Now that I have my bionics back I feel whole again, less broken. He even gave me my GPS so I know exactly where we are and I can contact Donald. Buy I know he can see every message I send and/or receive, so contacting Donald is a last resort.
"How does it feel?" Douglas asks.
"Fine." I retort, trying not to show how happy I am.
He nods and then turns to leave. "What exactly do you need them for?" I ask, genuinely curious.
"Power, and with power comes money." He smirks.
"So this was never about getting your children back?" I inquire, I know this is none of my business but I've spent most of my life searching for them and I want to know why.
"They're lab rats, test tube babies. I only created them because I was too lazy to find a willing donor. Why do you ask?" Douglas acts as if this is a perfectly reasonable reason for having children, it makes my blood boil.
I suppress my rage and say, "Just curious." I even shrug my shoulders to convey how little I care.
"We are going to start testing they're bionics tomorrow to see if its military grade. Till then you can do whatever you want." Douglas dismisses me before leaving to go do whatever it is he does.
Line Break
"Hey." I greet Maya as I enter her room. I notice she's staring off into space.
She just waves at me before continuing staring off into space.
I walk over to Caitlin and check her vitals. Everything was normal, and she is predicted to wake up the day after next.
"Why are you here?" Maya asks from behind me.
I don't turn around instead I toy with Caitlin's machines a little. "Just checking up on you guys." I reply. I need to talk… my mind says.
Maya sighs, "I don't want to play games Marcus, just tell me what you want."
Sometimes I forget she can read me. "I need…" a friend but the words don't leave my mouth.
"What do you need?" She demands, annoyed with me.
I turn around and look at her, watching as she fidgets with her blanket out of boredom and anger. "Caitlin should wake up soon." I avoid her question.
"What are you going to do with us?" She asks completely disregarding my earlier statement.
"I don't know." I answer honestly.
"That's not helpful." She murmurs.
"What if I could get you out of here?" I ask.
She looks hopeful for a quick second before becoming suspicious.
"Just humor me." I say trying to get her to open up.
"How?" She replies.
"You are just going to have to trust me." I reply.
"What if I don't?" She counters.
"Then you can stay here forever." I tease.
She rolls her eyes before saying, "Then I guess I'll just have to trust you."
I laugh before speaking, "To bad I don't have a plan."
She gasps in mock surprise before hitting me with her pillow. I grab it from her and throw it back.
"Jerk." She says as I leave the room.
Line Break
"Hey Chase, I need a favor." I say as I walk through the threshold of his cell.
Chase just rolls his eyes at my demand. And I have to agree with him, I've already betrayed him and now I waltz in like we're the best of pals.
"How much of your Bionics can you access?" I ask.
"None." He states, glaring at me.
"Did Donald ever tell you about how your bionics were created?" I ask.
"No." Chase states, still glaring at me.
"Well bionics are basically these chips that get inserted into you nervous system that give you powers." I state.
"So?" Chase inquires, dropping the glare because he is curious.
"So are computer chips interchangeable?" I ask.
"Some are but I don't see what this has to do with anything." Chase states, he's perplexed.
"Did you know I was bionic? I have all the powers; strength, speed, knowledge, super senses, etc. Just weaker then what you and your siblings have." I state trying to get him to see what I'm saying.
"Okay." Chase says, still slightly confused.
"And here I thought you were the bright one." I mutter.
"Sorry I didn't catch that." Chase says.
"I was wondering if you and I were the same blood type could I give you my kidney, if you were missing one." I state, tying not to get frustrated with him.
I see realization dawn on his face before he replies with, "Yeah you could, but I don't know if we're the same blood type."
Relief floods through me, "Lucky for you I know that we are both AB positive."
Chase smiles, but then asks, "Where's my Chip?"
"Its still inside you, I think, buts its just being blocked." I reply.
"Anyway I got to go. Don't fall and get sent to the infirmary while I'm away." I say on my way out. I hope he catches do something to get your self in the infirmary.
"I wont." He says it with so much conviction that I think he caught on to my double meanings.
Line Break
I'm walking around aimlessly thinking about my imperfect escape plan when I hear Douglas calling me to Chases room over the intercom.
