Merlin's world

Lying in his bed, Merlin tossed and turned, twitching before his eyes flew open and he sat up, breathing heavily. It took Merlin a moment to realize where he was.

It was in his old room in Camelot. Throwing the convers off, Merlin looked around, realizing it was exactly as he'd left it so many years ago. A suspicion forming, Merlin's eyes flashed gold and a mirror appeared in front of him, showing Merlin as he was when he had lived at Camelot.

Merlin frowned as he dispelled the mirror. So he was back at Camelot then.

"Merlin!"

Startled by the familiar voice, one he hadn't heard in so many years, Merlin looked at the door, swallowing the lump in his throat before stepping out.

Gaius was mixing some concoction when Merlin stepped into the room.

"Merlin, Arthur has summoned you to his chamber. It sounded urgent, according to the servant," Gaius said, eying Merlin when Merlin just stared at him. "Merlin? Are you alright?"

"Yes. Yes, I'm fine," Merlin said, snapping out of his gaze. "I will get dressed and head to the king's chambers."

Gaius nodded and Merlin let out a sigh of relief. So Arthur was still king then.

After getting dressed, his mind still racing, Merlin began his walk to Arthur's chambers. On the way, he stopped, pausing as he stared at Lancelot walking by.

"Morning Merlin. Arthur calling you already?" Lancelot asked with laugh.

Too stunned too speak, Merlin merely watched as his old friend continued on his way before continuing his walk. Passing a window, Merlin paused again, staring down at Leon and Elyan teaching a group of knights. As he neared the kitchen, a sense of déjà vu filled him as he saw a wire with a hook. Looking up, he saw Gwaine and Percival trying to catch some food.

They were back, they were all back, Merlin thought as he reached Arthur chambers. The door opened and Gwen made her way out, smiling as she saw him.

"Good morning Merlin," Gwen said as Merlin noticed she was dressed in the gown she had worn as queen.

"Gwen," Merlin said, smiling brightly as he felt tears begin to form in her eyes.

"Merlin, is everything alright?" Gwen asked, eying him in concern and Merlin almost laughed.

"Yes, I think it is," Merlin agreed with a smile.

Gwen eyed him concerned for a moment before she seemed to shrug it off and walked off, no doubt to do some queenly duty. Merlin stood there a moment, allowing himself to take it all in before he finally entered Arthur's chambers.

Arthur was there, sitting at his desk like he had been so many times before. But he was not alone. Standing a few away, dressed in one of her gowns she had worn before Morgause had taken her away, was Morgana.

As Merlin closed the door behind him, the siblings looked over at him. For a moment, it was silent.

"So, that really happened," Arthur noted after a few moments.

"It did. And everything's…exactly as it should be," Merlin noted with a smile.

"What do we do now?" Morgan asked after a moment.

"We have an opportunity, to correct all our mistakes. To make things as they should be," Merlin began and Arthur nodded.

"Merlin is right. And the first step is to stop persecution which makes allies into enemies. I'm going to be announcing today that I'm lifting the ban on magic," Arthur announced, to the pleasant surprise of Merlin and Morgana.

"You know the people and the lords won't accept this is easily, not after so many years of Uther's propaganda and attacks by people with magic," Morgana pointed out.

"You're right. That's why I need your help to show them that not all who practice magic are evil," Arthur said as he looked from Merlin to Morgana. "We have to build a better world than my father. And we have to do it together."

The Doctor and Jack's world

Jack looked around at his surroundings in utter bewilderment. He was back in his office at the Hub, which had been destroyed when the bomb had placed inside him by Agent Johnson. Except apparently not.

Hearing some noise outside his office, Jack walked out, stopping to stare at Ianto, Tosh and Owen at their desks, doing some work.

"Jack?" Tosh called out as they saw him staring at them.

"Are you alright?" Ianto asked in concern for his lover.

Jack didn't answer, too shocked to speak. Then he felt his phone vibrate. Pulling it out, he was even more stunned to see it was Alice calling him. He stared at it for a few rings before he managed to will himself to answer.

"A-Alice," Jack stammered, turning away from his curious co-workers.

"Dad, Steven wants to know if you're coming to his football game tomorrow," Alice said, becoming concerned when Jack didn't answer. "Dad?"

"Yeah, yeah I'll come," Jack said with a heavy breath, wiping the tears that fell from his eyes before smiling. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."

Angel and Willow's world

Angel looked around the familiar office, realizing he was back in the Hyperion Hotel. As he got out of his chair, the door opened and someone Angel never thought he would see again walked in.

