A/N: Guest- Just a copy and paste of a movie

Meh, I can't deny that. I'm basically pulling a Kingdom Hearts. But, then again, Disney did it when they adapted the ACTUAL Hunchback of Notre Dame, just putting their own spin on it. Why fix a formula that isn't broken?

Ténèbres reached the top walkway and saw his friends waiting for him. They all cheered and applauded him.

"You got rid of that tin can easily," Nevermore went.

"The nerve of him," Beowolf began. "Snooping around here trying to steal your girl!"

"My girl," Ténèbres asked.

"Esmeralda? Dark hair? Black wings," Beringel went.

"Or are you more into that cute Anita girl," Beowolf asked.

"Did the raven snatch your heart or did the thief steal it," Nevermore asked.

"Oh, no. No, no, no."

"Oh, don't be so modest," Beringel said.

"Look, I appreciate what you're all trying to do, but let's not kid ourselves. Ugliest face in Minuit, remember? Probably in all of Remnant."

"Not according to that Anita," Nevermore said.

"And she's been all over the world," Beowolf said. "Though, she seems to be a bit of a daddy's girl."

"Who is her father anyway," Nevermore asked.

"I... don't know. She never mentioned it. Esmeralda seemed to know, though," Ténèbres said. "Still, I don't think I'm her type," he said as he walked toward a railing, looking over the night-covered city. "Or Esmeralda's. But... so many times out there, I've watched a happy pair of lovers walking in the night. They had a kind of glow around them. It almost looked like heaven's light. I knew I'd never know that warm and loving glow, though I might wish with all my might. No face as hideous as my face was ever meant for heaven's light," he said as he held up his own carving.

"But suddenly two angels have smiled at me," he said as he began carving two new models. "And kissed my cheek without a trace of fright. I dare to dream that they may even care for me, and as I ring these bells tonight, my cold dark tower seems so bright," he said as he placed the models of a dancing Esmeralda and a heroic-looking Anita as she held her staff next to his model. He then ran up to a bell rope. "I swear it must be heaven's light," he said as he rang the bells.

As the bells rang, Anita and Esmeralda ran down the streets until Anita stopped.

Esmeralda noticed this. "Anni," she asked as she looked back at her friend. She walked up to her, seeing Anita stare at something. She followed her gaze to see the Palace of Justice. Esmeralda's eyes widened as she grabbed Anita's hand. "Anni, no. Your Aura isn't even recharged yet, is it?"

Anita giggled. "You make it sound like I can only be a thief with my Semblance."

"Anni."

"I'll be fine, Emmy. Just get back to the Court. I'll meet you there. I promise," she said as she placed a reassuring hand over Esmeralda's.

Esmeralda looked down at the hand over hers before sighing. "How do I know you'll keep it?"

Anita kissed Esmeralda's cheek, surprising the beauty. "Take that as proof. I don't like being in debt, but I like people being indebted to me even less. I expect to be paid back for that," Anita said with a wink before running off.

Esmeralda placed a hand on the place where Anita kissed her, watching her vanish into the shadows of the Palace. Esmeralda smiled. "I'll get you back for that, thief." She then ran off in the direction of the Court of Miracles.

Anita easily climbed outside of the Palace of Justice, finding more than enough footholds and grabbable areas. She reached a part of the Palace she would need to shimmy across, doing so carefully until she stopped when she saw light. She stopped and listened, hearing footsteps.

"My great god, Lord Darkness, you know I am a righteous man. Of my virtue, I am justly proud," Fue prayed aloud. "Oh, blessed Lord Darkness, you know I'm so much purer than the common vulgar weak licentious crowd! Then tell me, Lord Darkness, why I see her dancing there?! Why her smoldering eyes still scorch my soul?! I feel her! I see her! The sun caught in her raven hair is blazing in me out of all control!"

Anita saw Fue step away from his fireplace, the man obviously hallucinating. "Like fire! Hellfire! This fire in my skin! This burning desire is turning me to sin." Fue then visualized rows of beings in black cloaks, red eyes glowing within, illuminating bone-white masks. "It's not my fault! I'm not to blame! It is the Faunus girl, the beast who sent this flame! It's not my fault! Lord, it's your plan! You made your Spirits so much stronger than a man! Protect me, Grand Darkness! Don't let this siren cast her spell! Don't let her fire seer my flesh and bone! Destroy Esmeralda, and let her taste your blessed flames, or else let her be mine or mine alone!"

Knocks were heard.

"Councilman Fue, the Faunus and thief have escaped."

"What?"

"They are nowhere in the cathedral. They are both gone."

"But how?! I... The thief. That accursed... damned... beautiful! . . . Never mind. Get out, you idiot! I'll find them. I'll find them if I have to burn down all of Minuit! Hellfire! Dark fire! Now Faunus, it's your turn! Choose me or your pyre! Be mine or you will burn," he went as he threw Esmeralda's scarf into the fire.

