Hi…
Unedited. Extremely unedited.
Jace
"Talk to me." I said without checking the caller Id.
"We have a slight problem JC." Said Alec, he started with my father at thirteen, he has a couple of years of experience on me, but my father left this to me, and he didn't complain. Alec is my Chief Enforcer; he controlled, any battles, wars, and he was also over communications, with people from Rival gangs, or anywhere else.
"Of course we do. What is it this time?"
"Seems our friend Robert has taken a bullet to the head." He said annoyance in his voice.
Robert was someone I was supposed to have a meeting with this week. We had met on neutral ground where he forked over 3 machine guns and 2 ounces of cocaine, a beautiful assault rifle, asking me to take out his bitch of a boss.
I was never able to get information on the guy, that's what the meeting was about- setting up last details, how and where he wanted it to be done. He's never even meet the guy; all he knew is what he had heard. So all I really knew was that he had a tattoo of a cobra somewhere. Before he could really get into detail he got called away by his infamous boss.
"So is that is?" I asked in confusion. People die every day really not that big a deal.
"There is something that just not right though. The place wasn't cleaned up, they didn't take anything, they didn't leave anything- they just roughed him up, shot him in the head and left. Did he tell you anything else about who he worked for?"
'Naw man, all I know is the guy's name is Red and he has a tattoo of a cobra on his wrist." I responded.
"It's almost like it was a statement killing." He said.
"Maybe his boss found out. I would do the same thing in his place." I said shrugging, spinning in my chair.
"Well let me figure this out and get back to you. Bye." The line went dead
"Hey daddy." Said a small voice, Aline, she's my current girlfriend, I had to make sure this one didn't use, funerals cause unwanted publicity.
"Hey baby girl." I didn't turn around, because I was still thinking intently about what Robert could have been into that made Alec call me. He isn't the type to call just to chat. I'm glad whoever this guy is, Killed Robert before I could get my hands on them.
"Daddy, I want to go shopping." She said with a slight smile to her voice, she loved this life style because she could be spoiled. I picked up two stacks of money and walked over and handed it to her.
"Pick up something sexy for tonight." I kissed her hard on the mouth, and walked out of the room, I had to find Ragnor, and I needed him to do some research.
Ragnor was good at his job, if you really didn't want to know the truth about, someone, then you shouldn't ask him for help, because he always, gets the job done. He was in his office as usual, it's always an organized mess in there because, he is bookkeeper and the treasurer, to anyone else this would be just a pile a mess, but as long as he did his job, he could keep the room however he wanted.
"What brings you here JC?" His back was turned to me, but he keeps a wide array of cameras all over the room, so he knew who came in and who went out.
"I need you to find out some information about the Robert. Work with Alec on this one." I stopped whatever he was doing and turned around to face me. Ragnor was pretty young for what he does, if he had a real job, he would be making a lot of money, but once you join SH, you're in, for life. I expected him to ask me why he needed to do this research, but he didn't, he never concerns himself in what I ask him to do for me.
"What do you want to know, and when do you want the information."
"Figure out who the boss is and we'll go from there." The first thing, he would usually do, is be sending a photographer after them, but it's different; we know next to nothing about the situation. We know next to nothing about the guy
"It's going to be difficult but, I'll see what I can do." He turned back to his computer, and started his research. The only thing I need now is a drink.

"Hey Mag, did you get anything." I asked coming into his room sitting across from him.
"Sweetie did you forget who you were talking to? Of course I got something." He slides thick folder across the desk to me.
"That is everything about everything. Every piece of information on SH; how they started, where they started, the succession of leaders. All of it. I am quite proud of myself on this one." He says with a big smile on his face. He slides another folder in front of me, this one is thinner.
"Jace Wayland isn't a very complicated person. Cars, women, food and money are his basic necessities in life.
"Like all men." I nodded.
"Well I don't know if you realized this… but you're woman." Mag said like I was supposed to understand what was going on in his head.
"Listen, the only people who have ever seen you are dead. Everyone else seems to think that 'Red'- you are a 50-year-old man with a cat. He goes out to the same club every Friday night, and now he is getting lunch or something. Use your imagination here!" he says, throwing his hands in the air.
"Ralph won't be too happy about this but; it looks like we're going out tonight." I say getting up with the files in my hand.
"Okay, but you are not allowed to pour your own drinks." He laughs before turning back to his computers.
I walked out of Magnus's office and made my way down stairs to my office.
"I don't think this is such a good idea Clarissa." Raphael always knew everything before I had the opportunity to tell him myself.
"Raphael it's not like you or Johnathan could go and do this for me. This is one of those things that I have to handle by myself." I said, handing him the file on Wayland and SH before sitting across from him.
"I'm sure we can find some other way to handle this. I don't want you on the war front by yourself."
"Raphael you and I both know that I can take good care of myself if something were to happen. So that will it take for you to agree to this?"
