DanganRonpa:

I'll Dance On Your Grave

Chapter 5:

Kyoko's P.O.V

"Nothing happening... as per usual." I thought to myself as I drove my patrol car through town. I had perfectly good reason to say so as well. The sun was hidden by multiple clouds which looked like it was about to storm. It was 2:30 in the afternoon, and no one was out and about doing anything. Another dead day.

"Well, it's Monday. I could spare some time and get a drink while I'm riding around town." I told myself as I watched the town's convenience store come into view. There was one car parked there, meaning that Aoi must've been working today. Which was great! It'd keep me occupied for a while. As I made up my mind, I quickly pulled up onto the black asphalt and parked my car on the side of the store. Hey, I wasn't about to park in the front like some jerk! An elderly person could easily pull up later.

"Ugh, where the hell is the sun?" I asked myself as I put my car in park. Seriously, it's been dreary like this all weekend. This summer air wasn't helping at all either. In fact, it's making me wanna stay back at the office doing... well nothing! But I'd rather be about exploring town over and over, rather than sit at a desk and do nothing. We haven't had a crime happen here in a long while that wasn't petty.

"Ah, there's Aoi." I told myself as I swung my feet over the side of the car, and quickly stepped upwards. It felt great to stand again of course, but then again, I kinda wished I could've done this while sitting down. My laziness must be kicking in.

"Coke? No. Coffee. Yes! Coffee." I mentally argued with myself as I opened the door to the small store. It wasn't of any importance; just what kind of drink I wanted.

"Hey Aoi. Busy as usual aren't we?" I walked up to the counter. I could hear shuffling in the back, so I immediately assumed it was her. It certainly was her gray car in the parking lot.

"Kyoko? Ah that's you isn't it?" I heard her call out from the back. I do kinda wished she was busy. Its rough having to see her business so dead. But I can't blame her, with the weather like it is now, I wouldn't wanna leave the house either.

"Yea It's me. Just wanted to see what was up, and get a drink of course." I told her as she quickly shuffled from a room in the back. It looked like a normal office room to be honest. A few monitors, filing cabinets. Stuff like that.

"Right! I understand. It's nice outside, so a drink would be great. Help yourself." She told me as a smile crossed her face. I noticed her had her hair down all the way. Huh, that was weird. She usually keeps it up in a weird like ponytail pointed upwards. Eh, it'd make for a quick conversation. So I'll bite.

"Say.. Aoi, I noticed you have your hair down, rather than the usual up. Getting ready for something special?" I asked her as I walked towards the drink coolers. A nice Starbucks chilled coffee would feel just right. And it'd be just the spark I needed to get me through this drab and dreary day.

"Oh yea! I started doing this a few days back. The other day there was this really cute boy that stopped by. He said he was on vacation, and stopped in here for directions. I hope he comes back today! I could talk to him some more!" I heard her tell me as I bent down to reach the small container of drink. A cute guy she says? No way. Most of the people in this town were approaching their 30's handsome maybe, but not cute. And did she say vacation?

"Oh geez Aoi, who would vacation in this empty town? Nothing to do here..." I said aloud as I closed the drink cooler door. I could feel a very, very, VERY slight chill creep up my spine, but decided to let her continue.

"I didn't catch his name. But he said he was eighteen! And he was here for some break he told me. He said he was staying with his parents on Maybelle avenue. Eh, I'm sure he'll stop by sooner or later." I watched her shrug before letting out a sigh. Damnit. Damnit, damnit. Was... was she talking about that boy?!

"Aoi.. what did he look like?" I asked her, my suspicions rising ever so much. Did she have any contact with this dude at all? When?

"Uh, he was short, had brown spikey hair, and a light voice. He stopped by a few days ago, Dunno when he'll be back." I watched her lean forward over the counter. She was bored, but that was the very least of my problems at the moment.

"Uhh, about that, Aoi, he left town a few days ago." I quickly told her. I knew for a fact that he couldn't have stopped here at all. Police would've been called and all that jazz right? Right?!

"Aww he did? Goddamnit. There goes the only fun I've had in a while. Maaaaan this place is boring." I watched her complain again as I brought my drink over to the counter. I wasn't gonna take it for free, I was gonna show her some decency, and pay for it myself, even if it doesn't make a dent in her profits.