"God have mercy on her," he said with melancholy. "God have mercy on me. But she will be mine or she will burn!" Fue then fell onto the ground, looking unconscious.

Anita looked down at him, disturbed... but contemplating.

'It would be so easy. He's alone. Unconscious. His Aura might be down. Just one stab and I can,' she thought. She stared at the vile man before looking up towards a higher window. 'No. I'm not an assassin. Besides, if his Aura isn't down, he would just call for help. That's the last thing I need.' Anita then climbed higher.

When she reached the next window, she saw an office... with a giant painting of Fue on a wall. 'Bingo.'

Anita then noticed a camera. She readied one of the hacking chips she always kept with her. When she saw the lock, she was glad to see it was just a simple keyhole, the beauty easily picking it. As soon as she opened the window, she flung the chip at the camera.

The guard watching the monitors blinked. At that moment, the camera in Fue's room blanked out at the exact time the man blinked, meaning he literally didn't see a thing wrong.

Anita took out some Earth Dust, no bigger than pebbles, crushed them, and blew the powder into the room. "No laser security. Thanks for making it easy for me, Fue. If only you had just left the window open for a lady," she said as she entered.

She then looked around. It was a fancy, well-organized, and expensive-looking office. Fue's desk alone looked worth stealing. But the real treasure was the wall full of records and documents.

"Let the treasure hunt begin," Anita said with a smirk.

Anita was looking through the files on the bookcase. She hated to admit it, but Fue was a good councilman. He made plenty of good laws that improved life in Minuit. However, most of those laws helped improve Upper Minuit. Lower was governed well, but nowhere near as well as Upper.

She hated the laws he approved of because they were perfect loopholes. Loopholes that screwed over lower-class citizens, especially Faunus. But they were perfectly legal. Anita knew some pretty sleazy lawyers and former councilmen. It's thanks to learning from them that she knew that Fue's legal grasp on Minuit was ironclad. It was no wonder that he was able to ban her father, Remnant's greatest hero, from Minuit.

Still, she couldn't use anything against Fue.

"DAMMIT," she yelled as she slammed the book back into the bookcase. "There has to be something in here I can use," she grumbled as she sat at Fue's desk, spinning around his chair.

"Hm?" She looked down when her boot hit Fue's desk. That's when she realized the desk had compartments of its own. Also with simple locks. She then grinned like a sneaky little kitty.

After picking the locks, she found... "Huh. Who knew he was a boozehound? This is a pretty good year, too. Could sell for quite a bit. Hmm, quarter full. He drank too much of it. Not worth much anymore and it would be too risky to take," she said before placing it back into the drawer.

That's when her ear caught something.

She used the bottle to tap the bottom of the drawer. "A secret cover."

She removed the cover to find a journal, her smile returning. She took out the book and opened it, skimming through the pages. "He's been a councilman longer than I've been alive. I don't think even my parents were born when he started his career."

Anita turned a few more pages until a date caught her eye. "Sixteen years ago, huh? He must have been pretty pissed on that day. Look at this writing."

'𝒰𝒩𝐵𝐸𝐿𝐼𝐸𝒱𝒜𝐵𝐿𝐸! 𝒯𝑜 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝓀 𝐼 𝒶𝓂 𝓉𝑜 𝒷𝑒 𝓈𝑒𝓉𝓉𝓁𝑒𝒹 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝒸𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓉𝓊𝓇𝑒! 𝒦𝒾𝓁𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒾𝓉𝓈 𝓂𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇 𝓂𝒶𝓎 𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎 𝓌𝑒𝓁𝓁 𝒷𝑒 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝑜𝒻 𝓂𝓎 𝑔𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓉𝑒𝓈𝓉 𝓂𝒾𝓈𝓉𝒶𝓀𝑒𝓈. 𝒮𝓉𝒾𝓁𝓁, 𝐼'𝓂 𝓈𝓊𝓇𝑒 𝒾𝓉 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁 𝒷𝑒 𝑜𝒻 𝓈𝑜𝓂𝑒 𝓊𝓈𝑒. "Church," Anita wondered. "Wait, he couldn't mean... I... I never asked Ténèbres his age. How old is he? Could this really be about him?" Anita then took out her scroll and took a picture of the page.

She then turned more pages until she found something written dating five years ago. "That should be around the time Minuit was almost destroyed by Acrideaths. Around the time Father had to save this city." She seemed through the pages. "Here."

Anita gripped the journal so tightly that she nearly tore it in half. "You son of a bitch. You were prepared to allow Lower Minuit to die. You're actually angry my father SAVED the city." She then took a picture of the page.

She took a deep breath to calm herself for the next passage.

Anita slammed the book onto the desk, furious. "Damn you! All this time, the entire fortunes Father has sent to this city to help Lower Minuit, you've been POCKETING it! I may be a thief, but at least I'm honest about it. Besides, I'm a Master Thief, meaning I only rob other thieves... making you fair game Fue de L'enfer," she said as she gladly took a picture of the page.

