Suddenly the Red Huntress showed up, and Danny watched the fight, which wasn't going to good for Valerie. Danny rolled his eyes and turned back around. His expression turned to shock and horror as Danny stared into the neon green eyes of an all too familiar white haired teen. 'No no no no no,' he thought as his faced paled.

"Yes yes yes yes yes," the ghost boy answered back.

Sam, noticing the horror and shock on Danny's face rushed over to him. Before she could reach him, she saw him getting dragged off as if by an invisible force. Her mouth dropped open as she thought a ghost was trying to take away her friend.

Sam pulled out a wrist ray from her pocket and aimed right in front of Danny. Her blow hit her target, but to her dismay, did not reveal him. Instead, it caused him to fall on top of Danny and knock him over. Suddenly an invisible ray shot and destroyed the wrist ray, but Sam's body was unharmed.

Sam looked over to see Danny standing back up and glaring at something in front of him. Instead of finding another weapon, Sam stayed where she was and watched Danny.

'What did you do that for?' thought Danny angrily.

"I'm sorry! She shot at me, and I can't let her hurt me or this change will be permanent!" the ghost boy said which earned him a questionable look from Danny. "What you did when you separated us. You made a bad choice Fenton! You have to keep protecting the town!"

'They hate me!' Danny thought.

"Not all of them. Your friends still stand by you. Look!" he said pointing at Sam.

Danny looked her way and saw a worried expression.

"And if you revealed yourself, more would be there to help you! The kids here want you back, as does Jazz. And look at Valerie. She can't always be the hero. Eventually she'll grow tired and weak, and you know that!" Phantom said growing quite disappointed that Danny wouldn't listen to him.

'Then why wasn't I ever weak or tired? Of that's right! I was!' Danny screamed thought at the ghost.

"But you could suffer more than her! She's human Fenton!"

'Yeah, and so am I! And it's staying that way!' Danny thought as he tried to walk away, but the ghost grabbed his arm.
"Fenton-"

'My name is Danny, ghost. Now leave me alone!'

"No! Actually, you know what?" the ghost boy growled angrily and raised his voice. "Fine, I'll leave you alone Danny, but listen to me. Your town needs you, they need us. But without you, I won't last much longer. I'm just a ghost!"

'Yes, and you will stay that way.' Danny replied.

The ghost boy looked away and sighed, then looked back at Danny. "I'm sorry Danny, but you leave me no choice."

With that, the ghost boy flew into Danny. He was now overshadowed. Which if you looked at it, he was overshadowed by himself.

'I hate you ghost!' Danny thought to the unwanted visitor.

'My name is Phantom. Not ghost. Now let's go help Val!'

With that, Danny ran towards the ghost and huntress. Danny hid somewhere safe and went ghost. When he saw what he was doing, he tried his best to stop it.

'We don't have time for this Danny! Val is growing weak.'

Seeing Phantom was right, Danny gave in and let himself be controlled by Phantom's instincts. In seconds, the ghost was in a Fenton Thermos and Phantom landed. So did the Huntress.

Sam, who had seen Phantom suddenly show up, raced to the place where he and Valerie were staring at each other.

"I thought you left for good ghost. I guess it seems Fenton is quite the liar," Valerie said.

Sam was about to stop in and go off on Valerie when she saw Phantom walk closer to Valerie.

"Fenton isn't a liar Val. I was gone for good. But then I got sent back by the ghost of time telling me to go back and join again with him," Phantom said slowly as if unsure of what to say.

Val's eyes widened as she realized 'him' as Fenton. "Stop overshadowing him ghost before I make you," she spat at him.

He laughed gently. "Don't have to tell me twice," He muttered as he flew out of Fenton and landed causing Fenton to fall down and breath hard.

Sam was angered that Danny was being overshadowed, but how was Phantom overshadowing him? She also realized then that Danny had been talking to Phantom. 'That's why he looked so shocked! He saw Phantom!' Sam thought.

The buzz of Valerie's gun charging up brought Sam back to her senses, but she didn't try to prevent it. Phantom deserved it. He had overshadowed Danny.

Phantom looked straight at the gun as he knew what was coming next. He figured he should just go ahead and let himself het demolished. Maybe it would teach Danny a lesson later on in life.

