Alex Cabot paced nervously in front of the payphone. I'm fifty miles away from my office, she told herself. How much damage could one phone call possibly do? It's our anniversary; she deserves to know that I still love her, that I still think about her.
She drew in a deep breath. No one else was on the street, let alone paying her any attention. No one here knows who you are. She cautiously picked up the receiver. The familiar sound of the dial tone calmed her nerves only for a second. Fear then took over. As she punched in the phone number she still knew by heart, her left hand instinctively went to her necklace.
"Hello?"
Hearing Olivia's familiar voice brought a smile to Alex's face. Her heartbeat still raced, but it was no longer due to fear. In that moment, her surroundings disappeared. Any potential consequences were unimportant. Hammond could scold her all he wanted. She was calling from a payphone fifty miles away from her office. No one would trace the call back to her.
"Hello?"
"It's me. I can't talk long, but I wanted to wish you a happy anniversary. I love you."

Olivia smiled as she hung up the phone. "Love you, too."
