The Duncney Fanclub

But they're just friends, right? In fact, rumor has it, they hate each other!

It was that rare day on Muskoka where the sun was shinning and actually giving off a hint of warmth. Courtney was still wearing her scarf draped around her neck, but she's shrugged off her jacket and tied it around her waist. Duncan's arm was slung around her shoulder as they traipsed through the park, a photo opportunity Heather had agreed with some magazine.

They were lazing by the pond, Courtney stopping to feed the ducks as Duncan watched his girlfriend thoughtfully. The pair hadn't exchanged much in the terms of conversation, only a quick hello and Duncan's polite 'after you' as they left their apartment building together.

Courtney wasn't angry with him, she knew it was none of her business what he got up to in his spare time. But thsi week had been hell in school, everyone whispering behind her back. It made her feel foolish, made her feel three feet tall. As far as everyone else in the world knew, they were a couple and Duncan was sleeping with other girls. More notebaly Gwen. Courtney had never met Gwen in person, but every person who knew anything about the entertainment industry knew who she was.

In the first Reach movie, Duncan's big break-out movie, she had been one of his co-stars. They'd killed her off at the end and she hadn't been in the following two. But all the while they had been shooting the first movie, the news that Duncan and Gwen were in a relationship spread like crazy. They had never once acknowledged the rumors, but had been prety inseparable.

Neither Courtney or Duncan talked a lot about themselves with the other. When they did talk it was usually arguments. They argued over everything they could think of. But it had been five days now and the two had done nothing but dance around each other. Courtney didn't know what she was expecting, an apology was unlikley as Duncan seemed as cluseless as ever about what he had done. Courtney knew he didn't have anything to apologize for, in the long run. It's not his fault people spread rumours so fast. It was obvious that he was immune to people talking about him. Courtney was no where near as used to it.

"Do you want to go get a drink?" Duncan asked quietly, not loud enough for the photographers to hear.

Courtney dropped her last piece of bread into the water, watching the ducks swim eagerly for it, before nodding her head. For as long as they were dancing around each other, they were civil.

The couple walked over to the snack hut not too far away, Duncan's arm slung around Courtney's shoulders as she held him tightly by the waist. It was the perfect photo op. Heather had told them not to smile too much, try to act casual as these were supposed to be more candid photos, as if they'd been caught by the paparazzi instead of this being a paid thing. But they were supposed to act as if they were enjoying each thers company as well, which did come as an acting challenge to both.

They stood waiting for their drinks that Duncan ordered. He was starting to toy with Courtney's scarf and she tried to act like it was no big deal, as if it was something he had a habit of doing. Maybe it was a cute thing that boyfriends did in the winter. It did start to concern her when he knotted the ends round his fists, pulling her a step closer to him. Her stomach tightened at the lack of a gap between them, Courtney was staring straight up to his face above hers, trying not to act shocked.

"What are you doing?" Courtney asked through gritted teeth and a shy smile.

"Something cute," Duncan replied with a shrug and a bolder smile than hers. Courtney raised her eyebrow at him, wanting to ask for more infromation, but he already had his lips on hers. Courtney was not that into the moment that she reacted without shock, but, remembering the cameras, she threw her arms around Duncan's neck.

The couple had never discussed public displays of affection before. All they knew they had to do was hold hands and cuddle up. This was effectively their first kiss, though Courtney was sure the public thought they had done a lot more by now.

Courtney's mind was too busy over thinking it all to realize Duncan had pulled away first as their drinks arrived in front of them. He released her scarf, collecting his drink with one hand and grabbing for her hand with his other. Courtney watched him breathlessly as he sent a wink her way.

"What the fuck was that?!" Courtney demanded as soon as they were back in the safety of the car again. The blacked out windows gave the perfect shield from real paparazzi hanging around, meaning Courtney wasted no time punching Duncan in the shoulder.

Heather sighed, raising hr eyes to the rearview mirror to watch the couple in the back seat. She had trusted them enough to go about their own photoshoot while she dealt with some business issues in the car.

"What did he do now?" Heather asked, her eyes fluttering betwen the two teenagers.

Courtney was still glaring at Duncan as she answered, "He kissed me."

"That's not too bad..." The publicist commented.

"Without warning!" Courtney quickly added. "I was caught off guard and it probably shows in the photographs that I was no expecting a kiss!" Courtney's biggest concern was that the public were going to figure out that this was all a ploy. She didn't know what would happen to her side of the bargain if that did happen, and she did fear asking Heather.

Courtney found that Heather was on her side for most things that went on between herself and Duncan. Heather was a good person to lean on for support when it came to decisions in the relationship. However, Heather was scary. Courtney's wasn't intimidated by Heather, but she respected her after she saw the way she could whip Duncan into shape with a couple of words.

"Duncan, we did talk about this," Heather reminded him. Duncan gave her an eye roll.

"Yeah, yeah," he mumbled. "No PDA without the Princess consent. I'll remember next time." Duncan snorted, everyone knowing that he would not remember next time. Courtney knew she was going to have to start getting into character as the ideal girfriend whenever she was around Duncan on the ff chance he did throw something like this her way again.

To Courtney, Duncan didn't see to care too much about their relationship. He acted as if he was getting the short end of the stick, though Courtney found that laughable consider she was the one lumped with him. Either way, Duncan didn't give much thought to his reputation. It was obvious that he enjoyed his bad boy antics and being the talk of Hollywood for all the wrong reasons. Courtney couldn't wrap her mind around the way he was. Duncan had everything going for him at the end of Reach, yet he chose to flush it all away without a second thought.

Courtney got home early that day, not feeling up to spending too much time with Duncan after they got back to their apartment building. He seemed shocked as she bid him goodnight, heading towards her own door instead of his, but didn't dwell on it for long. Courtney watched him until he had disappeared into his apartment and then continued to stare at the door for much longer afterwards. She tried to kid herself, saying that she was just not used to going back to her own place instead of his, but she knew what was realy on her mind; the kiss. His lips on hers, her lips pressed against his. Courtney had kissed several boys before, but nothing had felt quite like that before. There was something dangerous about kissing Duncan. She knew she shouldn't, he was completely reckless and her parents did not approve of him- Hell, Courtney herself didn't approve of him! But the other part of her mind, the side that was winning over, told Courtney that they were already 'dating', what harm could a kiss do?

As she fell into her apartment, Courtney caught the attention of her parents. Just as she had been ignoring Duncan all week, they had been ignoring her since they had learnt of the relationship. It was no doubt in Courtney's mind that they had both started keeping up with the gossip magazines, and if not, Annabelle was surely keeping them up to date on all the scandalous things.

Courtney gave them each a small smile as she passed through the kitchen to get to her bedroom on the other side of the apartment. It was only early evening, not late enough to sleep. Courtney considered calling Bridgette, talking to her about what had happened today, but in the end Courtney didn't pick up her phone. She laid down on her bed, staring at the blank ceiling, reiving the kiss over and over again in her head.
