Chapter 29

"Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself." –Rumi

"Do you have any idea what I've been through!?" Connor Jordan paces the small space in front of Shane's desk like a wild animal. If any student seeking the wisdom of their professor were to walk in at this very moment, they'd likely get a knife to the jugular. "I've spent the last two days chained up by an original vampire!"

"So, you met Klaus?" Shane responds leaning forward eagerly to hear what Connor has to say. "I only know him by reputation. Apparently, he's a real monster."

"He's a vampire-werewolf hybrid." Connor deadpans, slamming his hands down on Shane's desk causing the professor to jump back in surprise. "Do you know how hard it is to kill them?"

"From what I gather, you have to remove their head or their heart." Shane murmurs, rubbing his chin in deep thought. "That is according to lore." Shane sighs, shrugging his shoulders. "I'm just speculating."

"I had to figure out how to do it on my own." Connor grits while narrowing his eyes on the dark haired man in front of him. "I could have used some of this occult Professor knowledge of yours. Then again, you've always been slow when it comes to providing answers." Connor smiles bitterly, his tone losing patience.

"We had a deal." Shane says clasping his hands together on the desk. "I'll give you answers about your hunter's mark when it's grown to completion."

"In other words," Connor snarls pushing himself off the desk to walk around the room, "kill as many vampires as possible."

"Come on, Connor," Shane goads leaning back in his chair to eye the hunter warily. "Why do you think I sent you to Mystic Falls? There's no shortage of vampires! That town is practically infested." Shane mutters to himself as he stands from his chair and comes around to stop in front of Connor. A look of contemplation befalls his features as he chews over something in his mind. "Listen, there's a witch mixed up in all of this. She's important to what I have planned," Shane speaks urgently his face pinching up in mild pain at the next words from his mouth. "Along with another girl, she's very special to me and plays an even bigger role than the witch."

"Alba Martinez," Connor interrupts Shane making the professor nod his head.

"She's the one, yes. I need her and the witch to be kept out of harm's way." Shane demands causing Connor to tense at being told what to do.

"What does Alba have to do with any of this?" Connor asks more for himself than anything. He can't deny that the dark haired beauty has struck a chord within him. He needs to know who or what she is.

"That's not something you need to worry about," Shane bites, a hard edge slicing through his words surprising the hunter. "She's to be kept safe at all costs." Even though Connor silently agrees to keep Alba safe, his anger gets the best of him.

"Anybody gets in my way." Connor takes a step forward so he's towering over professor Shane's small form, "Anybody. They're dead."

"Okay." Shane nods enthusiastically swallowing the fear that has lodged itself in his throat. "Sure. I'll occupy them myself. Just do what you do." Shane waves Connor off as he moves back around to his desk. "The less I know about it the better."

Alba

A cool breeze filters through the open balcony doors causing Goosebumps to erupt across my bare back. I nuzzle deeper under the covers trying to get away from the cold, but I only succeed in stirring the man next to me.

"Morning, love," I close my eyes in content when Klaus's lips brush against my exposed shoulder. "Did you sleep well?" I smile at the husky dip in his voice as I roll over to face him. He's sprawled on his back with the sheet covering him from the waist down. The desire that burns in my belly is almost instantaneous as I trail my eyes over every dip and curve of his hard stomach to the smooth stretch of muscle that makes up his chest. I'm a little disappointed when I find his hands are positioned comfortably under his head obscuring them from my view. "Love?" The teasing lilt in Klaus's voice is what finally draws my eyes back to his face. Stubble peppers his chin making him look even more ruggedly handsome as a playful fire dances in his blue eyes. "Care to share what's on your mind?" He smirks devilishly quirking his eyebrow in question when I fail to answer him.

I simply shake my head and sigh dramatically.

"Now what would be the fun in that?" I ask rhetorically, grinning when Klaus's smirk widens gleefully. "In fact, sharing is no fun at all. Showing you, however," I whisper bending down to capture Klaus's ear gently between my teeth before giving it a slight tug that earns me a soft groan in response. "Showing you will be a lot of fun." I murmur kissing and suckling where his pulse point should be while I dance my fingers down the deep grooves of his abdomen.

"Alba," the breathy strain in Klaus's whisper causes heat to pool in the pit of stomach as I throw one leg over his hip and haul myself up so I'm straddling him. One of his hands has no trouble finding my hip while the other tangles in my hair and tugs me down until my lips crash into his.

Can you hear it whisper?

Can you hear it cry?

I moan at the contact allowing Klaus to easily slip his tongue in my mouth. I don't fight him for dominance this time as I let him have me. I slam my hands against the bed, bracing myself, when both of Klaus's hands slide down my back to the curve of my ass.

Do you see the beast,

In your eyes?

"Did you hear that?" I ask out of breath as I lift my head in alarm.

"I didn't hear a thing," Klaus mutters, grabbing the back of my thighs before effortlessly flipping us over so he's the one on top. I gasp softly at the sudden change in position, but it soon turns into a breathy moan when Klaus attacks my neck. I lull my head back allowing him better access as my eyes drift shut in pleasure.

Can you feel its pull?

It's subtle rage.

I furrow my brows in concentration when I hear the whisper again. I open my eyes to see if Klaus heard it this time, but he chooses that moment to position himself at my entrance. Every thought I have flies out the window when I feel him against my core.

"Klaaus," I plea almost desperately, bucking my hips impatiently when he doesn't make a move to go further. I watch through hooded eyes as the hybrid leers down at me with so much arrogance that I'm half-tempted to roll him off me and walk out. But I'm being driven purely by lust at the moment so I stay where I am.

"Ah, ah, ah," Klaus tsks with rueful eyes as he places one hand firmly on my hip effectively halting my eager movements. "Tell me what you want." He demands with a commanding tone that has my blood on fire. I narrow my eyes as I grab his chin in my hand and bring his face closer to mine. I brush my lips tauntingly against his enjoying the way his eyes close in anticipation of a kiss.

"Do I look like one of your lap dogs?" I whisper, sneering when his eyes pop open as I let go of his chin and fall back against the pillow. I hold his gaze defiantly trying to gauge his reaction when he surprises me by letting out a small chuckle.

It wants to be freed,

Of its cage.

The breath in my throat catches when Klaus's hand ghosts across my heat. I bite back my groan in despair, refusing to give Klaus the satisfaction of hearing how much he's affecting me.

"Just tell me," he nips at my lips hotly before placing chaste kisses down my jaw, "what. You. want." I close my eyes when Klaus's breath fans over my ear sending shivers down my spine. Along with a shot of ecstasy when his thumb begins to rub slow circles around my nub, "please." He adds huskily.

Just lose control,

For a single night.

I can't answer him when his hand is moving like this against me. A thousand years has done him justice as he knows exactly what to do to…

I hiss, opening my eyes, when his hand stops moving snapping me back to the present. Klaus is hovering inches above my lips while his ravenous eyes drink me in.

"Tell me." He says one more time with finality ringing in his voice. He's watching me intensely as his eyes searching mine for what I can only describe as reassurance.

