Hours had passed and Luffy hadn't moved from his spot next to the door, he waited his face tear stained his eyes red and his body unmoving as he tried to listen out for any sign Asha was ok.
The door opened slowly creaking as it did so.
Lea and chopper walked out slowly looking tired with blood stained scrubs as they removed their gloves and walked in to the open. Luffy and serenade jumped to their feet to hear the long awaited news.
"We stopped the bleeding, broken bones are set. She just needs rest and fluids she will be fine again in no time." Lea smiled at her captain.
"Thank you!" Serenade whispered as she hugged Lea tightly before letting her go and picking up chopper "Thank you!" she cried as she put chopper down.
Before Luffy could follow Serenade into the room he was stopped by Nami "Let her see Asha alone for a while Luffy." Luffy nodded not showing much emotion he sat by the door again while it was closed behind serenade as she entered.
"Hey little girl." Serenade smiled weakly as she sat next to her pale daughter. Her skin was cold to touch her hair matted with blood only noticeable as the blood was now black. Blood stains on her face as bruises had began to appear. A mask over her mouth and nose helping her breath. Her arm in a cast with the other bandaged up her torso bandaged covering the gaping hole which was there not too long ago. Her legs bandaged showing faintly the extent of her dark almost black bruised legs.
Serenade held her hand softly "You did good."
She had no idea what to say, she barely knew her daughter the last time she saw her she was a small baby born early and very sick she remembers worrying every night weather her daughter would make it through the night. That was how she met Lea she was the doctor who performed the emergency c-section to bring Asha in to this world. Serenade eventually befriended the slightly older doctor and she joined serenade to watch other Asha and decided to stay even after Asha left the ship.
She didn't know how to act in this situation she couldn't hold her in her arms and sing to her like she used to. She didn't leave her by choice. She knew Asha would be in danger if she stayed with her and even if she stopped being a pirated the government would still be after her and Asha again wouldn't be safe. The only thing she could do was leave Asha with her mother, she would be safe with her.
She couldn't help but feel useless at this point and scared. "I love you Asha!" she smiled as she kissed the girls head "I'll let you rest, a certain young man is keen to come see you." She stated as she walked out of the room smiling to Luffy as she held the door for him.
Luffy nodded as he walked into the room. He took a deep breath as he looked at her bruised and battered body. Walking over to the sink he began running the water until warm he filled a bowl with water picking up a rag as he approached Asha. Sitting beside her he began washing the blood from her face.
"You're really strong Asha. But please don't do that to me again. I thought I was going to lose you." He whispered as he wiped the blood from around her eyes. Her eyes fluttered slightly as they began to slowly open. Luffy eyes widened as he caught her gaze "Asha!" he smiled as tears formed in his eyes.
"Lu...Lu...fffy" she stuttered as she began to cough.
"Rest don't talk!" Luffy ordered as he kissed her cheek. He sat with her holding her hand and telling her stories about his adventures and watching her smile and laugh a little.
