Welcome back to Silver and the Quest for the Chaos Emerald!...which I'm getting sick of typing, so I'm gonna shorten the title to Silver's Quest to save me some time. Anyways...
Chapter 10 hasn't gotten a lot of views. That's fine, I was still pleased with the chapter myself. It was still action packed and I think I described what happened in the fight well. I'm also glad I got Sonic outta there, he's kinda hard to write for. Not THAT hard, but somewhat hard.
So, after beating John, Sonic went off on his own journey while Silver and Alot head to Soleanna to find a plane to cross continents with.
So, let's get this train rollin'!
Getting from the forests to Soleanna City took about a week, including breaks and such. I honestly wouldn't have been able to keep time to begin with if it wasn't for Alot bringing a pocket watch. Which was cool and all, but...who the hell uses pocket watches anymore?
Anyways, when we entered Soleanna (which fortunately allowed weapons inside, seeing as how both the local police and GUN soldiers patrol areas anyway), Alot pulled me towards a shop.
"What are we trying to get? Shouldn't we look for an airport or dock?" I asked.
"We're running low on supplies. Mostly food and water."
"WHAT?! Already? I bought enough to last us for at least another month."
"It's possible John stole some from us when he knocked you out. I DID hear him rummaging threw our packs."
Dammit, Puritans ARE smarter than I thought. "How much money do we have left?"
"Not enough for transportation. Soleanna's expensive when it comes to their boats, and airports have a habit for charging more than you have."
I looked around the area some, hoping to get an idea. I saw some GUN soldiers walking by, probably just doing a routine patrol. "What about asking GUN for any help? I have a friend that's pretty high up in their ranks."
"There are two things that prevent us from doing that. The first being GUN's being stingy. They don't hand out free rides to anyone unless it's an order, so unless you can find your friend and have him demand GUN a ride for us, I doubt they'll let us through."
Damn, I have no idea WHERE Shadow is, or how to even contact him.
"The second is I'm not the largest fan of the military. ANY military. They hardly fight the Puritans, they're more focused on Eggman. Freaking idiots. I'm not taking any ride from them, even if they offered."
Well, guess GUN isn't the only thick-headed one around here. But it does pose an interesting question. Who's the larger threat? Eggman, or the Puritans? Kinda gets me thinking...
On another subject and not the one I should be on. "We're getting off topic now. We need to find transportation, here and now."
Right at that moment, as if some mystical god in the universe wanted to cut me some slack, I heard a slick feminine voice right behind me. "I could probably help you with that."
I turned around, and Alot followed suit. Alot looked a bit on edge though, maybe because she sneaked up on us without him noticing. Knowing him, that rarely happens.
"Hmm, hedgehogs. My kind of animal." The woman was a cat, though she was MUCH different from Blaze. Her fur was gray, and her ears were larger than Blaze's. She DID have the yellow eyes, but her outfit was a bit tomboy-ish, as if she felt the urgent need to rebel against society. I was about to question her on two things, her name, and what the hell society did to her to make her rebel.
But she beat me to the punch on that question. The former, not the latter. "Name's Mira, Mira Tae. You two are?"
"This is Silver the Hedgehog, I'm Alot Iunak. We're looking for a ride to the Kimasa continent."
"Kimasa, huh? That's not exactly a tourist attraction." She examined Alot and I, then continued speaking. "They're not exactly fond with residents of Grayley. And you..." She pointed at me. "I can't even tell WHERE you're from, which isn't normal. I've been everywhere at least thrice, and I can figure out nationalities at this point."
"Maybe you missed a place?" I asked, hoping she wouldn't question things just yet. If she knew things, she might end up joining my quest. And I have enough interlopers in my journey back to the future, thank you. Please, make like a tree and get out of here.
"Impossible. I've hit every spot on my map, even the dangerous ones. You ever flown a plane to Northern Emilioka? Some say it's suicide." She said.
"You have a plane then. How much can we pay for a ride?" Alot asked bluntly.
"Tell you what. Give me his nationality, whatever it is, and I'll give you a ride." She said. No, Alot, do not. You will not. She will NOT join our-
"He's from the future, so I'm not sure yet. Could be Soleannan, could be from Grayley, who knows, really?" Alot said, once again in his classical blunt manner. Sigh. Why do people want to go with me?
"You're from the future? Damn, no wonder I can't tell. I might have to go there myself." She said. Well, she doesn't actually know yet, but I already know her. She's in the history books. She's an incredibly famous pilot, traveled everywhere, learned nearly every language, even fought in some wars. One day she took her plane and flew off, nobody knew where. She just up and disappeared.
"Alright, so you're clearly not heading to Kimasa for the tourism. What's there that you need?" She asked.
"A Chaos Emerald. I need them to travel back to the future." I said.
"Hmm. Tell you what, I'll help you. It'll give me something to do, places to fly. Things have been getting boring." She said. I FREAKING KNEW IT. GOD. You know what readers? New drinking game. Take a shot every time someone decides to join my quest without my consent.
"Alright then, where's the plane?" Alot asked.
"It's in a future, a future that none of you will ever be able to get to." A familiar voice said. A voice I knew all too well.
"Nega-Eggman!"
