Guess who's back. Back again. Charlie's back. Tell a friend.
"Are you kidding me?" Charlotte growled in frustration. "Fuck. I thought that was all over." She violently threw my hand through my hair.
"I had no idea what was happening. Okay, the witches led me there. They wanted him to feed so he turned." Bonnie insisted.
"So where's the damn stake now?" The oldest Gilbery sighed.
"Oh, you mean the white oak one? The one that can kill an Original and wipe out an entire line of vampires? We don't know," Damon remarked as he glared at Bonnie.
"You are all so annoying. I need coffee." Charlotte poured herself a cup of coffee. Black. She liked the bitterness, now.
She took her mug and walked out of the kitchen and into the living room, where Jeremy was sitting.
"Fuck this,"
"Cheers to that," Jeremy replied, raising his cup of whatever.
Just as Charlotte sat down, the damned door bell rang. Charlotte gave JEremy a smiling, pleading look. Jeremy sighed and got up to open the door.
"What the hell do you want?"
"Now, is that any way to treat a guest?"
As soon as she heard the voice, she flashed to the door, pushing Jeremy behind her.
"What the hell are you doing here, Klaus?" Charlotte growled.
"That's not the way to treat a guest."
Charlotte closed the door and locked it.
"I will burn this house down!" He called. Stefan rounded the corner then. "What's going on?"
Damon followed and pressured Jeremy into going into his room. Stefan opened the door.
"What do you want, Klaus?"
"Poor lad. Loses one questionable father figure only to be replaced by the likes of the two of you,"
Charlotte involuntarily let out a low growl. He rolled her eyes at her.
"Yeah, about that. Something happened," Damon remarked.
"Oh, I know all about my mother's invulnerable little creation and that's why I'm here. I'm leaving town, just need to pick up a few road trip necessities. Spare tire, flashlight, doppelgänger,"
At that last word, Charlotte let out a shriek of a growl and started to pounce on him, but Damon violently grabbed her and threw her back. "Cool it, Gilbert!"
Klaus laughed an impatient laugh.
"Sorry we can't help you out," Damon said shortly and closed the door.
"Elena!"
But then the gang couldn't find her.
"Well, fuck."
So, it went down as follows:
Charlotte realized that the only place Elena could be is at the school where Klaus said Rebecca saw Zombie Ric. Because, like, Elena could not stay out of fucking trouble. And after a little cooperation, Charlotte playing diplomat as always, they formulated a plan. Distract Ric. Infiltrate the school. Do some witch stuff. Save Elena and Caroline.
So they split up. Damon and Stefan were on one team, Klaus and Charlotte on the other. And then Jeremy and Bonnie. Gag. Anyway, they all drank Bonnie's blood and then it was time to throw down.
As Klaus and Charlotte were stalking the halls, Caroline, in a frenzy, walked right back into Klaus, who covered her mouth before she could scream. I rushed over to them. "You're okay. You're safe."
Klaus assured her she was safe and commanded she go home. Charlotte and Klaus continued to walk the halls to fulfill their plan to save Elena.
"You could leave too, you know," Klaus suggested.
"As if," Charlotte replied with a scoff.
"I'm serious. This is going to get very messy. You're a new vampire. You won't be able to handle it."
"Sure, Klaus. Let me just go home and leave Elena's life in the worst hands possible: you, Stefan, and Damon," She whispered back bitterly. "No. And I know you're plan, and don't you dare think for a second I'm going to allow you to get away with it."
He chuckled quietly and bitterly. "I would be worried if you did."
"No. I'm all in."
"Fine. Suit yourself."
And, like that, Klaus snapped Charlotte's neck.
"Yo, Blondie." Charlotte felt something nudging her. She slowly, and groggily, opened her eyes to find none other than Tyler Fucking Lockwood leaning over her. As soon as she saw him she rushed and pushed him to the wall."
"Shit!" Her neck still felt like shit. Talk about whiplash.
"Cool it. I'm on your side."
"Says the person who was responsible for making my brother almost get run over by a fucking car."
"The sire bond is broken. I broke it, Charlie."
Charlotte let out a sigh of relief and let Tyler go. "Well, shit." Tyler shrugged and gave her an arrogant look. "What the fuck happened?"
"Klaus brought you back here with Elena. He tried draining her and letting her die. It's okay. She's out. She just left with Damon and Stefan."
"Well, thanks for waking me up after I missed the clusterfuck. Where the hell is the harbringing hybrid?"
"Dead. Well, mostly dead. Paralyzed in the atlantic in a few hours."
"Well, then, I'd say this calls for a celebration."
"All we need is to take that stake away from him. Once he's been disarmed, the weapon's in my possession, my family will scatter to the ends of the Earth and Alaric will follow us."
"No deal," Charlotte muttered. She was ignored, as usual. Charlotte glanced over to Damon, who was driving in the seat next to her.
"And you'll just run?" Stefan asked.
"We've done it before. Klaus and Rebekah spent the better part of a thousand years evading my father. What's another half century while Elena is able to live out the rest of her natural life?"
