Here's the next one! Now, if you read the previous chapter, you know that at the end of the chapter, I said something about this chapter being "strange, in a scents". Okay, what I was referring to was that this one-shot is based off the famous Academy-Award winning, Chuck Jones cartoon "For Scent-Imental Reasons". Now, for those of you who have seen it, I'm sure you know where I'm going with this one. That's right! Drew's going to be playing the role of that famous, malodorous, French casanova skunk, Pepé Le Pew!
However, Drew will not be a Stunky in this case, he'll be human; he's just suffering from chronic B.O., which he's oblivious too, much like Pepé is to his own stink. And if you've seen your share of Pepé Le Pew cartoons, then you know who's going to be our Penelope Pussycat: that's right, it's going to be May! Like I said, you know how this is going to play out if you've seen these kinds of episodes. And if you've seen this episode in particular, then you know how this is going to go, but the ending… I'm really not sure how I'm going to write that one out. I guess you'll just have to read and find out.
Okay, and here's some information before you read: a gendarme is the term used for someone in military forces that are also tasked with police duties, and since this cartoon was based in France, you're more likely to find gendarmes in Europe… At least, that's my understanding. If I'm wrong, let me know.
Now, enough of that: let's get going!
The story takes place in the region of Hoenn, more specifically, in the town of Petalburg City. The sun had just risen up to its morning peak, and the town was fully awake and ready for the day.
An older gentleman was riding a bike while holding flowers in the basket of the bicycle. He was singing happily as he was biking. This man was a perfumer and was on his way to his shop to open up for the day.
"Well, it's a beautiful day, in Petalburg City! A new day, a new challenge," The perfumer said, as he was singing and biking around the corner into the city. "To bring sweet scents to everyone's day, is just a nice, carried range."
He was really in a good mood; the weather was perfect, he was wide awake, and he was ready for another day at his shop. Then again, since he loved the fragrances of flowers, which he was biking right past, the mood was perfectly set for his workday.
He biked by some other women, and he waved to them, while they waved back, and he was really happy to see them.
"Morning, ladies!" The perfumer said.
"Morning, Mr. Scent!" The ladies said, as they were tending to their Pokémon by the river near the bridge that Mr. Scent had biked over.
"Time to take the stage, and I'm ready for a new day… To give scents to the world. I don't do my work for nothing, and I can't wait to start the day."
He soon made it to his perfume shop. The man parked his bike in front of the store on the bike rack.
"Ah, yes, another day of selling perfume and cologne to those who need to smell nice for the right times," The perfumer said. "I just love my work."
He locked his bike up, and took the flowers out of the basket.
"These flowers are going to be perfect for my next perfume; I can't wait to use them." The perfumer said, as he gingerly touched the petals of the flower. The flowers in particular were scented geraniums and plumeria flowers.
As he then took the keys to the building out, he kept humming. He was soon singing still, and then he unlocked the door. However, once he opened the door, he looked inside and saw something that scared the Solrock out of him.
"What the hey?!" The man shouted, as he jumped back, taking off his hat in fright. He was also slightly green in the face. He then took off in fear, ready to get help from anyone who would hear him out.
"HELP! I need some assistance, please! Sheriff, please!" The perfumer said, as he was running through the streets of the city, up some stairs, and around the town, looking for someone to help him out.
He soon came upon a gendarme and then he started shouting, "Please, gendarme, you have to help me out! There's a major intruder in my shop and I'm too scared to get him out!"
"Don't worry, sir, I'll take care of it." The gendarme said, as he led the perfumer back to his shop.
"Oh, thank you, gendarme! Thank you so much!" The perfumer said.
Once they got back, the gendarme was ready to take on whatever pest was inside the perfume shop. But what he was about to encounter was something he himself could not handle.
When the gendarme opened up the shop, he was surprised by the smell coming from inside the store, and he shouted, "Goodness, gracious! PE-EEW!"
Inside the shop was a boy in his teenage years. He was wearing a purple jacket with a black undershirt with sleeves that went up to his wrists. The boy was also wearing dark green shoes, and his pants were some sort of turquoise shade. He also had green hair, but since he was being looked at from the back, his face could not be seen. This boy was named Drew.
