I am soo sorry it has taken me so long to write this chapter! anyway, here it is... finally! Enjoy..

Hiccup's POV

The early morning light illuminates the thick layer of ache that blankets the Isle of Berk. I stare out of my bedroom window after a very traumatic night. I rest my sore, swollen, beaten hands on the wooden frame. Two pieces of white cloth cover my ugly, bloody, pus-y, oozing, burning scars on the palms of my hands. Everything I touch sends an acute pain through my nerves; but I completely ignore the pain. I just endure it.

Why do bad things happen to the good, innocent people?

Huh?

WHY?

A bolt of anger ignites in the pit of my stomach and I let out a harsh sign… well, it actually comes out as a growl. My hands automatically grip the window frame, hard.

"Ow," I whisper, angering myself even more.

Toothless purrs softly, I'm guessing to see if I'm okay (which of course I'm not- but I try to smile). He joins me at the window and leans his head against my wounded arm, "I won't let anything bad happen to you," I whisper with a crack in my voice. I wrap one arm around Toothless' neck, without causing too much pain for myself.

We watch as the sunrise over the edge of world, highlighting the dead bodies lying disorientated on the ground.

I killed people.

I MURDERED people.

My muscles intensify again at the memories of the last night. I am not proud of what I have done; but everyone seems to be proud. No one should me proud of killing.

No one

Toothless growls softly and I pull him closer to me.

"Hiccup?" a soft familiar voice says. I push the thoughts out of my head and look in the direction of the voice. Astrid climbs the last few steps and slowly limps over to me. Toothless backs away and approaches Astrid as if to say hello, and then he just ran down the stairs. "Are you okay?" she asks in a hushed shaky tone. I stare at her and simply nod, but then look back to the depressing scenery outside. My entire body suddenly begins to shake as I think about last night.

Small, cut and bruised arms wrap around my waist, "its okay, Hiccup," Astrid whispers tenderly in my ear, "nothing will happen to our dragons, I promise." Her head rests on my shoulder. She's right- nothing will happen to our dragons. I rest my head on hers and twist my burnt hands into her sore looking fingers. And we just stare out towards the sea where out attackers will come and threaten our home again…

Flashback

I ran through the overgrown trees and bushes in the forest, running from the firing danger that threatens and destroys my home. Believing that no one was following me, and that I was well away from the burning fire, I slowed my pace into a steady walk.

The moon light made my pathway quite difficult to see, only the dark shadows light up in my passage way.

I stepped into an open area and I glared up towards the glittery moon, catching up with my breath. I inhale the cool breeze deeply.

Suddenly, I am not alone.

I stopped in my tracks immediately and I let out a quiet gasp. Three muscular shadowed figures stepped out from behind the dark trees, the blades of their weapons were eliminated by the dim light that was emitted by the moon. I squinted my eyes and could only just register that two of them were battering their weapons in their hands, trying to pose a threat towards me. Oh Thor help me, I thought. How can I get out of this? Bur I was afraid of the answer.

The shadows stepped in formation, blocking all my exits. My heart rate quickens and breathing intensifies. My hand reaches for my large knife (I lost my sword in the fire).

Holding the handle tightly I held it out; near my hip. All three of them exchanged a look.

Oh damn, help me Thor, I thought. There is only one way out of this.

Kill.

The first shadow stepped forward, slapping his weapon down into his hand. I got ready and positioned myself with my knife outstretched. I stood ready, my breathing was steady and my hands still.

Out of the blue the first shadow swung and I ducked just in time, then I plunged my knife into his stomach, slicing my knife through his intestines. Hot blood poured out of his body and spilled all over my hand. He falls to his knees and the second shadow let out a low pitched scream, revealing that he was coming- that was a very bad move! I kicked him in the chest; knocking him to the ground. The third bastard held his weapon high over his head but I caught it in time, just before he would have hit me. I punched his temple hard and then even harder in the stomach and then punched him back in the face, and that made him drop his weapon to the ground.

I turned around just as the first shadow was standing up on his very weak legs. Surprisingly, he began to run in my direction (even if blood flowed out of his stomach heavily). I tightened my grip on my knife; I spun on the spot fast and sliced my knife deep across his throat.

He fell to the ground, his hands tight on his neck as even more bloody flowed violently. He made choking noises as he choked on his own bloody.

