Here's a funny one - this one is based on the Pucca episode "Evil Love", but this time, the one victim of Cupid - or Luvdisc in this case - is Drew! But rather than Drew falling in love with May, his dormant feelings for May are woken up, that's the catch here. Hope you all like it! I know it's going to be funny.
It was a beautiful day in Petalburg City; there were Pokémon flying in the sky and running around the city, all happy and such. Pokémon were swimming in the waters, as well. The peace was nice and high, and no one was angry or upset, which was a very good thing in the city. Petalburg City was home to the Petalburg City Gym, which was famous for having the Gym Leader, Norman, as a celebrity.
The sun was shinning, and there was nary a cloud in the sky. There seemed like nothing could spoil the day, but little did they know that something was about to be thrown off-balance. A lone Luvdisc was swimming up a stream near an outdoor restaurant cafe, minding its own business. The Luvdisc soon made its way to a pond and met up with two of its friends: a Poliwag, and Remoraid.
"What a day…" Luvdisc complained, in Poké-speak. "My fins are killing me…"
"What fins?" Poliwag said. "I've got only one fin, and it's sort of tired out from long distance swims."
"I'd like to see either of you swim downstream pre-evolution…" Remoraid complained.
"At least you two aren't renowned for being something of a Cupid for both Pokémon and people," Luvdisc said, a little more indignant. "Every time a pair sees me, they're under the impression that I'm going to give them eternal bliss for them…"
"What a pain…" Remoraid and Poliwag said in response.
Meanwhile, at a table nearby, there was a pair of trainers sitting together. One was a boy; he had chestnut-brown hair and black eyes, and he was sitting next to a girl with dark blue hair and matching eyes. They were sharing some sodas together, and were smiling.
"This is really nice, isn't it, Kenny?" The girl asked, as she was holding the boy's hand.
"It sure is, Dawn." The boy, Kenny replied.
"I'm just happy to know that we're here on a nice, peaceful day," Dawn said, as she giggled. "Oh, look, there's May over there."
Dawn pointed over to another table and saw a girl with brown hair and blue eyes, wearing a red bandana, and red clothing, eating some ice cream, and drinking some lemonade.
"She seems a little down." Kenny stated.
"Must have had another run-in with Drew…" Dawn said, sweat dropping.
"Drew again?" Kenny asked.
Drew was May's main rival in Pokémon Contests. Drew would often tease May with taunts and insults about her ability as a Coordinator, but May had beaten him in battle a few times. It was just one of the things that fueled the fire of their rivalry. What Dawn and Kenny knew was that Drew and May saw each other as more than just rivals, albeit both teens could argue to the contrary.
"Drew made fun of May's appeals…" Dawn said.
"Again?!" Kenny asked. "How many times is that, now?"
"I lost count after fifty…" Dawn said, sweat dropping.
Immediately afterwords, a boy around May's age came in. His hair was green, as was his emerald-green eyes. He was wearing a purple jacket over a black shirt and turquoise pants, and black shoes. He flipped his fringe out of his face, smirked, and said, "I'm here for the afternoon special."
"Tch… Drew." May muttered, rolling her eyes, and she went back to eating.
Drew started to walk over to a table across from May; in fact, it did not seem like he noticed her. Drew sat down at a table and he started to look at the menu; he was sort of absorbed in the menu like some maniac, as he felt hungry.
The Luvdisc saw the dormant romance that was in Drew's heart. It looked over to Drew and using its eyes, it saw that there was a dormant seed of love in Drew's heart, and it got active with May around.
"Time for me to play Cupid!" Luvdisc sang, happily.
"What?" Remoraid asked. "I thought you didn't do that sort of thing."
"Just because I hate my rep for it doesn't mean I won't take advantage of it!" Luvdisc sand, as it swam through the water to go behind Drew.
Drew was looking up from the menu to May, only to see her for a second; he blushed for a second before looking back down on the menu again, trying to refocus himself.
May had finished her ice cream, but she was still hungry, so she decided to look at the menu and see what else she could eat that would satisfy her stomach.
Drew looked back to his menu, but soon, Luvdisc jumped out of the water, and then it shouted, "Attract!"
Luvdisc winked, and pink heart outlines with sparkles came out of its eye. Drew did not notice as the hearts circled him, and then they grew bigger before shrinking into him, causing Drew to flash pink.
Drew shook his head before looking up and his eyes were immediately on May. He saw her sparkling, as she was looking at the menu still. His eyebrows twitched up a little bit; in his chest, his heart throbbed slightly. Drew's eyebrows twitched again, before feeling his heart throbbing twice, a little harder. Then it was a third time his eyebrows went up, and then his heart was throbbing more while he felt his face heat up.
'Wait, what?! Why is my heart throbbing like this?!' Drew thought, as he went red in the face and kept his head down for a second. However, the next thing he knew, he ended up standing up and not even knowing it.
