"Hermione, where is everyone?" Draco asked again.
"I-I don't know, but I can't think of that now." She said, frantically working her wand over every piece of Harry's body.
Draco opened his mouth to speak, but eventually closed it. Instead he took this time to take a look at her. She was a mess. Her hair was knotted together with blood, caused by an apparent cut on her skull. Her left eye was completely shut; bruised and swollen, from what draco could only guess must have been a punch. The other, although open, wasn't much use to her either. Not with the blood, coming from a large gash on her temple, pouring into it.
Harry himself, was worst off.
"Hermione you're not well. Take care of yourself, i'll look after Potter." Draco said, taking out his wand and moving toward Harry.
"No! Don't you dare touch him!"
Draco raised his hands in surrender, clearly shocked.
Without another word, she went back to healing Harry.
Draco conjured up four bottles of blood replenishing potion, leaving them next to Hermione. "Take two, give the other two to him when he wakes up. Both of you have lost a lot of blood."
Heading to the next room, Draco's head was racing. What was he to do next? Officially, he knew he should report back to Kingsley. The Prime Minister was most likely wondering why he didn't return with the other Aurors. He surely had new orders for him, to carry out.
Then there was a matter of why a whole house full of wizards and vampires was empty at almost three in the morning.
Unfortunately, he would have to leave Hermione alone if he wanted to find out either; and with the state that she's in he knew that couldn't happen.
"I'll just have to wait" Draco thought. Stepping out the backdoor, on to the the Cullen's back porch. Dropping to the floor and placing himself against the wall, He was exhausted. It was still dark outside, the sun still having an hour or two before it would grace the horizon. But Draco didn't mind he had always found comfort in the darkness of night. He didn't know why, but he always had.
Draco, he didn't when he fell asleep, jolted awake. Looking around everything looked normal but his body was coursing with adrenaline. Standing up Draco, slowly made his way off the porch and toward the trees that surrounded the mansion. With every step he took, he felt his body reacted negatively. He was halfway to the forest when he finally saw it, what his body was trying to get him to see this whole time.
In the thick of the forest stood a gigantic wolf. This beast was unlike any Draco had ever seen, this wolf was more of the size of a bear, fangs three times the normal size and beared at him. It all clicked for Draco, the presence of this-this thing had sent his magic into protect mode waking him up.
Four more of these wolves appeared behind the first one. Before there was time to think they charged him. With all that he had draco turned tail and ran back toward the house, firing spells as he retreated. He heard whimpers and roars behind him, but he couldn't tell if you managed to kill any of them. Luckily he managed to get through the door and lock it. Leaning his back against the door. There was no time to rest before a claw came crashing through the wooden door dangerously close to his head.
"Hermione!" Draco yelled, pushing away from the door and running to where she was.
"What?"
"We need to go now!" Draco said pulling her to her feet and picking up Harry as best he could. Dragging her toward the front door before she even had to say anything. Behind him he could hear the back door being broken down.
"What is going on? Harry isn't in any condition to be moved!"
"No time!" They were almost to the door, when it too was blasted open and in came another three wolves. Without missing a beat, Draco turned around looking for another way out but it was too late. Four more wolves were already behind them; two of them with nasty burn wounds in their leg.
They were trapped
With nowhere to go, draco dropped Harry and readied his wand.
The pack began circling them, bearing their teeth and snapping.
"Wait, put your wand down."
"Are you mad, Granger?"
"Now!" she yelled, stepping in front of him, forcefully lowering his wand.
"We mean you no harm." She was talking to the group of wolves.
She's mad!
And apparently the wolves thought so too because it only caused them to move closer.
"We know Bella!"
"Bella, em kinda short, very pale, bit depressing." Hermione said "We're family."
The wolves did slow a considerable amount.
"She told me all about you guys. You're not actually wolves, your shape shifters. You live down at the rez."
It was a lie, all of it, she could only hope that what Alice told her was enough to trick them in believing her.
"What is he?" Though none of the wolves opened their mouths, the voice was still loud and clear.
"Emm, he's a wizard. A person capable of using magic." There was no use in lying, she could see where Draco's spells must have hit them.
"And you?" The voice said again, as the wolves began moving closer again.
"Human, like Bella. Nothing magical about me."
The biggest wolf, the one they suspected of being the leader and the source of the voice, eyed her.
"Where are they?"
"Who?"
"The Vampires!" The alpha screamed "Don't you dare play dumb with me!"
"They're a way, out hunting." She really had no idea where they were. She was relying on the only small piece of information she had to further her story.