He sighed out heavily, knowing that this wasn't a battle he was going to win.
"Look, I know that you're going to do whatever you want anyway so just be careful and keep the tracker on."
Before I could respond there was a brisk knock at the door.
"Come in." I said.
Isabelle came into the room with a big smile on her face.
"Did I hear Magnus correctly when he said that you're coming out with us tonight?" She looked way more excited than Raphael.
"He got information on Wayland, so we're going to size him and his crew up. Can I count on you to hold my hair back when I get wasted tonight?" I asked putting my feet up on my desk.
"You know you can. So are we about to leave to plant the seeds now?" She asked, sitting in the seat next to a very irritated Raphael.
"Yeah. Raphael sulking now so he probably doesn't want to go."
His head snapped up as if he just remembered where he was and what he was doing.
"I should come with you for this." He said getting up and pulling his jacket of the back of his chair.
"Why do you want to go all of a sudden?" I asked quirking a brow.
"My job is to protect you Clarissa. You seem to forget that sometimes.
"Mag, when we get back be ready to go!" I yelled before walking out the front door and towards the truck.
Step one in motion.

Ragnor usually hands things in on time; like if I told the guy to have something in to me at 3 o'clock he would be outside my door at 2:59.
"Jace there is absolutely nothing to find about Robert's boss. It's probably the strangest thing I've ever seen."
"What do you mean?" I asked, caught off guard that he could find nothing. "It's the strangest thing he had ever seen. Robert's bank account had no recorded checks from his workplace and his family said he had been laid off for almost a year before they picked up and left his sorry ass."
"So…do you think she made the thing up? It's kind of a lot to go through
"Look, if you want my opinion I suggest you just forget about the situation. Something's not right here. A guy comes to you with all this stuff begging you to kill someone, and then he winds up dead. Just take what he gave you as a gift and leave it alone."
"I suppose you're right. Well thanks anyway man." I said reaching my hand across his desk to shake his hand.
"We're leaving soon, are you heading out with us this time?' I asked before leaving the room.
"Yeah man, I'll be out there in a second." He said before going back to his many screens. I got two steps out the door when my cell rang.
Before I could even say 'hello' whoever it was on the other end starting talking.
"We're not finish doing business, plans have changed but the job is still on. You will know everything you need to know about the target within a week. Until then, stay on your toes." Said a deep, obviously computer animated, voice.
"Who the hell are you and why should I do anything you ask me to do?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"Your mother is a very beautiful woman Mr. Wayland. If you want her to stay that way you'll watch how you talk to me."
My heart iced over, "if you even go near her I will-'
"Just do as I say and everything will be fine Mr. Wayland. Have a nice time at lunch." the line went dead, leaving me angry, confused, and hungry.
Damn, I'm really hungry.
"Hey! Are you guys coming or not? I'm about to starve to death here!" I said as I went down the stairs, towards the car.
People from all over the house began making their way towards the door. Every week we all go out to lunch and hit the clubs to blow off some steam.
"Baby I'm going to pass on going out tonight. I don't feel too hot." Aline said at the top of the stairs. To tell the truth she looked like she was knocking on death's door at the very moment.
"Alright sweetie, well we'll see you when we get back." I said. She pouted slightly as everyone else filed out of the room.
"Stay out of trouble." She said in a small voice.
I looked back at her with a slight smirk on my face, "Baby girl I am trouble." I winked at her before walking out and moving towards my car.
^*^TIMEBREAK^*^
We arrived at the restaurant a good 30 minutes later. The gang moved to the back of the restaurant, to the room held for private parties, nobody has ever said anything to us about and I highly doubt anyone ever will.
Before we could start with lunch, I had to bring the group out of the dark on the Robert situation.
"So it seems we have a small problem. As you all should know, our friend Robert met his fatal demise not too long ago.' In the last instant I decided it was best not to tell them about the phone call. 'Seeing although he didn't live long enough to show any more information, we now just have more items in stock then we did before. Now let off some steam or whatever just doesn't shoot anybody this time."
Everyone rolls their eyes and scoffs at my order except Alec. He always has been able to see right through my crap.
He locked eyes with me and tilted his head toward the corner of the room near the door; he walked away before I even had time to agree with him.
Leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest, Alec was waiting for me with a quizzical look on his face.
"So are you going to tell me what's really going on or feed me some bullshit like you did everyone else?" he asked cocking his head to the side slightly.
"I have no idea what you're talking about Alec." I bluff, slipping into my leader role.
"Don't pull that bull with me. I knew you before you were in charge, and I know your tell you can't lie to me. So are you going to tell me or are you going to make me find out on my own because, you know I am more than capable of doing so."
"I got a phone call a few minutes after I left you telling me that the job was still on and that someone would be in contact with me soon.
