Shane: Chapter 2: The Emerald Forest

"Shane. Wake up." Brian said loudly "C'mon. You're gonna be late."

"No, gimme another hour or two." Shane pleaded

"In an hour you'll miss everything. Now if you don't get up, I'm leaving you behind."

Brian was right. Initiation was today and if Shane missed it, he'd be kicked out of the school he tried so hard to get into before day one even started. Still, Shane was not a morning person, so getting up at seven in the morning was hell for him.

"You go on ahead." Shane said finally sitting up "I'll meet you and the girls in the locker room." Seeing as they were late, Brian didn't really argue with Shane as he dashed on ahead.

As Shane rolled up his sleeping bags and got all of his things in order, he couldn't help but recall what happened yesterday. Right after Shane got off the airship with his new friends, they got lost for a little while and just started roaming the school grounds. Minus Brian though, they didn't really mind. Seeing the place was kinda fun. Finally, after what had seemed like hours of mindlessly roaming, the four found their destination just in time for the headmaster's introduction. The headmaster, Professor Ozpin looked like a very intelligent and kind man, but even Shane could tell that something was a little off with him. He didn't really make eye contact with the crowd as he spoke and his speech really didn't have any life to it. It was as if he were nothing more than a robot reading what he was programmed to say and keeping his real thoughts bundled up in his head. Regardless of that though, Shane still loved the speech and smiled as the professor spoke.

The others might've thought he was weird for his nonstop smiling, but Shane just couldn't help it. He was at Beacon getting lectured by the Professor Ozpin. It was probably boring as hell to the others, but it kept him restless all night. Well, that and there were four girls arguing in the back. It was obnoxious, but not enough to keep Shane from being in a great mood, and today was supposed to be even better.

Right after Shane hauled himself out of bed and ate an amazing breakfast, he met his friends in the locker room.

"About time you made it slow poke!" April said happily as he walked into the room "Find your weapon and let's get going! We got Grimm to slaughter!"

"It's fine." Shane said raising his right arm, showing off his silver gauntlet "Full Moon is all I need and I practically wear it all day everyday anyway."

"You sleep with you weapon on?" Ashley questioned

"You must be a very cautious person." Brian said

"Yeah." Shane answered with a nervous chuckle "You could say that."

The girls simply nodded their heads and understood, but once again, Brian was skeptical of Shane. He was a very analytical person, and that would be a big problem if he caught on to Shane's past and secrets, so he was really praying he wouldn't think so much into it and just let it go.

"Hey, where is everyone else?" Shane asked noticing the vacant room.

"We were waiting for you." Brian said annoyed "Now we are late."

"Yeah like really, REALLY late!" April pouted "So let's go! I wanna make some heads roll!"

"Is she always this excited when we're about to fight?" Shane asked

"Are you always this late when you're about to do something?" Brian asked

"Alright everybody please calm down." Ashley said "Let's just head over to the cliff and meet up with the others."

Without another word, we dashed through the locker room and out towards the cliff leading to the Emerald Forest, the place Ashley said initiation would take place.

Once we were there, Professor Ozpin and his assistant, Glenda Goodwitch were already in the middle of talking. The only thing I really caught was that the first person you look at would be your partner for the next four years and that we have to find some relic in the forest.

"Are there any questions?" The professor asked

Everyone was quiet, except for one blond boy in armor who raised his hand in fear.

"Yeah, um, sir-" the boy said

"Good." The professor said ignoring him "Now, take your positions."

Still though, the boy raised his hand in concern while everyone got ready.

"Yeah, um...sir? I have a question." the boy continued

Immediately, the stone square one of the student's was standing on launched a girl into the air, towards the forest.

"So, this uh, landing strategy thing. Are you dropping us off?"

"No. You will be falling." The professor finally answered

As they spoke, more and more people were launched into the air.

"I see...so...did you hand our parachutes for us?"

"No. You will be using your own landing strategy."

"I see...so, what exactly is a landing strate-"

Before he could finish, the square launched him into the air, but unlike everyone else, he flailed around in panic as he screamed like a girl.

"Good luck." Ashley said to Shane as she got ready, but before he could say anything back, he was thrown into the air.

Shane was caught off guard, but he still wasn't screaming like the one blond haired kid. Shane might not have gone to a school before Beacon, but he was still just as experienced. In fact, he was one year younger than nearly everyone else in the school, so he was pretty confident in his skills.

As he made his decent, he touched the golden circle on his gauntlet, Full Moon, causing it to slightly shoot up. Once it was up, a large, circular plate shot out from the golden circle, creating a large, silver, circular shield that was big enough to cover everything from his head to his waist at once. The rim of the shield was completely golden and there were three big, golden circles, each bigger than the other drawn on the shield that were evenly spread out. It was a simple shield, but highly effective, and had tons of tricks and gadgets installed in it.

Finally, when he came into contact with the trees he simply hid behind his shield and he plowed through them all, breaking them as if they were made of straw, and even better, with each tree he rushed through, it slowed his decent down, so as soon as he was close to the ground, all he had to do was roll and keep running.

