{Blackbeat- Idfc} (TW: Underage kind of but nothing too nasty)
Her breathing had slowed to a steady and slow rhythm from across the room. Edgar fiddled with his fingers as he watched her sleep in the chair on the other side of the townie hangout. He knew that she had feelings for him, and he wanted to reciprocate. Badly. But she was only sixteen and he was twenty-two. He hadn't gotten past the ninth grade, but he knew that that equation came out to be illegal.
Zoe was unlike anything else he'd ever seen. She swore like a sailor and carried herself like she wasn't afraid of a damned thing in the world. That, he liked. But it was the fact that underneath it all, she did kind of care sometimes. Whether she cast a sad look at roadkill or winced at the screaming in the apartments in Greaser territory, those little moments of weakness and care just made her something completely different.
Back to reality, she made a tiny noise and shifted in the chair, still fast asleep. She muttered something inaudible and Edgar's heart skipped a beat. She was so cute and vulnerable when she was asleep. It was like he had no control over his legs as they stood him up and moved him over to stand in front of where she slept. He reached down with a shaking hand and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She stirred slightly at the feeling of fingertips brushing over her skin but didn't wake. She couldn't. Not yet. Not while he was still dreaming.
He let his fingertips caress the soft skin of her cheeks and trail down to rub a thumb against her lips. He wondered what it'd feel like to kiss them late Sunday mornings as soon as they'd gotten up. He realized how disturbing he was being and jerked his hand back. This wasn't like him. He led the toughest gang in all of Bullworth, and here he was getting jumpy and quaking in his worn out boots over some girl that still lived with her parents and could re-enroll in Bullworth Academy and finish within a year.
He sighed and rubbed his face, filled with stress. He turned on his heel and quickly gathered his things and left for a meeting with one of his dealers. He couldn't stand to be in the same room as that girl.