"You," I finally whisper moving my hands to cup his face. "I want yo-ah!" I cry out when Klaus slides himself inside me making my back arch off the bed. My cries quickly turn into loud moans of pleasure that Klaus is eager to swallow when he kisses me. I kiss him back fervently feeling my eyes change color when Klaus runs his hand slowly down my side and to my leg. Excitement shoots through me when he roughly grabs the back of my knee and swings my leg over his waist.

Let it show you,

How to bite.

I gasp, breaking away from the kiss to throw my head back when Klaus drives deeper inside me. I squeeze my eyes shut when I feel the tiger start to surface and my claws extract. I quickly move my hands away from Klaus's back so not to draw blood.

"Alba…" I hear Klaus growl my name before his hand tugs roughly on my chin bringing my face back to his. "Open your eyes." He commands while giving a particularly hard thrust that has my eyes snapping open.

For it is strong,

And has no match.

"Don't ever hide from me." Klaus reprimands me lowly causing his own eyes to turn a deep yellow. I gaze at him hungrily feeling my beast slamming against my chest.

Even the hunter,

Will be an easy catch.

I stare into Klaus's eyes as he moves inside me, having set a desperately slow speed. I return my hands to his back and encourage him to go faster, but he just shakes his head.

"What's the matter, love? Can't handle the pace?" He teases, his eyes momentarily flickering back to their ocean blue. This makes me grin complacently as I rake my claws down Klaus's back causing the original to hiss in pain and shock. I take this opportunity to repeatedly slam my hips into his until a loud roar rips through the room.

So bend and break,

Submit your will.

I smile in victory when Klaus pins my arms above my head and growls down at me. His eyes are back to yellow and his teeth are now points. He looks terrifying yet strangely beautiful all at once.

"What's the matter, love?" I mock smiling smugly, "Can't handle the pace?" I ask, just as he thrusts into me over and over again while keeping me locked in place. I gasp and wither feeling my stomach begin to tighten.

"Klaus," I groan on the edge of no return. I try to pull my hands from his grip and he allows it. However, not a second later his fangs are sinking into my skin sending me hurtling over the edge.

Be the beast,

Earn your kill.

"Klaus!"

I fling myself upright when the sound of my cell phone jolts me awake. I rake my eyes around the room to find the spot beside me empty and cold. I'm still in Klaus's bed so only one guess as to who could be calling me at seven in the morning.

"Ah let me guess," I drawl when I finally open the phone and put it to my ear. "You had to go away on business." From the light chuckle I receive on the other end Klaus was expecting this much.

"Well the only way to get things done in this town is to do them myself." He muses and I can just see the smirk turning up his lips. "How did you sleep, love? Was it…luxurious?" I narrow my eyes at the amusement dancing in his voice.

"Like a baby," I reply quickly smirking to myself when I hear a slight huff on the other end. "I did have an interesting dream though."

"Oh do tell," Klaus goads with an eagerness to his voice that has me almost laughing.

"You were there, but the dream was so…disappointing that I don't have the heart to tell you." I grin satisfied when Klaus growls so low I almost don't hear it. "However, get into my head again and you won't have the chance to disappoint any girl ever again because you'll be missing something very important to you."

"What gave me away?" Klaus asks out of mild curiosity as I roll out of bed and pad across the hall to Rebekah's old room.

"You aren't that good," I tease picking through Rebekah's closet in search of something semi normal to wear. I'm starting to question how someone can live one thousand years and still have such awful taste in clothes.

"I beg to differ, love." Klaus murmurs huskily making me smile and shake my head.

"Well you do like to beg," I quip pulling out a particularly heinous pink top with ruffles around the collar. "Jesus, Rebekah really needs to buy better clothes." I mutter flinging the shirt over my head not caring where it lands.

"Rebekah would wear a brown paper sack if it had sparkles on it," Klaus retorts dryly just as a power saw turns on in the background.

"Where are you exactly?" I ask curiously pulling out a simple long sleeve grey shirt that's as soft as a baby's butt.

"Digging up one of Rebekah's many conquests," Klaus hums just as I pull out a pair of torn jeans from the very bottom of her dresser drawer.

"You really believe there is some magical sword that will lead us to a cure?" I ask skeptically, stripping down to change into the jeans and shirt. After my cry fest last night I fell asleep in Klaus's arms only to wake up a short while later to an empty bed and voices coming from downstairs. Of course, I listened and heard every word the trio was saying.

"It's not nice to eavesdrop, darling." Klaus tsks in amusement clearly forgiving me. "How much did you hear?"

"Bits and pieces," I sigh shuffling back to his room. "I'm going to see if I can get Rebekah to tell me some more about these hunters." I say finding my chucks and pulling them on. "I think I'll have better luck with her since…well since I'm not a dick." I smirk not sure what to think of the silence I receive in return. "Klaus?" I ask suspiciously my barriers rising when he doesn't answer right away.

"Well, funny you mention her, love bec-" A beep interrupts Klaus's words as I look down at my phone to find Kol's name flashing across my screen.

"Klaus I'll have to call you back." I abruptly end the call clicking over to my least favorite original at the moment. "Kol! Where the hell are you!?" I shout listening to the airy laugh I receive in response.

"Miss me, darling?" I roll my eyes at the cheeky lilt in Kol's voice.

"Loads," I deadpan refusing to tell him I really have missed him. "Now, where are you?"

"What have I missed since I've been gone? Anything scandalous?" He questions lazily like he has all the time in the world. I know he's purposely baiting me and I hate that it's working.

"Keep stalling and the only thing scandalous that's going to happen is me breaking my foot off in your a-"

"Now now, sweetheart, is that any way to speak to someone that's gone half-way around the world to find you answers?" Kol tsks sounding so much like his brother that it makes me momentarily forget which Michaelson I'm speaking with, but I recover quickly.

"Depends on my answers." I say exiting Klaus's room. I make a beeline for the stairs noticing for the first time the silence hanging over the mansion.

"Have I ever told you how sexy you are when you're agitated?" Kol tries and fails miserably to get me off topic as I stop at the top of the stairs.

"Have I ever told you how horrible you are at dodging my questions?" I fire back resting my hand against the banister as I listen for any hybrids. "Now I'm only going to ask one more time before I hang up this phone and hunt you down myself. Where. Are. You?" I ask enunciating each word so he understands play time is over. Not only did he leave me with a dead body to bury, but he left without telling me what the last Celtic symbol meant. To say I'm a little pissed at him would be a huge understatement.

"Well don't get your knickers in a twist," Kol grumbles like a child being scolded by his mother. "I'm leaving Ireland as we speak." I raise an eyebrow at this, silently wondering what could be in Ireland, but I don't ask him. The only thing Kol loves more than himself is being needed which is why I let the seconds linger on in silence. After a good minute of listening to the clock tick behind me, Kol lets out a frustrated huff. "What was I doing in Ireland? Oh thanks for asking, love." Kol bites causing an amused smile to turn up my lips. "I was tracking a group of witches that are very in touch with the other side. I figured if anyone would be able to tell us about your mysterious markings, it would be them." Now Kol has my attention as I perk up at his words.

