Maura walked out of the car heading to the school building , she caught a glimpse of Jane standing in her usual spot, she didn't even bother to look at Jane just kept walking as if not noticing her at .

All after all, it's what Jane wanted right? Maura told herself. at first she would feel sorrow every time she saw Jane but after a week or so convinced herself that she didn't care that she doesn't need anyone and she certainly doesn't need Jane`s pity .

Soon that feeling passed and rage was the only thing left, at first she felt conflicted. Was she supposed to be grateful? Jane was the last push she needed to finally except and embrace her true self, or angry because it was Jane that made her come to believe that this was her true self, she fought against it for awhile refusing to believe it but it was Jane that finally made her stop, made her lose her battle with herself and with her demons.

Reaching her locker she found another note, she got used to them by now. she`s been receiving them every day for the last two weeks, each one of them telling her how she was supposed to feel, she refused to believe any of it at the beginning but they were right, with everything even with Jane .

They told her that this was going to happen, that they`ll end up like this, that Jane was just playing with her from the start. She didn't really care about her or about being friends. Jane was just looking for away to pass time, to find someone that was more messed up than she was so that she wouldn't have to feel sorry for herself all the time .

She hated Jane, everything about her. She couldn't stand looking at her; it made her feel angry, mostly angry with herself for believing that Jane was once her friend. How could she have been so naïve that she didn't see it coming?

She was also exhausted, drained. The dreams wouldn't go away, she didn't know if she should call them nightmares .they helped her, they were like fuel to her hatred. It was from these dreams that she started to understand more and more about herself, her true self. At least that what she convinced herself in.

They were always the same; she would open her eyes to find her reflection staring at her. The first time she had this dream she was terrified. a person that looked exactly like her but with blood shot eyes would talk to her , asking her all these questions that she could not answer.

Telling her all these truths she wanted to ignore. She fought at first, trying to use logic to her benefit against this mental war but her resolve broke a little bit with every dream.

Hearing the sound of falling water she opened her eyes to see that she was sitting in front of a waterfall , it was beautiful " why didn't you say yes?" a voice said from a distant . Maura looking around but nobody was there but herself. "You and I both know how much you love math, so why didn't you?" the voice came back again

"who`s there?" Maura stood up, gathering her courage and hoping that her voice sound strong

" that guy suddenly got nice and tried to get friendly with you, huh?" a shadow appeared behind the waterfall before the person took a step forward bringing herself directly under the waterfall that soaked her clothes instantly "he was disgusting wasn't he?"

Maura`s eyes widen as she stood face to face with the mirroring image of herself , the blood shot eyes and the wicked smirk was the only different things between them .

"Everyone used to treat us like lepers. Now that its isles instead of Doyle, everyone wants to be friends with us huh?" her voice was dripping with amusement.

Maura swallowed hard before trying to speak, her mouth suddenly dry "who are you?" she asked terrified of the answer she was about to get

The girl`s smirk widened as if trying to hold herself from laughing at Maura "can't you tell?"

She placed a hand on her waist "all that information running through that brain and can't even recognize you? Tsk tsk" the girl shook her head slowly as if disappointed

"What are you saying?" Maura asked confused. The girl raised her head looking around at the place they were in

"it`s a beautiful place, I have to say I never thought that this is how we`ll meet. I like it" she said walking around barefoot , the water reaching just above her ankles , her clothes and hair still soaking wet from the water fall. Maura who was standing on dry land in front of the waterfall kept her eyes on the figure as it moves around slowly

. the girl looked back at Maura still amused at Maura`s expression "I'm you" she finally said calmly. Maura squeezed her eyes and shook her head

"I don't know you, stop making stuff up" Maura said angrily

"I'm the real you" the girl continued, ignoring Maura "the precious hatred inside you" her smirk widened again as she took in Maura`s shocked face "you can't kick me out, cus I'm the real one and you`re just fake"

Maura bolted up in her bed; her heart beat racing and breathing short. That was the first time she had these dreams, after two weeks now she stopped bolting up.

She would just open her eyes to the ceiling of her bedroom before getting up. Knowing well that she won't be able to sleep anymore. Spending the rest of the night meditating, she would think about her latest dream, the truth of it all.

The dreams would drag on longer and longer each night until finally she started sleeping three of four hours tops every night. Coffee was the only solution she found, that helped at first. Now she would drink it as if it was water, no effect and not even a taste in her mouth. Nursing her latest mug of coffee she remembered what some of the letters said

In the past, they thought of you as a relic, a reminder that is hard to get rid of. Now you`re an isles, the daughter of a wealthy family that can shower them with money if befriended you

Some of the girls and the boys at her school did try to be friends with her they would always start with "your Maura isles aren't you?" Maura just took it as a confirmation of what the letter said and shut them out.

