This particular one-shot of mine is something I've been waiting to do for a little while. It's "Really Scent" starring Pepe Le Pew, and as with the other two, Drew is our Pepe, May is our Penelope! In this scenario this time, rather than the typical Pepe Le Pew scenes, this time, May and Drew mutually fall for each other at first sight, but as usual, May is put-off by his B.O. She tries to get rid of the stink so she can stay with him, but she gets nothing; Drew clues in when he reads the dictionary after people flee (once again) from his smell.
Now, for those of you who have seen this episode, I'm sure you know that the main reason that Fabrette (Penelope Pussycat) is unable to get a date until Pepe comes along is because she was born with skunk markings, despite being a cat; naturally, these markings drive off potential mates.
How am I going to twist this around for May? Well, what if how girls' ability to get a guy is based on how beautiful the Pokémon is? The more beautiful the Pokémon, the more likely a girl is to find a boyfriend? Now, I know that's shallow, but hey, I had to think of SOMETHING. And in this case, just like Fabrette has her sister Jeanette to compare herself to, we'll have Dawn play that role.
Petalburg City: where people mingle with nature. This is the city that is home to the Petalburg Gym Leader, Norman, and his family, which consisted of his wife, his daughter, May, and his younger son, Max. They were all a happy family.
Norman's little daughter, May, was a brunette with blue eyes and she was playing with her best friend, Dawn, a girl with blue hair and blue eyes. The two girls were six years old, and they were about to pick their first Pokémon.
They had a choice from all of the Kanto Starters to all of the Kalos Starters, and every Pokémon in between was available to the two girls.
A Piplup made eye contact with Dawn, who was looking over the eighteen starter Pokémon. Dawn looked at the other ones, while May was also looking over the Pokémon, as well.
Dawn looked back to Piplup, who immediately leaped off its spot and then it ran up to Dawn, and hugged her leg. Dawn noticed that the little Piplup had an Everstone on it. Seeing how cute it was, and the fact that Piplup was not about to let go of her leg, Dawn smiled.
She picked up the Piplup, and then she told her mother, May, and May's parents, "I'm choosing Piplup!"
"Lup!" Piplup said, as it then hugged Dawn and started smiling.
"And what about you, May? Which one will you pick? Remember, it will be a careful choice; the Pokémon you pick can't…" Caroline asked, but was interrupted when she saw how happy May was playing with a Torchic she taken well too.
"I want this Torchic!" May said, Torchic rubbed its cheek against May's face.
"Okay…" Caroline said. "I'm not sure how likely May will be to get a boyfriend once it becomes a Blaziken…"
"With the way this society is, not very likely at all." Johanna said.
May did not hear her mother, nor did she pay attention; she was happy with her Torchic.
A decade later, the two teen girls had grown, as did their Pokémon teams. Dawn had obtained quite a few Pokémon herself; a Buneary, a Pachirisu, a Quilava, a Mamoswine, and finally, a Togekiss.
May, on the other hand, had obtained quite a few beautiful Pokémon herself; her very first one was a Beautifly she raised from a Wurmple. She also had a Skitty, a Venusaur, a Wartortle, a Munchlax, and finally, a Glaceon.
Ten years later, it's time for the grown girls' first date; first, beautiful Dawn answers the call of springtime.
Dawn came out of her house, with her Piplup on her head, and soon, she saw her boyfriend, a chestnut-haired boy with black eyes, wearing green clothing. He was standing outside on the driveway, and he had a backpack on his back, and he smiled, as soon as he saw Dawn. The boy was her childhood friend, Kenny, from next door.
"Hey, Dawn, you ready?" Kenny asked.
"Coming!" Dawn said, as she locked hands with Kenny, who then led Dawn on a date.
May, who was at Dawn's house, watched sadly, as May had been waiting for her turn to get a boy to fall for her to come.
'Dawn always gets the guys… What about me?' May thought, as she felt horrible.
Unfortunately, she had yet to attract anyone boy's attention. Caroline told her it was because she had her Blaziken. May and Dawn both agreed that the physical beauty of someone's Pokémon should not be the indicator of how high quality a girl was.