"Sorry, but I'm not about to put my life in the hands of a family's capability to run away." Ignored, again.
"We've finally stopped him, Elijah. After everything that he's done to us, I can't just let you bring him back," Elena negotiated.
"I give you my word, Elena. I will not revive Klaus within yours nor even within your children's lifetimes. Perhaps that will finally teach him some manners."
"No." Charlotte proclaimed.
"Why should she trust you? All you've done is screw her over."
"Thank you, Matt." Charlotte mumbled.
"And for that, I am deeply ashamed. But know this, she could have been dead the instant I walked through that door tonight, so Elena, I leave it to you to make the decision whether to trust me or not." Elijah, spitting out honorable bullshit as always.
"Not! Hello, did that concussion give you brain damage?! His lunatic siblings will kill you the first chance they get!" Damon and Charlotte seemed to shout their protests in unison.
"Rebekah and Kol will honor the terms. If you return Klaus' body to us, Elena will come to no harm. Do we have a deal?"
"No! Elena, Elena, please. You can't. You can't do this!" Charlotte shouted over the line.
"Elena, it's up to you," They heard Stefan say.
"We have a deal."
And with that, Charlotte hung up the phone in anger. She put her hand to her hand, embarrassed at the tears coming out of her eyes. She glanced in the mirror to a quiet Bonnie in the back seat.
"It was her call, Charlotte." Bonnie whispered.
"I'm so tired. I'm so, so tired of dealing with these fucking Originals. When will we learn that everything they touch turns to death? Klaus killed Jenna. He tried to kill Elena. He fucking killed me!"
Damon said nothing, but released one hand from the steering wheel and put it around her, squeezing her right shoulder, and staring dead ahead at the road.
Charlotte silently listened to Damon's and Stefan conversation about Elena on the phone. Damon sat up and Charlotte had her feet on his lap as she laid across the couch, bottle of vodka in hand. Then, the bell rang and Damon hung up on Stefan.
"Could you handle this? I'm a little busy," Charlotte bitterly smiles as she swirled the vodka in the bottle.
Damon rolled his eyes and pushed Charlotte's feet off of him. Charlotte drank and waited for Damon to come back, but it had been a while. She got worried, so she wandered out of the unit and only steps way from her Damon lay, collapsed on the ground.
"Shit. Damon. Damon. Wake up, Damon."
She kicks him and then grows bored before pouring her drink on him. That made him wake up.
"Shit, Charlie."
"What the fuck happened?"
"Alaric happened. That's what."
So Damon and Charlotte went to hunt down Alaric because Rebecca was bound to show up any minute. She came in suddenly, yelling and banging about, drawing every ounce of attention, so Charlotte and Damon and to shut her fucking mouth.
But then in a whirlwind everything happened. Alaric had found the unit. He ripped the coffin open. Then Klaus was dead.
Rebecca ran. Alaric chased.
And Charlotte embraced her impending death.
Damon and Charlotte wandered back to the unit they were in earlier. Charlotte found her previous bottle and held it up with a small, incredibly sad smile. Damon pulled out his phone and called Stefan.
"An hour isn't enough."
"For our epic goodbye?"
"Not ours, brother. Yours and Elena's."
Damon hung up and looked to Charlotte.
"Well, Charlie, it look it's like it's just you and me."
"Cheers," Charlie said as she raised her bottle.
"I gotta say. If I have to die with anyone, I'm glad it's with you."
And later Elena called Damon. Charlie listened to her conversation with tears in her eyes. Then she got a phone call.
"Hi, Elena."
"Hi, Lottie." She heard Elena crying. "Where are you?"
"Kickin it with a bottle of liquor and my best friend."
"You're with Damon?" Elena asked shocked and upset.
"Yeah."
"I figured- I figured you were on your way back to Mystic Falls already. I-I already turned around. I-Matt. We have to turn around-"
"Elena. There's no time."
"We have to!" She screamed.
"We can't."
Charlotte looked up to see Alaric.
"Don't worry, Elena. Don't think I'm gonna die on you this easily. It's gonna take a lot more to get rid of me. Get back to your epic love, Elena."
Charlotte hung up.
"I'm gonna go take a walk. I need some time alone," Charlotte insisted. "I don't feel anything now. It should be a while before, you know. And who knows, Damon. You might still live."
Charlotte stalked out of the room and began walking. She was in peace until her phone rang again.
"Tyler?"
"Guess again, love."
"Klaus?" Charlotte was in shock. Disbelief. "How?"
"Takin' a loaner from my mate Tyler. Bonnie has got quite the talent. Anyway, I need everyone to think I'm dead. And since you and Tyler are the only ones that were directly turned by me, well..."
"What?"
"I need you to fake your death."
"Absolutely not," Charlotte declared. "I'm going to tell-"
"You're not going to tell anyone. Because if you do I will not hesitate to kill you and everyone you love. Say, I could always finish the job on your dear brother-"
"Fine. What do you want."
"I have an associate of mine outside of the storage center. I'll give you about two minutes to get there before I set my sights on Jeremy."