"So Wes and Fred just called, they handled that ground demon. And Gunn is with his crew, so it's just us and Lorne for the night," Cordelia paused as she saw Angel staring at her. "What? Is something wrong with my hair?"

"You're here," Angel said breathlessly.

"Where else would I be?" Cordelia asked, looking at him in concern. "You okay champ?"

Cordelia was thrown for a loop when Angel strode over to her and pulled her into a kiss. Although surprised, Cordelia welcomed the kiss, returning it until she needed to pull back for air.

"Hey, what's going on?" Cordelia asked softly, seeing Angel look at her like he was afraid she'd disappear.

"It's a long story," Angel said with a tearful smile, not even sure where to start.

They heard an 'oof' from outside the office and Cordelia turned her head. Angel followed her gaze, surprised to see Lorne trying to help a dark haired toddler on his feet.

"Looks like someone's not quite ready to walk yet," Lorne said gently.

"Oh I don't know about that, he just needs some motivation," Cordelia said with a smile as she walked out, kneeling down and holding out her arms. "Come on Connor, come to Momma."

Angel watched, frozen, as Connor managed to pull himself up on shaky toddler legs, walking over to Cordelia, who picked him up.

"Good boy," Cordelia praised, kissing him lightly on the forehead as Connor smiled, pleased with himself.

Angel merely stared, a lump in his throat as he saw the woman he loved and his son, given the life they had been denied due to Sahjan and Holtz. It was everything he'd dreamed of for so long yet everything the universe had seen fit to deny him.

"You okay?" Cordelia repeated as she saw Angel looking like he was about to cry.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm perfect," Angel said with a watery smile.

In a different part of that world, Willow woke up in an unfamiliar bed, looking around in bewilderment. Looking over, she froze as she saw a familiar blond-brown head of hair next to her. As if sensing Willow's gaze, Tara turned over in bed, opening her eyes to see Willow's startled green orbs.

"Will? What's wrong?" Tara asked, seeing Willow's emotions in her aura and Willow found her voice.

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing," Willow said with a beaming smile, grabbing Tara and pulling her into a passionate kiss.

Scott's world

On a hill overlooking Beacon Hills, Scott sat on a log in front of a campfire, watching his pack. Standing by his jeep, Stiles and Lydia were talking about something no one else understood in their brainstorming/flirting way as Liam, Mason and Corey talked amongst themselves.

Someone sat down next to him and Scott looked over, unsurprised to see Derek.

"Everything's back to normal then," Scott noted.

"Maybe better. I talked to Lydia and Argent, neither have heard of Monroe," Derek said.

"So she's not massing up an army," Scott said in relief.

"Doesn't seem like it. But I think we better keep an eye on her to be safe," Derek noted and Scott nodded in agreement. "But for now, let's just enjoy the fact we don't have anyone trying to kill us for once."

Scott laughed as Derek got up and walked over to the fire, beginning to talk to Stiles and Lydia. Someone took Derek's place and Scott didn't need to turn to know it was Malia.

"That looked serious, what was that about?" Malia asked and Scott laughed.

"I'll tell you later. For now, let's just enjoy the night," Scott said as he reached over, taking her hand.

Logan's world

Logan walked around the Xavier Institute, finding everything exactly as it once was. He smiled as he watched Kitty teaching some students before a familiar scent hit him. Stunned, Logan whirled around, finding Magneto, the Magneto he had known and fought, standing a few feet away.

"Hello Logan," Magneto said and Logan saw from the look in his eyes that he remembered their recent experience in the other world.

"How…" Logan trialed off as Erik smiled.

"Oh, I emerged a few decades before you arrived here. Imagine my surprise to find myself an X-Men," Erik said with a laugh. "It's a new universe Logan. It's time to let go of the past and move towards a new future. A better future."

"Never thought I'd hear you say that," Logan noted and Erik smiled.

"Perhaps I'm finally earning from my past. Now, I believe you have a class to teach," Erik pointed out.

Logan laughed, never imagining he'd hear Magneto of all people say that before walking off.

Peter-2's world

Peter-2 was happy to be reunited with MJ again here, when he heard his phone ring, and saw that it was Harry Osborn on the call.

His hand shaking, he accepted the call.

"Peter?"

"Harry..." Peter-2 trailed off, his lip quivering as there was a lump in his throat now. "Harry..."

