Flashback

Ellie sat alone on the gymnasium bleachers as she watched the other couples dance feeling rejected and sullen.

She had initially come as part of the live entertainment, but the song Paige was about to perform didn't need her or Hazel.

She couldn't help but feel more upset listening to Paige sing without her helping in any way. Ever since Paige had convinced Ellie to speak to the school counsellor about her cutting, Ellie had found herself falling for the queen bee despite knowing there was no chance of anything happening.

(Momma said there'd be girls like you. Tearing my heart in two, doing what you do, best. Taking me for a ride, telling me pretty little lies. But with you, I can't resist, no, no. Maybe momma doesn't always know best)

Ellie did a double take at the song, trying to process if she had just heard Paige right, did she really just say girl? After the song finally ended, Ellie saw Paige talking to Ashley before running out of the gym, Ellie thought maybe she'd follow, just to make sure Paige was okay.

Ellie turned the corner in the hall to see Paige sitting on a bench with Emma, she quickly hid behind the corner listening in on what they were saying, making sure her hands were covering her mouth to avoid notice.

"Those songs you wrote...they were about a girl weren't they?" Emma said gently.

"Yeah..." Paige said embarrassed, hoping Emma wouldn't realize it. Ellie didn't want to get her hopes up, but she could feel her heart racing and was glad she covered her mouth beforehand, but who was the girl Paige sang about?

"...she's pregnant." Paige said quietly.

Everything suddenly clicked in Ellie's mind. It all made sense now.

"...oh." Emma said softly.

In hindsight Ellie had seen the two spending a lot more time together, ever since word got out Emma was pregnant. She felt hurt at this new information. She continued to listen, it wasn't happening as Emma informed her she didn't return her feelings.

As Emma walked back to the gym, Ellie saw Paige sitting alone and still upset. This was maybe her only moment, Ellie thought.

"Paige?" Ellie said softly, trying to act casual but sensitive.

"What?" Paige asked tensely, turning her head at the sound of Ellie approaching. Paige was getting more annoyed at being bothered and turned her head downwards again.

"Do you want to dance?" Ellie asked simply.

"That actually sounds nice. Thanks for asking" Paige said, slowly cheering up. Maybe this night was not a total loss.

End of flashback

Ellie was snapped back to reality, she was sitting in the passenger seat of Paige's car.

"You've been quiet, everything okay?"

Paige asked somewhat worriedly, still sounding congested.

"Just thinking… about that night at the spring dance." Ellie said with a smile. As the car came to a stop in the school parking lot, Paige reached for Ellie's hand, interlocking fingers with her.

The girls made their way inside, Ellie headed to meet up with the other band mates while Paige went to find a seat in the crowd finding a seat with Emma, Manny, and Sean.

"I'm sorry you're still sick, Mia feels really bad about what happened." Emma told her still sounding guilty and cringing at the memory.

"It's okay I'll live. Actually I think this turned out better now we got Terri stepping in and she's still singing the song I wrote for Ellie." Paige said, trying to be more positive.

Oh, so you're writing songs about someone else now?" Emma asked jokingly.

"Hey now, don't be jealous, you're the only person I wrote a whole album about." Paige said, teasing back.

"You wrote a whole album about Emma?" Sean asked, confused. Emma wasn't sure how to explain the situation.

"Ummm yeah… Paige may have had a crush." Emma explained.

"But it was months ago and I am over it." Paige said hoping it didn't cause a problem. She had heard about Sean and Jay's comments about LGBT people.

"Oookay." Was all Sean said. It seemed he was going to leave it be.

The crowd went quiet as the first of the bands began playing. Paige tried to focus on the music.

After the first few bands played, Craig's band was up. "We all said we didn't care about winning, we just wanted to beat Craig's band." Paige whispered to Emma.

"I don't want to be vindictive, but after what he did to Manny I know what you mean." Emma whispered back.

Finally Paige's band was up, they took the stage beginning to play as Terri began singing.

(You know I want you. It's not a secret I try to hide. You know you want me. So don't keep saying our hands are tied. You claim it's not in the cards. And fate is pulling you miles away. And out of reach from me. But you're hearing my heart. So who can stop me if I decide it's on my destiny?)

Paige's face lit up as she watched her bandmates play. Paige had her eyes mostly focused on the red head playing.

Sean had been quiet most of the show since their conversation with Paige. Emma decided to finally confront him about it.

"Sean...are you mad?" She asked, a bit nervous. Sean turned to look at her.

"You remember our argument about the whole Jay situation?" Sean asked.

Emma nodded, confused and worried.

"Paige came over to my apartment afterwards and told me to get over it and not to be stupid about it." Sean explained.

"Oh?" Emma asked, Paige never told her that.

"As she left, Paige told me not to make her regret this. I didn't get what she meant but looking back now. We really owe a lot of this to her, don't we?" Sean said.

"Sean I promise it was just one sided." Emma said, trying to be assuring.

"I know, guess I can't blame her for crushing on you." Sean said, leaning in and kissing Emma. Emma reached out and held his hand.

Ashley and Paige wandered the halls looking for Terri after the show. They hadn't won but they placed better then Craig and his band which was their main goal.

"Terri said she's been thinking of returning to Degrassi." Paige said.

"I mean , yeah she transferred to get away from him, now that he's gone she will be safe from him forever." Ashley said. She hoped Rick had suffered to his last breath.

"If I hadn't stolen Spinner and tricked her into getting drunk, they probably would've dated and she never would've gotten involved with Rick. I'm a terrible friend." Paige said, becoming upset, thinking of what happened to her friend, the horrible memories of Terri hurt resurfacing.

"Rick had a lot of issues, he would've eventually snapped even if it was not at Terri. We should just be grateful he didn't go on a worse rampage" Ashley said.

As they turned a corner, they saw something that quickly caused them to take cover behind the corner again, Terri was sitting on a bench with Spinner, lips locked….

"We'll catch up with her later." Paige says as the two walked off giving the two of them some time alone.