"What did you find?" I enquire just as goose bumps erupt across the back of my neck where I can feel a pair of eyes on me. In a second, I'm turned around and glaring at the empty space behind me. A chill has crept into the air leaving my hairs standing on end as I search the area for one of Klaus's hybrids.

"Before or after I found them with their throats slit open?" Kol ponders aloud humming softly to himself. "Because I was pleasantly surprised to find out that self-sacrifice isn't out of style. It makes for a much more interesting trip."

"Before." I demand spinning on my heel when I find no one lurking in the shadows. It doesn't ease the feeling of someone watching me though as I propel myself down the stairs.

Can you hear it whisper?

Can you hear it cry?

Do you see the beast,

In your eyes?

I freeze half-way down the steps when I hear the voice from my dreams. It's definitely a woman, but not one I recognize.

Can you feel it's pull?

It's subtle rage?

It wants to be freed,

Of it's cage.

"They didn't give me much, but they did have a message for you." As soon as the words leave Kol's mouth my stomach twists painfully making me hunch over to find relief where there is none.

Just lose control,

For a single night.

Let it show you,

How to bite.

I bite my lip to keep from groaning in pain as I breathe heavily through my nose. Kol notices instantly that something is amiss.

"Alba? What's wrong?" I close my eyes clutching on to the banister so tightly that I'm surprised it hasn't snapped in my hands.

"Just tell me the message." I grit refusing to lose control again. I'll be damned if I let my bitch of an inner beast get the best of me.

"Alba-"

"KOL!" I roar shaking the windows with the force I put behind his name. Hell, it leaves me a little stunned as I listen to his sharp intake of breath.

"All they said is don't let her in." I groan partly from frustration and partly because my arm is bending at an ungodly angle.

For it is strong,

And has no match.

Even the hunter,

Will be an easy catch.

I feel my nostrils flare when I recall the words from my dream. It's enough to drive a girl mad and it almost does. That is until I see a flash of black out of my peripheral vision. I whip my head to the side, peering over the banister, just in time to witness a woman disappearing down the hall. In an instant, I'm standing in the study where the woman should be, but low and behold, no one is here.

The only sound filling the otherwise silent room is Kol's screaming, but I cut that off quickly when I hang up on him. I don't waste time tearing everything apart as I look over and under tables and behind books cases for the woman I know I saw come in here. An eerie feeling has settled deep in my gut pushing away any and all need for me to shift. In fact, I'm so caught up flipping over one of Klaus's arm chairs that I barely notice the tinkling laughter until it's directly behind me.

"Don't let her in, Alba." I growl and whirl around when someone whispers in my ear, but again I find no one standing behind me. Now I'm getting pissed.

"Alright, Houdini!" I call sauntering around the room casually, "I think it's about time you come out so we can have a nice long chat about privacy." I drawl stopping short when I hear taunting laughter come from the closed double doors that hold Connor prisoner. "Of course," I sigh heavily flashing across the room where I throw the doors open to reveal that not only are we missing a hunter, but the hybrid at my feet seems to have misplaced his head.

I nudge his body once before shaking my head and spinning on my heel. This is exactly the reason why you don't leave a puppy in charge. My best bet is the arrogant bastard was probably too busy toying with Connor to realize he was making an escape plan. Now look at him.

I start towards the front door only making it as far as the hallway before I remember my little friend. I run a hand through my black curls debating on whether I want to find and kill this person now or later. But considering I have an overzealous vampire hunter running around town I'm going to have to go with later. So on that note, I depart with one final farewell to my guest.

"If you decide to take anything, I suggest the room up the stairs and to the left. Third door on the right...don't be shy about raiding the closet." I smirk backing out of the house hoping to god whoever it is takes every piece of clothing Rebekah owns.

Stefan Salvatore is one busy boy. It's not even eight and already I can hear him writing away in that journal of his as I stroll through the front door. He doesn't hear me enter as he's too preoccupied with his feelings about his Katherine look alike to care. It's a shame really that Elena is going to rip his heart out and hand it to him on a silver platter, but hey, it's his own fault. He's the one that chooses not to see what's right in front of him.

I saunter into the parlor heading straight for the alcohol. If I'm going to help the Scooby-Gang today, I'm going to need a little something stronger than juice this morning. I'm pouring myself a glass of bourbon when I hear Stefan's phone going off and from the frustrated sigh he releases before answering, I know it must be Klaus.

"How the hell did Connor escape?" Stefan skips the pleasantries choosing to dive head first into today's shit storm. Huh, maybe I am wearing off on the young Salvatore.

"I'd blame my numbing incompetence, but pointing fingers isn't going to help me, you're going to help me." I roll my eyes at Klaus's arrogance as I take a gulp of my bourbon. When I called him on my way over here I made sure to let him know that it was, in fact, his numbing incompetence that led to Connor's escape. I wasn't about to sugar coat it for him.

"Well, he could be anywhere by now." No, I would bet Damon's left leg that he's in his trailer extracting werewolf venom from that numbskull's head as we speak. Could I flash over there right now and kill him? Probably. Would it be more entertaining if I let him continue with his suicide mission leaving me to enjoy Stefan and Klaus's heads exploding? Hell yes.

"Think, Stefan. He took the hybrid's head which means he wants werewolf toxin." I ignore Klaus's all-knowing tone when he says this considering I was the one that told him the exact same thing earlier.

"Which means he plans to stay in Mystic Falls and kill vampires." Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

"Which is a pity, as I'm half the world away digging up a dead hunter, you'll have no access to my blood and, therefore, the antidote."

"We have Alba." Stefan, ever the ballsy brother, states cutting Klaus off. I raise my eyebrow a little skeptically at this considering I never signed on to save anyone's life, let alone, the Brady bunches.

"Alba is not your blood bag whenever one of your mates needs saving. She. Is. Off. Limits." Klaus growls surprising me at how serious he has become. "If I find out Alba has given you or anyone else in that godforsaken town one drop of her blood, I will personally throw the hunter's sword in the Mediterranean and end this quest right now." I down the rest of my bourbon at those words before slamming the glass down and heading up the stairs. "Understood?"

"Understood." Stefan agrees clearing his throat. "What are we going to do about Damon?"

"We…" I sing pushing open the door just in time to see Stefan jump in surprise, "are going to keep Damon in check."

"Alba, how long have you been here?" Stefan questions eying me as I cross the room to his desk.

"Long enough for me to have a drink," I drawl plopping down in his chair before propping my feet up. "Btw Damon is out of bourbon." I grin leaning back as I place my hands behind my head. Stefan just stares at me like he's seeing double before shaking his head and getting back to business.

"Listen, it'd be a lot easier if I could just tell Damon the truth." Stefan remarks as I reach out to snatch his journal.