The real I, I never even gave it a thought. But somewhere deep inside I'm still…

Its true I still don't know if they would have made an effort like they did if they knew who I really am Maura thought , there was no way to test this theory either , she can't tell anyone who she is , the only one that really know was Jane and look how that turned out . Maura sighed and drank her coffee.

Jane watched as Maura walked passed her pretending not to see her. It was for the best Jane told herself.

She wasn't going to drag Maura further into this and she sure as hell wasn't going anywhere near Maura as long as Hoyt is still out. She really did miss Maura and it broke her to see Maura so alone, she hadn't seen her with anyone. She would sometimes see people approaching Maura every now and then but Maura would just send them away.

She remembered the look in Maura`s eyes when she ignored her, pretending that she was too busy to spend time with the blonde anymore.

Maura stopped coming to the roof in the lunch break, but who could blame her? After the way Jane had treated her no one can blame Maura. Maura didn't give up easily Jane would give her that; she really did try to mend things with Jane although she had no idea what she did wrong to upset Jane.

Jane didn't even give her a chance to understand why she was doing this. The less she knows the safer she will be. It's bad enough that dragged her family into this; there was no need to put someone else in danger, especially Maura. Not after what she had gone through, she deserves some peace.

When Jane saw Hoyt with Maura she felt terrified. She knew what Hoyt was capable of and was surprised that he hadn't harmed Maura already. she also knew that Hoyt was a sick basted who loved to play mind games and she was not going to risk Maura`s life just so she could have someone to talk with.

How stupid could she have been? Thinking that Hoyt was going to leave her alone.

Yes, it was better this way and maybe when Hoyt is finally dead she could talk to Maura and tell her why she did what she did. That she never meant to hurt her, only to protect her.

God, if she only knew what Hoyt was up to. With each day passing, she couldn't help dreading what Hoyt was planning. Her guts told her that something terrible was going to happen and that nothing she could do would prepare her for what's coming.

"My Janie, always trying to protect others." the amused voice said before chuckling "if she think that by staying away from this Maura she`ll protect her from me then she couldn't have been more wrong"

"What do we do now doctor?"

"Now, we wait"

"What about this Maura person?"

"well, she`s the reason why were waiting. You have to understand that breaking a person cannot be done over night. I'm actually enjoying this" looking at both Maura and Jane`s photo in his hand

"with Jane, all I had to do is take her control away but with Maura" he paused stroking Maura`s reflection with his finger "it's a whole different story, not about control at all. It's about who she is, make her doubt that, make her believe something else and you`ll have on hell of a specimen on your hand. I curious how far I can take this. Don't get me wrong I still want Jane but you see … this Maura person can be the destruction of Jane both mentally and physically. It won't be long before the table is finally set"

Maura walked up to Jane with a smile, Jane as usual had her fists in her pockets but she attempted a weak smile when she found Maura`s gaze. "Hi" said Maura still smiling.

"Hey" Jane replied with a gravelly voice. She took in Maura`s appearance, how was she supposed to do this to her? After what Maura has been through, after everything that has happened. It was for the best, she kept telling herself. "So listen uh...I can't really walk you home today" Jane said the last part quickly, trying to just get it over with. She know that if she kept looking in those hazel eyes that she would cave and will never be able to do it

"Oh?" Maura said a hint of disappointment in her voice. Jane shifted her weight

"Yeah, I go this thing that I need to take care of so..." she shrugged

"Oh, Ok, I`ll see you tomorrow then?" Maura said hopefully trying to hide her sadness, she really just needed a moment of simplicity walking with Jane but since that was no longer an option she could at least look forward to the next day

"I don't really know about that either" Jane said with a fake smile, she can't stay there any longer, she has to get away from Maura`s gaze and fast. "I've got to go; I'll see you around ok?" Jane said as she started to turn around and leave.

Maura was still just standing there looking at Jane as she left, she opened her mouth to call after her but noting came out. there was something about Jane`s tone that made her think that she won't be seeing Jane 'around' anytime soon and that thought itself made her feel as though someone was gripping at her heart .

Finally reaching home, Maura laid in her bed reading the note over and over. Something just clicked, it felt right, that these are the thought that she buried deep down and never let them surface and kept denying that they even existed. Seeing them now, written on paper made it hard to deny there existence.

Sighing, she finally placed the note on the bed next to her before getting up to take a bath. it really has been a weird day, first it was Jane`s doctor, the note and then Jane skipping their walk and looking at her the way she did.

maybe she was just over thinking things , Jane was allowed to skip their walk , it was not mandatory it was just something they enjoyed .maybe Jane would be in a better mood tomorrow, right?
