Chapter 27

Haruhi stared at Harley's grave, she was leaving but it was so unsettling. Everything was packed and ready to be shipped home to Japan. She was making one last goodbye, to Harley. She could feel it as if he wasn't really gone. But in heart he really wasn't. Then she could hear a song but it wasn't coming from anywhere as if it was being whispered through the autumn wind.

It started out as a feeling,

Which then grew into a hope.

Haruhi took a deep breath sighing sadly he couldn't be gone. Harley couldn't be gone he was Harley almost as invincible as the host club that was currently waiting by the car giving her a moment to say goodbye.

Which then turned into a quiet thought,

Which then turned into a quiet word.

Haruhi's eyes started to swell with tears "you can't be gone." She whispered to the grave stone. Just a cold large grave stone that carried a name and dates with a little passage Lawson and herself had agreed on. Even though it was big it didn't do Harley justice.

And then that word grew louder and louder

'Til it was a battle cry

Haruhi began to sob "HARLEY! WHY?!" she said loudly but not loud enough the hosts could here just about 100 meters away. "Why?! You shouldn't have died!" But there was nothing she could do to change it. He was gone even though somewhere deep inside it didn't feel like he was. She was leaving "But you know why I came here Harley, though I don't know why I'm saying this I know you can't here me."

I'll come back.

"I will come back Harley. I promise. I just need some time."

When you call me,

No need to say goodbye.

"Goodbye Harley. I will miss you but one day I will be back." She took on last look at the cold grave stone and nodded turning on her heel. She went to take her first step to her old/new life one with Takashi something she for some reason feared. It was scary. But then she felt a shiver something compelling her to turn around.

Just because every thing's changing

Doesn't mean it's never been this way before.

When Haruhi looked over her shoulder she saw it. It was Harley he was sitting on the base of his grave. He looked like a projector a very faint one that you could barely see. He was faded but you could still see him his voice was like nothing more than a whisper in the wind "Why are you afraid Haruhi?" "I-I how? You, I don't know if that life is for me anymore Harley I use to miss it but I don't know." "You want something you feel you can't have and once you gain it you're afraid again. You have been there before Haruhi it's not new just you are. It's been like this before me, you were with them. We had each other after Haruhi. Now go!" Haruhi looked around to see if anyone else could hear him or see him.

All you can do is try to know

Who your friends are as you head off to the war

Haruhi felt an ache in her chest "But-" "you deserve this life Haruhi, one with him… Mori. He can give you the life you want. Bury the things you learnt from the gang and go back to being who you were. You trusted them first Haruhi you know they won't betray you." "But you…" "I have gone Haruhi nothing holding you back go please go." Tears fell down her face "Can they hear you?" "No it's me saying goodbye I'm leaving soon."

Pick a star on the dark horizon

And follow the light.

"Can you though? Move on I mean." "I can promise you that." "Har-" Harley shook his head no stopping Haruhi from saying anything.

You'll come back

When it's over

No need to say good bye

It was as if the mysterious music was saying unspoken words. Haruhi smiled at him "Harley." "I know." "You were the best friend I ever had." "Don't say it like you're not coming back." "I might not." "You and I both know it's a lie." And it was. Haruhi smiled and turned her back on him.

You'll come back

When it's over

No need to say good bye

Haruhi looked over her shoulder "I will see you next time. Harley." He smiled. Then as she turned to walk away the music faded away into a big gust of wind. Haruhi turned too looked back at him again but nothing was there just leaves blowing in the wind. Haruhi cleaned the tears off her face as she passed other graves to the limo that was parked on the side of the road all of the host club members were waiting.

"Who were you talking to?" Mori asked. Haruhi smiled "Harley's grave I don't know maybe I was hoping where ever he was he could hear me." Mori took Haruhi's hand and they all piled into the limo. It wasn't cramped as you would think. She was leaving America going back to the place of her birth, Japan. Haruhi stared at her hands even though one of them was linked with Mori. Suddenly he let go of her hand. There was a mind piercing silence "Can you turn the radio on please?" Kyouya nodded "no problem."

The music began playing but she recognized the melody and the instruments. It was the same as the song that whispered in the wind. It was a real song not something she had been imaging cause she missed him.

Now we're back to the beginning

It's just a feeling and no one knows yet

But just because they can't feel it too

Doesn't mean that you have to forget.

Haruhi pulled Harley's ring out of her pocket and stared at it. She would never forget it, those 2 years. The two years that changed her as much as the host club. Even though she was back and everything seemed normal she would never forget her time as a gangster. She flipped the ring around staring at it, Harley had worn it constantly.

Let your memories grow stronger and stronger

Til they're before your eyes.

The memories filled her eyes, of everything she had done here everything she now was. The person she was leaving behind here. She would have a life with Mori and everything she ever wanted. She swore she would never speak of it to her children even though the memories were vivid and the pain so real. It was time to say good bye.

You'll come back

When they call you

No need to say good bye.

Haruhi suddenly snapped her head up something wasn't right. There was something she was missing. She jumped out of her seat rolling down the window and looked outside sure enough there it was. The whole gang holding up a letter that spelled out "good bye Haruhi we will miss you. Good Luck."

She could hear the final words of the song play as she looked and drove past them for one final time. She would never see them again. She gripped Mori's hands. It was time for her life to begin and her fantasy world to end. But she was strangely excited. She was finally ready for her life to begin. She was going to make it the best she could for herself, and for the man who died for her.

You'll come back

When they call you

No need to say good bye.

One last one folks. ONE LAST STORY LETS MAKE IT A GOOD ONE EH?!