When the gun finished charging, Valerie stared at the ghost for a moment. "What? You aren't gonna try to fly away or fight?" she asked not really wanting to shoot him while he just stood there looking at the gun.

Phantom shook his head and looked at Danny who was still lying on the floor on his hands and knees. "Apparently I'm no longer wanted or needed here. Just go ahead and shoot Valerie. Finish me off. It'll be best for everyone," Phantom said looking down. His eyes were closed and his snow white hair hung in his unnaturally pale face.

Danny began to get up and he saw Valerie pull the trigger of the gun that faced Phantom. After what Phantom had said and showed him when he was overshadowed, he couldn't let Phantom get destroyed. He needed Phantom. The town needed Phantom. Phantom needed him. But it was too late to do anything. Unless…

Danny did the only thing he could think of. He jumped in front of Phantom. Phantom heard the ectoblast hit, but he knew it hadn't hit him. Then he heard two girls shout "Danny!" and a hand grab his wrist.

Suddenly he realized what had happened. Danny had jumped in front of him to save him. But now Danny was hurt and was about to be killed. Unless…Phantom knew what he had to do, but he has to act quickly while there was still ectoplasm in Danny's body.

Phantom flew into Danny, against both girls' angry protests, and hoped what he tried would work. Suddenly he felt himself merging with Danny with the help of the available ectoplasm.

Danny screamed as he got hit by the ectoblast, and even louder as him and Phantom merged back together. He opened his eyes and was suddenly faced with two angry girls. They allowed Danny to get up, but then Valerie had a gun against his head.

"Stop overshadowing Danny, you ghost!" She said as calm as she could while she was mad.

Danny completely ignored the fact that either girl was here as he ran across the cafeteria to a mirror. The white streak in his hair was gone! And the halfa was once again going to protect his town.

"You have ten second to leave Danny you ghost!" Valerie said as Sam grabbed Danny's wrists. This caught Danny off guard.

"Sam?" he asked confused. "What's wrong Sammy?"

Sam growled. "Do not call me that ghost!"

Suddenly Danny knew what was going on. "Sam it's me, Danny. The same old Danny."

"Except now you're overshadowed," she said flatly.

"Sam, Phantom tried to warn me. When he overshadowed me, I learned everything he knew. Including that he would be gone forever if Valerie hit him. I took the hit because I realized it would be the last chance we had to merge together. Apparently he realized that too. I need Phantom! I am one but two halfas on this Earth, and I was not about to let Valerie destroy half of myself!" Danny finished.

Valerie looked shocked as Danny said this. "You mean you're…Phantom?" she asked.

Danny laughed and said his famous catch phrase. "Goin' Ghost!"

Two blue-white rings formed around Danny's waist and split to travel up and down his body to reveal the familiar Danny Phantom staring at Valerie.

"Thank you Val," Phantom said before his ghost sense went off. He flew off a ways then turned towards the two girls. "Coming?" he asked them.

Sam laughed as she ran towards Danny who flew down and picked Sam up bridal style. Valerie smiled reluctantly under her helmet and caught up with Phantom. Surprisingly she was not the least bit angry about Fenton being Phantom. She was fine with it. Together the three friends went after the unidentified ghost.

True to her word, Jazz came home that day, and with the help of Valerie and Sam, Danny explained everything that had happened to Jazz and Tucker.

Of course, the town was weary about Danny Phantom coming back at first, but eventually they had all forgiven him. It also helped when they saw the Red huntress helping him. Of course, some still had their doubts about the ghost boy. After all, he was still the number one enemy.

Two such people were Maddie and Jack Fenton. After all, they would stop at nothing to capture the ghost boy.

As Danny flew by a window at Fenton Works, Maddie and Jack began to shoot at him. He laughed and avoided the attacks and watched Sam as she rode with Valerie so she wouldn't get hurt.

"We will catch you Phantom! And when we do, be prepared to be dissected molecule by molecule!" Maddie yelled.

"Good luck Maddie! And until then, see ya!" Phantom laughed as he raced down to pick up Sam bridal style and raced the Red Huntress to the next ghost attack.

'I should tell them, but I think that can wait for another time,' Danny thought as Fenton Works disappeared from sight.