"Yea, he didn't. I for the life of me couldn't figure it out. I went over to the cabin, and found empty cases of beer, marijuana and cigarettes. He was a crazy one. Hell, he must've thrown parties before leaving! He would've made the local preacher curse." I told her, quickly improvising on the spot. No one in hell could she know what had happened.

"Aw man. Oh well I guess. While he was doing that, people like us gotta stick to our jobs, and be bored out of our minds." Aoi told me, before finally leaning up and looking at me.

"It happens. Anyways, I need to get back to patrol Aoi, I'll talk to you later." I flashed her a quick smile before turning on my heel. I needed to get out of there. Multiple beads of sweat were forming on my head. I needed to leave. I needed to go!

"Wait Kyoko!"

"Huh?!" I quickly yelped out before turning back to her.

"Next month is that.. hunting season right? If you wanna take me along and teach me basics and stuff before then, we could do that..." Aoi calmly told me. Whew, that was all she wanted?

"Y-Yes Aoi! I could do that! Gotta go!" I told her, my face instantly heating up from embarrassment, and relief. Jesus almighty she scared me! Just like that, I opened the door, and quickly headed back towards my car. I needed to calm down! She doesn't know a thing, she doesn't suspect a thing. I need to calm down, or she'll think something is up. "Relax..." I told myself as I dropped myself back into my car.

Sayaka's P.O.V

"Oh my god will you shut the hell up?!"

I shouted over at Toko as she and Celeste stood beside me. We were standing outside this cabin that Naegi stayed in. We were sent here by Kyoko to get rid of his little red car, but there was one slight problem.

"We're gonna get caught... we messed up., Our lives are over, we're gonna get in so much trouble!" I heard Toko blubbering and whining next to me. Ok, so we had two problems. Toko, and... this freaking car!

"Shut up! We aren't gonna get caught. Nothing is gonna happen to us. Do you honestly think Kyoko would have the audacity to let anything like jail time, or punishment happen to us?! No! Of course not! Shut the hell up! This was supposed to be for your benefit anyway, if you didn't wuss out at the last minute." I heard Celeste reprimand her as well. Huh, so I wasn't the only one getting tired of her rambling.

"Guys, we still have this freaking problem in front of us. How in the hell do we get rid of a car?!" I asked them. I was waiting for any suggestions. Hell, one just came to me!

"Why don't we just take this to a junkyard or something? Have them crush it, and we get a bit of money?" I heard Celeste tell me. But there was a little problem with that.

"No, that won't work. Don't junkyards need like registration, ID, something along those lines? If worse comes to worse, someone could see it there, and trace it back to us! No way we could do that..." I told them. It was a nice idea of course. But it was definitely too risky.

"Burying it?"

I heard her tell me after I shot down her suggestion. "Really? Burying it?"

"I'm doing the best I can think of! I mean it's not like we can just take his freaking car, and drown it or something right?!" Celeste told me, her voice raising up louder.

"...Or we can take his freaking car and drown it?! That's actually a good idea." I widened my eyes just thinking about it. She was right! With him and his car gone, if anyone asked about him, they'd simply think he drove off, never to be seen. And where would they even look for him? In the lake beside his cabin? No freaking way, that'd be too convenient.

"Oh? You were serious?! I knew it! I have smart ideas sometimes. Let's just push this bitch into the water. Put it in neutral, and we can roll it off the dock over there." Celeste told me, pointing towards the wooden dock that extended away from the back of his cabin.

"Let's do it. The faster we do that, the faster I can go back home and relax for the day. I don't need to be doing this shit during my days off." I told them. And that was that. Walking towards his little red car, I motioned for Celeste and Toko to follow me. I couldn't push this thing by myself!

"Ready?... Now!" I shouted at both of them to push this thing. It didn't take long after all, after only a few seconds, we started pushing, and pushing this thing until it started to roll on its own! It rolled towards the dock, faster and faster, until the sounds of tires on wood was heard through the air. In the next couple of seconds, we watched as the front end of his Miata tip over, and dive nose first into the water.

Splash! A loud sound of water splashing echoed out as we watched the car begin to sink into the cold water. It didn't take too long actually; it stayed afloat for ten, maybe twenty seconds before finally succumbing to the depths, and sinking below.

"Well... what now?" I heard Celeste ask me. It hadn't occurred to me right then, but I was just standing there, sort of getting lost in my thoughts. She was right. What did Kyoko want us to do next?

