?"
May blushed and got a sultry smile on her face before saying, "It'd be my upmost pleasure."
Soon, the lights dimmed down and the music turned back up and soon a waltz started. May and Drew danced together, and they were very infatuated with one another. May kept her eyes on the Prince, but they would always wander to the beauty of the palace; Drew, on the other hand, had his eyes glued on May and May alone, and did not seem to notice the other girls around him.
Namely, a very jealous Ursula; she was bitterly looking at the two, and was very upset that she was not in May's position.
Drew's cheeks started to tint red while thinking, 'Never had my eyes beheld such beauty and grace… I've never felt like this before… There's no doubt: this is love.'
May then noticed Drew blushing, and she let a giggle from her lips. Hearing her laugh made Drew's heart skip a beat and then looking at the crowd, he traveled away from the rest of the guests and led May outside on a balcony.
"Quick! Close the curtain so those two can be alone!" The queen whispered to one of the servants.
The servant closed the curtain just as Ursula was about to go and get Drew's attention, much to her frustration.
Out on the balcony, separated form the crowd by the curtain, Drew and May became closer to each other. May leaned her head on Drew's shoulder, causing him to blush, and then he said, "You know, every night, this view is beautiful. But… Right now, it seems like it's at its most beautiful and magical, since you're here with me."
"I'm flattered," May said, giggling. "But for me, this entire night has been beautiful and magical. I just wish it wouldn't end."
Drew then put his hand on May's cheek, and then he told her, "It's not going to end. Not if I have anything to say about it."
"Really?" May said, as her eyes sparkled.
Drew then leaned in to kiss May, and May closed her eyes, ready to return the kiss, but...
DONG!
May immediately opened her eyes and then she asked, "Um… That wouldn't happen to be toll for midnight, would it?"
Looking at the large bell tower, Drew then said, "Yes, it is."
"Oh, no!" May said.
"What's wrong?" Drew asked.
May took her hands out of Drew's and then she said, "I gotta book it!"
"Excuse me?" Drew asked, cocking an eyebrow.
May then turned on her heel and ran through the curtain; Drew shouted, "Don't leave!"
"I have to!" May said, as she started to run through the ballroom, much to everyone's confusion; Drew had no intention of letting May leave, so he took off after her.
"Please! Don't go!" Drew said. He managed to grab May's wrist, but the clock kept tolling, and May was freaking out in fear.
"Please, I have to go!" May said. "I really must!"
"No! You haven't even told me your name! How am I supposed to meet you again if I don't know your name?" Drew asked.
May bit her lip, and then she said, "Just remember me by this."
She gave Drew a big kiss on the cheek, causing him to blush, and then while he was stunned, May took the chance and ran off, but she stumbled and tripped a bit, before steadying herself and then unknown to her, she lost her left slipper. Luckily, it was not damaged.
"Step on it!" May shouted, as she went into the coach, and after the coachman snapped the reigns, the horses started going.
"No! Please! Don't leave me…" Drew said, but he trailed off, and held the cheek that May kissed, as he felt the sensation of it pulsed through him. He then looked down and saw that May had lost her shoe; he picked it up, and then out of a broken heart, he started shedding tears.
He walked back inside, and then his parents came to him, and asked him, "Who was that girl? What was her name? Why did she leave?"
"I haven't a clue…" Drew said, absentmindedly, as he stared at the shoe, and held his cheek, blushing. He then left the ball, and decided to call it a night.
"It's official," The king said. "He's fallen in love with that girl."
"We have to find her again!" The queen said.
Meanwhile, May watched as the palace seemed to go in the horizon, and then she said, while shedding tears, "Why didn't I tell him my name at least?!"
However, a few seconds later, everything started sparkling, and then she said, "Uh-oh…"
All of a sudden, just as May made it back home, everything turned back to normal, and the rose coach became just a rose. May picked it up, as a memento of her time at the ball, and then she noticed that she lost one of her shoes. She took this as a sign that she would be reunited with Drew, and then she looked at the castle, saying, "I'll never forget this night."