After Anita took a picture of the page that might destroy Fue's career, she heard footsteps. She immediately hid the journal back where she found it, not knowing what the next passage would have held.

Anita then exited the room and hid beneath a balcony just as Fue entered his office, seeing nothing out of the ordinary. Just in case, Anita took out her scroll and typed in a code, the chip she threw onto the camera gave a loud pop. The code Anita put in was a self-destruct code for any of her activated gadgets within a ten-meter radius of her.

"What in the name of God?!"

When Anita heard that, she climbed down from the Palace of Justice and ran away.

It didn't take her long to reach the secret passage to the Court of Miracles. She was more than stealthy and careful enough to make sure no one spotted her. Lifting the stone crypt's cover and putting it back was also easy for her, given her natural Arc strength. This time, she didn't mind walking through the muk. After all, she knocked out a guard about three times her size with a well-placed pressure point strike and stole his boots.

As she walked, she remembered what Esmeralda did last time. She searched for the spot and saw a single empty point in the wall of skeletons and knocked a certain rhythm on it. She hoped it worked.

She continued to walk through the catacombs before reaching the dry walkway. When she did, torches lit up, Faunus surrounding her, but none attacking. Then, Clopin stepped out. "Well, well, well, you knew our code but you don't look familiar at all. Who are you, my dear?"

Anita gasped. "Clopin! You wound me. Can you only recognize me with silver hair and hooves?"

Clopin's eyes widened. "Anita," he laughed out.

"And I thought you were attracted to me. How hurtful that you only see a certain part of me. Sob, sob, sob."

Clopin laughed. "My, word, it IS you! So you ARE human!"

"You thought I was a Faunus the entire time," she giggled.

"I had hoped. Of course, I could smell the human on you, but a man can dream," he said as he led Anita into the court. "I must say, you're still lovely, even as a human."

"Why, thank you."

"If I'm being honest, I thought you were left behind when Esmeralda arrived without you."

"And I don't blame you for thinking that. Where is she, anyway?"

"Look above you."

Anita looked up to see Esmeralda fly down towards her. The beautiful Raven Faunus landed in front of the beautiful thief with a smile.

"Hello, Emmy. Rather dramatic entrance, wouldn't you agree?"

"I'm a performer, Anni. Now then, I believe I now have a debt to pay?"

"Oh, I suppose you do," Anita said as she turned her cheek. "Take as long as you'd like, sweetheart," she said with a smile as she closed her eyes.

Esmeralda then gently grabbed Anita's chin, turned her head forward, then kissed Anita on the lips, the beauty's eyes widening with a surprised gasp.

Their lips parted, Esmeralda licking hers. "There. A surprise kiss paid back with interest."

Anita blinked before licking her lips. "Oh, you're sneaky."

"Says the Master Thief," Esmeralda said as she began to walk away.

"A Master Thief with valuable information on Fue."

Esmeralda stopped before turning back to look at her friend. "What?"

Anita then held up her scroll.

Later, in Clopin's personal tent, some Faunus were walking by before they stopped in surprise at Esmeralda's cry of anger.

An ax was then lodged onto a dartboard with Fue's picture on it.

"UNBELIEVABLE," Esmeralda yelled as she stomped around the tent.

"All these years," Clopin began with his hand rushing through his black hair past his horns. "The Vale Knight has been sending entire fortunes to Minuit in order to help us."

"AND IT'S BEEN GOING TO THOSE BASTARDS IN UPPER MINUIT! FUE HAS BEEN STEALING FROM THE VALE KNIGHT! FROM US! DAMMIT!"

"The only good news I can think of is that my father stopped sending money to Minuit years ago," Anita said.

"Your father," Clopin asked.

"She's Jaune Arc's illegitimate daughter," Esmeralda said as she sat down, hand rubbing her forehead.

Clopin's jaw dropped as he stared at Anita.

"Oh, right. Emmy was the only one I told. Well, surprise," she shrugged.

"Y-You're the daughter of the Vale Knight? The Hero of Remnant?! Well, I suppose that explains the gold hair."

"How," Anita asked with a raised eyebrow.

"That's not important, Anni. What is important is how we make Fue pay."

"That won't be easy, Emmy."

"YOU HAVE PROOF OF HIS WRONG-DOINGS!"

"And you think Upper Minuit will care?"

Esmeralda's eyes widened before she growled and slammed a fist on the table near her. "DAMMIT!"

"I have plenty of proof to have another kingdom investigate Minuit. A bigger one, obviously."

Esmeralda looked up. "Vale."

"Yes. It's risky, but if I can get to Glynda Goodwitch, without being caught, of course, I can leave the evidence to her and have her decimate Fue and his precious Minuit."

"Can you get out of Minuit alone," Clopin asked. "Since Fue knows both you and Esmeralda escaped, he's bound to have increased security all throughout the kingdom. I doubt even the outskirts will be safe."

"I'll find a way. Trust me. Master Thief, love." Anita sighed. "I just hope nothing else happens anytime soon."