"Damon's been looking everywhere for Connor, if they cross paths…" I murmur distracted by the words I'm reading. Somewhere in the world, there's a cure for vampires. If I can get it, Elena can be human again. I can give her back her life.

"Damon will kill the hunter rendering him useless, do you see our dilemma, mate?" Klaus asks smugly just as Stefan rips his journal from my hands.

"I get it." He snaps hanging up the phone before Klaus can say anything else. He tosses it and his journal on the bed running a restless hand through his hair.

"Tough morning?" I mock earning me a sharp glare from the youngest Salvatore. "Thought so," I nod pushing to a stand. "He's right though. The less people that know about the cure the better."

"I know," Stefan sighs nodding his head. "What do we do about Connor?" I open my mouth to answer him when both our phones go off. I slip mine out of my pocket to find I have a text message from baby Gilbert. "Hunter at Mystic Grill with hostages. They all die at sundown." Stefan reads a loud glancing at me in mild alarm.

"That's funny," I chuckle holding up my phone that has a very different message. "Mine says if I want the hostages to live I need to stay away from the Grill until Sundown." I scoff in disbelief slipping my phone into my back pocket. "Talk about hurting a girl's feelings."

"We need to come up with a plan." Stefan murmurs already wearing a hole in the floor from his pacing. I watch him silently wondering how he's made it this far on his own.

"Really? Cause I thought we'd go out to dinner maybe bond over a little brunette behind the Wendy's." I say with a little more sarcasm than I intended, but nevertheless, I have the desired affect when Stefan stops to give me a look. "Good now that you've stopped pacing like a hyperactive teenager, we can get down to business. First things first I ne-son of a bitch!" I hiss lowly when something black blurs behind Stefan and under his bed.

"Alba?" Stefan questions more annoyed than confused when I brush past him and dive to the floor next to his bed. I fully expect to come face to face with the asshole I was after this morning, but I'm not surprised when all I find is a pile of books.

"What were you doing?" Stefan asks once I'm on my feet and dusting myself off.

"I thought I saw my earring," I shrug like it's no big deal when Stefan's eyebrows draw together in suspicion.

"You don't wear earrings."

"And you don't know when to stop asking questions." I smile humorlessly suddenly angry that I can't seem to catch whatever the hell is following me. "Now if you're done, we should get going. God knows Elena and Damon are going to have a field day when they find out Jeremy is the hostage and we need to keep everyone in line. So let's go." I start towards the door only to have Stefan grab my elbow when I try to move past him. I refrain from reaching out and snapping his neck considering he's my only alli at the moment. "Yes, Stefan?"

"Why are you trying to save Connor when not even twenty-four hours ago you were trying to kill him?" I narrow my eyes at Stefan's question clenching my jaw when I catch something blur under his desk. I stop myself from running after it, choosing to instead; yank my arm free of Stefan's death grip.

"Don't worry about what I'm doing and start worrying about what your girlfriend's doing." I smirk watching Stefan's frown deepen.

"What are you talking about?" I can hear the hostility creeping into his voice and see the truth hidden deep in his eyes that he's still refusing to admit. So I spare him for another day.

"I'm talking about the fact that I still haven't received a fruit basket for saving her life. You know it's customary nowadays to show a little gratitude and I sure do love apples." I watch the relief wash over Stefan as a small smile curls his lips.

"I'll get right on that." He nods shoving me gently toward the door. "We better go." I turn around and walk into the hallway mentally preparing myself for the rugrats.

"Why am I not surprised they would want to meet here?" I drawl leaning against the leather seats of Stefan's Fisher Price car as we come to a stop outside of the Lockwood estate. I turn to Stefan with a grimace when I hear the arguing going on inside. "Are you absolutely positive we can't snap their necks and call it a day?" I ask for the third time since begrudgingly accepting my fate as the baby-sitter.

Stefan sighs exhausted already as he looks to me. I can see that he wants to accept my offer especially when we hear Damon let out a string of ways he's going to remove Connor's head from his body, but Stefan, ever the good little vampire, just shakes his head.

"Let's just get this over with," Stefan huffs opening his door and climbing out. I reluctantly follow almost giving in to my desire to disappear into the woods and leave this mess to Stefan. But like Klaus so kindly pointed out to me earlier today, if I want something done I have to do it myself.

"So, we each take a different entrance; hit them at the same time." I hear Damon suggest seconds before Stefan and I walk into the room.

"Stefan!" Elena sighs in relief upon seeing him. She wastes no time flinging herself in his arms where they share a short hug. I can understand though, it must have been hell on Elena spending all day with Damon.

"Where the hell have you two been?" Damon barks regarding Elena and Stefan in distaste before he notices me watching him with an amused smile.

"Coming up with a plan." Stefan says taking charge of the situation. I hang back in the doorway choosing to stay out of this until he needs me. I'm merely the enforcer today. I lean against the door frame half listening to the conversation going on around me. I let my mind stray to the woman from this morning and the figure I saw in Stefan's bedroom. There's a good chance they are the same person and from the way my back is slowly heating up I would have to say I'm right.

"Damon's right. Connor's strong, but he's not going to be able to take all of us." I divert my attention back to the conversation at hand when I hear Elena back Damon up.

"I called in the hybrids to help too." Tyler pipes up making me roll my eyes.

"Well considering a hybrid let Connor escape in the first place I'm going to have to insist you keep the dogs chained up." I retort earning a withering glare from Tyler that I return with a beaming smile. I watch in anticipation as he opens his mouth to no doubt say something that will get his ass kicked, but Caroline chooses that moment to make her entrance.

"My mom put squad cars blocking the street. They're saying it's a faulty gas main. We're good to go." She nods with a smile before taking in the tense silence plaguing the room.

"Good, great. No cops, no witnesses, no reason to wait around." Damon snaps his fingers making a move for the door, but Stefan quickly stops him.

"Alright, hold on, you're not all going." Stefan holds up his hands looking at Caroline and Elena specifically.

"He shot me like nine times. If we're killing him, I want in." Tyler makes yet another comment that I can't resist shoving in his face.

"No one asked you to be the sacrificial lamb." I point out earning a low hiss in response.

"He's got Jeremy. I'm going." I bite back a loud groan at the doppelgangers insistence that she's somehow useful.

"Listen, nobody is going anywhere until I figure out what we're walking into." I smirk at Stefan's dominating personality. It's about damn time he took a stand.

"Until you figure it out? Is that where you've been all morning? Out buying bossy pants." Damon retorts, his face pinching up in anger. Obviously someone isn't too keen on little brother outsmarting him.

"This guy is known for setting traps, right? We'd be pretty dumb to walk into one, especially if he has werewolf venom." Stefan plays devil's advocate making everyone rethink their plan.

"Does he?" Elena asks making Stefan look to her calmly.

"Of course he does," I speak up gaining the room's attention as I cross my arms over my chest. "Which means Stefan and I are going to need some time to do recon. We want an hour with no interruptions, can you all put away your pitch forks long enough to give us that?" I ask dryly earning me a sharp glare from Elena.