May looked at her menu once more and then she muttered, "That parfait looks good…"
"And… You look good, too." Drew said, from beside May.
May, in surprise, looked in the direction of the voice and saw it was a tomato-red-faced Drew, who looked like he was struggling to talk and his body language was that of someone in love. She was very confused, and she said, "Eh?"
"My… My heart is just throbbing at how c-cute you are today," Drew said, but then realized what he did; he backed off and slapped his cheeks. "What? What did I just say?!"
May was looking at Drew in confusion, and she asked, "Drew, are you okay? You're redder than a Corphish."
She waved her hand in front of his face, and even touched his forehead; at her touch, Drew's face went from red to scarlet in color. Dawn and Kenny had seen this and they were confused at what was going on.
"Um… Nobody heard a thing! Understand?!" Drew shouted; he slammed down the price for his meal and ran out the door, feeling really embarrassed.
"What was that about?" Dawn asked Kenny; Kenny shrugged.
"Okay… I've never seen this side of Drew before…" May said, completely confused. "How weird…"
Kenny and Dawn were looking at each other in confusion, as well; they had no clue what had gotten into Drew.
Back with Luvdisc, it had gone back to its friends and after rising out of the water, it said, "Mission accomplished! I woke up that boy's inner emotions for the girl!"
"Are you sure this won't lead into hilarity ensuing?" Poliwag asked.
"Even if it does, it will only be a laugh for me." Luvdisc said, before laughing.
Poliwag and Remoraid merely looked at one another in mild discomfort.
Back with Drew, he was training his Pokémon for future Contests, but his mind kept wandering to his behavior towards May at the restaurant; he was utterly confused at what had happened and what he did.
His Pokémon, which consisted of his Roserade, a Masquerain, an Absol, a Flygon, and a Butterfree, were using moves, running around, and practicing for their future performances, but they did not fail in picking up on Drew's state of mind; they knew something was up.
"What happened to me back there? I don't get it; what came over me?" Drew asked himself, as he held his head in his hands, anxious and confused. He soon looked up, and shook off his head's thoughts.
He was writing something in the ground with his feet, involuntarily, and he said, "I need to focus on winning my next Pokémon Contest!"
However, he looked down, and jumped back when he realized he had drawn May's face in the dirt; almost as if it were alive, his dirt picture blinked sweetly while saying, "Hi, Drew."
"I'm feeling strange inside…" Drew said, as he ruffled his hair. Looking up, his green eyes had transparent hearts throbbing inside them, and he felt really odd. "My… Heart is throbbing… What's going… On?!"
Drew's head started swirling; he found himself running away from what seemed to be an avalanche of hearts, and he was looking pretty spooked. The hearts had cute, blue eyes, just like May's, and they were all giggling and smiling.
Drew soon found that he had run into a dead end and he was covered in the hearts at the next second. The hearts were covering him and giggling with smiles and cute blushes on their rounded cheeks.
"Hi, Drew! Hi, Drew! Hi, Drew! Hi, Drew!" The hearts kept saying, over and over, and Drew did his best to swat them off.
"Get away from me!" Drew shouted, as he ran off in another direction; he ran over two hills that formed a large, red heart.
On a screen of hearts, May's head was in the background, saying, "Hi, Drew."
Drew ran over the hills, but he fell on top of a heart; he sank in and started falling down, shouting, "NO!"
Drew opened his eyes and held onto his head while staggering around, trying to control himself and keep himself from getting hurt; he tripped over the bench leg and stumbled a bit, and he ran into the Pokémon bird bath.
"I gotta hold it together! I can't hold back my feelings!" Drew shouted, as he kept staggering about; his Pokémon were looking at him in worry as they saw their trainer knocking things over and trying to keep himself under control.
"I. Need. To. Focus." Drew said, as his face changed colors while he was sweating.
"Oh, there you are, Drew," May said, from the side; May was running over to his side, and she soon stopped in front of him. "I've been looking for you."
"Y-You have?!" Drew said, as his face went red and he smiled.
"Yes," May said, her face held concern. "I was worried about you. Are you feeling better?"
Drew lost all control of himself and he said, "Yes, now… Now that you're here with me."
May sweat dropped, before asking, "Is that so?"
"Yes!" Drew said, as he took May's hand. 'This feels SO good…'
"Drew, what's gotten into you?" May asked, as she looked down, a solemn look on her face.
Drew was sort of lost for words at that point, but then he asked, "Want… To go on a date?"
"Pardon?!" May asked; she thought about it for a few seconds, and then shrugged. "Um… Okay."
"Great!" Drew said, as he held May's hand a little tighter. May felt herself blush.
Drew saw his Pokémon staring at the scene, and then he shouted, "What are you looking at?! Can't you see a belle's present? Back in your balls!"
