Hope y'alls had a good Christmas/New Year. I whipped up this little gem for you a few days after Christmas, and figured now was as good a time as any to post it. Hope you enjoy!

That night I couldn't sleep. Dinner as always had been a merry affair filled with talk and drink, but all I could focus on was Chrom's face, still filled with sadness because of my rejection.

'Bwah, he just needs to get over it...'

I was tossing and turning in my bed for hours before I decided that sleep would be impossible that night and dressed myself in well fitting clothes and a long cloak.

'I might as well be productive if I'm not going to sleep.'

I walked around the castle, admiring it and questioning its aesthetic design. Eventually my wandering took me to the courtyard before the entrance. The gate was still open despite the late hour and I decided to walk around outside the castle. I knew walking around late at night could be dangerous, but I had my tome with me and would be close enough that if I made a racket someone would certainly hear me.

'Hell, not even the bats are out this late, what do I have to worry about?'

"Awfully late for a stroll isn't it?" Called a female voice.

Although I had only heard the voice from cut scenes and a couple brief conversations, I recognized the speaker as Lucina.

"Depends. It could be early you know."

Lucina was wearing her mask again, despite the fact we had all seen her face by this point.

"Why aren't you asleep?"

"I could ask the same."

Lucina gazed up at the sky.

"You've saved Emmeryn. This should change the future, right?"

She turned her head to me. The mask prevented me from seeing her face, but her voice sounded full of hope.

"You claim to know so much, do you know the future?"

I gazed past her.

"I barely even know the present Lucina. I doubt sparring Emmeryn has done anything to change the future."

Lucina shook slightly. I walked over to comfort her, going so far as to reach out to her, but I hesitated.

"Lucina... The timeline you're from... You knew Robin, and he obviously wasn't me. Since Robin didn't exist in this timeline anymore, does that mean you won't either?"

She didn't say anything.

"Who's your mother?"

Still silence.

'Oh bugger me...'

"Chrom asked for Olivia's hand in marriage earlier today."

"We both know that's a lie Sane."

'Wait... If she knows then am I..?'

"I should've known better than to try and fool you."

"I inherited my mothers cleverness."

'Lucina remembers a timeline containing Robin as the Avatar.'

Lucina took off her mask.

"Have you figured it out yet?"

'Meaning in her timeline, the Avatar could not be her mother.'

"Give me a minute, contrary to popular belief logic is not my strong point."

'Therefore, it would be impossible for her mother to be the Avatar in THIS timeline also.'

I bit my lip.

'Oh my God... If this is cannon...'

"Brother or sister?"

Lucina cocked her head to the side.

"Why does that matter?"

"Humor me."

"Sister."

'Oh God dammit...'

Hiding my discontent, I smiled at Lucina.

"Thanks for telling me who your mother is. You have no idea how much weight that took of my shoulders."

Lucina frowned.

"Was the possibility that you were my mother that horrid?"

'Kind of yeah.'

"I have... Problems, Lucina. I couldn't raise a child without passing on those problems. I'd be a wretched mother to any child."

"You mustn't be so hard on yourself Sane!"

I shrugged.

"No matter, your mother is kind and loving enough."

She smiled.

"Thank you."

She bowed her head and quickly departed. I stayed standing there a bit longer before returning to the castle. I thought about what Lucina said, about if we changed the future. I knew Valm would still attack, and Validar would still somehow gain control of Plegia, but for each constant there were a thousand variables that could be changed and I was sure that if just one of those changed so could the future. It was these hopeful thoughts that brought a smile to my face as I returned to my room back at the castle. When I reached my room I finally felt like I would be able to sleep as I quietly slipped inside. To my surprise, the room was not empty. Sitting on my bed was none other than Lissa. She looked like she was struggling to stay awake, but she was awake nonetheless and smiling.

"Hi Sane!" She called sleepily.

"Lissa? What are you doing here?"

Lissa smiled sheepishly.

"I couldn't sleep."

I sighed.

"Alright. I guess you want to sleep here for a bit then?"

She nodded.

"Alright, scooch over then. I'm the bed hog here."

She burrowed under the covers and waited for me to climb into bed. When I did, she snuggled against me.

"Uh... Lissa..? Bwah, nevermind..."

I shifted so that Lissa's head was resting slightly on top of my shoulder and my arm was under her. She was light enough that my arm wasn't going to lose circulation anytime soon, and her size made her seem like an overly large teddy bear.

"Comfy?"

"Um hmmm." She murmured.

"Okay. Good night Lissa."

"Good night Sane."

So, there was definitely some 'Sane logic' in this chapter. I've decided who Chrom is marrying, (Spoiler alert: it's not Sane.) and Sane is kind of bummed about it... Because I freaking hate her daughter... The little brat, I should've just killed her instead of recruiting her... But... I'm sure Sane will be able to deal with it. I'm also thinking of making Sane a little... I dunno... I want to giver her a husband, and have her be with a wifey on the side. Would that be too much?