"I guess... go home? I mean, I just want all of this bull over. We cleaned his house, his car, him as far as we know." I told them. I didn't want them to know that I was getting a bit nervous from all this. But no way in the world were we gonna back down now. Something this serious? No way in hell could anybody know.

"Y-Yea... go home.. and get caught by cops and go to jail for the rest of our lives..." Toko mumbled underneath her breath.

"Shut the hell up Toko! Go the hell ho- no, come here. You're staying with me for a while." I watched Celeste walk over and grab Toko's arms with her hands.

"No! I'm fine! I'm going back home!"

"I wasn't asking whether you wanted to or not! I'm not gonna risk you blowing your freaking mouth cause you "feel bad"!" Celeste yelled at her. I could've stopped them, but then again I didn't want her to know that I was just exhausted from the whole thing.

"You guys do what you want. I'm going back home." I said aloud. I wasn't about to sit there and watch Celeste drag her home. I was tired; not from pushing the car of course. Either way, we had done everything Kyoko had told us to do. Well, besides from finding that boy. It's been days though, no way he'd be still alive.

"ITS HIM!"

I started to turn away, and walk back home, until I heard Toko screaming. What?! What did she mean?! Did she see him just now!? "What?! Him!? That guy?!" I turned around and ran back towards her. She was looking into the forest, just staring at the trees that loitered around. What was she talking about?! There was nothing in those woods!

"Shut the hell up! No one is in those woods! I didn't see a thing! No footsteps, rustling of leaves! You fucking crazy now too?! Stop talking!" I heard Celeste reprimand her while trying to drag her away. That was really odd. Why did she say that it was him? She didn't see anyone, maybe it was guilt? Could that have been it? Probably.

With that, I quietly waved them goodbye, before heading off towards home. It wasn't that long of a walk anyway, about ten minutes maybe? Either way, it was getting dark, and I really didn't wanna be out here longer than I should, so I started my trek back home.

Kyoko's P.O.V

"You're talking about the big guy in the red drawstring right? Well hell, give him a turkey then!"

I smiled lightly as the voice on my television continued to talk. Night time had finally fell, and I was done with my shift. It wasn't anything unusual, a normal twelve hour shift that went by quicker. With music of course. But I'm just rambling at this point.

Nothing like relaxing with your husband watching tv to calm you down! Geez. I was worrying about the kid situation the whole day after I left Aoi's store! It took all day, but I finally calmed down, and regained my composure through music. It took a while, but it worked.

"How was your day honey?" I heard my husband ask me as a commercial started to play. That's right, I hadn't exactly told him yet; I had come in only a few minutes earlier.

"The same as always. Boring, and slow. No crime ever happens around here these days. What about you dear?" I asked him as I stretched my arms upwards.

"I guess I'm in the same boat as you are. Well aside from the usual tire making. He told me, yawning a little bit. From here, I could sense he was a bit tired. He works all day and, very rarely, all night making tires. Not that this town has a need for tires, he makes good money in a factory.

"And Jerry? He's in bed right?" I asked him, somewhat hoping that he'd go to bed. It was nice to spend time with him of course, but I didn't want to keep him from his precious sleep. He deserves it!

"Of course dear of course. Listen, I know you just got back, but I think I'm going to go to bed. I have a long shift tomorrow, and I could use the sleep. Night."

I felt his lips lightly kiss my cheeks as I watched him get up. Good. It's nice to know that he wouldn't neglect his sleep.

"Night dear. I'll join you shortly. I'm gonna watch a bit of tv first." I softly told him as I watched him disappear from my sight. One more tv show couldn't hurt. Especially if it'd keep me from having to wake up for my boring shift tomorrow.

Ring ring!

The sounds of the tv were interrupted as the house phone started to go off. This was odd; who would call here at this time of night? For the love of god please don't tell me it was Junko and her drunk friends..

"Hello?" I said as I picked up the phone and held it to my ears.

"Uh hello, Kyoko is this you?" The soft voice of Aoi penetrated the silence that was on the other end. What in the world did she need?

"Yes, Aoi what's wrong? Are you ok?" I asked over the phone. I couldn't help, but feel my heartbeat begin to quicken. Was she in danger? What was happening?

"Uh yes.. Yes... ahh remember that boy we were talking about earlier?"

As soon as she said that, my heart began to race even faster. Oh no, oh no oh no! "Yes Aoi, I remember. What happened?"