"What makes you think you're part of the plan?" She asks with hostility making me chuckle darkly.

"Because Gilbert, I can put aside my feelings to get the job done unlike some people standing in this room." I finish looking at each and every one of them. Elena, Damon, and Tyler look absolutely furious while Caroline and Stefan have a hint of guilt turning down their features.

"Fine. You get one hour, but we're gonna need some extra help. Where's the Wicked Witch of the West?" Damon bites making Caroline to suck in a breath.

"She can't do magic."

"Really? Well, call her; tell her Jeremy's life is in danger; maybe that will bring her out of retirement." Damon says walking toward the exit making sure to bump Stefan with his shoulder on the way out.

"I don't know why he doesn't have more friends." I muse watching him leave the house.

"Stefan, can I talk to you alone, please?" Elena growls grabbing the vampires arm before he can protest. I raise a curious eyebrow as she drags him out of the room and down the hall leaving me alone with Tyler and Caroline. An awkward silence falls over the room that I'm quick to escape.

"I would love to stay and chat, but…I don't want to." I smirk disappearing down the hall and out the door. I take a deep breath of the fresh air and debate giving Klaus a call. However, just as I take my phone out a twig snaps to my left drawing my attention to the end of the porch. I narrow my eyes when I catch a figure vanishing around the side of the house. In a second, I'm standing where I saw the person disappear only to discover a woman. Her back is to me revealing her long shadowy brown hair that falls in wild curls around her waist. A black cloak hangs off her shoulders and sweeps the ground at her feet. I can't see her face, but there's just something about her that sends a pang of familiarity through me. I can't quite put my finger on what, but I know for damn sure I'm not approaching her until I figure it out. "Normally, I would introduce myself…" I call to her back seeing if she'll turn around, "But since you've been stalking me all morning, I'm just gonna cut to the chase. Who the hell are you and what do you want?" I growl leaving my lets be bff's voice at home. I'm in no mood to deal with some supernatural bimbo today.

I stare a hole into the back of the woman's head willing her to turn around so I can see her face, but she refuses to budge from her position. I notice the wind has picked up sending the trees and my hair swaying violently around me. A chill has crept into the air, similar to the one I felt this morning, as black clouds roll in from the west. I gaze up into the ever darkening sky realizing for the first time who this woman is; I'm surprised I didn't catch on sooner with her disappearing act.

"Ah," I hum amused as I turn my attention back to her. "So you're a witch." I muse thoughtfully stiffening when I see that not only has the woman managed to close the gap between us, but now her head is turned allowing me to see half of a smirk turning up her lips. A smirk that I haven't seen since….

"Alba!" I jump when Stefan's voice pierces through the shock washing over me. I open my mouth to tell him to give me a minute, but the only thing that escapes is a sharp hiss when the woman blurs from my view. One minute she's standing there and the next minute she's gone leaving me to whip my head around like an insane person trying to find her. That is until a blinding pain slices through my back. I can't even catch my breath at the excruciating sting eating every inch of my skin as I fall to my knees. "Alba!" Stefan yells with more urgency.

"Let it go, little witch." I growl like an animal when I hear the condescendingly soft voice of a woman directly in my ear. "It's time to lose yourself." She whispers seconds before I throw my head back and release a bone-chilling roar that shatters any and all qualms I possessed about having any control over the monster inside of me. As it turns out, the tiger inside of me is strong and it just might win.

"You expect me to care about bloody hostages!?" I roll my eyes at the put off tone in Klaus's voice. The man can be such a drama queen sometimes.

"Tell the puppy to put away its claws!" I call down to Stefan who is pacing the length of town square with Klaus pouting in his ear. I, however, am standing on the roof of the building across from the Grill debating on the flashiest entrance. Of course, falling from the ceiling like batman would be my number one priority.

"I heard that," Klaus growls making Stefan sigh with agitation.

"You should care about the hostages. Alba does." That's not totally true, but I'm not going to correct Stefan when he's on a roll. "So does Damon, Elena, Caroline, and Tyler. If any of them get to Connor, then you just wasted a trip to Italy. I can buy us some time, but Damon's getting antsy. So, if you want Connor alive, you better get your hybrids on board with my plan." Stefan finishes, hanging up like the bad ass vampire he is. I knew I'd rub off on him eventually.

I watch Stefan as he takes a deep breath before punching in another number on his phone. I tune out this conversation seeing as it's probably just Elena. She and Damon have been huddled in Alaric's loft since they left the Lockwood mansion about an hour ago.

I glare at nothing in particular when I think about earlier and that pesky witch that's been following me. After I nearly lost control…again…the woman vanished leaving me to collect myself before Stefan found me. Now I not only have to deal with Connor, his incredibly inept hostages, Damon, Elena, Stefan, and everybody else in this fucking town, but I have to keep an eye out for my own personal stalker. Awesome.

The phone buzzing in my pocket draws my attention away from the Grill as I answer without looking at the caller ID.

"Calling me when you should be calling your hybrid," I tsk, shaking my head when Klaus lets out the tiniest of chuckles. "St. Stefan isn't going to be pleased." I note watching the man in question stalk around the square.

"He's also not going to be pleased when he finds out that you're not joining him in rescuing the hostages." Klaus remarks making me raise a disbelieving eyebrow.

"I'm not?" I ask feigning shock for Klaus's benefit. Of course, I knew he would call me and demand I not do anything to jeopardize Connor's life. I mean I can't really blame him; after all, I did try to make Connor my kibbles and bits.

"I'm serious, Alba." Klaus voice drops with sincerity as he continues, "I don't want you getting hurt."

"You don't want me getting hurt or you don't want me to kill Connor?" I question standing up to stretch my sore muscles.

"Both," he sighs, "It would be different if I was there with you, but I'm too far away to reach you if something goes wrong."

"Nothing will go wrong." I lie feeling my lips quirk into a grin when Klaus scoffs in disbelief.

"You're surrounded by morons, Alba. It will be an absolute miracle if anything goes according to plan."

"You make a good point," I nod catching the wave Stefan sends me. He points to Alaric's loft before heading that way. "Fine, I'll stay out of it." I shrug beginning a slow jog across the roof of the building.

"Alba…" Klaus warns in a threatening tone that promises repercussions if I disobey him.

"Klaus…" I sing, not sounding the least bit winded as I pick up my pace the closer I get to the edge of the roof.

"You're not going to stay out of it, are you?" He asks making me smirk.

"Of course not." I rasp, snapping my phone shut as I vault off the edge of the roof and fly through the air before I tumble gracefully onto the next building. I do this several more times before I reach Alaric's apartment building. Luckily for me, his room is on the top floor where I jump skillfully through his open window.

"Got it. It was in his weapons drawer with seven stakes, some weird MacGyver crossbow, and the last remaining vervain in Mystic Falls, so how about we get this party started." No one notices my arrival as they crowd around blueprints of the tunnels, but it's clear to see that Damon wants to get the show on the road.

