Chapter 2: Somewhat Damaged

Ruby did everything she could to force the horrendous noise from her mind as it dies away, echoing ominously throughout the seemingly empty manor. The scream sent a chill down her spine, and made her feel a sense of danger that she hadn't felt minutes prior. Suddenly her earlier paranoia seemed to make sense, and she now felt more worried about her note to herself. There are things in the shadows, it said. Ruby felt that if she could go without knowing what those things are, she could live the rest of her life happily once she escaped the estate. If she escaped her fate.

She lightly slapped herself at that thought. Don't think that way, Ruby. It may not be all that bad. Yeah, you'll find the key and get out of here. Or, even better, you'll wake up! Though she liked the concept of this situation being a dream, she was well aware that the likelihood of such a turn of events was near impossible. She was awake, and she was going to trudge through the darkness like a waste deep stagnant pond if that's what it took to get out.

With that determination, she carried on her way towards the main library of the estate. Yet, even with her own self motivation, the sound of that screaming woman echoed in her mind repeatedly, even though the real sound had long since died away. She gulped at the prospect of what could be going on deeper in the manor. What happened here was horrible beyond comprehension, the note had said. But what was it? What had happened here that she wanted to forget so badly? I'm sure you have lots of questions, but I inclined to not give any answers. She shook her head. It wouldn't help to brood on the subject now. For whatever reason, she poisoned herself and forgot everything about this mansion, as well as some things from before her arrival. There was nothing she could do to undo that choice, and she had no intention of doing so. Not on purpose at least. If her little episode some fifteen minutes ago was any indication, her poison may not have been as effective as her past self had first hoped. Ruby just crossed her fingers and prayed silently that she could find what she was looking for.

A way out, she thought. I just need a way out.

The only way out is through¸ a voice whispered in her mind. It was the same voice that argued against looking for a secret passage. That same voice told her to go through the wooden door in the study she had woken up in. She didn't listen to it then, and she had no real intention of listening to it now. She found a better alternative then, and she was confident that she could do it now.

After what felt like an eternity, she crossed the threshold from the main hallway and into another, longer hallway. This new hall was much darker than the first, forcing Ruby to once again use her candle to light the way. Even with the gentle candlelight, the darkness didn't feel welcoming. There are things in the shadows, the note had said, and the scream from earlier did nothing to put Ruby's mind at ease. Worse still, every inch of these halls was made out of century old grey stone. Every step she took made a light clack, clack, clack as her shoes made contact. On one hand, if anything tried to sneak up on her, she would hear it. However, the reverse was true. She couldn't truly be quiet when she walked around. She tried her best, but even then there was still a loud echoing tap tap tap of her shoes on the stone floors. She just hoped that none of those things in the shadows were near.

Another couple of minutes passed until she found the large, heavy wooden door that lead to the library. As she approached it, she was surprised to find it cracked open ever so slightly. Ruby thought nothing of it and pushed the door open slowly, wincing as it gave a loud creak. Pushing herself into the room, she was greeted by the vastness of the room. Having wiped most of her own memory, this felt like the first time she was seeing the library in her life. Shelves of books that were four heads taller than she was and reached the ceiling were arranged in long rows. Cabinets and drawers lined any bare walls that were not occupied by a book shelf, and the center of the room sported a large circular log beam that supported the massive ceiling of the room. The shelves were dust and reeked of aged wood and paper, almost like no one had been in here for decades or more.

She didn't have a clue as to where to begin her search. Ruby opted to start searching the cabinets and the drawers nearest to her, hoping she might stumble upon something useful. It was now that she realized that the library wasn't a singular room: there were wooden arches on the right hand and left hand sides of the room that led to other wings of the area, presumably just as full of books as this on. She sighed. This might be a waste of time, but I need to start somewhere, she thought.

Ruby began her investigation, but seemingly found nothing of note. So, as the minutes ticked by, she went from shelf to shelf, cabinet to cabinet in search for some kind of clue. She found several blank pieces of old, yellow paper, some with mathematical equations that had nothing to do with anything in her situation, and a few sketches of various species of Grimm in each of the cabinets. On the bookshelves seemed to be a large collection of encyclopedias, medical texts, history books, a dictionary or two, and books on chemistry and physics; again, nothing she was really looking for. She was growing frustrated, convinced that this is the wrong place to be looking.