The next morning, May woke up and went back to work as usual, pretending that nothing happened. Ursula talked about nothing but it should have been her dancing with Prince Drew, not the mysterious girl from the ball. May ignored Ursula, mainly due to the fact that she was more depressed about not being able to stay with Drew longer and how she wanted the spell to last longer.
May went back to vacuuming, cleaning, and playing with her Pokémon, but despite this, all she could think of was Drew and the dancing from the previous night. After May finished her chores, she went up to her bedroom, and looked out the window before sighing sadly.
Beautifly landed on May's head and then May told her, "Oh, Beautifly, will I ever get my happy ending?"
Beautifly merely raised her wings and made a little noise, and May sighed, saying, "I was beating a dead Ponyta with that question…"
May then left the bedroom to get back to work, to possibly try distracting herself from her thoughts of the prince...
However, she was not the only one with love struggles.
~Dream Sequence~
Drew and May, still under the spell, were dancing together, in the same clothing they were in the night before. May was giggling happily while Drew could not help but smile at the girl he loved so dearly.
"Oh, my mysterious beauty, I'm so happy we're together again!" Drew said, as he and May kept dancing.
"I am, too." May said, blushing.
"You never did tell me your name last time," Drew said to May. "So, please? Tell me?"
"You'll have to catch me, first." May said, as she then started to run off into the gardens.
"So, we're playing a game, huh?" Drew said, as he then took off after May, and then he soon was in the gardens. He caught a glimpse of her turning and running into the garden on the left, and gave chase.
Drew soon caught up to May, who was in the rosebushes, but she kissed him on the cheek; THE same cheek she kissed at the ball, and Drew was stunned for a second before chasing after May once again.
Soon, he grabbed hold of her wrist and pulled her into his embrace once more, and then said, "Tell me… Tell me your name."
"My name is…" May was about to say, but then the scene went pitch black.
Everything surrounding Drew began to collapse, and soon, a mirror pulled up behind May, and began to suck her in.
"No! No!" Drew shouted, as he clung to May, to keep her safe.
"Save me!" May shouted, as she was getting sucked into the mirror.
"No! Don't leave me again!" Drew begged, as he reached out to May. However, just as he was about to grab her hand, she was fully inside the mirror.
The mirror then shattered, and then everything started to break apart.
"No! Not again! NO!" Drew shouted, as he fell to his knees, and started crying. "No… I love you…"
A thunderbolt then clapped and then soon...
~End of Dream Sequence~
Drew fell out of his canopy bed and landed on his head, then his stomach. Drew then looked up and saw that the shoe May had lost was still intact. Standing up, he picked the shoe up and then sat on the bed.
Looking at it in closer detail, Drew sighed sadly, as he felt his heart was shattered into pieces now that the girl he had fallen head-over-heels for was gone without a trace.
Drew heard knocking on the door, and then he said, "Come in."
Drew's parents then came in, and his mother asked, "Are you okay, son? We heard you shouting in your sleep, and then we heard you fall out of the bed."
"If by 'okay', you mean in one piece, then in that sense, yes, but in the sense that the girl I'm in love with is gone without a trace except this slipper she lost, then no, I'm NOT okay." Drew said, slumping.
"Looks like the ball worked," The queen said. "But we need to find that girl or else your heart's going to be torn in two forever."
"The only clue I have is the shoe she lost last night," Drew said, giving the shoe to his parents. "There are only two options: find the girl who fits, or find the girl who fits that has the other one. Just because the shoe fits doesn't mean its her. She needs to have the other one."
"That's perfect!" The king said. "We'll send our footmen out into the kingdom to find the girl who has the matching foot and shoe to this one! Then we'll bring her back and you two can reunite!"
"Thank you, dad!" Drew said. "Finally, I can see the love of my life once again!"
Soon, posters around the kingdom were posted about the shoe; the footmen would go door to door having every girl try on the shoe. If it did not fit, the footmen would move on, but if it did, then they asked the girl if they had the other shoe. If they did not, and it was usually obvious, they also moved on.
After trying the shoe on dozens of girls, the footmen soon started to make their way to May's estate.
"Oh, my goodness! Finally, this is my chance!" Ursula said. "Once the shoe is put on my foot, they'll whisk me away to me married to prince Drew! Finally, I get something my way!"