"Lies! We know the town's being attacked!"
"What!"
The rest of the wolves began to scream in protest.
"She's lying, she must be protecting them! The Cullen's must be the one behind it!"
"Wait no, we had no idea what-" it was to late the alpha had already lunged himself at her.
Draco tried readying his wand, but he was to late. The wolf's was already on top of her.
Hermione was knocked to the ground, pinned under the massive creature. His legs on her chest, making it hard to breathe.
Draco again tried to kill the beast, but he too was pounced on and pinned to the ground.
Struggle as he may, there was no hope. Trapped all we able to do was turn his head, and watch as the alpha fixed his jaws around her neck.
Both Draco and Hermione screamed and tried probably for the last time to free themselves.
Neither, being able to.
"Save her, you must save her!" Draco thought to himself "You owe her that much!"
Redirecting as much magic as he could to his limbs, he tried again to free him. This time he was able to at least left their legs a few inches off the ground but again failed.
"Time to die!"
There was a gust of wind and before he had a chance to close his jaws. The wolf was being held in the air by Emmett.
Hermione gasped for air.
"Woah there, doggie." Emmett said before tossing him across the room like it was a doll.
The rest of the Cullen's came pouring into the house, followed shortly after by the Wizards.
"Paul, what is the meaning of this!" Carlisle screamed.
"The town is being attacked!" The alpha, Paul, screamed.
"Bella needs to learn to keep her mouth shut." Rosalie spat "Now we have the mutts to deal with."
This brought about growls from the wolves.
"Yes the town was attacked, but not by us"
"By whom then?" Paul demanded, clearly not believing Carlisle.
"Wizards."
Every pair is wolf eyes landed right on Draco, who was still being pinned to the ground.
"Not him!" To his own surprise and everyone else's, Ron yelled. "It wasn't him, these were dark wizards."
"These are friends" Carlisle said introducing them "They too are wizards, good wizards, they helped protect the humans."
"Wizards? All of them?" Paul asked, his eyes shifting to the girl on the floor.
"Yes."
Paul stared, the group before him. They were outnumbered heavily.
"The people, are they okay?"
"Unfortunately, we weren't able to save everyone. There were three humans killed in the attack." Carlisle said, regret in his voice "A number of homes and stores were also set to fire."
The wolf's muscles tensed, but he again reminded himself that they were outnumbered.
"We have a lot to discuss Carlisle. You are to come down to La Push tomorrow evening, you may bring Edward if you wish." Paul said before turning and heading toward the back door. "There will be no need for any of you to come to La Push today. For any reason. As always Bella has our protection, if she wishes to leave she will be escorted to HER home. And if she wishes to stay a bed will of course be provided."
"Of Course, and thank you for looking after Bella." Carlisle replied politely.
The rest of the wolves followed their leader out of the home.
A moment passed before anyone spoke
"Who is this?" Nadia asked, motioning toward Harry's. Who surprisingly went completely unnoticed throughout that whole ordeal.
"Harry!" Hermione and the group of wizards rushing to his side.
Draco took this time to gather himself, before making his way over to Carlisle.
"I assume you the Coven leader."
"Yes."
"Were you able to capture or kill any of them?"
"Unfortunately no, none of us have any experience with dealing with your kind. We managed to hurt but not kill."
"Are you able to recall anything of importance about them? Anything at all?"
"Yes, they all were wearing dark clothing. Skull masks. All branded with a skull tattoo on their left arms."
"Figured as much." Draco said, running his hand through his hair.
He made his way to the group on wizards, tapping Neville on the shoulder signaling for him to follow Draco.
"What do you want, Malfoy?" Neville asked when they made their way out the back door.
"She's not well. No matter what she tells you, she's not well." Draco said looking him in the eyes "Do you understand me?"
It took a moment for Neville to whip the shock off of his face "Yeah, thanks for telling me."
He once again made his way over to the group, this time tapping Hermione on the shoulder.
"I'm taking him with me." It looked like she was about to protest so he quickly added " To St. Mungo's, he needs to be looked at by professionals."
"You're right." She sighed in defeat "I did everything I could but there's bound to still be something."
"You should come too." Draco surprised even himself. "I mean you badly hurt too, I felt it back there."
"Speaking of which, we should undo the bond now."
Placing her plan on his shoulder, he felt the similar pain than nothing. He assumed it was over.
"And sorry I won't be going with you. I mean I left for a reason. I'm not ready to go back yet, saving Harry was one thing but I can't go back to our world. Not yet."
"Fine."
Draco, with Harry on his back, walked outside where he disappeared.