"Not yet. Klaus is sending one of his men. He'll take the front; you and I can take the tunnels." Stefan shuts him down, conveniently forgetting my part of the plan. Such a devious boy.

"Since when did we team up with Klaus and the Lollipop Guild?" Damon snaps, a little more than pissed at being left out of the loop. I can see the storm brewing in his snarky little eyes and I can't help the smile that splits my face at the show to come.

"Well, I already told you, Connor has werewolf venom. We need someone to draw his fire; the hybrids are immune to it so they're our best bets." Stefan reasons, finally noticing me over Damon and Elena's shoulders as he sends me a subtle nod. I reciprocate it as I move farther into the room without a sound.

"Well, how are you sure that he even has werewolf venom?" Damon asks completely losing his cool as he throws his hands up. "Why is Klaus involved, Stefan?"

"Stop being paranoid, Damon." Stefan responds coolly turning around to casually pick up a vervain dart.

"Start telling the truth, Stefan. Why is Klaus involved? Did he compel you?" Damon continues on with his rant seeing Stefan in a new light when he mentions the compulsion. I shake my head at the clueless idiot standing in front of me.

"I am telling you the truth. This is the best way to get everyone out." Stefan glares lifting his chin to stare Damon in the eyes as the pair have a brotherly spat. It's adorable. Really.

"Okay, what is with you two? We're wasting time." Elena buts in looking between the brothers with agitation clear on her face. Guess the princess doesn't like waiting.

"You know what, she's right. Screw your plan. I'll kill Connor myself." Damon snarls, giving Stefan one last withering glare before him and Elena move for the door. However, Stefan chooses that moment to flash over to Damon and vervain him in the neck.

"Stefan!" Elena shouts just as I come up behind her and give her neck a swift twist. She falls unceremoniously to the floor at my feet landing mere inches from Damon's face. Jesus, even unconscious the two can't stay away from each other.

"Did you really have to snap her neck?" Stefan huffs, looking down at his girlfriends body with sympathy and guilt.

"I could have ripped her heart out if you would have preferred it that way." I shrug casually stepping over her dead body.

"Forget it," Stefan mumbles moving back to the map. "Damon had the right idea with the tunnels."

"Score one for Damon." I mock looking around Alaric's place in mild fascination. It's a shame he's dead.

"We better go, they'll be waking up soon and Klaus's hybrid is on his way." Stefan says folding the map up before carrying it to the door. I don't follow him as I turn around and head for the window I came in through. "Hey, where do you think you're going?" Stefan asks making me sigh and give him a duh look over my shoulder.

"You got the tunnels and I got the roof," I smirk, "make me proud." I wink, disappearing out the window. I haul myself onto the roof with no problem only to get to the top and find that I'm not alone. "Well, well, well…" I narrow my eyes, cocking my head to get a better look at the woman standing no more then twenty feet away from me. "I don't mean to be presumptuous, but I'm starting to think you're following me." I simper, crossing my arms remaining where I'm standing.

"You're going to kill him. It's only a matter of time." I clench my jaw and keep my eyes fixed on the figure in front of me. She sounds like she's right behind me, but I know better than to let her out of my sight.

"Connor?" I chuckle darkly, "I would only be so lucky."

"Not the man I'm talking about…but you already know that, don't you?" The woman laughs, patronizing me with every word from her mouth. It's unnerving.

"Klaus." I growl, my instinct to protect him taking over. I don't understand why I'm still talking to this woman or why she's not dead at my feet. It's like I'm functioning on autopilot with no way to stop myself.

"That's right, little witch. There is no room for love in a soul as tarnished as yours."

"Aw, now you're just hurting my feelings." I pout cracking my neck and back in anticipation of throwing this bitch off the roof.

"Mock me all you want, but you know it's true. It's why your sister is dead and you are not."

"I'd watch what I say real carefully now." I threaten with a hard edge creeping into my voice that leaves no room for doubt.

"You kill everyone you come in contact with…Mason, Alaric, Elena, Ester, and Finn…"

"Shut up." I growl taking a dangerous step forward when she continues.

"Your mother, Danny…"

"I said shut up!" I shout rushing forward to tackle the woman, but I only manage to grasp thin air.

"How much longer before its Damon or Stefan or Rebekah? Hmm? What about Kol, Elijah, Klaus, Caroline, or little Bonnie Bennet?"

"Don't for one second think I'm not going to rip your beating heart from your body…or better yet I think I'm going to turn you." I hiss knowing full well that being a vampire is worse than death to witches.

"Threaten me all you want, little witch. It doesn't change the fact that you're no guardian. You're the angel of death."

"Fuck you!" I yell, spinning in circles as I search wildly for the woman. If she wants to fight so help me I will give her a war.

"You better go, clock is ticking." It's as these words are leaving her mouth that a bomb goes off in the Grill. I watch as the Grill's windows are blown out raining glass into the streets like glitter.

"Son of a bitch." I huff taking off for the restaurant as I jump the narrow gap between the buildings. I stick the landing, forgetting all about my witch problems, when I find a soft spot on the roof. "Here goes nothing," I mutter, raising my fist in the air, feeling the wind roll between my finger tips before I hulk smash myself through the cement. Surprisingly, there aren't as many layers as I anticipated. Unsurprisingly, I manage to cave in half the roof as I'm thrown off my feet and tumble head first down the hole.

Luckily for me, a table breaks my fall as I hit the hard wood and topple both of us to the floor. Unluckily, I smack my head against the floor hearing instant ringing in my ears.

"You have got to be kidding me." I hear Connor before I see him as I crawl to my feet already healing. He's standing on the other side of the grill with his gun pointed at the bar where Stefan is hiding while hovering close to Jeremy who is standing on a ticking bomb.

"You know, I was a little hurt I wasn't invited to the party," I say gesturing to Jeremy, "so I decided to crash. No pun intended." I smile cockily leaning my elbows against the partition that separates the room into sections.

"I told you that you should have stayed away." Connor responds lowly sending me a brief glance out of the corner of his eye.

"It's because I tried to kill you, isn't it?" I ask just as Stefan yells over the top of me.

"Connor, we can end this right now! Just put down the gun and come with me!"

"Sure." Connor drawls sarcastically, "Come out, and I'll hand the gun over."

"Think about this. No one has to die. I'll tell you everything you need to know." Stefan reasons tirelessly. I know he can't see Connor's face, but I can and I know there's no arguing with him.

"I don't make deals with vampires!" Connor shouts, losing his calm exterior for a moment.

"But you'll make a deal with me, won't you?" I narrow my eyes catching the brief hesitation that flashes across Connor's face. "Tell you what," I sigh, jumping over the partition, "if you let Jeremy go. I'll kill Stefan and tell you everything you want to know." I smile listening to Stefan's breath catch in his throat.

"What are you doing?" He whispers so only I can hear.

"Being a better negotiator than you." I say under my breath when Connor looks away from me in contemplation.

