A/N: Oh, hey guys. Sorry for being lazy with updates. This is just a short piece to hold you over, the actual chapter should be up shortly.
Moments later we pulled into the school parking lot. I was already beginning to regret even coming out of the house, and it's taking every ounce of my self control not to drop Chloe off and turn right back around. I could just go back home, crawl into bed... But on the other hand, I can't. I have to face whatever is to happen today with "courage" so it won't be worse down the line. I slowly drove to the back of the lot and found a spot that was far from any other vehicle to prevent and further damage. I reluctantly put my car in park and turned off the car, taking a minute to mentally and emotionally prepare myself.
Maybe everyone forgot? I shake my head. Unlikely.
"You don't have to be here, Becs." Chloe grabs my hand againand gives me a reassuring squeeze. "We could go-"
"No, Chloe." I turn to look her in the eyes, and offer a sad smile. "I have to just get whatever is gonna happen over with, okay? I'll be fine."
"You don't know that..." She says quietly.
"You're right, I don't, but it doesn't matter."
"It matters to me!" She says. "I don't care if you don't care about yourself, but I do. I'm not gonna let you stay on this self-destructive path that leads no place good." I pull my hand away and open the door, stepping out of the car. Chloe is quick to follow and is by my side in seconds.
"Seriously Beca!" Ignoring her and locking my car, we set off toward the school entrance. She sighs, knowing that the conversation is over.
We've only made it halfway through the parking lot when a white Jeep with black tinted windows nearly runs us over, coming to a stop with a loud screech literally inches away from us.
"Fuck!" I pull Chloe behind me protectively. "Stay back, Chlo." I walk up to the Jeep cautiously and knock on the driver's dark window. "Hey, asshole, open up!" I say, still knocking. The window rolls down to reveal some jock, who is no doubt on some athletic team. His hair is dark brown, he has an impressive jaw structure, and piercing brown eyes. He's wearing a sickening smirk.
"Yes, how could I help you?" His voice is deep and he has a thick English accent. I recognize him now. Riley Addington, Senior, foreign exchange student from Norfolk. He moved here a few months back and quickly made friends because of his looks and accent.
"You could start by explaining what the hell that was!" I shout, throwing my arms in the air.
"I'm not too sure what you're referring to." He says apologetically. I start to wonder if what just happened was purely an accident, until I notice who's in the passenger's seat. I make eye contact with her and a wave of anger rushes through me.
"Oh, hey dyke. You decided to show up today? Good." Ryan says, all while filing her nails, turning her hand over and examining her work. She puts the nail file into a cupholder and pulls out a small mirror. "We have some things to 'discuss'." She and Riley laugh and the window rolls up.
"Let's go Beca, before anything happens." I turn around and try to shoo Chloe away, but she stays and tries to usher me from the Jeep. I stand my ground and knock on the window again, this time the door opening and knocking me to the ground.
"Sorry... What was it that Ry called you? Oh, right. Sorry, dyke, you should have moved out of the way." He laughs again and shuts his door while I scramble to get off the ground. Once up, I notice that he's opened up the door and is digging around for something.
"You're an asshole." I say, wiping my scraped hands on my jeans. Just as I'm about to leave with Chloe, Riley pulls me back and shoves me into the side of his car.
"Are you ready for our discussion now, or should we wait until everyone is here?" Ryan says, appearing from around the back of the vehicle.
"We might as well talk now..." Riley says, revealing a large metal baseball bat from behind his back. What is this, the 70s?!
A/N: Like I said, the rest should be up shortly. If you'd like something specific to happen, just review! All reviews are welcome and cherished.
