A/N: Update 11
I woke up with splitting headache. I had a vague memory of what had happened the previous night. I began to sit up, but felt nauseated. My head was pounding. I reached up to touch my head. There was a large bump surrounded by tender bruising skin. I looked around at my surroundings, wondering where in the world I was.
I was in a bedroom. It was really small, but cozy. The bed was incredibly soft, and there was a nightstand next to it with a lamp and a paper folded neatly. The paper had my name written on it. I gingerly leaned forward and read the note:
Peter,
After you read this, go ahead and come out. I'll be waiting outside the
door for you. We'll explain everything in the Captain's Quarters.
Love,
Winnie
Captain's Quarters? Where in God's name am I? I thought. I placed the note back on the nightstand. I hesitated to get up. I knew that it would be painful, but I had to get out of this room. I stood up immediately feeling sick to my stomach. The floor seemed to sway beneath me. I took a deep breath and walked out of the tiny bedroom. Curled up on the floor was Wendy, sleeping.
"Wen, err, Winnie," I whispered. It was going to be hard to keep her names straight. "Wake up."
Her eyes fluttered opened and she smiled at me. "Good morning, Peter. I hope you slept okay."
"Okay? Your dad hit me in the head with a baseball bat. I've been passed out, and now I have a huge goose egg on my head! Winnie, what is going on?"
Winnie stood up and looked frightened. "A goose egg? My dad would never hurt anyone. I have no idea what's going on. Daddy said he needed your help with something. Just come upstairs, we'll explain everything over breakfast." She grabbed for my hand, and at first I tried to pull away, but Winnie said, "Peter, please don't be this way. I'm not any different. I'm still the same girl. I had no idea what my dad's plans were. When he told me to befriend you, I thought he just wanted me to meet new people. I'm really sorry, Peter. I really care about you, and I know that you care about me."
My face softened, and I let her intertwine our fingers. I knew she meant no harm. This was Wendy, my Wendy. If only she would remember.
I followed Winnie as she led me through tight corridors and up a flight of stairs. She opened the door and I gasped. We were on Captain Hook's ship, the Jolly Roger. We were out in the middle of the ocean. There was no land in sight. I shouldn't have been too surprised. But the thought that I was nowhere near civilization scared me. No one would be able to help me. And Slightly was going to kill me. He lived for proving me wrong.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Winnie said interrupting my thoughts. All I could do was nod. She continued to lead me around to the Captain's Quarters. She opened the door and Hook, Smee, and Nibs were all sitting at the table, that was full of pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, and any other breakfast food you could possibly imagine.
"Glad you decided to join us, Peter," Hook greeted me with a crooked smile and a chuckle.
"Hook," I replied. "It's such a pleasure to see you again." My voice dripped with sarcasm.
"Sit down boy, sit down. It's been a rough night for you. I'm sure you're starving."
Winnie squeezed my hand before letting go. She went to sit down. She patted the chair next to her, motioning me to sit by her. I quickly moved and sat down, avoiding any more conversation with Hook.
"Dig in, everyone," Smee said. "I made everything nice and fresh this morning. I hope you like it."
Everybody started scooping food onto their plates, but I just sat there, arms crossed. I was starving, but in my defiance, I refused to eat. My head was still throbbing with every movement, and the rocking of the ship didn't help.
Winnie placed her hand on my leg. "Are you okay, Peter? You look sick. You should try and eat something."
"Yes, Peter, eat. You must be hungry," Hook grinned slyly, cocking one eyebrow.
You could cut the tension in the room with a knife. Everyone waited for me to do or say something. I reached for a biscuit and took a bite out of it all the while not breaking eye contact with Hook. Hook smiled and everyone continued to enjoy their breakfast.
"So, Peter," Hook started. "How long have you lived in Huntington Beach?"
"Cut the crap, Hook. Where are you taking me?" I responded.
"Well, if you're not going to act like a civilized young man, perhaps I should not tell you."
"Hook, seriously?" I rolled my eyes. He sat there waiting. I sighed. "Could you please tell me where you are taking me?"
"Why of course, boy! We are headed to a wonderful place. An island if you must know. It's very lush and green. There's a dense forest, and a blue lagoon. Have you guessed yet, boy? We're headed back to Neverland!"
"Neverland?! Really, Daddy?" Winnie squealed. "We haven't been back there in a really long time."
"I know, dear," Hook replied. He had a genuine-looking smile on his face. "Peter and I have some business to take care of there." Hook glanced over at me. "We can go over the details after breakfast. Alone."
I glowered at him. If he thought that I was going to help him with whatever it was he needed, he was crazy.
Winnie chattered on about Neverland for the rest of breakfast. As everyone finished, they slowly began to leave and headed to wherever else on the ship. As Winnie stood up she whispered in my ear, "Come find me when you and my dad are done talking." She tugged on my earlobe as she turned to leave. I took a sharp breath and inhaled a piece of the biscuit I was eating. I started coughing. I could feel my face turning red, I was so embarrassed. Winnie giggled as she closed the door to the Captain's Quarters.
"Slow it down there, Pan. I need you alive for this!" Hook stated.
As I slowly got my breathing back under control I said, "Alright, Hook. What the hell do you want with me?"
"Listen, you little brat. The island is dying. Everything has started aging since you left. It's very gradual, hardly noticeable at first, but you've got something to do with it. I need you so that I can figure out what it is about you that keeps the island youthful," Hook explained to me.
"And what makes you think that I'll help you?" I questioned.
Hook smirked. "You help me, and Wendy is yours."
"How did you know that I knew she was Wendy?" I hesitated.
"Oh please. Are you serious, Pan? Your little friend Nibs has been helping me out from the start. He was merely a part of the plan last night to kidnap you. He was a great little distraction so that I could get into your room," Hook laughed.
My heart sank. Nibs had betrayed me. I'd have to deal with that later. Right now, I was dealing with Hook. "So, what if I don't help you?"
"Well, I guess your precious Wendy will be no more. It's up to you, really. She's done her job for me: luring you into my trap. I could get rid of her now, even. It wouldn't make a difference to me," Hook eyed me, testing me. He knew that I would never risk Wendy's life.
This wasn't fair. I'd finally found her after years of searching, and now Hook was forcing me to help him in order for me to be with her. I had to buy some time.
"I'll do it," I said quietly. "I'll help you. Just, don't hurt Wendy, please."
Hook smiled. "I do believe we have a deal," He agreed holding out his good hand to shake on it. I took his hand, not looking at him and we shook on it. Hook chuckling because he knew he had me.
I stood up to leave and Hook led me to the door.
"Oh, and Peter," Hook mused. I turned around. "Just a small reminder of what I'm capable of if you choose to betray me:" He took his hook and dug it into my arm creating a giant cut. I winced at the pain. "Have a nice day," Hook smirked.