"You'll just try to kill me again." Connor glares turning his gun on me. "How do I know I can trust you?" I don't bat an eyelash at the gun pointed at my face as I shrug and meander closer to him.

"You don't, that's why they call it a leap of faith." I answer seriously nodding my head to Jeremy. "So let baby Gilbert go." I wait patiently at the inner battle Connor is having with himself about the right thing to do here. He knows he can't trust me that much is obvious, but if he thinks I can help him extend his tattoo I think he'll go with me. Which is why when he finally starts to lower his gun with acceptance clear in his brown eyes, it only makes sense that Elena fucking Gilbert would swoop in to mess everything up.

"Please!" She squeaks from the doorway where she's passing through the threshold. Instantly, Connors defenses rise as he spins around and aims the gun right at Elena. If we're lucky, he'll shoot her straight in the heart. "Don't hurt him!" Elena pleads looking at her brother brokenly.

"You come any closer, he's dead." Connor bites, swinging his gun around until it's pointed at Jeremy.

"Elena! Get out of here!" Jeremy yells looking between the gun and his sister in panic.

"He's the only family I have left. Just-Just let him go." She whines making me groan so loud that everybody freezes like they know what's going to happen next.

"Enough with the sob story, Gilbert! Tell you what; I'll save Jeremy just to hear you shut up." I give her a smug smirk before I flash across the room and all hell breaks loose. Do I really go to save Jeremy? Of course not. I need Elena distracted and unfortunately that means someone has to take a bullet. I guess that's Jeremy because right on cue, Connor lifts his gun and shoots Jeremy in the gut before being tackled by Elena. I watch Elena and Connor wrestle for minute before I remember that Jeremy's on the ground bleeding out right next to the bomb.

"Jeremy!" I hear Stefan shout as he and I lunge for Jeremy at the same time. Stefan gets to him first as he grabs Jeremy leaving me to grab them both as I launch us over a nearby table. Apparently, not a moment too soon either as the bomb goes off destroying everything in its vicinity. I cover my face as bits of plaster and wood rain down on us from above.

"Jeremy?!" Elena screams, unwisely dropping her guard to look over at us. Connor takes her moment of vulnerability to buck her off his sprawled form before he jumps on top of her to go in for the kill. I watch in mild entertainment as Elena futily wraps her hands around Connor's wrists trying desperately to stop the stake from plunging into her heart. However, before Connor can finish the job Stefan swoops in and throws him to the side like a rag doll where I magically appear and grab him.

"Bet you're happy to see me." I smirk fisting his shirt in my hands before flashing us out of the Grill and into the tunnels.

3rd POV

"You didn't even try to help." Stefan scolds Alba for the third time since he joined her and Connor in the tunnels. He's not stupid, he saw her watching Elena fight Connor refusing to lift a finger to help her.

"I saved you and baby Gilbert." She points out with amusement dancing across her face making Stefan's mood sour further.

"I thought you were going to help me, Alba. Elena almost died." Stefan huffs twisting Connor's arm a little harder behind his back making the hunter wince.

"I'm not even going to justify that with a response." Alba shakes her head giving Stefan a disappointed look that has the youngest Salvatore feeling almost ashamed. However, his thoughts are soon turned to the tunnels in front of him when Damon appears from the darkness.

"Good work, brother." Damon drawls with a victorious smile gracing his lips. He's eyeing Connor like he can't wait to rip him apart.

"It's over, Damon. I have him." Stefan responds slowly eyeing his brother warily.

"Not after what I just went through. I had to punch through a boiler room basement into a septic tank to get into this stupid tunnel. But it'll be worth it." Damon's eyes darken with all the ways he's going to torture Connor until he's a crippled mess on the floor.

"Explains the stench," Alba pipes up, crinkling her nose in disgust. Damon just glares at her feeling a slight twinge of hurt that she would go behind his back. But his hurt is quickly turned into anger when Connor lets out a chuckle at his expense.

"I'm taking him with me." Stefan states boldly drawing his attention away from the hunter.

"That's the thing, you're not. I don't know what you're up to or what Klaus has over you, but even if I have to go through you, I'm gonna kill him." Damon growls advancing on the hunter until Stefan steps in front of Connor blocking him from view.

"You better back off, Damon." Stefan crosses his arms, staring his brother down with not an ounce of fear.

"Why? Because Klaus wants him alive?" Damon snaps, searching Stefan's face for what he's been hiding all day.

"This has nothing to do with Klaus. You're just going to have to trust me on that."

"I don't want to. I don't have to. Not gonna. Now, give him to me, brother." Damon snarls taking a step closer to Stefan, his determined gaze focused on Connor.

"Alba." Stefan warns, refusing to look away from his brother.

"Got it, boss." Alba mocks from behind him as she throws Damon a taunting smile. "Later, Damon." And just like that they're gone.

"Where are you taking me?" Connor questions calmly, his eyes darting rapidly from side to side as Alba shoves him deeper into the tunnels.

"It's a surprise." Alba responds dryly nudging him a little harder to get a move on. She's lost her playful banter as she fights with the darker part of herself not to rip into Connor.

"I never wanted you to be apart of this, Alba. I like you…" Connor pauses thinking about it, "even though you tried to kill me." He chuckles to himself at the absurdity of his words wondering why in the hell he can't seem to shake the woman that has done nothing, but cause him grief. He waits for her to say something, but after several minutes of heavy silence he gives up on a response. He actually finds himself wondering what she is thinking until they come to a fork in the tunnels where she pulls him to an abrupt halt. "What's wrong?" Connor asks when Alba's body goes ridged causing the hairs on the back of his neck to stand up.

"Didn't your mother ever teach you it's not nice to eavesdrop, Elena?" Alba calls into the darkness with a rueful smile that only widens when Elena steps out of the tunnel to their left. The doppelganger is rolling with anger and it's written all over her face when her eyes go black and her fangs descend.

"Give him to me." Elena hisses, her body quivering with rage at the sight of the hunter and Alba. She had every intention of putting the fear of god into Connor, but she should have known Alba would stand in her way. The bitch doesn't even look concerned as a lazy smirk graces her lips making Elena see red.

"I have a better idea," Alba declares, "come and get him." She snarls, her smirk widening to display her row of razor sharp teeth and the neon blue of her eyes.

"Wait a minute!" Connor yells when Elena hisses and rushes for him, but his words are drowned out by a ferocious growl that shakes him to his very core. He's sure he's a goner when Elena is in touching distance, but before she can nab him, he's sailing through the air in the opposite direction.

Alba doesn't have time to witness Connor smashing into the wall, creating a massive crater, before tumbling to the ground with a thud. She's too busy colliding with the woman-child in front of her. Alba easily ducks the fist Elena aims at her face making sure to come back with a move of her own as she upper cuts the doppelganger sending her stumbling backwards. However, that doesn't deter the young girl long as she lunges forward, only succeeding in being captured in a head lock.

"I thought you came here for a fight," Alba growls lowly, her voice taking on an animalistic tone that goes unnoticed by the squirming infant in her arms.