May sighed, pushing the thought out of her mind. May decided to just give it a shot and left the house; she closed the door after crossing the threshold, and she felt more courage to try and get herself a date.
And, the cute, and lovely May, Dawn's best friend.
She then stood out in the open, with her Blaziken at her side, and she looked around. Soon, a cute boy with sleek, brown hair, and amber eyes came around, and took note of May.
May smiled, waved a little bit, and she said, "Hello…"
The boy took off, scared, as he saw how powerful and how strong May's Blaziken was. Just as the social norms were, a girl's quality and eligibility were based on the beauty of her Pokémon. And since Blaziken obviously did not fall under that category, it was assumed May would never be able to get a boyfriend.
Seeing the boy dash away, May started shedding tears, as she felt that there was no hope. She started crying sadly, and she felt awful, but she had no regrets about her Blaziken.
Oh, May… I guess spring doesn't mean anything to you.
Meanwhile, at the ports, a new boat came in, and it read, "Beautiful LaRousse". It was a boat that came from LaRousse City, also in the Hoenn Region. It was bringing in new cargo, but also an unexpected guest.
There was singing coming form inside the boat. The voice belonged to an adolescent male, who was singing, "I've sailed from LaRousse City, on a journey of love."
The male voice was still singing, and then there was a man on the deck, trying to help unload the cargo. As a lift was pulling a box up, green fumes were rising up from the opening of the cargo hold, and then the man in charge smelled the fumes; the singer was revealed to be a boy around May's age, with green eyes and green hair, but he had very bad body odor.
"Oh, my God! That horrible smell is coming from that boy! Pew! Abandon ship! PEW!" The deck hand shouted, and then he fled.
"Pew! Pew! Pew!" Everyone on the dock shouted, as they all leaped off the boat, into the water, or on the dock.
"You're getting my name wrong! It's not "Pew" - Drew. Drew Hayden." Drew said, as he then hopped off the crate he was riding on, while looking around, lifting his arms.
May, on the other hand, was sitting on a bench and was feeling very down on her luck; she was passed up yet again as a potential girlfriend, and she was crying softly, feeling like there was no hope for her.
She had her Blaziken next to her at the bench, and it was looking at May in concern; Blaziken hated seeing its partner feeling down on herself like that.
"Oh, Blaziken… Is there no hope for me? Will I never get a boyfriend?" May said, as wiped some tears from her eyes.
Drew was walking around and looking for a girl, but almost every one had a boyfriend with her, so he left them alone. However, he soon started to lose confidence.
"May, don't lose hope! Look over there; a new boy has come to town!"
Blaziken took note of Drew, and then tapped May on the shoulder. Blaziken got May's attention and then it pointed in Drew's direction. May ]saw Drew coming, and she stood up, as she did not recognize him from anywhere.
She smiled, squealed, and giggled a little bit; hearts flew out of her face like ripples on a pond and she waved at Drew, happily, trying to get his attention.
Drew immediately noticed May, and he stopped in his tracks, saying, "What's this? Ah, what a lovely young girl."
May then ran at Drew, eager to finally find romance, and Drew, seeing how he found love, took off over to May, shouting, "Viva Petalburg City!"
May kept running towards Drew, and Drew opened his arms out to May, and then once they were close, May was lifted up by Drew, and she was spun around, happy to see someone had interest in her.
"This must be it!" Drew said, as he then had May in his arms, and May was resting her head on his chest.
"Hi there. My name is May." May said, introducing herself, as she felt really happy.
"I'm Drew Hayden." Drew said, as he then started turning on the love.
Drew then started kissing May over and over on the cheek, saying, "Oh, my day of romance has finally come!"
Drew kissed May on the cheek a few times, and as May listened to Drew, she felt really happy about the affection she was missing out on; she thought, 'Oh, this guy really likes me. He may be new in town, but he doesn't care that I have my Blaziken. How sweet.'
However, her facial expression turned to mild disgust, as she smelled Drew's body odor, and then she turned green in the face, thinking, 'Ew… Does this guy ever bathe?'
May started coughing a bit and then she started to wriggle out of Drew's arms, but Drew kept kissing her on the cheek, saying, "We'll sail the ocean of romance together…"
Drew kissed May on the cheek a few more times, but May got out of Drew's embrace and took off, causing him to be confused; he shouted, "Where are you going?!"
