Authors note, sorry for the delay in updates, thank you for everyone who has taken time to review. Hopefully the next few chapters will be posted quicker as they are ready for editing. As ever, I own nothing. Hope you enjoy.
Pipers head swam as she lay down. Swam from the heady mix of alcohol and the sheer thrill she had felt in seeing Alex again. A smile formed on her lips as she tried to process all of the events of the latter part of the evening.
What were the chances of them being in the same bar?
How had Alex spotted her?
How long had she been watching her? After all she had seen Mendez try and make his move. 'I hadn't pegged him as your type', 'don't think I've not seen you checking me out' 'I'm flattered!', 'Don't think I've forgotten you owe me that drink' the words played round and round in Pipers mind. Was Piper Alex's type?
Although Piper had only had a couple casual relationships she knew flirting when she heard it, or she thought she did. A warm sensation spread up through Pipers body. But a nagging thought plagued her, as far as Piper was aware Alex had a girlfriend. A girlfriend she assumed wasn't out with Alex that evening, given how Alex had been when she came over and spoke to her at the bar.
She recalled the conversation Alex had had with her partner as they drove Piper to the station that fateful Sunday evening. Soon Piper succumbed to sleep, conflicting thoughts still whirring round her brain. She woke on Saturday morning with sunlight blazing through her blinds. Lifting her head off the pillow Piper was pleasantly surprised to find her head didn't hurt as much as anticipated given the amount of alcohol she had drunk the previous evening. Planning out her weekend Piper decided to make a start with the worst tasks first, so she began gathering up all of her dirty laundry to use the washing machines before the rest of the dorm descended on them. Piper began frisking her clothes to make sure there wasn't a stray $50 bill which had made its way into her pocket. As she checked the jeans she wore last night she retrieved a handful of quarters and then her fingers chanced upon something unexpected. As she pulled out the small folded piece of paper her eyes scanned the unfamiliar writing.
'Call me' followed by a mobile number and the single letter 'A'.
If Pipers head hadnt been in a spin due to an annoyingly emerging hangover it certainly was now. She involuntarily sat down on the edge of her bed.
How did she get the note in her pocket?
How had she got the paper and a pen to write it?
If she had a girlfriend why was she giving her number to Piper?
Does she still have a girlfriend?
A loud knocking on her door drew Piper back into reality. Stowing the precious note back in her pocket she opened the door to find a hungover Larry on the other side.
"Hey Piper, a few of us are heading out for brunch, try and ditch the hangovers you know, you fancy it?"
"sure, what time?"
Twenty minutes later Piper, Larry and Polly were heading out to the deli where they had agreed to meet the others. The next few hours were spent with all of the friends piecing together the night before. Polly seemed to have really hit it off with Pete. Larry had had a good time with the lads but his extremely sore head was testament to the fact he was bad at drinking games. Piper spoke of her incident with Mendez, much to the amusement of the others and lead to the creation of their new nickname for him of 'Pornstache'. Piper elected not to speak of her encounter with Alex, but smiled to herself when she thought of the piece of paper in her pocket.
AN 2 Ooooooo another short one I'm afraid, until next time ...