"So let me get this straight. Even though Robert was killed you still have to do the job because some random voice called you out of nowhere and told you, you still had to do it?" Alec said, picking through his food. "Not to mention you still have no idea who this person is." The way he said it made me feel like the biggest idiot.
"This is absolute bulshit. I think I'm starting to forget who I am and ho we are. I won't be bullied by some asshole who couldn't handle his boss on his own." I said, fed up with all this.
"I'm glad you're finally-' I didn't hear anything he said after this; my attention was drawn to a speck of red that walked through the entrance of the restaurant.
We made eye contact immediately. Even from where I'm standing I could tell her eyes had a beautiful shade of green about them.
"Why do I feel like you're not listening to a word I'm saying?" Alec said in his usual bored tone.
"Because I'm not Alexander. Now if you'll excuse me." I walk pass him and towards the small red-head that was now sitting at the bar with a pretty raven haired girl, and a tall Mexican guy.
I clearly had him beat in the looks department. I mean come one…I'm kinda pretty.
Before I was able to sit down he whispered something in her ear before pecking her cheek and walking right out of the restaurant.
"Kinda rude for your boyfriend to just leave a pretty thing like yourself her all alone. Never know who may be interested in a cute little red-head like yourself.
She looked like the odd girl who was in the group people stayed away from in high school. She was wearing ripped jeans, converse and bracelets with different band names on. Well if I actually went to high school I would have a better understanding of this.
She looked in my direction and smiled slightly before turning back to the bartender.
"I'll just have a gin and tonic please."
Jesus Christ her voice sounded like sex.
"Sweetie are you even legal?" the bartender asked with a skeptically looked on his face.
She smiled slightly before looking towards her friend who handed her a pen and a slip of paper. She quickly jotted something down and handed it to the bartender.
His eyes widened slightly and he paled before speaking;
"Sorry for the confusion Ms.-'
She raised her hand in dismissal
"Just get my drink and there will be no worries." She said with a smile. He hurried down the bar and ready her drink without even giving me a second glance.
To say that I was slightly ticked off was an understatement. First she blatantly ignores me- then she makes the bartender ignore me. I don't think so.
"Excuse me Miss." I say sliding into the seat closest to her.
She just looks at me for a second before finally responding,
"Yes." She said simply.
"You realize underage drinking is against the law right?" I asked, actually wondering what she wrote down that made her get service.
Before she could answer her drink was placed in front of her along with another apology from the barkeeper. She waved him away before turning her attention back to me.
"Yes I am well aware of the laws on under aged drinking." She smiled sweetly before taking a sip from her drink.
I liked her attitude, I didn't appreciate it…but I liked it.
"Wayland. Jace Wayland." I extended a hand towards her. She looked down at my hand as if it disgusted her.
"Clarissa." she said before turning her back to me and towards her raven haired friend. The girl looked over at me and giggled slightly.
Just who the hell do these girls think they are?
I said to myself.
"Excuse me but do you know who I am?" I asked adding a little more edge to my voice.
"The real question is why I should care." She looked at her friend and motioned for her to leave before turning back to me.
"A more important question is do you know who you are."
"Of course in know who I am." I scoffed at her nerve.
"Then it really shouldn't matter if I know who you are, should it?"
Before she could bring the glass back up to her lips I grabbed her wrist, causing her to go rigid and look at me with fire in her eyes.
Good, it's about time I got a reaction out of her.
"Sweetie you are on the verge of pissing off the wrong person. Do you have any idea what I am capable off?" I asked her, smiling threateningly.
She giggled. The bitch actually giggled in my fucking face before jerking her hand away from me with a surprising amount of strength.
"You're cute. But you should really loosed up a bit." she knocked on the bar top twice, not even five seconds later the barkeep came towards us.
"Get Mr. Wayland here a drink will ya." She said with her eyes still focused on me. 'it's on me, don't worry." She winks before pulling a bill out of her bra and setting it on the counter.
"Nice talking with you Mr. Wayland." She says before getting of her stool and walking pass me like I was nothing.
I think that I am in love.
I shook my head before walking away from the bar and back towards our room.
"What happened I saw no giggling and hair flipping? Are you losing your touch man?" one of the guys asked me when I got back in the room.
"Hey, pay attention to your own love life and don't worry about mine man." I joked and pushed him.
"Are we ready to go or what?" I yelled at the guys. Cheers went up in the air as everyone got up and made a move towards the door.
The club we we're going to is very difficult to get into unless you know the right person of course. Who would that person be? Like you even have to ask. The club is all a part of the business, I know everyone that comes in and out of this place.
^*^ TIMEBREAK^*^
We had just settled into the VIP area when I noticed a familiar shade of red walk through the door with I group of people following behind her. She looked amazing to say the least, that she didn't want me made me want her even more. Aline or no Aline- she knows we're not anything special.
I called out to Alec, pulling him down so he could see what I was seeing.
"Bring her to me."