"Hello?" He yelled out as he finally started to slow down "Anybody around here?"

He searched around with Full Moon, ready for anything, but the forest was silent. He couldn't even hear the sounds of wildlife that usually boomed through the woods. Then, he heard a loud noise that sounded like a tree falling. True, he had bulldozed through about a dozen trees before he even landed, but this one didn't come from behind him. It came from somewhere in front, and even stranger, he saw a ton of smoke coming from that area.

"Finally." Shane said to himself "Some action."

As fast as Shane could, he dashed through the forest towards the fire. He was used to running through wild forest and jungles, you could almost say it was Shane's element. He didn't have problem, dodging trees, jumping over streams of water or even swinging from branch to branch occasionally, but like everyone else, he eventually got tired and stopped by a lake to rest.

"That place is a lot farther than I thought." He said gasping for air

Then, Shane walked over to the lake and took a big drink. He smiled in satisfaction as the cool, clear water slid down this throat, re-energizing him. He would've drank some more, but he was interrupted by the sound of running coming from the right of him.

Quickly, Shane spun around, Full Moon at the ready and prepared to fight, but instead of Grimm, two girls rushed past him. The first was a girl in all white, with white hair tied into a pony tail who wore a white dress with the Schnee insignia on her back and a rapier in her hand. She was cute, but the girl following her made Shane's jaw drop. She was a beautiful girl in a red and black dress with the same colored hair and a long red hood that flowed in the wind as she dashed behind her comrade. Her unique silver eyes seemed to sparkle and her large red scythe looked as awesome as the girl looked cute.

"Damn." Shane said to himself

Shane had traveled a lot and known tons of cute girls, but she was just on another level. Unfortunately, the two girls sprinted past Shane, not even realizing his existence. He stood still, awestruck for awhile, but the sound of howling snapped him back into reality.

Chasing the girls were five Beowolves, big, black and evil monsters that hunted in packs. The two girls who they were chasing didn't even seem to notice the Grimm since they didn't seem scared at all, but Shane didn't want the Beowolves to sneak up on the two girls and do them any harm.

So, being the badass hero Shane was, before they could get to far, Shane through his shield directly in front of the Beowolf leading the hunt causing it to stop and look in Shane's direction. Being the badass weapon it was, Full Moon bounced off a tree or two and landed back into Shane's hands.

"Sorry guys." Shane said with a smile "But I can't let you go any farther."

The Grimm started to growl at him as they slowly moved towards him, surrounding him in all directions. Shane wasn't nervous though. In fact, he was eager to get the party started. If anything, the monsters were the ones who should have been nervous. They hesitated to make the first move as they walked in a circle around Shane.

Finally, one from behind Shane sprinted forwards towards him, claws and fangs ready to tear him apart. Without looking, Shane simply backflipped over it, causing the monster to quickly rejoin the circle, looking angrier and hungrier than before.

"That all you got?" Shane asked confidently.

Again, the monsters attacked, but this time, two charged instead of just one. Before the first could hit him, Shane quickly spun around his claw, leaving Shane a wide open attack to the monster's side, so naturally, Shane took it, punching the Grimm with his shield and knocking it far back. As for the second, Shane didn't dodge, but ran towards the Beowolf and kneed it right in the chin, sending him flying in the air. Before it landed, Shane threw his shield at the mid air monster, but unlike last time, Full Moon's four, golden symmetrical blades came out, one in each direction, pointing north, south, east and west. Then, the blades started to rotate at an insane speed, giving it the ability to slice through the Beowolf's torso with ease. Enraged, another wolf attacked, but without his shield Shane couldn't block it. Instead, he dodged each claw slash and jab the monster threw at him, ducking and weaving as the monster tried to rip him apart, but as soon as he saw an opening, punched the Beowolf in the chest as hard as he could.

Shane didn't look like it, but he was extremely strong. Like, ridiculously strong, and as a result, the Belwolf flew through the forest and slammed its head on a tree. After that, the monster stopped moving.

Finally, Full Moon had come back to his hand, but it was too late. Just inches behind Shane was a Beowolf with its mouth wide open and its fangs ready to dig into Shane's skin. Shane sensed it with his aura so he wasn't too caught off guard. Besides, his semblance would easily get him out of the situation unscathed, but before he could activate it, Shane heard a loud gun shot go off, and felt a bullet whiz past his head, just a hair away from his ear.

When Shane turned around, he saw a dead Beowolf with a large bullet whole in the monster's head. After that, Shane heard two more gun shots go off simultaneously and watched as the two monsters he hadn't take care of yet drop to the ground lifeless.

"Who's there?" Shane asked looking around, but there was no one in sight.

"I-I'm sorry if you wanted to take care of that yourself." A girl said.

Shane looked around for the voices owner, but still saw nothing. Then, directly in front of him, a pair of red boots started to become visible and just like the boots, someone started to appear in from of him from the feet up.

"Hey!" Shane said surprised "Aren't you the girl who's boobs I grabbed yesterday?"