Peter-3's world

Peter-3 was at the Daily Bugle, and gave some photos to JJJ before going out, being paid by Betty as they shared a smile, and then he walked out of the building, seeing Gwen Stacy waiting for him.

He happily put his arms around her as they shared a loving kiss, and then both walked off, hand-in-hand.

Middle-Earth

Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli looked around as they appeared on a mountain side, wondering if that had all really happened.

"My friends," they looked up, stunned to see Boromir looking down at them curiously.

"Boromir," Aragorn breathed as they stared at their previously dead friend in a mix of shock and disbelief.

"Come. We still have a long way to go before we reach the Orcs that took Merry and Pippin," Boromir ordered, bewildered by their reactions to him.

The three exchanged a look before they began running after Boromir, knowing there was time to process the fact their friend had risen from the dead later.

Peter's world

In a cemetery, Peter laid some flowers on May's grave before standing up, looking down at the grave sadly. He was alone for a few moments before Strange walked up beside him, dressed in a suit.

"I'm sorry putting things back the way they were didn't bring her back," Strange apologized and Peter stared down at it for a moment.

"No one else who died over here got brought back either, did they?" Peter asked sadly and Strange shook his head.

"Consequences of the spell, any life lost while it was happening stayed dead, including your aunt, Wong and all the Sorcerer's killed by the Daleks. But at least you got what you wanted. No one knows you're Spider-Man," Strange noted and Peter smiled tightly.

"Yeah, including MJ and Ned. I went to them as Spider-Man a few days after everything happened; they had no idea who I was. And I went to them as me right after, they had no idea who Peter Parker was either. They never knew me in this new reality. At least not as anything more than a classmate," Peter said with a heavy sigh.

"I'm sorry kid," Strange said with remorse but Peter shook his head.

"It's okay. Well, not okay but…the Goblin said I was trying to have everything I want and he was right. I tried to make things right for everyone but I was also trying to have it all, no matter how much it hurt the people I love. I can't have it both ways; I can't be Spider-Man and have everything I want. So the best thing I can do is let live their lives," Peter said and it was quiet for a moment. "But it's okay. I'm starting at NYU next month; have to go to Orientation in a few days. I guess it could be worse, you know?"

"Not everyone would have that kind of selflessness and wisdom at your age. I certainly didn't," Strange and Peter smiled weakly.

"Thanks. What about Wanda, what happened to her?" Peter asked curiously.

"She insisted on being imprisoned. She doesn't trust herself right now," Strange explained.

"What happened wasn't her fault, she was being controlled by the Great Intelligence," Peter argued.

"I agree, but Wanda doesn't, she's torn up about everything, including Gandalf. Until she trusts herself, I'm keeping her at the Sanctum. I reached out to Barton, he's planning on paying her a visit in a few days," Strange said and there a pause. "I guess I'll see you around Spider-Man."

"I don't think so," Peter said, taking Strange back. "This whole time, I've been trying to prove myself as an Avenger or the next Iron Man. And where has that gotten me? From the moment Tony Stark stepped into my life, it's been one bad turn after another. So I think I'm done with the Avengers and the big fights. I'm just gonna stick to New York."

"I think that's smart," Strange said and Peter smiled tightly.

"Thanks Mr. Strange," Peter said.

"Call me Stephen," Strange said and Peter nodded.

"Stephen," Peter repeated.

Strange then watched silently as Peter walked off until Peter had vanished from view.

"So long kid," Strange muttered.

Manhattan, 1945, The Doctor's world

Night

At their home, Rory and Amy Williams were in their living room, Amy reading a book as Rory watched the news after putting their son to bed. They were startled when they heard a sound from the kitchen, followed by what sounded like someone opening the fridge.

Amy looked over at Rory, the look on his face saying he had heard it to. Amy slowly put down her book before opening a drawer on the cabinet next to her and pulling out a gun.

"Whoever you are, I'm armed and very cross!" Amy shouted as she and Rory began making their way towards the kitchen.

"When are you not, Pond?"

Amy nearly dropped the gun in her hand and she heard Rory take a deep breath as they heard the familiar voice they hadn't heard in almost seven years. The lights came on to reveal The Doctor before he closed the freezer.

"No Fish fingers or custard. I'm disappointed," The Doctor said distastefully before looking over at them, smiling happily. "Hello Ponds."

"Doctor," Amy breathed as she and Rory stared at him in disbelief.

"Would you mind putting that down? It's making it difficult to hug you," The Doctor noted with a smile.

Wordlessly, Amy put the gun on the kitchen table before wrapping her arms around The Doctor in a fierce hug.