"Ahh well... earlier just now. I had another cop come in earlier asking me about him. Said that no one had seen or heard from him in a while. And he didn't look like a cop from around here. He looked like he was from a few towns over.." Aoi told me. I could tell she was stuttering a bit. Nervousness must have been plaguing her voice. "Isn't that... the time that you told me that he had driven off somewhere to do something?"

"Fuck..." I mentally cursed as I rose off the couch, and headed towards the front door. Another cop? Another cop from another city?! What in the hell happened? "Yea yea Aoi, and what happened?"

"I-I don't know... I told them that I seen him one day, and then told them you said that he had just drove off somewhere, That's all I knew, and that's all I told them!" Aoi told me.

"Right right... did they say anything about me at all?" I asked her, my heartbeat rising ever so faster. No, that was impossible! They couldn't suspect me right? Oh fuck they were going to investigate me! Damnit damnit damnit!

"Yea... he said he'd send someone to ask you about what happened and his whereabouts. Listen, I think you should call him. I mean heck Kyoko, you may've been the last one to see her. I have his number if you like..." Aoi told me.

"No no.. I'll just meet with him in the morning. It's late right now." I told her, rubbing my forehead at the same time. Remain calm Kyoko, remain calm! "And hey, if you're still interested in hunting, we can do it tomorrow, I can teach you. It'll get our minds off this if you'd like." I tried to casually tell her despite the fact I was borderline freaking out mentally.

"Of course. Of course! That'll be fine. Night Kyoko." I heard Aoi tell me before hanging up. Oh damn, oh damn oh damnit!

"Honey? Who was that?" I heard my husband call from my bedroom.

"It was Aoi from the store, asking if she wanted to hunt tomorrow." I shouted back at him. What was I gonna do? Tell him the truth? Either way, I can't stay up thinking about this. I just needed to go to bed! Yea, I'll just go to bed, and forget about this for now. What's the worst that'll happen? A cop asks me what happens, and I'll just make up some bullshit about him driving off somewhere. Nothing is gonna happen!

"Relax.." I had to mentally tell myself as I began to make my way back to my husbands room. I'll just sleep! I'll be fine... I shook my head and sighed as I walked back into the dark bedroom, and shut the door behind me.

Junko's P.O.V

"Slow day?" I heard Celeste ask me as I sat down next to her outside. Yep. It was just another day out here with.. nothing to do. We sat down on a couch outside her trailer before I grabbed a bottle of Smirnoff from her tiny cooler. When I got here earlier, she told me that they had finally finished clearing up whatever was left of Naegi's stuff. Which was a huge relief to me.

"Yep. Another slow one. I actually closed up shop today. Had about three people stop by today. What a bore." I responded to her as I twisted the little cap off the bottle. I could use the liquor in all honesty. We had the occasional slow day, but it doesn't normally get this slow. Oh well, I get to hang out with the girls, so I'm not complaining too much.

"It's gone!"

I let out an exhausted sigh as I heard a familiar voice ring out in the air. That sounded like Sayaka. Why in the hell was she yelling?

"Oh look. Looks like walking wasn't enough for her." I heard Celeste giggle as we watched Sayaka quickly come into view. From here, she had a worried look on her face as she quickly, quickly made her way down the road, and towards the trailer Celeste and I were sitting in front of.

"It's gone! It's freaking gone!" Sayaka told us again as she finally started to slow down in front of us, I watched her bend down and catch her breath before Celeste started to say;

"Woah Sayaka what's got your panties in a bunch?" Celeste shook her head as she casually questioned her. Oh please, what was gone? Her hair bow? Yep. That must definitely be it.

"My camera! My camera is gone! Someone stole it!" She told us, clearly trying to struggle for air that was coming to her slowly.

"Maybe you accidentally stomped on it on the way here. I could hear you stomping from a mile away." Celeste said, starting to laugh. As well as I. Ok, that was kind of funny.

"Shut the hell up Celeste this is serious!" Sayaka said, finally getting back the air she needed. "It had... the tape in it." She told us. Putting my bottle back down, I cracked my hands, before asking;

"What are you talking about? What tape?"

"The tape. The fucking tape we used to record that boy from a few days back!" Sayaka said, looking at us both dead in the eyes. Ok, this clearly wasn't a joke. What tape could she possibly be talking about?! I watched Celeste's grin start to rapidly fade, before I followed up with a response of my own.

"The tape that Detective Kyoko smashed to bits right in front of us? That tape?" I asked her, my eyes narrowing at the sheer though of it being seen by anyone else.