"Fuc-" before Elena can finish her sentence, Alba flexes her arm constricting Elena's airway until she chokes on her words.

"I'm sorry I don't think I heard you." Alba rumbles darkly, the color in the room fading into black and white.

"It's time. You must do it now, little witch."

Elena struggles wildly against Alba's hold, her eyes locking on an unconscious Connor across the tunnel. She bites back a wail in pain when a bone snaps in her neck as she tries urgently to unwind Alba's arm. This isn't just about killing Connor anymore, the blind fury filling Elena is about to spill over. It doesn't matter if Alba is Damon's daughter or not. Elena will destroy her.

It's as this thought is flitting through Elena's mind that the arm encircling her neck loosens. Not wasting a second, Elena grasps Alba's wrist, snapping it before she twists out of her hold and reverses their positions. She slams Alba against the wall with her hand closing tightly around her slim throat.

"You know, it would be so easy for me to break your neck right now." Elena gloats smugly; gazing over Alba's bent head, her hair falling in her face. "But I know that you would heal and come right back to make my life a living hell." She hisses shaking Alba roughly earning nothing from the girl. "It was a great couple months with you gone…" Elena taunts, cocking her head to the side to gauge Alba's reaction, "everybody was getting along. Klaus was out of our hair and Damon-"

"Damon was still searching for me." Alba pants, lifting her head to reveal a twisted smile on an animal's face.

"Oh my god," Elena gasps despite herself, her hand instinctively tightening around Alba's throat making her cat eyes glare in amusement.

"What's wrong, Elena?" Alba jeers her voice no longer a voice, but a deep hiss that makes Elena tremble. "Cat got your tongue?" Before Elena has the chance to scream, Alba rips Elena's hand from her neck and kicks her across the tunnel. Elena's head makes a sickening crack against the dirt that would have killed her if she weren't already dead.

"Ugh," she groans, feeling the ache in her body as she lifts her head to find that Alba has disappeared. However another groan has her attention turning to her left where Connor is slowly climbing to his feet. He has blood dripping from a cut above his eye and Elena inhales the heady scent with hunger.

Connor isn't even on his feet before Elena is plunging her fangs into his neck ripping and tearing until he cries out. She wants to cause him the up most amount of pain and she succeeds when she catches him wince.

"Stay the hell away from my brother!" She warns, releasing her grip on him so he drops to his knees at her feet.

"Look at you. So worried about your brother." Connor breathes out a laugh, "You're the biggest monster he'll ever meet." He growls seconds before stabbing a stake through Elena's chest. She draws back in surprise before cold hard fury replaces her shock.

"You missed." She scoffs, snatching Connor by the head readying herself to snap his neck; however, before she can complete the deed she's tossed to the side like a rag doll. Her body collides with the wall once more except this time it feels like she was hit by a train. She can't dismiss the agony coursing through her veins this time as she can't climb to her feet.

"Alba? Alba, if you're still in there, you don't want to do this." Connor's pleads bring Elena's attention to the situation at hand as she raises her eyes to find the elusive white tiger that she hasn't seen since Ester. The breath catches in her throat at the expression of pure fear on Connor's face and the massive size of Alba's form. She would be mesmerized if not at that exact moment the tiger didn't lunge for Connor.

"NO!" Elena screams, holding her hand out uselessly, as the tiger latches onto Connor's neck. The sickening crunch of bone and the wet gurgles escaping from Connor's throat fill the tunnels making Elena want to vomit. "Oh my god," Elena murmurs, lowering her head to wipe the dirt and sweat from her face. She waits until she hears the gagging stop before she lifts her gaze to find that Connor is dead and the tiger is gone.

It's a grotesque scene that brings her back to her senses as she slowly climbs to her feet. She feels tears well in her eyes at Connor's mangled body until two hands wrap around her head and everything fades to black.

Damon POV

"This is going to destroy her, you know that, right?" Stefan asks for the third time since he and I have emerged from the tunnels. When Elena called him, hysterical about killing Connor, I expected him to act a little less shocked.

"We knew this was going to happen, Stefan." I reply, giving him an I told you so look out of the corner of my eye. "Maybe if you spent less time teaching her how to eat Bambi and more time teaching her how to handle human blood, we wouldn't be in this situation right now."

"Oh so this is my fault?" Stefan scoffs, pointing to his chest incredulously.

"Well I'm not the guy that was trying to make her into something she's not and I'm sure as hell not the guy that lied to her and teamed up with the aunt killing original to take down a man that almost murdered her brother." I reason, holding up my hands innocently when Stefan turns to give me a glare.

"I was doing it to help her, Damon." Stefan retorts sternly just as we break through the clearing into a small meadow.

"Oh yeah? How's that working out for you?" I ask, my eyes narrowing in concern when I spot Elena knee deep in a hole with Connor's dead body by her side.

"Elena." Stefan calls as we come to a stop in front of her. She's digging furiously with tears falling down her cheeks. She looks absolutely distraught and it makes my heart clench.

"I need to bury him." Elena explains, looking over at Connor's lifeless body. "I killed him, I should-I should bury him." She whimpers pitifully scooping another hunk of dirt before throwing it over her shoulder. Stefan and I share matching expressions of worry before he closes the gap between him and her.

"Hey, hey. Come on." Stefan coos, gently grabbing Elena by the shoulders before she promptly pushes him away.

"Don't!" She yells, surprising me with the desperation in her voice. "I heard you talking to him. Making some secret deal with Klaus? You said you were going to protect Jeremy! Keep me from this. You said that I could trust you, Stefan." Elena cries harder making Stefan look down in shame.

"Elena, it's complicated." I move forward to comfort her, but she's not having any of that.

"No, it's not complicated, Damon! You want to know why? Because - because he's dead now. You told me to kill him, so I did." She sobs leaning against the shovel to support her weight. I feel instant sorrow looking at the girl I'm in love with crumble before my eyes. "I-I killed someone." She heaves. "I-I killed someone."

Alba POV

"Aalba….Aaalba." I groan, slowly opening my eyes when the ghost of a whisper caresses my ear. The first thing I see is the moon hanging high in the sky shrouding the trees and leaves around me in a transcendent white. The second thing I see is the smooth Carmel skin of my arms…and shoulders…and chest…and everything else. "Welcome back to being human, little witch."

"I'm never getting rid of you, am I?" I ask, cringing slightly at my sore muscles as I move to a stand. It's incredibly dark and even with my night vision I can't seem to find the woman following me.

"Not a chance."

"Well in that case, I think it's time you show yourself." I yell into the night, spinning in circles trying to pinpoint where she is. "I mean you have been watching me sleep naked so I think you owe me."

"Actually," the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end at the soft yet confident voice coming from directly behind me. Without wasting a second, I whirl around only to go slack jaw at the woman standing in front of me. "I think you owe me." She smirks, her brown eyes narrowing dangerously contrasting greatly against her inviting smile. This cannot be happening.

"Laurita."

Thanks for reading! I hope it wasn't complete crap!