The second guy gets up again. My body immediately plunged towards him but he grabs my arm and flung me over his shoulder and I crashed to the ground causing me to lose my knife. A burst of pain exploded in my shoulder and a whine escaped my mouth. He walked over my body. As he did so, I grabbed one of his legs and pulled it so he tumbled over. I rolled over and sat on top of him, but he was a lot stronger than me. He floored me on the ground, I tried to push him off me but he punched me repeatedly in the face. Adrenaline ignited and sprinted through my system and it gave me a burst of energy and strength. Just as he was going to punch me for the tenth time, I caught his wrists and rolled over. This made us roll over the one dead first shadow. He growls and he rolled over again sso he could grab my knife. He sits on my stomach and he tied my arms down with his knees. It hurt like a bitch, but I tried to kick him but he held my knife too close to me throat. I could see his evil eyes and his psychotic smile. I felt the coldness of the blade on my neck. He laughs loudly and holds the knife up again, but his knees loosen and my arms become free. I hold my fist up and punch him straight in the nose, which causes him to drop my knife. He whines. But I immediately stop his whining with a meeting with my knife jammed in his throat- taking the second life.

"You murderer!" The third guy shouts, running to me. I quickly get up and run towards him, knife held above my head.

I scream as we draw closer but I was welcomed with a very hard bash in the face by a sold club, that broke my nose. I flew backwards and crashed against the ground hurting my back again. The ass-hole pulls my hair so I kneel up. He stood behind me, knife in hand and the blade touching my throat. Well, this is it, I thought. I was too exhausting to do anymore. I closed my eyes, excepting death. But the knife dropped and the grip on my hair vanished.

"Hiccup?"

I fall back and stare up ay my saviour.

"Hiccup!" the voice raised lightly.

I blinked several times but I couldn't make out who the voice belonged to. A dark face bent down and I let out a moan as the pain in my nose became unbearable. A hand was placed on my cheek and I stared into the unrecognisable eyes. Another hand touched my other cheek. I opened my eyes wider. My ear rung, my head pounded, and I could make out who the eyes who were staring at me belonged to.

Several drops of water fell on my face and I realized they were tears. Then, my head snapped, "Astrid?" I said shakily.

"Hiccup?" her voice lit up, "Are you okay?"

Trying to be stronger, I sat up and hugged her tightly. "I killed them," I whispered in her ear, hugging her even tighter, but I began to shake uncontrollably.

"It's okay, you have to do it," she whispered, "But, Hiccup…" her voice got serious, "We need you at the Docks, there's too many of them!"

My face dropped. More? I pulled away from her- staring into her eyes, questioning our next moves. "Hiccup, I think they are here for our dragons."

"What?" My faces dropped.

"Yeah, that's why we need you."

"Okay," I say getting up. I offer a hand to Astrid. She stood up and stared straight into my eyes, and held my hand tightly.

"You're shaking," she said worriedly.

"Sorry," I said, picking up my knife, "let's go!" I stared to walk but Astrid grabbed my arm and pulled me back.

"Babe, hang on," she stepped close and wiped her sleeve against my nose, wiping the blood away, "just be careful." I smile and we run to the docks.

"Hiccup!" Snotlout shouted as I took down his anonymous attacker from behind. The target went down with a loud groan. "Thanks!" he nodded towards me. I nodded in reply and ran towards the end of the docks, looking at the oncoming ships. My heart was in my mouth, my breath quickened and my body temperature raised significantly.

"Ah ha! Son of Stoick the Vast," said by someone who stood on the closest ship anchored at the docks. Trembling, I held my knife up. A masked figure jumped only a few feet away from me- no weapon visible.

"Take me to your father and this will all stop," he said, walking triumphantly even closer to me.

"Err…" is all I can say. Why would I want to take him to my father? He could reduce Berk to ashes.

"Hiccup, where is he?" He asked again, growing impatient.

I stood still, saying nothing. He stood above me, breathing down on me and walking around me, slowly, as if he were inspecting me. I avoided eye contact; I stared down at my feet. The thoughts in my head raged with the three blank faces of the victims I killed.

Suddenly, a knife cut deep into my right arm, causing me to scream, and I released my knife, and heard it smack against the wood underneath my feet. But, I didn't move, it was as if my mind paralysed me. I felt warm liquid roll down my arm, into my hand and slowly dripped onto the ground.

"Tell me where he is!" He shouted.

I inhaled and held my head up like my mind had me dropped back into reality and I stared evilly at my the dick who walked around me.

"No." I finally said, standing my ground. But before I could think that that was a good move, he harshly punched me in the left temple with his sword handle, making me fall to my knees. I held my pounding head, with tears welling in my eyes.

My attacker, crouched behind me and pulled my hair backwards and I looked up to the starry sjy again.

"Tell me where he is!"

"N-"

"Hiccup!"

I was pushed over and I fell onto my chest.

"What have you done to me son?" my dad said, threatening him. I stay on the ground, unable to move any muscle. I lay on my side, letting my blood flow from multiple wounds. I heard my father and the masked asshole shouting at each other. My vision blurred. "Son," I felt a hand hold my shoulder and I stared up to my father's blurry face, he helps me up and held me against his body and I felt too weak to stand by myself.

