They did not end. He suddenly seemed to trip and he steadied himself on a sign post. He froze.

"No." he whispered.

A lone figure stood leaning against a great twisted tree that rose up into the dry air around them. The sound of the lonely wind whistled overhead and various animals called into the darkness around them.

He slowly walked up to the figure, dressed in a orange and tan tunic, hands clasped in a meditative pose with his head bowed.

"Junior?" He asked cautiously, ignoring the stirring in his heart. He missed the his son. The warped sense of humor, the sound of his voice.

The figure raised his head suddenly as Q slowly reached out towards him. Q snapped his hand back, taking a step back.

"Who are you?" he hissed.

The figure smiled at him, but it was not the kindly smile of Junior, but a more evil grin. He was not Junior.

"You call me Junior, but my family calls me the Son." the stranger responded.

"I've certainly never heard of anyone named the Son."

"Really Q, this whole, I-am-God demeanor is not you. So far you have fallen." The Son walked towards the open road, compelling Q to follow him.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Q replied coldly, walking beside him at a distance.

"Really, you have so much potential and you waste it in this tantrum."

"What are you?"

"I am a One, a member of the Mortis, an immortal being, unlike youself."

"You are an alien presence in my mind." Q interjected coldly. "Why bring me here? Did you think to unbalance me?"
The Son smiled.

"I didn't bring you here, you've been here. This is your homeworld after all, not mine."

"This place is the source of my strength. It is where no one else could ever enter, unless I say so."

"You really believe that?" The Son asked wryly.

"Get off my world." Q hissed and took a step forward.

"I came with a simple message. Something for you to dwell on."

"Enough! Say your peace and leave my home. You and yours shall pay for this affront to a member of the Q Continuum. "

"Q, is that what you want? A war with the Ones? The Dark side, it snaps to my my whim, I am the very essence of the Dark side of the Force. How long before your Continuum is damaged beyond repair? How long before you can no longer walk on the ground of this planet?" The Son asked seriously.

Q was about to snarl a reply when a small boulder shook itself free of the ground and hurled at Q. He leaped to the side to avoid it, looking up to see the Son sneering at him.

"That's just a small taste of the power that I wield".

"Get off my planet!" he roared at him. The Son seemed shook his head lightly.

"Leave before I kill you!"

"She is here." The Son whispered in his ear. Q froze. The Son was standing right by his side, head cocked in close to Q's ear. "Can you feel her? She has come back to you."

"No." Q whispered.

"No?" The Son asked pointedly. Q whirled, aiming to punch him but the Son was no longer at his side. He was at the far end of the clearing standing on a rock.

"No?" The Son asked, his appearance that of a fierce dragon. The slow rhythmic breathing seemed to banish all other sounds. Q stared at the apparition.

"I won't listen to you!"

"Oh, you will, in time."

"I am strong, I am powerful, the truth has made me rise above the lies and nonsense."

"That is why you fail."

The moonlight dimmed as clouds passed over, and all he heard was the breathing then there was nothing but silence.