May ran and hid behind a tree in the park, and she started panting and breathing heavily, before saying, "Oh, man… Just when I find my chance, there's a monkey wrench in the mix: his body odor! How do I cope with that and still be his girl?"
May saw Dawn and Kenny on the bench, being romantic with each other, and nuzzling each other's faces while sharing some ice cream. Hearts were flying off their heads, and May sighed, in jealousy. She sat down sadly, thinking that things will be like before: she would be the one who was meant to be alone forever.
"No…! I don't want the others to think I'm incapable of finding a boyfriend!" May said, in determination, as she grew motivated. "I won't let that happen."
"May, my love! Where are you?" Drew shouted.
May then looked behind the tree and saw Drew looking around for May. She blushed at the sight of him, but she could smell his body odor from her hiding place.
"Where are you, my little candy of chocolate?" Drew said, as he was looking for May in the park. "Your sweet caramel filling is oozing for you!"
"Here it goes!" May said, as she then took a deep breath, and held it.
Drew then came near the tree where May was hiding, and she came out, her breath still being held, and then flirtatiously smiled and waved at Drew.
Drew saw her, and then he clicked his tongue twice while saying, "It's true what they say about when desire turns to fancy for a girl!"
Drew dashed over to May, scooped her into a hug, and then started smothering her in cheek kisses while May still held her breath. Drew told May, "You will be my blushing belle…"
Drew then noticed the redness in May's face, but it was from holding her breath, not the happiness and love she was feeling at the moment.
"Oh, that's sweet," Drew said, as he caressed May's cheek. "You're blushing, just for me."
Drew locked arms with May, who smiled and kept her breath held. She could not breath, yet she held it to make sure her chance at love came; Drew said, "Sweetheart, you're going to love LaRousse City."
May tried not to release her breath, even though she was out of air, trying to hold it; Drew said, "We'll battle together in The Battle Tower as a couple."
May did not reply; her face was changing colors as she was running out of her air supply, and quickly.
"Oh, and the parks and such, I can see it right now!" Drew said, as he was blushing out of love for May.
May collapsed to the ground, on her knees, and was struggling to hold her breath; Drew was looking up in the sky, in fantasy.
'May, don't let something like breathing stand in the way of love!' May thought, as she then released her breath and then her diaphragm reduced in size.
As May got some air in, she smelled Drew's body stink again and she took off, causing Drew confusion. Drew shouted after her, "Hey, May! Wait up!"
May dashed into town, thinking, 'Oh, man, oh, man, that guy STINKS! I got to find a way to get rid of his stink.'
May then flew into the market, where there were shops everywhere; May rested against a column of a building and then she relaxed, catching her breath. She then said out loud, "I love Drew… but I can't stay near him without gagging from his stink… If only there was a way to get rid of it."
"Where are you, my blooming flower?" Drew called, from a distance.
May then noticed the perfume shop she was next to, and she smiled, before running inside, saying out loud, "I have an idea!"
Drew then came by a few minutes later, looking around for May, before saying, "Come to me, my little strawberry."
'Here goes nothing!' May thought, as she heard Drew's voice, while looking around in the men's cologne section of the shop.
"May! My love!" Drew said, as he looked around for May.
May silently came from behind and then, taking out a bottle of men's cologne, she sprayed it at Drew's underarm. However, it seemed the stench literally had a mind of its own; it leaped out and scared the perfume back into the bottle, literally.
"Oh, no…" May said, discouraged. May took off, freaked out; she ran off from the scene, feeling discouraged. 'Oh, woe… Will I never be able to stay with him without throwing up?'
"Huh?" Drew said, as he saw May's retreating figure; he grew sad, as he saw her run away from him. He was getting ready to take off after May once again, not ready to give up the chase for love. He rolled up his sleeve, and lifted his arm a little bit. This led to the smell starting to worsen.
An older woman then walked by Drew, minding her own business, but then when she got a nose full of his body odor, she shouted, "Agh! PEW!"
"Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew!" People shouted, as they ran off from Drew's horrible body odor, away from the marketplace. Drew was confused by how many people were fleeing just because he was there. He was totally oblivious to the fact that he stunk.