"Oh goddamnit Junko! Kyoko didn't smash anything! I replaced the tape with a new one! Kyoko stomped on the one that didn't have anything on it!" Sayaka said, stomping her foot on the ground before turning away from us. No. No for the love of god she had BETTER be joking about this! No, this wasn't a fucking joke. This was NOTHING to joke about!

"..."

I could hear Celeste start to say something, but the only thing she could do was freeze in place. I was the complete opposite however; I instantly sprung up, before saying; "You kept that tape huh?" I asked her as I began to walk towards her. She heard me coming because I watched her turn back around and nod.

"You kept that freaking tape you stupid ass idiot?!" I shouted out loud before instantly rushing towards her and wrapping my white hand around her neck. I'll kill her! How in the fuck could anyone be so stupid as to keep that on them?! Was she freaking serious?!

"Ack! Stop stop! I'm sorry!" I heard Sayaka gasp through choked breaths as I continued squeezing my hands around her neck.

"Hey hey... Junko calm down!" I could barely hear Celeste call out to me from behind. I didn't care about her, or what dumbass words she had to say right now!

"You kept that fucking tape?! You kept it and it just got stolen?!" I shouted in Sayaka's face as she struggled to get away. No way in hell I'd let that happen though. "What in the hell is wrong with you?!" I screamed in her face. I bet a mess of red veins were forming on my forehead though.

"Junko stop! Stop calm down!" Immediately after that sentence, I could feel Celeste's hands on my shoulders struggling to pull me away from Sayaka. Goddamnit why?! This was such a major fuck up on her part!

"Junko back off!" Celeste said again, and after that, I could feel my body being pulled backwards. Damnit all to hell!

"Ack! Sorry.. sorry!" I could hear Sayaka crying out as I watched her tumble to the ground below her. Sorry? Sorry was gonna fix this?!

"Come on! We need to stick together on this one ok?! Bickering and killing each other won't look good for any of us!" I heard Celeste tell me, but honestly, it came out quiet as can be. I was seeing red. I was so angry. I needed to calm down for her sake at least.

"You're too stupid to know how stupid you are! You know that?! Fuck!" I quickly turned around and shouted at Sayaka. Goddamnit she deserved that much that's for sure. But just as Celeste tried to do. I turned away from both of them, and started to rub my forehead. Thank the lord I wasn't too drunk. I probably would've murdered her right then and there!

"Junko calm down. We'll get through this ok! We will get through this!" I heard Celeste say amidst the coughing and gagging coming from Sayaka.

"Fuck it. Fuck it, I'm going home. I'm going home!" I told both of them as I kicked the ground below me, and began to storm off. I couldn't look at them right now. I just couldn't. I was getting too angry. I might've gotten a migraine! I'll just go home, and relax. I need to think about this. I need to calm down.

And so I did. I walked back home. I couldn't think. I needed a night's sleep that's for sure. "Goddamnit Sayaka. Doing something stupid..." I mentally shouted as I neared my destination. Tommorow we'd definitely need to talk to the Detective about this. Like goddamnit this was so stupid.

"Wait... what in the hell was this?" I asked aloud as I came up to the steps of my own trailer. Sitting in front of the doorstep was... a shoe? Or more specifically, a sneaker? Huh? "A shoe?"

THUMP!

"Huh?!" I instantly gasped as I heard a loud knocking sound reverberate through the air. I waited, and waited for footsteps, more knocking, hell, ANYTHING that would symbolize that someone was there. I'd like to see someone try and sneak up on me!

"Show yourself damnit!" I shouted out loud and simply waited there. I had a gun in the back of my normal black shorts, just in case anything happened. I waited, and waited. Huh, it looked like nothing was there. Not that I'd be surprised. My voice probably scared them off. Now back to the real question.

"Where in the hell did this shoe come from?" I asked myself as I picked it up, and looked at it. From what I could see in this moonlight, it looked like it was red and white. Wait... I've seen this before.

"Oh no fucking way." I cursed out loud as I inspected the thing. That boy... That boy was wearing this exact same shoe when he arrived in town. I knew for a fact he did! Goddamnit what in the hell was this doing here?

"I swear to god. It was probably one of those girls doing this. Dammit now I'm even more angry." I shook my head before carrying the shoe inside with me. I swear to god if it was Celeste or Sayaka that dropped this off, they'd have a conversation with my fist! I quickly stepped inside my home, and slammed the door behind me shut.