He was searching around the shelves, in the men's cologne section. His arms were up, and green fumes were coming from his underarms, but the boy himself was not bothered by it. In fact, he did not even seem to know about his body odor.
"Love affair? Affair of the heart?" Drew sang, as he was purveying the shelves to find the right scent, all the while, not knowing about how bad his body odor was.
"Not Drew! His horrible body odor makes things just too disgusting for us to handle!" The gendarme said, as he turned green in the face, with eyes wide open.
"I do not know what ... I live in hope." Drew sang, as he took a bottle off one of the shelves and then he opened it, before smelling the fragrance by running the pipe of the spritzer under his nose.
"This one smells fine," Drew said. "I'll consider it."
He then hummed a bit as he put the bottle back on the shelf, and continued looking around.
The gendarme then ran off in fear, and the the perfumer shouted after him, "Gendarme, where are you going?! Get back here right now!"
"Oh, woe is me! I'm going to go bankrupt!" The perfumer said, his hair all messed up, his hat off, and sobbing, as he fell to his knees.
A young girl around Drew's age, with brown hair and blue eyes, named May, then came over to the perfumer out of concern, and then she asked him, "Is there something bothering you? Do you need any help?"
Looking up, the perfumer stood up, and looked at May, as if examining her; May was, to say the least, embarrassed, as she was not liking the way the perfumer was looking at her.
"Perfect," The perfumer said. "You'll do fine."
"Excuse me?" May asked, nervous.
"I need you to lure out the intruder in my shop," The perfumer said, pushing May towards the door. "Go!"
The perfumer then shoved May into the open door. She stumbled into the store, tripped, and tumbled into a table that had a bottle of perfume labeled, "Red Rose Perfume (With female pheromones)"
The table was bumped pretty hard, and then the bottle fell over, the lid came off, and almost all of the perfume inside the bottle spilled onto May. The perfume itself was very subtle stuff, but since there was so much, it was pretty easy to smell the roses.
May sat up, and shook some of the perfume off of her, only to smell Drew's body odor. She sniffed the air rather loudly, and her face was turning green. May said, "Eww…"
Drew, hearing her, turned around, and said, "What? Oh, a beautiful young girl."
Seeing May, he immediately had hearts in his emerald-green eyes, and then he slicked his hair back, lifting his arms, causing the smell to worsen. May was on the verge of puking from the smell, and then Drew took some breath mints and ate them, getting ready for a kiss.
He then clicked his tongue, and May, realizing he was the source of the smell, immediately got up and tried to get out of the store and try to get away, saying, "See ya!"
Drew then had a confused look on his face, and dashed ahead, dropping the cologne bottle he was sampling; just as May was about to get out the door, Drew managed to get in front of her; he closed the door, locked it, and then May tried skidding to a halt, only for her to end up in Drew's arms; one of his hands on her waist, the other on her bandana-covered head.
As he stroked the top of her head, Drew said, "Hello, sweetheart. Isn't it love at first sight?"
"No, it's not." May said, but Drew ignored her and was not paying attention to what she was saying.
May went red in the face, and Drew started kissing her cheek, much to her embarrassment. She also went a little pale from Drew's smell, and she tried getting out, only for Drew to tell her, "No need to come with me to the dance hall. We can make a memorable dance moment right here!"
May tried squirming out of Drew's arms, only to drag him as she tried to get away, with Drew talking romantically towards her; however, May said, "Let go of me! Please! Let me go!"
May managed to get out of his grip and ran off; Drew, his eyes closed, was trying to kiss May, only to realize she was gone, and then he opened his eyes, saying, "Eh?"
He saw May trying to wash the perfume off, and May said, "Oh, no, this isn't doing me any good! This rose perfume is still on me! And that guy really stinks... I have GOT to get out of here..."
"Oh, I get it," Drew said, chuckling a bit. "You're just trying to make yourself all sweet and beautiful for me. I can wait."
He then took out a nail file and started filing his nails while humming… For about two or three seconds.
"Time's up," Drew said, putting the nail file back. He then approached, rubbing his hands together, while wiggling his eyebrows lustfully. "Whether or not you're all made up, let's get back to our courtship."
"No way, you!" May, shouted, scared; she ran to the window, and tried her best to open the window up, shouting, "Someone help me! I gotta get out of here!"