Drew's face became serious; he noticed bookstand that had dictionaries and thesauruses, and he walked over to the stand, saying, "I just HAVE to find out what this word… "Pew" means; they always shout it whenever I come around! I don't know what they're talking about..."
Drew found a large dictionary, and was reading through the 'P' section of the book. He diligently paid attention for the right word, and then he thought, 'If I can figure out what that word means, then I can possibly fix the issue and then finally make May mine!'
Drew soon found the word; he said, "Aha! Here it is: pew. It's an adjective that…"
However, his green hair stood on end when he read the entire definition of the word. He then looked up from the book, his eyes wide with shock, saying, "No… No! Not me! That's the most ridiculous thing ever…!"
Drew left the stand in complete surprise and shock, as it never occurred to him that he was stinky. He was saying, "It's impossible; I don't stink!"
Drew then walked past a Rattata that came out of a sewer hole, and Drew said, "No pew! I don't stink!"
Rattata sniffed a few times, and then its eyes rolled back before it fell back into the sewer, before shouting, "PEE-EW!"
Seeing this, Drew slapped himself in the face, and started sobbing out of distress. He told himself, "It's true… I really do stink…"
Drew felt really upset once he realized the facts: he had a body odor problem, which drove away his chance at love.
"What am I going to do?" Drew said, as he was walking, and his body odor caused flowers to wilt as he walked past them. "I'll never get May if I can't get rid of my body odor."
Drew soon found himself in front of a men's cologne and deodorant store. Seeing it, he had newfound courage to get rid of his problem.
"For May, I'll get myself all prepared!" Drew said, as he then ran inside the store.
The door was shut and he tried on deodorant and colognes of all kinds, to make sure he had the right scent to get rid of his own body odor, and win May over.
Meanwhile, May was crying while sitting on the dock, as she felt like all hope was lost where love concerned. She felt really upset.
"Will I never get a boyfriend?" May said, sobbing.
Drew came out of the deodorant and cologne store, smelling fresh, and not one hint of odor on him. He was running to find May, determined to win her over.
May was walking home, sadly, still crying. She felt heartbroken; Drew had walked out on her, and yet again, she was rejected… Or so she thought. Drew came around the corner of the street, and once he saw May, he smiled; he had found her, and he was prepared to turn on the charm to full power this time. He ate a breath mint and then did a breath check.
"Baby doll!" Drew called out to May, and opened his arms.
May, seeing him, took a step back, but not smelling his odor, she smiled, and then she ran right into Drew's arms, shouting, "Drew!"
Drew then lifted May up in his arms and they spun around before sharing a kiss. Drew and May then hugged, and then Drew said, "I'm so happy that you've come back to me!"
"I would have stayed with you for longer periods of time, but… You sort of…" May said, trying to get the words out appropriately.
"Had a body odor problem?" Drew said for May. "I know."
"How did you know without me saying anything?" May inquired.
"For some reason, every time I came around in public, people ran off, shouting, 'Pew' several times. I hadn't a clue what they were talking about, so I looked it up in the dictionary. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. I was utterly shocked; for a while, I was in denial, but when I walked by a rattata, and it fainted from my smell, I faced facts: I stunk." Drew said.
May then kissed Drew once more; she finally got a boyfriend, something that her own mother said that was unlikely due to her Blaziken.
"How about we go on an actual date?" Drew asked, caressing May's cheek.
"Yes! Yes, please!" May said, as she hugged Drew once more.
Drew and May then shared one more kiss before walking off to the park for a real date.
Both teenagers were very happy to find love with each other, and before they made it to the park, Drew dipped May down before kissing her on the lips; May kissed back while hugging Drew by the neck, and then Drew pulled May back up before she said, "Would you believe until you came along, boys never gave me a second glance?"
"No, I wouldn't," Drew said. "But I'm glad that I'm the first one who has."
Drew and May then hugged again before they started holding hands and walking to the park.
How was that? Longer than the last chapter, that I know, but I hope you liked it. I may do "Hey Juliet" next, or something out of what I did for Chapter 3. Hope you can give me some extra oomph!