"You have a weak son, Stoick," the masked person said, as he walked closer, "one week, Stoick, one week or we'll come back with more blood thirst." A horn sounded and all out attackers that could still move, retreated to their ships. "Stoick!" the leader called again, removing his helmet. My mouth dropped and my tense muscles gave way. "Here!" he shouts throwing a piece of rolled paper. My father picked it up and hid it into his overcoat.

We watch as the ships go and sail off the edge of the world. My body leans numbly on my dad. His arm shocked me, "Son?" he asked.

"They want our d-?" I asked weakly.

He sighed and kneeled in front of me, "dragons, yes Hiccup. But don't worry I sent them to the other side of the island."

I sighed of relieve. "But why?"

"We'll discuss it tomorrow morning," I nod. "Anyway, what's wrong, this is not like you."

My body intensifies again, "I killed people," I said, "and back memories came to mind."

My father hugs me tightly, "it's okay, and unfortunately that's just what life is about. You have to kill some people to save and protect thousands," I nod again.

"Hiccup, Stoick, we need you," Fishlegs said and he wave his hands telling us to come quick.

"Help!" screamed a young woman from underneath some burning rubble. I ran to help her immediately.

"It's okay, I'll get you out of there." I said surprisingly calm. I looked around to see how I could possibly get her out before it was too late. "Right keep still," I said. Without thinking I pulled the burning wood out of the way, ignoring the agonising pain in my palms.

"Hurry!" the woman shouts.

"One more piece to move!" I said, removing the last piece of still burning wood, I threw it away and grabbed the woman's hand. She stood up and only escaped with a few small burns on her arms.

"Thank you so much Hiccup!" she said.

"You're welcome." Unexpectedly she hugged me. I kept my very painful hands to my sides. She pulled away,

"I would go get those burns seen. You're very brave Hiccup. And I look up to you for that. You safed my life." She nodded her head in appreciation and then limped to her family about 100 metres away. I smiled slightly at her comment, I saved her life!

I stared at the burning building, listening to the crackling fire. I stare at my burning hands, remembering the time when I was tortured on Outcast Island. Suddenly, everything turned black.

I felt a soft breeze on my face and all feeling came back all of a sudden and I burst open my eyes to see two huge green eyes staring down on me. He lit up when he noticed that I was awake, "Hey, bud!" I whispered as all parts of my body hurt severely.

"Rawr!" he jumped around me, I sat up with a groan, and then I realized that I fainted. I looked around at my surroundings- same place as I was before. The sky, still pitch black, but all burning houses have been put out. I stared at Toothless, checking if he was okay. There were no visible signs of hurt. He sniffed my hands and looked at me with a face full of worry. I held my hands out and stared at them, they began to shake uncontrollably and my brain immediately picked up on the pain. Toothless rawred out loud and I heard people running towards me.

"Hiccup! Are you okay? I couldn't find you anywhere!" Astrid cried hugging me really tightly. But I didn't hug her back. I froze and just stared at my shaking hands. The pain paralysed me again.

"Get off me!" I scream. Astrid let go of me and moved back.

"Hiccup?" my father said as he walked up.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!" I step back, on to the ruins. I felt the tears roll down my face. My dad, Astrid, Gobber, Snotlout and the twins stare at me a was about to kill them. I stepped further and further away in the debris of the burnt house. Some pieces are still hot from the fire. "I'm a monster," I yelled , "just stay away from me or I'll hurt you."

"Hiccup, you're not a monster." Astrid said, calmly, slowly approaching me.

"I'm a murderer," I screamed at her, "please stay away from me."

"Hiccup, so am I" Astrid stepped even closer to me. I stepped back again but misplaced my foot and fell. Astrid, fell next to me and held me close to her chest. "It's okay," she said. I cried loudly into her chest , I wrapped my arms around her as tightly as I could.

"I'm sorry."

"No, don't be sorry. We live inside a living nightmare."

"yes, yes we do!" I say feeling as if the devil steps out of my body.

"Let's get you home and cleaned up!" Astrid said, helping me up, and wrapped my arm around her neck to help me walk. We walked slowly and we helped each other.

"Hold still," Astrid said, holding a wet cloth over my open wound on my arm. My arm twitched every time the cold cloth met my skin. "That's another one down," She said, just before she moved to my face. "Once I've done this, I am going to leave," my head shot up looked at her, "oh don't worry, I'll just go home, clean myself up and go to sleep. And sleep is what you need." I nod slowly. She daps my face slowly and then she finished all of a sudden. She kissed me and I kissed back. "Go to sleep now, I'll see you when the sun is up. Okay?"

"okay."