"This love-bundle of mine," Drew said, as he watched May futilely try to open the window and escape. "Now she's trying to look for a nice place to have a date. That's sweet of her, isn't it?"
He then started approaching May, and then he said, "Come on over, my little Pokeblock, I'll help you out. Wait for me…"
May merely took off, and Drew shouted, "Hold on! Wait for me!"
May found the perfect hiding spot to get away from Drew; she locked herself inside the in-building greenhouse. Luckily for her, it was locked from in the inside this time, so she could easily get out if she wanted to.
"Oh, what a relief," May said, as she sat down on the floor. "Nice to finally get away from that walking Stunky. But… Take away the body odor, and he's actually pretty cute. I don't mind his affectionate assertiveness, but it's a little over the top. The fact that I'm drenched in this rose perfume with those female pheromones isn't helping me…"
"Where are you, my love? Please, stop hiding…" Drew said.
Hearing him, May stood up, in a mild panic.
"I'm going to find… Wha?!" Drew said, and soon saw May in the greenhouse. The door was glass.
May was looking at Drew with a mischievous glint in her eyes and a smile on her face. She was really happy to be away from Drew and his body odor, for the moment.
Drew came to the door, clearly upset, as was indicated by his facial expression, and then he said, "Come on out of there!"
May, although she could hear him, decided to play a little bit. Still smiling a little bit, she shook her head, and said, "No. I'm not coming out. See ya!"
She then made a little "too-da-loo" motion by wiggling her fingers at Drew's face.
Drew then decided to be sweet. He then made a "come here, sweetie" motion with his finger, while saying, "Come on, darling. I love you!"
He then pretended to hold May in his arms while kissing her. He looked up at May, only for her to roll her eyes.
She then told him, while miming, "Sorry, but I'm staying right here!"
She then crossed her arms, while Drew slouched a little bit, slightly upset by his "beloved's" actions. He then started throwing a bit of a hissy fit outside the door, ranting and raving about how he and May were meant for one another, but May merely giggled a bit at how upset he was getting. After letting all that energy loose, Drew stood his ground and pointed to the spot in front of him, motioning for her to come out.
May, once again shook her head, and then Drew, really upset, then asked her, "Why not?"
"Because… You really stink!" May said, while pinching her nose to make sure Drew got the point.
Drew's eyes were merely wide open with his pupils and irises shrinking. He then pointed to himself, and then he asked, "ME?!"
May gave a firm nod, and then said, "Yes, you smell really bad!"
Hearing this, Drew slapped himself in the face, in the eye area; he was really distraught. He then took out a Poison Barb, rolled up his sleeve, and put the barb to his bicep. He then looked at May sadly, before mouthing, "Farewell…"
Seeing this, May was horrified that he would pull something like that. She watched as Drew walked off the scene, where May could not see him.
May heard Drew shout, and then out of fear that he was poisoned, May unlocked the door to the greenhouse and ran out to check on Drew… Only to run into his arms, seeing him completely fine, and still stinky.
"Yo… You're okay?! You're not poisoned?!" May said, shocked that after that little show, he was still okay.
"I couldn't bring myself to do it; besides, that item can't poison anyone anyway. It only enhances Poison-Type moves, luckily for you." Drew said, with a smile.
He then dipped May down, and said, "And now, my love, we can begin together again."
Drew then started kissing May on the cheeks; May was completely shocked that she was blindsided like that. She was also turning red in the face. She secretly liked the kisses, but she hated his B.O. Just when Drew was about to get a kiss onto her lips, May wriggled out of his arms, and she took off out of fear.
"Don't you know how to take NO for an answer?!" May shouted, as she fled.
Noticing that she had bolted, Drew said, "Eh. Whatever. Don't worry, sweetheart, I'll play along."
Drew then started skipping a bit, at a calm, steady pace, chasing after May. She ran around another corner inside the building in complete fright, while Drew just followed her calmly, still skipping at a calm pace, while May was still flipping out.
"Leave me alone!" May shouted, as she ran away from Drew in a panicked, freaked out speed, which was not only fast, but she also in such a big panic that would stumble out of pure fear; Drew was still keeping his pace, while still going after May.
"Stay back!" May shouted, turning another corner, while Drew kept after her.