Drew put his Pokémon back in their Poké Balls, but they were all pretty confused by this sudden change in attitude from their trainer.
"Drew…" May began, but a finger was put to her lips.
"Will you join me for a day on the town, my… sweet?" Drew said, blushing profusely.
"Oh, Drew… I've never seen this… Romantic side of you." May said, as she started to smile at Drew's behavior.
'Yes! But… Why am I acting like this?' Drew thought, feeling really good.
May and Drew were walking through the city, and all eyes were on them; they thought Drew and May had completely flipped their script, as they were under the impression that they hated each other.
'Why is Drew acting this way? This isn't like him…' May thought, as she looked at Drew, who was blushing profusely and trying his best not to screw things up.
'Come on, Drew… May's not really enjoying this right now. I can tell by her facial expression…' Drew thought, as he looked over and saw May with a slightly uncomfortable look on her face.
He saw a big, colorful candy store, and getting an idea, he told May, "Wait here for a minute."
He ran into the store, causing May to become confused; she looked at Drew from behind and she said to herself, "This is completely out of character for him… Since when did he even have feelings for me?"
Luvdisc, in a nearby stream, rose up out of the water and saw what was going on. It snickered before diving back down.
Drew came out of the store with a red, heart-shaped box of chocolates for May. He walked back over to May, and he gave them to her, saying, "I got the best kind they had."
"These are so expensive… You didn't have to…" May said, but she trailed off when she saw the light of sincerity and love in Drew's eyes. She blushed in response.
Taking her hand again, he kept walking with her, trying to make sure that May knew how he felt about her, but even he totally forgot what he was doing. Luvdisc, witnessing this, snickered again before diving back into the water to go and follow the pair to make sure things went right.
May looked in another direction and saw a beautiful flower garden; seeing where May's line of sight went, Drew started to drag May over to the garden, and they started to stand in the flowers.
"This is beautiful…" May said, her eyes lighting up at the sight of all of the bright colors of the flowers.
"I can do better than these flowers," Drew said, as he took out a Poké Ball. "Roserade, help me out!"
Drew sent out his Roserade, and May was looking at Drew in confusion; she was quite confused as to what Drew was doing, and she merely started to watch as Drew was starting to get his little display together.
"Roserade, Petal Dance!" Drew declared.
Roserade started to spin rapidly as sparkling, pink rose petals were released from its red and blue flower bouquet hands. The petals fell all over May, and she was looking at Drew with a shine in her eyes that Drew was hoping she would show him.
"Now, Magical Leaf!" Drew shouted.
Roserade started firing green leaves with a strange aura around them, and soon, they all came together into one large bouquet of flowers, which landed in May's arms.
"Wow… That was so romantic…" May said, as she blushed, before smiling at Drew. "You're the best, Drew."
Drew smiled in response and took May's hand before telling her, "No, you're the best."
Dawn and Kenny were sitting on a bench, talking about their latest appeal ideas for their next Pokémon Contest, but Kenny saw May and Drew holding hands and walking; he tapped May on the shoulder, and said, "Hey, are you seeing what I'm seeing, Dawn?"
Dawn saw exactly what Kenny was talking about, and she said, "Is that…?!"
Kenny nodded, and then they ran over to the pair; Kenny, having an idea, asked, "Hey, Drew, want to battle?"
Drew hugged May by the shoulder before telling Kenny, "Sorry Ken-ster, that might have to wait for later; I'm on a date."
Kenny and Dawn looked at each other as they watched their friends leave on their way; Kenny said, "Did he just call me 'Ken-ster'? That's flipping the script…"
Drew sat May down on a bench and held on to her hand as they were gazing into each other's eyes, albeit May was more shy. Seeing some roller-skaters, Drew smiled, and led May over to a roller-skate rental stand and the pair started to skate together; May had some trouble getting her balance, but Drew was actually quite chivalrous in helping her out. This caused May to smile, and she felt her heart throb a bit.
"Oh, Drew…" May said, as Drew helped her up; he smiled.
After their skating session was done, Drew saw a dress shop, and he told May, "I'll get a dress for you."
"Oh, no thank you," May insisted. "I don't think I'll need that."
"Come on," Drew insisted. "You're going to need it if you're going to go for the Sinnoh Contests."
Drew was right; Sinnoh Pokémon Contests were always a formal event.
"You're right…" May said; Drew dragged May inside the shop, but May was quite uncomfortable with the situation.
May came out wearing a red ballroom gown with ruffled, layered fabric. It had a sweetheart neckline and it was accompanied by ruby jewelry that was there for modeling purposes.
"Beautiful…" Drew said, his eyes sparkling.
"Are you sure it isn't… Too much?" May asked. "The Pokémon are the stars of the show, not the Coordinator."
"That's true," Drew said. "Let's try some other styles."
