"Wow" was the only thing Jane could get out when they finally stepped inside Maura's home, Jane was looking around in an awe of the huge house and didn't even notice the woman that approached them until she greeted them; Maura spoke politely to the older woman and asked her to prepare them some towels. Jane knew that with Maura now Isles that she had more money than she cared for but never really imagined seeing Maura fitting so easily in a place like this. Maura lead Jane to a bathroom and brought her something to wear before she headed to take a shower herself.

After wearing a pair of jeans that were a bit short and shirt, Jane emerged from the bathroom looking for Maura. When she found no sign of the blond, Jane started wandering around the house looking for her.

"Hello there" Jane turned startled when she heard a voice coming from behind her; she turned around to find the woman that greeted them earlier "miss isles will be with you in a few moments, would you like anything to drink miss?"

"No thanks'" the woman excused herself and left. Leaving Jane looking at a collection of photos, all framed and placed neatly all around the living room, all of them were of a man and a woman not younger than her parents. They looked happy and they looked as they had traveled the whole world yet Jane couldn't help but wonder why there weren't any pictures of….

"Those are the Isles" a voice came from behind her and she turned to see Maura making her way to where Jane was standing.

"They look happy" Jane commented when they both looked back at the photos

"Yeah they do, don't they?" Maura mumbled more to herself than to Jane. Jane turned her attention to Maura who`s eyes were still studying the photos. Maura could feel Jane's gaze on her and could also sense the question that was playing in Jane's head "it's hard to miss that I'm not in any of them huh?" Jane didn't say a thing and watched as Maura let out a snort, she could feel the pain behind it

"Photos resemble the time that we are happy in, the time that we want to keep forever. All the memories that we cherish so much" Maura stated as a matter of fact "I suppose it only makes since that I'm not in them" she said quietly. Jane watched as emotions ran through Maura's face: anger, sorrow, sadness, rage and pain. At some point Maura's eyes turned glassy but Maura blinked again and the tears were gone "they didn't even want anything to do with me at first "Maura trailed off

If it wasn't for Alex I …

"Maura?" Jane asked when Maura spaced out; Maura shook her head trying to get these thoughts out of her head

"Come on I want to show you something" Maura said with a smile as she locked eyes with Jane. they walked to what Jane assumed to be Maura's room but there was nothing to indicate that it was her room, nothing on the wall, noting on the bed and except for the ridiculously large books this room looked like any another room , abandoned and empty . Jane didn't like her room with all the pink and posters and stuff but still, that room belonged to Jane and everyone knew it. Here, no one can even tell that someone is occupying the room.

Maura head to a small glass box and pulled something carefully out of it, holding the item between her hands, she offered it to Jane with a proud smile. Jane's eyes went wide when she recognized the item, it was a bubble head, it was her Mariano Rivera bubblehead . Jane reached out slowly and took it in on hand, taping the head with her other hand "you kept it?" Jane quietly, still in shock form seeing the item. Maura nodded proudly with a smile reaching her ears

"Yes! It was the only constant in my life for a while and it helped me through a lot of things, thank you Jane." Jane just stared at the item in her head with a smile forming on her lips , happy that even when she wasn't there for Maura, the blond had something to get her through " now it's time for it to go back to its rightful owner" Jane's head shot up quickly

"What?" Jane was horrified of the idea of Maura rejecting her gift

"Yeah to finally complete your collection again" Maura explained, confused why Jane looked horrified like that. Jane shook her head before offering the bubblehead to Maura again

"No, I gave it to you. It's for you to keep" Maura's eyes lit up

"Really?" Maura was still not sure

"Yeah" Jane shrugged "I mean I already don't have a collection so" Maura reached hesitantly for the bubblehead

"You don't?" Maura felt that it was odd that Jane who was bragging about how she`ll have a great collection when she grow up didn't have a collection by now

"No, well I had a collection a while back but I sort of…. Smashed them all" Jane said with a shy smile as she ran head hand though her hair

"Why would you do that?" Maura asked suspiciously

"it`s just that…I kind of…. I was just mad okay?" Jane finally spilled with her hands in the air then dropped them in defeat; Maura was staring at Jane without saying anything. When she finally opened her mouth to say something they were interrupted by the maid who told Maura that their drinks were ready "but ... I didn't..." Jane tried when Maura cut her off

"I told her to make us some hot chocolate" Maura placed the bobble head back at the box carefully before walking past Jane "let's go, we don't want it to get cold"

Jane fallowed Maura and they both ended up on the coach with each holding a cup of hot chocolate in her hands. Jane could feel the heat seeping from the cup and into her palms as she held the cup between her two palms, it felt well. The weather and the rain from earlier weren't merciful on her hands and it hurt like hell, the hot shower did her some good but she could swear that the cold was nesting deep in the center of each palm and holding the cup like this was the best way to ease the pain.