"Hello Amy," The Doctor said with a smile as he returned the hug.

"We never thought we'd see you again," Rory said as he found his voice finally.

"Neither did I. But I couldn't leave things that way, this was the earliest I could come back to see you," The Doctor said as he and Amy released each other, The Doctor taking a moment to look at each of them. "You look good. Both of you."

"Living in the past isn't that bad. We've…made a life here," Amy said lamely and The Doctor smiled.

"I know. That's all I've ever wanted for the both of you. I didn't come here to take you away; I couldn't if I wanted to. Its fixed time now," The Doctor said.

"Then why did you come here?" Rory asked, knowing The Doctor never dropped by without a reason.

"To do the one thing I've never been very good at, the one thing I don't know how to do. I came…to say goodbye," The Doctor said with a sad smile.

"Doctor…" Amy trailed off as she and Rory looked at him in surprise.

"I don't know how to do it. How do I say it?" The Doctor asked as he looked at them helplessly.

For a long moment, it was completely silent, Amy not sure what to say. Then, Rory spoke.

"You say that I love you both, but that this will be the last time we'll see each other. I've treasured our time together and knowing you, but we have to live separate lives now. I will never forget you, and I'll always love you. I wish you the best in live, but it's time to let go now," Rory said, trying his best to keep his voice even and The Doctor smiled sadly at him.

"I love you both, but that this will be the last time we'll see each other. I've treasured our time together and knowing you, but we have to live separate lives now. I will never forget you, and I'll always love you. I wish you the best in live, but it's time to let go now," The Doctor repeated, looking on the verge of tears. "I've had many companions over the years, many friends…but letting go has never been this difficult before. I will miss you. Both of you."

For a moment, no more words were said as the three exchanged a tight hug, for several moments refusing to let each other go. And when they finally did, none of them were ashamed or surprised to see they all had tears in their eyes.

"Well, I must be off Ponds, or I fear I will never leave," The Doctor said, trying to sound cheerful even as he wiped his eyes. "Take care."

"Where are you going now?" Amy asked, unable to help the question and The Doctor smiled.

"To do something I should have done a very long time ago," The Doctor said, kissing them both on the forehead before heading to the door. "Goodbye, my Ponds."

Amy and Rory followed him out the door, seeing him head over to the TARIDS. He opened the doors, waving one last time before stepping inside. They watched silently, with tears running down their faces as the TARDIS vanished from view.

At the planet known only as The Library, The Doctor walked over to the datacore, going through profiles before finding what he was looking for. Smiling, The Doctor pointed his screwdriver at it, turning it on as his eyes glowed a fiery red. After a few moments, The Doctor stepped back as, in a flash of light; River Song appeared, looking around in bewilderment.

"Hello, sweetie," The Doctor quipped as River saw him.

"Doctor. How…" River said, not understanding what had just happened.

"It's a long story. Short version, sonic screwdriver, amplified with cosmic power, allowed me to rematerialize you in the flesh," The Doctor said with a twirl of his screwdriver.

"I don't understand," River said looking completely lost.

"It's a long story. We can talk about it over dinner, so where in the universe would you like to go?" The Doctor asked happily, holding out his arm to his wife after pocketing the screwdriver.

River merely laughed, taking The Doctor's arm as he led her back to the TARDIS, knowing her husband surely had a story behind this. She couldn't wait to hear it.

And that's all folks. Hope you all enjoyed the ending.

The scenes with Peter-2 and Peter-3 were taken from Aragorn II Elessar's 'Heroes from Infinite Earths'. Thank you to him for letting me use it.

Several deceased characters were resurrected in this new multiverse, which is sort of balanced out by the fact that May and everyone else who died on the MCU world remained dead. If, in the new multiverse they had all risen from the dead, there's no consequence to this adventure.

Regarding MJ and Ned not knowing Peter in this new world, well, that's Peter's consequence. The entire reason this happened was because he was trying to have it all without sacrificing anything, so now he actually has to make that sacrifice by allowing MJ and Ned to live their lives without him while he goes off to continue being Spider-Man.

Was originally going to end the story with The Doctor going off to have adventures again after saying is goodbye to Amy and Rory, but then I thought why not resurrect River. Because it still makes no sense to me that after getting a new Regeneration Cycle that The Doctor doesn't go the Library to give at least some to River. But I've long since given up hope that River would get justice in canon, as all the showrunners seem to either be Clara simps or just dislike River for whatever reason.

Until next time everyone.