After what seemed like ten outfits, when it was only three, May and Drew picked out the right dress, and they left the store, hand-in-hand, and smiling with each other. May seemed to be charmed by Drew's sudden change in attitude.
"This is so sweet of you, Drew," May said. "I never thought you felt this way about me…"
"Still uncertain?" Drew asked, with a smile and a wink.
"Yes…" May asked.
"Then I'll prove it to you!" Drew said, passionate, and he dragged May to yet another destination - a Karaoke joint.
"K-Karaoke? I didn't know you could sing…" May said, surprised.
"It doesn't pay to advertise when annoying fan girls are always around you, but I know you're not one of them." Drew explained, as he went red in the face and held May's hand closer to him.
Bringing her into the building, Drew sat May down at a table that was a front-row seat to the stage; Drew came up onto the stage, and he took the microphone in his hand. He cleared his throat and flipped the fringe out of his face again. May grit her teeth without showing when she saw this; it was Drew's trademark that she found a little annoying.
"This song is an original that I'm going to sing out for my special girl," Drew said, making sure he made eye contact with May. "And she's sitting right in front of me."
May blushed red as she saw Drew do this.
Clearing his throat, Drew began to sing, and he really let his talent for music shine through.
"You're a… Clumsy little lady… But you're MY clumsy lady… And I wouldn't take you any other way!" Drew sang, as he made eye contact with May; she blushed as she was moved by how good Drew was at singing.
Drew and May were walking home together, with Drew holding on to May's hand, and still feeling so happy to be with May. Drew felt his heart throb once he realized something: he was head-over-heels for May.
Stopping, Drew pulled May into his embrace, and held her by her shoulders. He forced May to look him in the eye, and he muttered, "May…"
May went red in the face, as she was worried about what Drew was going to do to her. Drew, his eyes half-lidded, and his face red, started to lean in to May's face, and he was getting ready to kiss her.
'Now to give her a kiss…' Drew thought, as he brought up the courage to kiss May.
May, on the other hand, was a bit scared; just as Drew's lips were about a centimeter from hers, she used her hands and pushed Drew away, before backing up.
"May?" Drew asked, as he saw May was a little scared.
"Drew… Why are you acting like this?" May asked aloud. "I don't know whether or not you're kidding around, but for you to act like this is completely out of character…"
May was on the verge of crying, as she felt nothing put pure confusion.
"Why? Because I like you." Drew said, as if it was the most natural thing.
"Do you really?" May asked, skeptical. "You've been citing weird all day. Well, since the restaurant, actually. I'm wondering whether or not this… This is a joke!"
"What are you talking about?" Drew asked.
"The joke's run thin, Drew," May said. "Thank you for today, but… Quit yanking my chain, will you?!"
May ran off in tears, her head in a whirlwind, and Drew was left standing, in complete shock that the girl he loved had left him behind.
Luvdisc had seen everything, and saw that while May did have feelings for Drew, because he flipped his script so abruptly, she was totally throne for a loop.
"Alright, time to explain things to the girl." Luvdisc declared, as it dove back under the water to follow May.
May had found her way to a bench on the route she was running in and she was sobbing on the bench in confusion.
"What is going on with Drew? He never acted like this before with me in the past." May said.
"It's my doing." Luvdisc said, as it popped out of the water. "I'm the one who helped start things up."
"What do you mean?" May asked the Luvdisc.
"I used my Attract on Drew." Luvdisc explained.
"I knew it…" May said, as she started to cry again. "Drew's behavior has been nothing less than a joke!"
"Actually, no," Luvdisc explained. "Drew has always had feelings for you; all I did was make them wake up."
"Pardon?" May inquired, looking for clarification.
"Long story short, Drew's feelings for you were so small that he didn't notice at first, and so it took my Attract to make them get bigger to help you two get closer. Sort of like watering a seed and making it grow." Luvdisc elaborated.
"So… Drew's feelings for me are genuine?" May asked, as her tears were flowing down her face.
"They sure are," Luvdisc said. "Albeit I think that maybe you should tell it to him."
May saw Drew running towards her; she stood up, with a pretty sad look on her face, kept her eyes averted and her head down.
"May, I've been looking for you everywhere!" Drew said, as he caught up with May; he hugged her once again, and May blushed as she felt her heart speed up.
"I'm… Sorry." May said, as her tears kept falling.
"Please, no more tears…" Drew said, as he loosened his hold on May. "I love you…"
May and Drew shared a kiss, and then the scene changed; there was a ten-year gap, and now May and Drew were in white wedding clothing, and they had just sealed their vow with a kiss. They had just gotten married.
"I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Drew Hayden!" The priest said, as she finally sealed the promise.
May and Drew were then running down the aisle and into a limousine with everyone throwing flower petals at them.
Overall, it was a happily-ever-after with May and Drew.
I hope you all liked this one! There's going to be another Pucca-shot with this story in the near future.
