Hi There. I'm pretty surprised at how much you guys like this story. It makes me happy.

Last Time:

"Alec, make some calls, talk to your friends figure out who she is get me what you know on this girl; something's, just not right about her." I said, recounting everything that had happened between us since we met.

"What do you mean?" He asked, spinning around to face me, taking a sip out of his cup and walking towards his computer.

"She doesn't even seem fazed by any of this." I motioned hoping he could understand what I was trying to say.

"Are you wondering why she isn't fazed by this-' he motioned around himself in the same manor I did '-or why she isn't fazed by you." He pointed towards me.

"Alec just do it will you? Shesh." I whined.

Something wasn't sitting right with me.

Poppy

Back in the day I was only friends with family and the family of business associates. Once everything happened all ties were immediately cut to protect the rest of the family and the family's partners.

Shopping with my friends is one of the many things I miss. We would walk around for hours at a time. Most times we didn't even shop we just enjoyed each other's company.

"So are you really going to come back? I would hate to have to chase you down." Isabelle said between bites of her burgers. We had nearly shopped ourselves to death and we were in need of a lunch break.

"I told him I was coming back, didn't I?" I said without looking up from my salad. We had been gone for a couple of hours; I could have away a long time ago if I wanted to.

Before Isabelle could respond Magnus's phone went off, a huge smile spread across his face.

"Alec darling, to what do I owe the pleasure?" he asked. Whatever Alec said made the smile fall from Manus's face hell a quick.

"What do you mean?" he asked making eye contact with me before looking away quickly.

"I'm not sure if that's such a good idea Dear." He was talking in a hushed tone now, making me want to know what they were talking about even more.

"Fuck what Jace said." Mag said rolling his eyes, getting his things together preparing to stand. He sat back down because of something Alec must have said.

"Fine Alec, don't say I didn't warn you." he says before closing his phone and sitting back down with an annoyed huff.

"Mag, what happened? You rarely talk to Alec like that." Isabelle said placing her hand on top of Magnus's.

"Jace is making Alec do something that I don't fully agree with." He said taking a sip from his drink.

"What's he making him do?" I asked

He looked like he was having a battle within himself,

"He asked Alec to do some research on you because something didn't seem right about you."

"Did he now? He does know if he want's information it's always best to go to the source, right?" I asked not trying to hide my annoyance at the situation.

MY life isn't his business and I would appreciate it if he understood that. He acts like I begged him to bring me here; I was doing fine hiding my existence from the world.

"What could he possibly find? You just work at a bar," Isabelle said, she didn't even seem concerned, "Jace is just overly suspicious and pretty nosey at random times. This phase will probably pass." She said.

"You guys ready to go?" I asked getting my things together, not checking to see if they were behind me.

I've never been a fan of nosy people.

Jace

"What do you mean you told Magnus?!" I screamed once Alec spilled what he was talking on the phone about.

"Exactly what I said Jace, every once in a while you should listen to something other than the sound of your own voice."

"Why did you tell him?" he has to know that he's just going to tell Poppy.

He turned in his chair to face me; Alec isn't an easy person to anger, but if you do make him blow you need to control the situation before things get out of hand.

"I told him because I can do what I want. I'm doing you a favor Jace. I hope you know that you are not he boss of me. I can send this whole operation crashing down around you- and only you."

"Are you threatening me Alec?" I asked taking a predatory step towards him. His childhood made him cowards, it taught him to stand up for himself.

I took a step towards me closing the gap between us,

"I'm telling you simple fact Jace."

I've never been so happy to see someone stand for themselves.

But of course my pride would never tell him that.

"Just tell me what you found." I huffed taking a seat in the chair next to his desk. He sighed heavily before sitting in front of the computer.

"In the beginning I found nothing, her mother died during child-birth, the father was never known and she was placed in an orphanage. Birth Certificates, Social Security Cards and licenses all seemed to check out. When I started to dig a little deeper I realized that those pretty much her only records. She has no school or vaccination records or anything else. This is unnaturally odd." He said looking up at me.

"So what does that mean?" I asked satisfied that my hunch was right about something being off about her.

"It means somebody whipped her down. She wouldn't exist if it weren't for the things I listed before. Once I couldn't get anything else from the internet I had to call in some friends. The all the people I talked to said they knew nothing or that they couldn't say anything. I was close to giving up when I called one person. I gave him her name and he said it was something he hadn't heard in a long time."

"How long?" I asked.

"Like since the Morgenstern's were killed and they're kids were separated and put into protective services." He said before pulling up some files on his computer.

"Apparently 'Poppy' was a nickname that her father- Valentine Morgenstern- gave to her the day she was born. He faxed me the most resent picture of her he had, told me I would have to play with it to see if she's the girl I'm looking for."

"Well is she?" I asked frustrated that he was dragging this out longer than need be.

"Calm down wills ya? The fax took a while to come through, I just got It." he said. I stood and walked closer so that I could see the screen.

"This is Clarissa Morgenstern on the day of her parent's funeral. They wouldn't let her stay long enough to see them put in the ground." Alec murmured opening the photo shopping software.

