Hey everyone! Yep, I'm still alive!

So so sorry for the long wait, but I'm so busy, I have exams and all, so it's hard.

SO, my apologies for this chapter, because I'm not really proud about it, but I just wanted to prove that I was still there.

So, enjoy!

The next day, at the breakfast table, Alexis was still thinking about this. Her grandmother was right. Kate had never said that she didn't want to see her. She had been too young to realize that before, but now, she was free to spend time with whoever she wanted, right?

"Dad?" She said.

"Yeah Pumpkin?"

"I might get home late today after school, so don't wait for me, okay?"

"You have plans?"

"Yeah, and it might take a while so I'm not sure I'll be back for dinner."

"You won't forget to eat, right?"

"Don't worry, I will..."

They ate in silence for a while before Castle spoke.

"May I ask you what those plans are?"

Alexis thought about it.

"Hum, yeah... It's just... You know, there is this... Science project. And Paige and I are doing it together, so we decided to work on it today..."

Rick pretended to be offended.

"Seriously?! A science project and you're not doing this with me? What is it about?"

"Dad, you know you will always be my favourite partner", Alexis joked, happy that her father had bought her story. "It's just that... We have to explain the results of the project in front of the class, so I highly doubt you can help me... Besides, you wouldn't like it, it's nothing really interesting, something about flowers and light. All you have to do is wait."

Rick pretended to think about it and then took a threatening voice.

"You're forgiven... For this time only!"

"Thank you dad, love you, have a good day!"

"Oh wait, I thought you had the first period off?"

"I do, but I'm meeting Paige. You know, to talk about the project..."

"Okay. Have a good day then."

After his daughter had left, Rick started putting the dishes into the sink when his phone rang.

"Castle. Are you kidding? Of course I'm in! I'll be right there!"

A half hour later, Castle arrived at the precinct and started looking for Beckett. Suddenly, he heard her.

"Go put all that in the conference room. Oh, and wait! There are others like that. Apparently, his fans love him as much as he loves himself."

"And if I remember, you are one of them, right?" Castle asked with a seductive voice. "Rick, stop it, you said you would get her back, this is NOT the right way."

But Kate didn't seem to worry about it, since she acted like she hadn't heard anything.

"You know what Castle? I still don't understand why you accepted to come. I thought you never read your fan letters."

"I don't, but if that means I'm gonna spend the whole day with you, I'm more than willing to make an exception."

Beckett rolled her eyes and chose not to answer to that.

"Go in the conference room and wait for me, I'll make coffee, we'll need it. And do not touch ANYTHING, got it?"

"Got it!"

Kate sighed and went to the break room, but someone called her.

"Katie! Kate!"

She turned around, surprised, and she was face to face with... Alexis Castle.

"Alexis? Hey, why aren't you at school? Are you here to see your dad? Is everything okay?" she asked, with evident concern in her voice.

Alexis couldn't help laughing. Kate looked so different that she had last night that it was reassuring.

"What's funny?"

"Nothing, it's just... You sound like my dad!" She realized her mistake as soon as the words slipped out of her mouth. "I mean... not that you are like him, it's just... you sound so worried. More like my Grams, actually."

But Kate was still saying nothing, and she looked like she had been hit.

"Kate? Are you okay?"

The detective smiled slightly. It wasn't Alexis's fault, right? She probably didn't know anything.

"No, yes, I'm fine... But I mean it, why aren't you at school?"

"I have the first period off, so I thought I would stop by" Alexis said, feeling better. "But you look busy."

"Uh, yeah. But if you have something to tell me, I can..."

"No, it's okay, it can wait. Are you free tonight?"

"Yes, I finish my shift at four. If you want to see me, I could pick you up at school and we could talk?"

"Um, yeah, that sounds great. So, see you later? Around five?"

"See you later."

"Oh, and Kate? Don't tell my dad I was here, okay?"

Kate nodded. Of course, she wouldn't tell Rick anything! She intended to avoid talking to him as much as possible.

As Alexis was leaving, she got back to making coffee, but she felt uncomfortable. Why would Alexis want to talk to her? If she had been sent by her dad, she would shoot him...

That's it for today, sorry it was so short!

I will try to make the next chapter longer (and sooner) and I promise you that there will be nice Castle/Beckett scènes, but also Beckett/Alexis.

I'm trying to make something like this scene in the first episode where Castle tries to guess why Beckett is here, because I loved it, but it's gonna be hard since they already know each other!

Thank you for reading

XOXO