So it came as a surprise to her when she jerked a book out of one of the book shelves, and the wall directly in front of the room's entrance slid open, revealing a new room. Ruby paused, startled by the sound of wood sliding on stone, and peered around a bookshelf to get a view of the new found portal. Maybe something is in there, she thought.

Another part of her mind said something else, though. Much like when she reached for the door back in the study, it cried out a warning. Do not go in there¸ it said. At this point, Ruby didn't know what to do. She wanted to edge her way to the exit, but she also needed to investigate that room. She mentally flipped a coin and swallowed her fear as she inched her way towards the secret door way.

Slowly poking her head through it, she looked around cautiously. It was relatively empty, say for another open door on the right side of the room. There was a single small window that allowed the moonlight to bleed through. Ruby frowned at the room's emptiness and was about to move deeper in to investigate the other door, but that cautious voice returned; this time, sounding urgent. Do! Not! Go! In! There! Get out now!

She was about to ignore it once again, since she saw no danger, but then she heard a strange noise; metal grinding on stone. It pained her ears, but it also sent a feeling of dread through her body. The sound came from the open door to the right. Leave, he mind echoed. It's not safe here! There are things in the shadows!

She wanted terribly to obey that voice. She even started to step backwards to leave. But then she heard another voice. Unlike her mental voice of reason, this voice was physical; it really existed in reality, and it too was coming from that door. It sounded calm and melodic as it seemed to sing a series of lyrics.

"So impressed with all you do. Tried so hard to be like you. Flew too high and burnt the wing. Lost my faith in everything."

Ruby flinched. The words didn't make sense, but what really caught her off guard was the voice. She knew that voice. She didn't know how long ago her memory of the voice had come from, but it was a voice that she would never forget. Against her better judgment, she slowly made her way towards the door to investigate if she really heard her voice.

"Lick around divine debris. Taste the wealth of hate in me. Shedding skin, succumb defeat. This machine is obsolete."

Ruby gulped audibly, but it was so low that the owner of the voice didn't notice. Closer and closer she got to the door, unsure if she should really proceed. Turn back you idiot! her conscious cried. Like the fool she knew she was, she ignored it. She had to know.

"Made the choice to go away. Drink the fountain of decay. Tear a-ah -hole exquisite red. Fuck the r-rest and stab it dead."

That gasp caught Ruby off guard. It sounded like a mixture of pain and pleasure. She could feel the sweat start to drip from her brow as her fear grew more and more powerful, but her desire to know overpowered her fight or flight response. She just had to know!

And that's the moment she arrived at the door frame and froze, shocked by the sight that she saw. The room was just as empty, but it had a larger red stained glass window that allowed the moonlight to bathe the occupant in its eerie glow. At least Ruby prayed that the window was meant to be red.

Before Ruby, sitting on the floor, was her friend and partner; Weiss Schnee. She was naked and covered head to toe in bruises and cuts. A look of pure bliss stretched across the heiress' face, and her left hand held what appeared to be Myrtenaster pointed at herself. A moment later, Ruby noticed a piece of metal lying on the ground next to Weiss; it was the pointed half of Myrtenaster's blade. Ruby's eyes returned to the rapier's handle in the heiress' hand, and realization it her. "Nnng, ah-aaah~!" Weiss cried as less and less of what was left of Myrtenaster became visible; she was pleasuring herself with the broken blade. A smile crept onto her face as she continued her demented song; "Broken, bruised, forgotten sore. Too fucked up to care anymore~!"

Ruby's eyes went wide with terror. Leave now. There is nothing you can do for her. She's too far gone, her voice of reason said. "Weiss?" she asked.

"Aaah, ha?" Weiss turned towards Ruby, her face plastered with a mixture of unbearable pain and unrivaled sexual pleasure. She smiled at Ruby and stood up, letting go of the broken blade that she was using on herself. It didn't remain on the floor. Turning so that her body was facing Ruby, the younger girl was horrified to see the bloody blade sticking out of the heiress' vagina, a mixture of clear vaginal fluids and blood oozing down her thighs. "Poisoned to my rotten core," Weiss said in her singing voice. "Too fucked up to care anymore~."

