Welcome back! Enjoy

"I've been sleeping with the lights on
Cause the darkness is surrounding you, This is my world, this is my choice and you're the drug that gets me through."

Miranda peered through the door of shepard's bedroom. She always took in the room like it had been some sacred temple that only the specialist people were allowed to see, however, that was just Miranda's imagination due to the fact that tons of people had probably been in and out the room as if it was nothing, which it was.

It was so warm and welcoming, she had pictures of her and her friends that must have been from years ago when Miranda didn't even know Shepard existed, of course there was pictures of Miranda but all of them she had hated, Shepard took joy in taking them all at random moments when Miranda would be looking off into the distance or just laughing and smiling. Miranda had pled to Shepard on multiple occasions for her to take a picture when she was actually ready but her girlfriend would always say: Where's the life in something that's fake? Shepard was cheesy like that.

She also had posters of blasto and other video games she had been playing when Miranda came over. She would always beg Miranda to play and of course she did, even though she didn't know how to play and knew losing was inevitable against someone who sleeps, breath and eats video games, they would play for hours until the sun came peeking through the window, laughing and talking shit about how horrible the other one was.

She watched Shepard dreamingly as the blonde nodded her head up and down to the music in her headphones. She wrote down on the note pad in front of her, stopping every moment to strum her guitar.

Miranda leaned on the wall behind her girlfriend, she didn't even know Miranda was watching her, studying her ever move. Miranda was a creeper like that.

"I've been waiting for an answer Because I built this bed for two, I'm just waiting on your answer because I built this bed for me and you."

Shepard had always had a beautiful voice, even when she spoke it sent shivers down Miranda's spine but when she sung Miranda wanted to just stare at her lover and listen her sweet words fill her ears.

Miranda crept up behind the blonde and ran her fingers through her hair. Shepard didn't jump or even look back, she simply leaned into the touch while strumming her guitar lightly.

"Did you come up with that on your own?" Miranda whispered.

"Mhhm." Shepard hummed. "Still needs some work, I know."

"Are you kidding?" Miranda wrapped her arms around shepard's neck. "That was beautiful."

"This just isn't some song Miranda. It's the one I wrote when I first kissed you. I even have one when we first made our baby." Shepard smiled at that. "You're going to be the mother of my child." Shepard squealed.

Miranda had been relived at how Shepard took the news about her being pregnant. She wouldn't know what to do if Shepard had told her to get rid of the baby, she would have cried then…then she wouldn't know what to do. What would she do? But Miranda was also worried that Shepard might go a little insane over the baby, she always had to protect Miranda now that she was carrying her baby there's no doubt that if someone even laid a finger on Miranda the wrong way Shepard would rip them limb from limb,it made Miranda feel safe but also scared. Scared that Shepard would dig herself a bigger hole.

Miranda smiled at Shepard, she looked better when they had gotten back from the hospital even though it was only a hour ago. She had spent all day in the hospital after that had a long talk about Miranda's pregnancy.

"What?" Shepard laughed.

Miranda raised a brow her smile still plastered on her face. "Nothing. It's just…I like you." Miranda said giddily like a little school girl, her cheeks aching from smiling so hard.

Shepard threw her head back, laughing uncontrollably. "Could you imagine if we met in primary school?" Shepard snorted, "I would've have had the biggest crush on you, but you probably would've rejected me."

Miranda let out a small laugh, "And why is that?"

Shepard sighed with a lopsided grin, "I was…I was a scrawny little pale nerd and knowing you, you were probably some goddess descended from heaven, like you are now."

Miranda chuckled, "Aw, come on sky you probably adorable, like you are now."

There was a knock at the slightly opened door, chakawas opened the door slowly, her face like stone and unreadable.

"Miranda, dear, there's man at the door for claiming to be your father." She said.

Shepard furrowed her brows at chakawas before she turned her attention towards her girlfriend.

"Your father? How would he know where you are?" Shepard questioned.

Miranda crossed her over her chest rubbing her arms. "I-I don't know." She began to shake. Miranda turned to chakawas. "Could you ask him to leave please?"

Chakawas shook her head, "He demanded to see or he would call the police and I don't really think we need dept. nought coming here again.

Shepard sat down her guitar so she could stand. "I'll take care of him Miranda, don't worry."

Mirandas heart fluttered, my hero. "Skylar, be carful. He's…unstable."

The blonde pecked Miranda on the lips, "I'll be fine. I always am."

Miranda gave Shepard a weary smile. "Alright."

"Alright." Shepard traveled down the stairs with chakawas in tow. She opened the door to be greeted by a man with black hair and blue eyes just like Miranda, but his eyes and hair were different, mirandas eyes were hinted with happiness on the gloomiest days and filled to the brim with joy on the best. His eyes were unsettling, as if there was nothing behind them, just a shell of a man with two blue auras in it. His hair was life-less and limp, Miranda's hair always shined in the darkest of rooms and bounce around as if had a mind of it's own.