May soon managed to find a staircase and after slowing down a bit, she skid to a halt and then ran up the stairs in a panic. Naturally, Drew followed her. There was another door upstairs, and May immediately ran inside and shut the door, locking it, while Drew kept after her.
May soon slid down against the door, sitting down, and then she tried catching her breath. She then sighed loudly and said, "Finally… Man, if only he wasn't so assertive and stinky… Then he'd be a great boyfriend for any girl… And I still smell like roses…"
May managed to relax a little bit, as Drew was not kissing her repeatedly… For the moment. May went red in the face, and then thought, 'Why did I get caught up in this?!'
She soon heard footsteps, and May panicked, and then she heard the door handle shaking; she stood up and then stepped a few feet away. What May did not know about the door, was that it had retractable windows, and Drew opened them up before leaning on the sill.
"Hello, darling," Drew said, romantically. "I'm the locksmith of love. Non?"
May immediately ran towards the window, shouting, "You really can't take a hint, can you?"
"Come on, my love, we need to be mature about this," Drew said, climbing through the window. "Don't run away from my love."
"Sorry, I'm not staying put." May said.
May put her leg over the windowsill; looking down, it was quite a ways down, but it was either jump and get seriously hurt or stay there and suffocate from the stench or the kisses; whichever came first.
Drew looked over to May, and said, "What? Oh, I get it. She wants to jump from the window to prove her feelings for me. That's very sweet."
However, Drew got serious, and ran at May, saying, "But I won't let that happen!"
Drew then caught May in his arms, but she was still over the windowsill, before saying, "You're safe! Don't worry!"
However, May then took out one of her Poké Balls, but she then fell from Drew's arms.
"NO!" Drew shouted; he recklessly jumped out the window, too, to catch May.
"Venusaur!" May shouted, letting her Venusaur out of its Poké Ball. "Use Vine Whip and catch me!"
Venusaur then let loose a few vines, and caught May in mid-air, while Drew kept falling… Into a barrel of men's cologne, soaking him. May then put Venusaur back in its Poké Ball and then hid around the corner, away from Drew. She was afraid that her rose-scent would bring him towards her, but she held her breath and tried to stay quiet.
Drew rose up out the barrel, and he was soaking wet in cologne. He looked around, only to see that May was gone. He got out of the barrel, and then he started walking around, trying to find her. May held her breath, mainly to avoid the stink she was in for.
"Where are you, my love? Hm?" Drew said, as he walked past the alley that May was hiding in. "I'm trying to find you. Yoo-hoo, sweetheart? Where are you?"
May silently snuck out, and then she looked at Drew, still holding her breath, thinking, 'Please don't notice me, please don't notice me!'
May then exhaled loudly in relief that Drew had turned the corner, back to the front door of the shop. However, she ducked back when Drew turned around, hearing her. He picked up the rose scent she was giving off, and he detected the pheromones, too. May held her breath once more, and then Drew found her in the alleyway.
"Ah, darling, there you are!" Drew said, hearts flying around him.
May backed up, only to hit the wall, and then she thought, 'NO!'
"Stay back! Get away from me!" May said, but immediately took in more air to avoid his stench.
"Stop playing hard-to-get, my sweet," Drew said, as he came closer. "It's only natural that we be together. We're meant to be, aren't we?"
May kept holding her breath; she was going red in the face, but Drew said, "Oh, how sweet; you're blushing for me."
May turned her head away, and then Drew kissed her on the cheek once again, before doing it multiple times on her cheek. May's face went from red to blue, and then she exhaled loudly; she needed the air. Only, rather than Drew's body odor, all she smelled was the cologne, which had the scent of daisies. May breathed in relief, and then she turned her face back to Drew, actually blushing this time, and with a small smile.
Drew then said, "Hah! You're no longer afraid!"
Drew and May then hugged each other, each smelling just fine, and then Drew and May finally shared a mutual kiss with each other, before leaving the alley to actually go on a date with each other.
Nice twist on this one, huh? I know, since this is Chuck Jones, it's a little cliche, like 1949 cliche (that was the date this particular cartoon aired), but otherwise, I think I did pretty well, considering this was only a 7-minute episode… I'm a little unsure of what to do for the next one-shot, so if you have any ideas, let me know. I CAN do another Pepe Le Pew twist, but that might have to wait for a later date.
