Macelines POV
"I groaned painfully as i awoke the next morning. A deep throbbing pounded in my temples. Blinking a few times to regain my focus on my surroundings. 'Where am i?' was the only thought that swam through my head. The odd and unfamiliar white walls, wooden flooring and very comfortable queen sized bed that I am laying on, told me anything but I'm not in my house anymore. Sitting upwards i rubbed my eyes and continued to rake my brain for the missing memories of last night. My gaze fell upon the sleeping Pink hair girl laying next to me. I narrowed my eyes for a second before my eyes widen at the realization. I had woken up from a coma yesterday, Bonni told me i was out for a good three months. Something about a Prince Kai? And i feel like I'm forgetting something... oh right, i had a nightmare last night, which is why Bonni is sleeping next to me now. A small smile twitching at my lips as i watch her chest fall up and down, with each small breath she took. I reached a hand forward subconsciously reaching out to the princess. Wanting nothing to be close with the princess.. My princess again. Thinking better of it, i settle for a very uncomfortable cough hoping to wake her up
The princess did indeed wake from her slumber, rather angelic too. "Hmm? Marceline? Is everything okay?" Bonni yawned while rubbing her eyes as well. I gave a weak smile "yeah i'm fine, shouldn't you be up by now? You know royal duties of the Princess and such?" I wave a hand in the air in some form of gesture to elaborate on what i was trying to say. Bonni just smiled and shook her head "Today is my day off" I raised a brow "Do princesses even get days off?" i continued to question. Bonni shrugged "probably not, but i'm choosing that today is my day off. " A playful smile plastered on her face. I felt my heart tug just seeing her smile. I smiled genuinely. "Well then Princess what do you have planned for today?" i asked as i swung my legs off the bed and stretched, letting out a small moan of relief at the sound of popping in my back. "Ohh well.. I'm actually going to see Kai" Bonni's voice trailed off into a whisper by the end of her sentence.
I turned my head around around and gave Bonni a sceptical look. "Speaking of Kai, who is he? You mentioned him yesterday and i still have no clue about who he is." lifting my legs off the ground i floated over towards Bonni and sat next to her. I watched as she bit her lip and aimlessly rubbed her hands against the silk grey sheets. I tilted my head, waiting for her to reply. However something told me that i didn't want to know the answer. With a deep sigh Bonnibel looked me in the eyes and said "Prince Kai, is from the water kingdom. He first came to visit the Candy kingdom a few weeks after you were in the coma" Bonni paused looking away from me and out the window. "His father sent him on a mission to find a suitor. Kai is my Fiancee Marceline. We have been engaged for the pass 3 months." I felt my heart stop. And shatter into a million pieces.. It was like someone had knocked all the oxygen out of my lungs. "engaged" i whispered brokenly, i gripped the sheets under my hands, afraid if i let go, i would pass out or loose my balance.
"Yes, that's correct." Bonni said carefully, placing a hand over my shaky one. "Marceline? Are you gonna be okay?" Bonni's voice sounded distant, as my head began to throb again. Closing my eyes i took a deep breath, removing my hand away from Bonni's. "I'm fine. I have to go, have a nice date with Kai" i gave a tight smile, i grabbed my cloak and pulled it over my head. Before flying out of the window. Silent tears falling from my eyes.
Bonni's POV
I watched helplessly as the light in Marceline's red eyes fade away. I could see tears beginning to swell up with in them, as she fought so hard to keep them behind there barricade. I bit my tongue regretting the words that had escaped my mouth. "engaged" I heard her whisper. Her voice so broken, exposed and vulnerable. Glob how I wanted to just to embrace her and tell her it wasn't true and that i loved her, and not Kai. But how could i? The candy kingdom demands a heir and Marceline and I could never have one. Even if i could scientifically create one, the royal counsel would surly have my head for marring a women. Trying to form some sort of sentence i said "Yes, that's correct" i mentally face palmed my self, wondering why i had to make everything sound so proper like a school teacher answering a students timid answers
Cautiously i drew my hand on top of her's and frowned at how much she was shaking. "Marceline are you gonna be okay?" i growled to my self of course she isn't you patoot! She's emotional distressed because you told her you were engaged! i winced at my subconscious monologue. Marceline pulled her hand out from under mine and gave a smile.. A fake one of course and i knew it was. "I'm fine, have a nice date with Kai" she said coolly before flying out of the window. I watched her silhouette disappear in the sky before i sunk down on the bed and brought my knees to my chest, resting my head on top of them, i let out a shaky breath "Oh Marcy, if you only knew how much i loved you." i whispered, sobbing quietly.