"Where's is it?" He said his voice scratchy.

Shepard's nose curled up at the tornado of alcohol she smelled when the man spoke. "Excuse me?"

" Where is it?" He yelled getting a bit more angered.

Shepard blinked. "I'm not understanding, run that by me again." She said, "Last time I check I have no inanimate objects that belong to you."

The man growled, "The girl! The whore! Where is it!?"

Shepard took a good look at the man, he was a wreck, he wrecked of alcohol and cigarettes, his teeth were yellow and his nails were chipped and dirty, his clothes were covered in stains that Shepard even began to identify and he smelled of ass as if he hadn't washed in weeks.

"I'm going to give you one more time to leave before I make you. And trust me, I will." Shepard tried to contain her anger but it was slipping through the cracks of her calm facade.

The man pushed pass Shepard, bursting into the house. "Miranda! You can run but you can't hide!"

Shepard immediately grabbed the man by the back of his collar and in one swift movement threw him out the door. To shepard's despair the man didn't hit his head on the concrete. He stood up with nothing but anger and astonishment on his face.

He put up his guard. "You want to fight? Come on! Let's go!"

Shepard began to step forward when she felt a delicate hand on arm.

"Don't stoop to his level Skylar."

Miranda stepped out the door and faced her father from shepard's side. "Hello Henry."

"There you are! This exactly why I lock you in your room!" Henry spat. "Dumb bitch! How dare you run away from everything I've given you. You ungrateful cunt!"

"Watch your mouth you piece of shit." Shepard said scornfully.

"What are you gonna do about it?" Henry walked closer not even close to sizing Shepard up even Miranda was a little taller than her father. The six foot two blonde towered over the five-seven man.

"You talk a lot of shit for someone who can get his ass knocked out with one hit." Shepard said.

Henry took a step back. "Miranda. Get your things were leaving."

"No." Miranda stepped forward. "I don't have to be go anywhere with you. Neither does Oriana. She's turning eighteen in a month and she's already off to college me and her are free of your sick ways and games. So get the fuck out here before my girlfriend has to make you. I'm happy and there's nothing that you can do to change that any more you twisted bastard."

"Miranda-"

"Leave. Because I am six seconds away from putting you six feet under." Shepard threatened.

Henry rushed back to his car. "This is not over!"

"It better be if you want to see another day." Shepard yelled back.

Miranda looked up at her girlfriend, the blonde watched the car speed off with so much hatred in her eyes Miranda swore if she hadn't shown up Shepard would've killed Henry right here. And she would've.

It scared Miranda. A lot.

The chatter and giggling of nerby people soothed the couple, they felt they were getting away from the stress of their day to day. Shepard had set up a day of taking Miranda shopping, watching her try on thousands of clothes that Shepard said she would pay for them all but of course Miranda didn't allow that. They even went apartment hunting, looking for a nice place to "settle down" for a little before something else happened. They ended the day with a little dinner at a bistro in the citadel mall.

"Soooooo." Miranda teased.

"Soooooo…?" Shepard smiled.

Miranda giggled, "How about Alora? Victoria? Victoria Alora Shepard? Victoria Alora Lawson?"

Shepard laughed, "Lawson? Oh no. Miranda, you're taking my name and that's final. Who said anything about you proposing? If anybody's proposing it's gonna be me."

"No arguments there. I just want to marry you."

Shepard grinned, "I actually do like that name. But what if it's a boy? How about…alfie? Alfie Ryan Shepard?"

"It's cute but I pray we don't have a boy, another one of you running is scary enough."

"Well…if you think that it makes me question how much you love me. So…how about you show me just how wrong I am?" Shepard said almost unable to contain herself.

Shepard moved her napkin and revealed a shiny, sapphire ring, surrounded by ruby gems.

"With that being said." Shepard smiled, Miranda began to wipe away the tears before the left dark streaks of mascara on her face. She cover her face and began sobbing.

"Miranda, I've loved you longer than I've know. I never wanted to admit that I, Skylar Shepard, was in love with the ice queen. But I was, deeply. And now that I have you and have forced you not to leave me. I want to make this forever and I hope do too." Shepard grabbed Miranda's hands and took them away from her face. "Please look at me, you're so beautiful."

Miranda grinned, unable to stop, she couldn't even if she tried. "I didn't want to admit I was in love with my arch rival."

"Soooooo?" Shepard said.

Miranda sniffled, wiping away the tears. "Sooooo?"

The blonde blinked. "Will you marry me?"

Miranda began to cry again uncontrollably. "Duh you idiot!"

Shepard slipped the ring on Miranda finger, smiling from ear to ear. "I love you too."