"With all respect, Ursula, don't be too cocky," May said. "For all you know, they might think it's you, but they may have to check."
"Check?! Check for what?!" Ursula said, getting into May's space.
"For one thing, you actually have to try on shoe," May said. "And even if it does fit, they have to make double sure by asking you if you have the other shoe. That's what the poster said."
"Hahahaha! Once the prince realizes I'm so much better than whoever that girl is, he'll forget all about her." Ursula said, haughtily laughing.
'Fat chance of THAT happening,' May thought. 'Because that's MY shoe...'
Right away, the footmen then came into the house, and then said, "I need the ladies of the house to come."
Both May and Ursula then came forward, albeit Ursula deliberately tripped May.
"Hey, stop being such a bully, Ursula!" May said, before standing up.
"Being the daughter of this house, it's only natural that I try it on first." Ursula said.
A chair was pulled up, and then Ursula sat down before trying on the shoe. Sadly for her, Ursula's foot was just too big for the shoe. Ursula tried her best to force her foot in in all different angles, and then albeit she did not know it, the shoe started to crack.
"Ursula, stop! The shoe is starting to crack! That shoe is glass, you know!" May protested.
"NO!" Ursula said, as she tried forcing it on. "Not… Until… I get it on!"
However, the shoe then shattered from the force, and everyone gasped.
"No! His highness will be devastated!" The footman said, about to cry.
"Not on my watch," May said, stepping up. "I can help."
"How can a petty little maid like YOU help? You didn't even go to the ball!" Ursula said.
"And whose fault was THAT?!" May said, as she then took something out of her pocket. "Besides, you'd be surprised as to how things work out. Because, I have the other shoe."
She then revealed that she had the matching shoe, and then May gave it to the footman.
"Oh, such a relief!" The footman said.
May then sat down in the chair, and then the footman tried the shoe on: perfect fit.
"NO! NO, NO, NO! THAT SHOE WAS SUPPOSED TO FIT ME! I WAS SUPPOSED TO BECOME PRINCESS! I WAS SUPPOSED TO LEAVE MAY BEHIND TO CLEAN THIS HOUSE FOREVER!"
While Ursula was throwing her fit, everyone else ignored her, and then May stood up before saying, "Since the shoe fits, and I had the other one, you know what that means!"
"You're the girl that his highness has fallen in love with!" The footman said.
May nodded, and then the footmen led May out of the estate, leaving Ursula behind.
In the carriage, May had brought her Poké Balls and a lot of her Pokémon friends left the estate gardens to go to the castle with May.
"I see you have many Pokémon friends, your highness." The coachman said.
"Don't call me that just yet," May said. "I'm still just a common maid girl."
"You won't be for much longer." The coachman replied.
May smiled, and blushed.
Drew was on the balcony, sulking patiently for the footmen to come back. He soon saw the carriage he sent out come back, and he grew hopeful.
Drew then ran down to the front of the castle, and then the carriage pulled up.
"Your highness, please allow me to introduce your mysterious girl," The footman said, as he opened the carriage door. "Lady May."
"May… So that's your name." Drew said, as May stepped out of the carriage, wearing the shoe. He noticed there was only one, but it was on the other foot.
"The one we had initially was shattered before she came forward with the other one, sire." The footman explained.
Drew then approached May, and then she curtsied, before standing up and showing Drew her face.
"It is you!" Drew said, as he took May's hands, and then she smiled, blushing.
Drew and May then shared a kiss, and immediately, the scene changed into their wedding. May was in a pure white wedding gown, wearing the same jewelry and hairstyle she had at the ball, and then she was wearing different ruby-colored shoes.
The king and queen were getting emotional over the scene. Their son had finally taken a bride, and it was out of pure love, as was tradition.
"May, I love you." Drew said, as he hugged his bride, and May hugged back, blushing.
"I love you, too." May said, as she snuggled her head against her groom's chest.
As for Ursula, she was stuck as the maid of the house from then on, and she got a taste of her own medicine.
Drew and May then got into the carriage and went on their honeymoon in another part of the country, and it was a happy ending for the both of them.
That's a nice Pokémon twist to this story! Now, I hope you're ready for the next one. Because the next one is going to be a little… Strange, in a scents.