"Princess? Are you in here?" A familiar voice woke me from my slumber. My eyes fluttered open and i noticed that i was still in the guest bedroom. I moved my eyes to the opposite side of the bed hoping to catch the vampire queen still sleeping from her earlier spot, but frowned when i remembered she had left some time ago. "Yes I'll be right out." i called before fixing my self up quickly before making my way over to the door. I pulled the door open only to be greeted by the one person i didn't want to see. "Well good afternoon my lady, did you sleep well?" Kai's voice gentle and sweet with a brilliant smile plastered on his face. Kai was a little taller then myself, with aqua slick back water hair that swam like the ocean did. He had very light sky blue skin. A round face much like most people. His eyes a bright and almost neon green. He wore his traditional clothing of a white and gold suit. His cap falling just short of his ankles. Lastly his gold boots. I gave a weak smile "Yes thank you." Kai pressed a light wet and cold kiss upon my cheek and i shivered, whether it was disgust or natural reaction to the cold and wet i wasn't sure.
"Are you ready?" he asked hopefully. I raised a brow before remembering we had a date. "i am, lead the way" I smiled softly as he looped his arm around mine and began to walk me towards the courtyard. The garden that surrounded the yard, grew with loll pops, sugar sticks and many more wonderful candies. "Here we are" Kai's voice broke the silence as he gestured to the picnic table made out of gingerbread with a bread sticks. Salad and lasagne. I gave a genuine smile. "Awe Kai this is amazing" Kai smiled and lead me to my seat. He helped me in before making his way towards his own."wait till you try the food" he tease before cutting me a slice and putting it on my plate. I gave a polite smile as i took a small bite. "so? What do you think?" Kai asked looking at me expectantly. "It's really good." i hum out as i take another bite. "I'm really glad you like it, i wasn't sure if my cooking skills were up to your criteria" i laughed "Kai you know i'm a terrible cook. Peppermint Butler is the only one who cooks around here" Kai joined in on the laughter. "Your not that bad of a cook. I mean your good at baking cupcakes" Kai assured. "well yeah, if you haven't noticed i'm pretty good with making things out of candy" i gestured to the kingdom.
Kai shook his head laughing. After a few more moments of laughing Kai asked "So how's Marceline? Is she okay?" My smile faded into a frown. I had totally forgotten about the Queen for a good ten minutes. A sudden pain of guilt twisted in my heart as i recalled earlier events. "She's doing much better. She actually headed back to her home earlier this morning." Kai gave a warm smile "I'm really glad to hear that. When you first told me about her waking up i was shocked. She's been in a coma for what 2 months?" "Three" i say matter of factory. "right, well you can imagine the surprise on everyone face to hear about her recovery" i gave a weak smile "Marceline is strong. I never had a doubt in my mind that she wouldn't wake up. I've known her long enough to know she wouldn't let something like this take her away from the world. She's been through way worse" My smile spreads as the memories of the two of us getting into mischief.
A loud clanging noise startled me from my thoughts. "Sorry PB!' Finn called as he came running through the court yard to fetch Jake who was a round ball. "Yeah sorry peebs" Jake said softly as he grew back into his regular size. "It's quite all right boys, just next time not so close to the kingdom?" Finn nodded "Come on Jake let's go bother the Ice King" Jake laughed and grabbed Finn as he grew big and placed him on his back as they ran off to the ice Kingdom. I laughed and so did kai. "it amazes me on how much energy that boy has" Kai grab the plates and began to walk back inside the castle "it's almost like he isn't just human" I added and walked beside Kai to help him take the food back in to the castle.
Later that night Kai walked me to my bedroom "Good night my princess" he leaned in and placed a kiss on my lips. I kissed him back hesitatingly and reluctantly. "Good night" i whispered and closed my bedroom door behind me. I walked over to my bathroom and ran myself a bath. Sitting on the edge i began to go over everything that had happened today. I turned around and shut the taps off. I stripped out of my pink dress and tossed it on the floor. Sinking into the warm bath i looked up towards the window. Images of last night and months before where Marceline and I had spent that romantic evening on top of that hill. Closing my eyes i could see us staring at the stars and while the fire crackled around us. I silent tears began to fall, wiping them away. I whispered "I'm so sorry Marcy. Please forgive me"

Hello, everyone. I would sincerely like to apologize for not updating for a good 6 months. Lately a lot of stuff has been going on. And well i lost my inspiration to write this story. does this mean i will be updating now that i made a new chapter? Hopefully. i do hope to finish this story. I have two other fan fictions that im also trying to work on too. it seems whenever i try and sit down to write i get interrupted or lose my focus. Anyways i know this is a short chapter and you were probably expecting something longer for the wait, but this is all i could write for the time being. im getting ready for college and stuff. So these updates will be slow but i will try and update as soon as possible.