Clarissa was a red-head which made her features seem extra soft. If this actually is Poppy then that red is going to have to make a comeback.

The photo program finally opened. The first section Alec went to was color. He chose the boldest black her could find and set it to be her hair.

"And her we have Miss Poppy." Alec said turning the screen so that I could fully see her.

Well I'll be damned.

Clary

We were finally pulling back up to the house. The back of the car was filled with bags from our afternoon adventure.

"Is there anything I should know before we walk into this house?" Isabelle asked before I could step a foot out of the car.

"I'm sure you'll find out when the time is right." I said before getting out, getting my bags and going into the house. I can't say I'm surprised that they left the door unlocked.

Alec and Kaelie were the only ones in the living room when I walked in. Kaelie had an annoying smirk on her face while Alec had a worried expression on his.

"Hey guys." I said walking passed them and towards my room.

"Jace would like a word with you." Kaelie said, I could hear the smile in her voice, I turned to face her.

"I think I'll pass on that." She shrugged her shoulders and busied herself with whatever was on TV.

I went to my room and showered, clearing my mind for everything that was about to happen.

I was sitting in the chair across from the door, reading a book when he stormed into my room.

"Poppy," He said adding unnecessary emphasize on my 'name' "do you have a minute?" He asked.

"I'm busy." I said without looking up from my book. He walked across the room and slapped the book out of my hands.

"Well that was just unnecessary." I said smiling slightly at his aggressiveness. I would be insane to not be attracted to him.

"Did you think I wouldn't find out, Clarissa?"

"I really don't think its right to take credit for something you didn't find out yourself." I said sitting up straighter in my chair. I may be small but I refuse to be intimidated.

He jerked me out of my chair and against his chest. "You lied to me." he said, I could feel his heart beating rapidly against my chest

"I did no such thing." I rejected his statement.

"Then what would you call it?" he asked squeezing tighter on my arm.

"You never asked anything about me for one. It's really none of your business for two, and lastly if you leave another bruise on my body I'm going to have to rip off your favorite appendage."

He let me go pushing me slightly away from him. I thought the conversation was over until he reached his hand up and snatched the wig off my head.

My hair fell down around my shoulders and framed my face. He just started at me with his mouth hanging open like an asshole.

Before I had the chance to say or do anything to him his lips crashed on to mine. He wrapped his hand in my hair and pulled my body to his.

I loosened up and began to kiss him back. I pushed on his chest roughly making him fall against the bed. I climbed on top of him straddling his waist before bring my lips to his neck.

"I like you so much better as a red-head." He groaned bringing my face back to his.

I have to admit, he knew exactly what he was doing to me. He knew here to put his hands and how to use them.

When his hand reached for the hem of my shirt I lifted my arms and let him pull it over my head and through it across the room.

I slid my hand under his shirt and scrapped my nails across his defined stomach. He growled against my mouth before taking my bottom lip between his and sucking roughly.

I remembered what I was supposed to be doing when his hands reached for the snap on my jeans. I moved slightly. Not enough to be suspicious, but enough to get me to where I needed to be.

I raised myself to one knee before slamming the other one against his crotch.

He let out a pain filled groaned and attempted to roll into a ball on my bed.

I moved to put my shirt back on before going back to him. He was sitting up now with rage in his eyes.

I started talking before he could,

"Since you've had research done on me, you should know something's that you would only be able to get from the source." I said before punching him in the face hard enough to crack a bone in my hand. That would hurt later, but I had no time to deal with it now.

"Have you completely lost your mind? You just put my name back in the streets!" I said walking away from him, running my hands through my hair.

I'm not ready to be found yet.

When I turned back around he was standing in front of me. He pushed me up against the wall holding my hands above my head.

"That was a nasty trick you just pulled." He said, I could still hear the pain in his voice.

"Get your hands off me." I said in a deathly tone.

He tightened his grip on me and leaned in closer.

"Who do you think you are little girl? Do you even know who-' I brought my foot down against his shin.

"Do you know who I am!" I at this point I was screaming "I am the daughter of Valentine Morgenstern, head of one of the biggest crime families this country has ever known! Everything you're doing, I've been doing is child play to me. I refuse to be talked down to by some D-list criminal play boy who thinks he can throw his weight around! I could run this city if I wanted to!" I was in his face now- well as close to his face as I could get "I could kill you if I wanted to and not lose a bit of sleep about it."

"Oh re-' he started. I held my hand up to stop him

"Do not speak while I am speaking. You have the nerve to refer to yourself as king. You expect people to bow down for you- you thought I would be like that blonde bimbo and hang on your every word. I'm sorry to disappoint you but that is not how I work. I don't submit to people- they submit to me."

That was when the blonde bimbo herself walked into the room with her hands on her hips.

"Who do you think you are, talking to him like that?" she asked before pushing me back a few steps.

I brought my hand back and slapped her hard across the face. She fell to the ground clutching her check, her eyes filling with tears.

By this time everyone else in the house was standing in my room with opened mouths and wide eyes.

"I'm Clarissa Morgenstern."