Ruby backed away slowly by a couple of steps, unsure of what to do. "Weiss," she said in a hushed whisper. "What's wrong? What's happened to you?" Weiss stared back at Ruby for a few seconds before a low chuckle escaped her lips. After another second or two of this, it erupted into full blown laughter, going so far as to throw her head back as though the situation was the funniest thing she'd ever experienced. Leveling her head again to meet Ruby's eyes, the younger girl saw that there were tears streaming down the heiress' face in addition to her unnatural smile. Her left hand drifted to her crotch where she gently rubbed around the protruding blade. Reaching further down, her hand grasped the hilt of the blade and she tightened her grip. Her smile widened. "Weiss, no!" Ruby cried to stop the white haired girl.

Too late to stop her, Weiss forcefully jerked the broken sword from her vagina, opening new and old wounds alike. A glob of blood dripped onto the floor moments before she let go of her own bladder control, urinating down her legs and onto the floor, mixing pungent yellow with iron red. Weiss's body went into convulsion at that moment as well; she had reached orgasm. Ruby was horrified. Weiss pointed the broken blade towards the younger girl and slowly approached, her bare feet making wet plopping noises as she stepped through her own blood and urine. "Let me show you," she said to Ruby. "Let me show you what it's like. Let me liberate you. You'll like it."

Run! Run you damned fool! her voice of reason yelled, and this time Ruby didn't ignore it. Turning, she put all of her strength into her feet as she began to make her escape. Weiss had apparently picked up Myrtenaster's tip when Ruby turned around, because the slender metal went soaring passed Ruby's head. It embedded into the ancient wood of the door frame just in front of the young huntress, which only added to the terror that coursed through her veins. Please, she thought frantically. What is going on? I don't want to die!

As her shoes made their telltale clack clack clack as she ran, and even though the silence had been destroyed by her heavy footfalls, as well as the blood pumping in her ears, she still managed to make out the sound of Weiss's bare feet on the cold stone floor.

Plop. Plop. Plop. Plop plop. Plop plop. Plop plop plop plop. She was getting faster. Ruby wasted no time rushing to the library's door and closing it behind her when she exited. She panted heavily, hoping that she might be safe for the moment. The sight of the broken Myrtenaster being forced through the door next to her head made her soon realize that she wasn't in the clear just yet. Gasping in terror, she took off running for the main entrance hall. The library door was forced open, and Weiss resumed her chase of Ruby. "Come here, Ruby," she said in a strikingly calm voice. "I promise you it'll hurt real good. Just like when we first got here."

Ruby shook her head, trying to ignore Weiss. No, she thought. That's not Weiss! Weiss wouldn't do this! Maybe she used to be Weiss, but not anymore. She's...she's something else.

"Don't you remember?" Weiss called as the two girls ran. "All the torturous things we went through? Or maybe...maybe you didn't experience them? Maybe it was just me? Ha!" She laughed again.

There it was; the main entrance hall. Ruby forced her legs to go even faster, finding it odd that she couldn't use her semblance. Maybe it was a side effect of the poison? She reached the other side and slammed the door. The door had a wooden bar to lock it from her side, which she promptly threw over so as to seal it off. A loud thud reached her ears from the other side as Weiss slammed into the door, trying to force it open. "Don't worry," she said in her calm voice. "It's okay if you didn't do it like I did. I can teach you, Ruby!" A subtle moan escaped the heiress' lips; Ruby could only assume that she was pleasuring herself again. "We can bleed together, Ruby. Share the pain. Love the pain. Maybe, just maybe, we'll pleasure ourselves so well that we'll die! Can you imagine? Killing ourselves with pleasure? Nn~aaah~!"

Ruby dropped to the ground in a ball, leaning against a wall away from the door as she covered her ears, trying to drown out the sound of her closest friend enjoy herself as she slowly destroyed her own body. What the hell happened? Closing her eyes, another wave of images washed over her.

