I'm back at last! Glad to be finally be free from exams! (for now, at least) So sorry I was away for so long... :-/

In a fit of frustration, Jamie ripped the page out from the notebook, crumpled it up and flung it at the wastepaper basket several feet away. Just like the others, it bounced off the edge and fell onto the cold tiled floor. Jamie glanced at it for several moments before turning back to what was left of his notebook and tried to focus on writing a decent sentence, but the words just wouldn't come. Finally, he looked up from the blank page and stared out the window, admiring the view of the college building in the distance set against a background of visible buildings and passing clouds. It was actually nice to look at if he didn't think of assignments and teachers and the like. For a moment, Jamie was lost in his own world, but was immediately brought back to the present upon spotting a familiar flying figure in the distance, which seemed to be heading towards the window.

"Jack!" He leaped to his feet and fumbled with the window latch. He threw it open as the winter spirit came flying up, a grin plastered on his pale face. It was hard to decide whose grin was wider; Jamie or Jack's. A draft entered, blowing Jamie's notes and papers off his desk and out the window as the boy struggled to catch them.

"Haven't seen you in such a long time, kiddo!" the winter spirit greeted, flying through the window and landing in the room. He glanced around. "You know those taverns that double as inns in the old days? This place looks like the rooms there."

A dictionary acted as a paper weight as Jamie stuffed his notes beneath it, all the while facing the winter spirit, who settled on the front rail of the bed. The boy flopped onto the mattress, and found the sudden temperature drop rather comforting. "It's been two months. Where have you been?" Jamie asked, and instantly wanted to slap himself. He sounded so needy, so desperate, so dependent. It was ironic that he was even in college at that moment. "I'm sorry, I..." he began.

"Well, you left so suddenly. You didn't even tell me you were coming here. I showed up outside your window, but your room was empty and I could see you've left. Sophie said you were in college, but she wasn't entirely sure where," Jack replied, cutting off Jamie's apology. He smirked slightly. "I can't say I've been looking for you for two months, though." There was a pause. "So, how are things here?"

Jamie shrugged, staring at the floor, his hands clasped. "Isn't as bad as I thought, I guess," he answered. "Hey, did you know that I'm sharing this place with Monty?" Jamie broke into a smile, before getting to his feet and heading towards the door. "He's right in the next room, on that console of his again, I suppose. He'll be so thrilled to see you!"

"Jamie, who's that you're talking to?" Monty's voice floated towards the two of them as Jamie pushed open the door. Sounds of clashing swords, groans and yells were audible as they neared Monty's door. Jamie knocked once before entering, grinning widely. His friend cast him a quick glance before turning back to his game. "What's with the sudden joy?" he asked, as one of knight got hit in the head with a club wielded by a cyclops.

"We have a visitor," responded Jamie.

"Really? Who is it?" Monty said, not tearing his eyes away from the screen as he skillfully maneuvered his knight around the cyclops and beheaded it. He whooped in delight.

Jamie rolled his eyes. "Come on, Monty, can you just spare a second? Jack's here."

Monty turned so fast, he could hear his neck crick. "Ow..." he began, reaching up to his neck, before Jamie stepped aside and granted Jack entry. Monty's eyes widened for a moment before he dropped his controller and threw his arms around the spirit, oblivious to the cold radiating from him. Jack awkwardly patted the bespectacled boy on the back, before they broke apart. "Whoa, Monty, you seemed to have become more... eloquent."

Monty shrugged, beaming. "That's a good thing, isn't it?" he said, before flopping back down on his bean bag picking up his controller. "Hey, Jamie, I never told you about this before, but you have to check it out!" Monty pressed a few buttons, bringing up a series of pictures of enemies on the screen. As Jamie and Jack peered at it, the boy scrolled down and selected one of the portraits of a white-haired middle-aged man with an angry scowl. The name of the enemy character flashed across the top of the screen: Jack Frost. "I know it's not you, but I think it's cool!" Monty continued as Jamie and Jack exchanged glances. "I've missed you Guardians so much I just had to imagine this character as you. Though he's pretty easy to defeat; one swing of the machete is all it takes."

"That's... disturbing," Jamie replied, an eyebrow raised. "But I see your point."

Monty paused the game and got back up, turning to face the winter spirit. "So, Jack, what are you doing here? But congratulations on successfully finding Jamie here!"

"I'm just dropping in for a visit. Thought maybe you could use a little fun." A mischievous smile stretched across his face. "I mean, I do know what colleges are like, with all the work and stuff. I don't think this form of fun..." he gestured at the game. "...is enough, am I right?"

Jamie and Monty exchanged a knowing smile. "But what do you suggest we do? It's not exactly a snow day out there today," the bespectacled boy asked.

Jack glanced out of the window in Monty's room. "But it sure is cloudy," he said, turning back to the boys, smirking.

"Jamie Bennett?!"

"Oh no," Jamie said, as he glanced downwards, spotting a familiar face on the ground, ten feet below, staring up at him. In shock, Monty and Jamie nearly let go of Jack's staff. Jack hurriedly flew them back down to terra firma. Kendra stood outside the house, eyes wide and mouth hanging open, and in one hand, she held Jamie's fallen shoe. Her eyes darted from Jamie to Monty and back again, before they turned to Jack. Her surprised expression then disappeared, reappearing on Jamie, Jack and Monty's faces.

"You can see him?"

"You can see me?"

The girl snorted. "Of course," she said, turning to Jack, smiling. "You're Jack Frost, aren't you? Guardian of fun, spirit of winter. You bring snow and blizzards and freeze ponds. It's great to finally meet you." She extended her right hand, and the two of them awkwardly shook hands. She turned to Jamie and handed him his piece of footwear. "And I think this is yours. It missed by an inch."

"Sorry," Jamie mumbled, taking his shoe back and putting it on, remembering to tighten the laces. "Thanks." A moment of silence passed over the little company before Monty spoke up.

"So, how did you know he's Jack Frost? You actually believe?"

Kendra shrugged. "I read Jamie's book. I guess I never really told you this before, but I saw the battle of Burgess."

"What?" Monty was genuinely surprised. "You were in Burgess at that time?"

Kendra checked the time on her watch, before taking a few steps backwards. "Yeah, well, you know how strict my father is about my sleeping hours. I couldn't get out even if I wanted to. I just watched from my window, fascinated, wondering if I was awake or dreaming. Guess I wasn't dreaming after all. Now, if you'll excuse me, I really have to go. See you around!" She waved, turned and continued her jog. Half a metre away from them, she turned and called, "Have fun flying!"

"Are you really sure no one can see us?" Monty was skeptical, as he glanced downwards at the clouds and felt slightly fearful. "Are you really sure we're safe up here? Jamie?"

Jamie and Monty clung onto Jack's staff, as the winter spirit took them for a ride in the sky. Jamie had flown with Jack many times, so it wasn't something new to him, but every trip was as exhilarating as the previous one, if not, even more so. But Monty was not exactly 'seasoned', as Jamie put it, and was seeing his life flash before his eyes as Jack flew even faster, enjoying himself, though often turning to check on the boys. Though there were two of them, the burden was not much felt when they were flying.

"Welcome aboard the 'Fly-with-Jack Express', Monty, where anything can happen!" Jamie yelled over the whistling sound of the wind, exchanging grins with Jack.

Monty gulped. "Yeah, that made me feel a whole lot better," he said, bitterly.

Thanks for reading! Do tell me if you found these chapters boring... And again, I'm so sorry for not updating for so long. :-/