I begin running there before he's finished summoning me.
Line Break
"What's wrong?" I say the moment I step through the door.
"I don't know, I was just checking the security cameras and I saw Chase lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood. I didn't have time to check how it happened since I had to come here and stop the bleeding. He'll live but needs some stiches on his arm." Douglas says as he stops Chases bleeding with pressure bandages.
"Help me get him to the infirmary so he can be patched up." Douglas demands as he struggles with Chases weight.
I lift Chase and bring him to the infirmary with Douglas trailing behind us.
Maya gasps when we enter and bring Chase to one of the empty beds.
"Patch him up, while I go clean my self." Douglas says as he walks out.
"What happened?" Maya ask once Douglas leaves.
"I don't know, but I need your help." I say as I grab some materials.
"What can I do?" She asks as she rushes over.
"Bionics can heal him faster, but right now his aren't working. So I need you to take that scalpel over there and cut a small incision in my neck where the spine and neck meet. Right here." I point when I say the last part.
She nods in understanding so I continue.
"Then you should see a computer chip in my neck, I need you to take tweezers and pull it out. I can do the rest from there." I say.
Maya looks green and starts to protest, "But wont that hurt you? Couldn't that kill you if I do something wrong?"
Before she could voice more protests I say, "Remember when I said you'll have to trust me?" I ask.
She nods, still hesitant.
"You need to trust me now." I say grabbing her hand trying to get her to act.
"But-" She starts.
I cut her off, "Chase is dying, and we need to help him."
She glances at Chase, then at me. "You can't possibly be asking me to choose between saving Chase and hurting you."
"I'm not asking, I'm making the decision for you. Now hurry up before Douglas returns." I reply and shove a scalpel into her hand.
"Maya if you don't do this I'll have to, and I might kill myself since I can't see the back of my neck." I try to urge her into action.
Line Break
My neck feels like its on fire, and my consciousness is leaving me since Chase has my chip, which contains a message, and I have Chases useless one.
I grab some pain medication and adrenaline as Maya watches Chase heal. I inject myself with some so I can go through with step two.
I feel the medicine start to take affect as I watch Chase heal in front of me. Maya looks disgusted by all the blood, but relieved that Chase is going to be fine.
"You know your stupid right?" Maya asks.
"Wow, I was expecting a thank you for saving your boy friends life." I reply sarcastically.
Maya looks at me and says, "You're my friend too, even if you make bad choices."
I was shocked by that, expecting her to hate me for what I have one to her and her friends. But before I could reply Chase wakes up.
"What happened?" He asks as he sits up and takes in his surroundings.
Maya explains what happened as I walk over to Caitlin and unhook her from the machines. I then pick her up and say, "Lets get going, we don't have much time."
I leave them behind knowing they'll follow.
We end up in front of Brees door and I hand Caitlin over to Chase so I can open it. Once the door flies open I see a light brown head turn around and meet distrustful brown eyes.
When she sees us she begins to ask questions but I stop her. "I'll explain on the way, now lets go."
I take Caitlin back and Maya gestures for Bree to follow. I hear her sigh in frustration but she follows anyway.
Our last stop is Adams door and by the time we get there we meet an angry Douglas and some of his robots.
"Did you really think you could escape that easily?" He asks when he sees us.
"No, but one can hope right?" I say with my signature smirk.
A/N I know this chapter seemed a little rushed but I tried to squeeze as much as I could into it. Please excuse and spelling and/or grammar mistakes that I made I only looked it over once in a rush to upload it. Also sorry if I didn't get anything right when Chase cut his arm open, and Marcus experimenting with medicine to help him, I don't know much about stuff like that.
I want to thank all the wonderful reviews, follow, and favorites I got for this story. You guys are the reason I stuck with it!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
REPLIES:
HawiianChick12: Thanks for the review! I know Douglas is a jerk, in this story. On the show he kind of redeemed himself.
AwesomeWriter2013: Thank you, that means a lot. Sometimes it can be daunting to get back into the swing of things after you've been gone for a while. I meant to update this sooner but I had family stuff going on.