Tightening her grip on the cup, Jane turned to look at Maura who was sipping hers slowly with her eyes on the flat screen that was on the wall in front of them. Maura had seen her hand, took it between hers but didn't even ask about it. She acted as if it wasn't important to know and that it was weird, everyone wanted to know, everyone asked question the moment they even glanced at her hands, but not Maura. A small smile played on Jane's lips before she took a sip from her cup that Maura is something she thought.

"Scars means we survived"

Maura had said that when she acknowledges her scar, she never thought about it like that, ever! It was and still is the simple of her weakness, foolishness. Trying to act as if what happened earlier in the court didn't happen didn't t ease the Pressure that Jane felt at all! She kept waiting for Maura to pop the question, to even mention the scars but that never happened. Maura was quietly sipping from her cup and watching the TV, Jane couldn't handle it any longer

"Just say it already" Jane said in a pleading voice out of the blue

"Say what?" Maura looked clueless

"Whatever it is that you want to say or ask about my scars" Jane saw the realization in Maura's eyes before she smiled as

"Jane , I'm not going to ask a question you won't answer and I don't want you to feel uncomfortable" she said as if it was the most obvious thing and that throw Jane off a bit

"What makes you think I won't answer?"Jane asked quietly, Maura just looked at her with a 'come on' look before she spoke

"Because if you wanted me to know then you would have said something yourself" Jane broke eye contact and fixed her gaze on the steaming liquid between her hands, not having anything to say. Maura was right, if she wanted she would`ve told her but she didn't. She didn't want Maura to start looking at her the way everyone does.

"It's ok Jane. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, really" Maura assured her and Jane looked up to see the Honesty in Maura's face. She offered a weak smile before turning to the TV wanting anything to turn this conversation around.

"Mum, why are we watching a documentary?" Jane turned again waiting for an answer from Maura

"What? You don't watch documentaries?" Maura said joking before giggling

"On purpose?" Jane's eyebrows flowed, Maura's mouth opened but nothing come out

"yes!" she finally said "I …" she looked between Jane and the TV trying to get words out , Jane was raising an eyebrow at Maura with amusement " oh shut up" Maura finally said with a smile as she nudged Jane's shoulder who was finally laughing

"my Janie" the man said with a proud tone as he grazed his finger over the photo in his hands " look at you all grown up" he said as if talking to the picture . The picture was of Jane walking in the street with another girl, a blonde girl. Something was different about Jane, among all the pictured he had received over the time, this was the first one of her smiling. Jane looked at ease with this girl that was just going to make it more fun when he finally comes to the picture. "who`s that girl with her?" he asked leaning his head to where the other man was standing behind him

"That's Maura isles doctor"

"Mmm, isles you say?" he said in his calm tone

"A rich brat that just moved to Boston. The two have been spending a lot of time together" the man shrugged

"Is that so?" he adjusted himself in his seat to a more comfortable potion "and why do you think that my Janie would befriend a rich brat?" his calm demeanor didn't change but his question sounded as if he was mocking the other man`s intelligence "find me everything you can about this 'Maura isles'. A person's past can be very surprising, useful even in some cases" he looked at the photo again, this time looking at the blond girl "miss isles could be the last straw that finally breaks my Janie"

"what could you possibly find in a kid`s past" the man said with a snore

"Have I taught you nothing? Darkness is always there, you just have to look close enough to see it" he finally allowed his sly smile to show what skeletons will we find in your past Maura isles?

The two decided to watch something 'cooler' as Jane put it. Maura had to admit that the movie was nice and there was no denying that she enjoyed it just as Jane predicted. Jane would make a comment on every now and then to be reworded in Maura's sweet smile and sometimes they would even start laughing. It was so easy being around Maura, it made her forget, made her enjoy herself without a care in the world, it made her happy just seeing the blond smile. At first the movie idea started as a way to pass time while Jane waited for her clothes to dry but they soon forgot about that and just enjoyed each others company, they didn't even remember why they were watching the movie until it was over. Changing back to her clothes gave Jane the chance to finally look at the clock and came back to the living room to say goodbye "it's getting late. I should go, ma is probably worried about me right now" Jane said apologetically with a smile

"Oh" Maura was a bit disappointed, she already knew that Jane won't be staying forever but the time just seemed to fly whenever the two were together and they couldn't have enough of each others company. "Will I see you tomorrow at school?" Maura got up from the couch

"Uhh, yeah. I think so" Jane said with a shrug " oh I almost forget, I'll give you my phone number so you don't have to stand in the rain like a crazy person waiting for me anymore ok?" Jane finally said jokingly

Maura smiled embarrassed as she felt the blood rush to her cheeks "OK"

So, what do you think? please review . I`m sure you figured out who the 'doctor' is , maybe i`ll have an encounter between him and Maura, noting too dramatic trust me,just to build up the story from there . any ideas? :)