"Wow~!" Weiss said as she entered Ketzerei Manor and looked around at her surroundings. A smile crept on her face as she appreciated the architecture. She turned to Ruby, who stood before her in greeting. "I had no idea Professor Ozpin had such a prestigious home in his family."

Ruby smiled and giggled lightly. "It is quite surprisingly. I didn't expect to find myself at a place like this either," she said.

Weiss arched an eyebrow. "How long have you been waiting here with the Professor?"

"Two days. It's not been that bad. I mean, aside from the spontaneous supplementary lessons in Grimm Anatomy."

Weiss laughed. "Well, you certainly needed the help in that course." She looked around. "I was under the impression the rest of the team would be here. Where's Blake and Yang?"

Ruby shrugged. "I hoped you would all arrive at the same time. They should be here later today."

"And I look forward to having all of you for company," came the voice of Ozpin, he made his way down one of the staircases. "I hope I didn't inconvenience you too much, Miss Schnee. It wasn't my plan have you give up your Spring Break for my sake."

"Not at all, Professor," Weiss greeted with a courteous bow. "Honestly, it gets me away from my family, so I can't really complain."

"Well, I'm happy to help, then."

"One question though, Professor; what exactly do you need us for?"

Ozpin gave his best smile. "All in due time, Miss Schnee. I will tell you all when the rest of your team arrives. No sooner, and no later." He turned to Ruby. "Speaking of which; they are due to arrive within a few hours, correct?" Ruby nodded. "Well, we mustn't waste a moment. I'll begin the preparations for dinner. Miss Rose, I hate to ask this of a guest, but could you show Miss Schnee around for me?"

"Absolutely!" she answered enthusiastically. "Come on, Weiss! You're going to love it here!"

Ruby opened her eyes and noticed a lack of sound; Weiss wasn't pounding on the door, nor was she making any sound of any kind to alert Ruby of her presence beyond the door. Ruby approached the door, and considered opening it for a moment. Don't do it, her rational side said. She agreed with it this time. It wouldn't be wise to tempt fate. Wiping a tear away from her eyes, Ruby stared longingly at the door. "What happened to you, Weiss?"

Author's Note

God damn, what the hell did I just write? I've never written anything this dark before. I would like to point out that, for the record, I felt very uncomfortable and hesitant writing, ah, Weiss's naughty scenes. I have never, ever written sexual content in any of my stories. Any time sex would be present, I would write it in such a way that it was implied; I would never actively describe it or any such similar sequence. Even nudity in my stories would be more implied and less descriptive. Can I just point out that I actually wrote the word vagina in this god forsaken story? I'll be honest, I have a pretty foul fucking mouth in real life, and I confidently say alot of stuff that most people I know can't even think without feeling like a terrible person about. Yet, in my writing, I purposely gave myself a limiter. In eleven years, I've never described sex, nudity, or used a large amount of obscene words (with the exception of an occasional "fuck" for good measure.)

Basically, what I'm saying is that I have a long list of things that I don't do in my stories. It's a comfort level thing. And in this single chapter, I violently violated my own comfort zone. I delved so far out of my own comfort zone that I was actually sending excerpts to a friend of mine and asking him "Why the hell am I writing this!? It's so horrible! It's so dark! It's so disturbing! I don't know how I feel about myself anymore!"

I loved his response. "You're writing a horror, right? And you feel uncomfortable? Then you're doing a good job. Don't stop."

Thank you, friend with ridiculously long hair. Your words of advice ring clearly now. This story is meant to be uncomfortable. I want to destroy your comfort zone just as I have destroyed my own. If you feel I went too far with this chapter, then I know that I've done what I set out to do.

I mean, I'm still going to apologize. I am so, so, so sorry for how I've treated Weiss in this chapter. And, sadly, it gets no cleaner from here on out. So, I am incredibly sorry. But I did warn you!

You know, even though I'm a native to Tennessee, I find that I turn Canadian when I write fan fics; always apologizing and shit.

Fun Fact: I start working this week. I have a job! YEAH~! Also, I'm really digging my new glasses. Being able to see is pretty cool.

Till next time, when the spiral goes even further down.
