Expecting to wake up in a wagon, I find myself in a warm, big, comfortable bed that could probably fit at least 3 or 4 of me in it. Near the door of the room, I find Monroe with a worried look on his face.
"What-How did I end up here?" I say, almost as soft as a whisper.
"You fainted. The doctors think it was just shock." he replies.
"Yeah right." I say, as I am just thinking about going to sleep in this amazing bed.
"Why would I kid? You probably think I am a monster-" he starts to say.
"Can I just get some sleep?" I say as I cut him off.
"It's the middle of the day." he says back with a little tone in his voice yet sincere at the same time.
"Sleep deprivation."
"If you go to sleep now, you will be up all night and that would just make it worse. How about going for a walk?" he suggests.
If he thinks he can just say you're my daughter and expect me to just be ok with that, he is crazy. And he is right, he is monster. He is a sociopath.
"No, thank you." I say, as polite as I have ever been.
"Ok then. See you at dinner. Please wear something nice." he says and leaves.
I get out of bed, which takes a lot of energy by the way, and look around my "room" aka my cell. Books, he does know something about me. I put my finger on the binding on the books and walk, feeling and looking at each book. He has so many books. As I am looking, my finger stops on a book: Alice in Wonderland. I have read a lot of books but for some reason I never liked classics. Might as well try to get into them now. I sit on one of the two plush chairs and start reading the book.
Before I can even finish the second chapter, there is a knock on my door and a voice says "It's time for dinner, Miss Monroe."
I look into my closet to find 3 dresses, a couple shirts and pairs of pants. I pick out a plain dark yellow dress that went down to my ankles. Then I quickly put on a pair of white tights. I don't know why he wanted me to "wear something nice", it's just dinner. I also don't know why I actually followed his order, which is super weird considering I never follow orders. I open the door to find it not locked and the guard standing at the door leads me to dinner.
