Ch 10 More New Life
"It is a good ting dat I am here!" Rafiki cried out as he ran to Kiara's side. The rest of the group stepped to the side to give the old mandrill some space. After examining Kiara Rafiki said, "Ah yes de cub should be here vedy soon."
"Kiara why didn't you say anything before?" Nuka asked.
"I didn't want to interfere with Kopa and Jasiri's ceremony," Kiara said, panting as the sweat poured down her face. "And I thought it was just a false alarrrrm oh Great Kings Above that hurts!" Kiara grunted as another labor pain ripped through her.
"I need you to push fer me Kiara," Rafiki said. With that Kiara took a deep breath and pushed as hard as she could. "Ah yes I can see de cub's head!" Rafiki cried out. "Keep pushing Kiara!"
"You're doing so good Ki'," Nuka whispered as he licked Kiara's head. "You can do this."
"Ugh this is so hard!" Kiara grunted as she began to push again. "Oh ahhh! Get this damn thing out of me Rafiki!" With that Kiara gave one more big push, followed by another loud scream. A dark tan cub came sliding out and into Rafiki's hands.
"Ah yes vedy good de cub is here!" Rafiki said with a laugh. "You have a daughter!" With that Rafiki placed the cub in Kiara's paws and Kiara cleaned her daughter off.
"Oh Kiara she's beautiful," Nuka whispered, smiling down a his daughter. "Hello there I'm your Daddy."
"And I'm your Mommy," Kiara said, her voice shaking with emotions. "And I love you so much my little Mflame."
"Mflame?" Kopa said, wrinkling his brow. "But that means Princess doesn't it?"
"Kiara and I decided that we were going to name cub Mflame if it was a girl and Mkuu if it was a boy," Nuka informed the group.
"I might have to teal the name Mkuu if my cub's a boy," Vitani said with a laugh. Vitani had found out she was pregnant a few days ago.
"Well I think Mflame is a perfect name for my beautiful granddaughter," Simba said, giving the newborn Princess a lick.
"I agree," Zira said as she gently nuzzled her grandcub.
"She sure is cute," Kopa said, smiling down at the cub who opened her eyes and looked up at her uncle with wide ruby red eyes. "Hello there Mflame," Kopa whispered. "I'm your Uncle Kopa." Mflame sniffed the air for a minute before snuggling into Kiara's fur to nurse.
"Tomorrow we'll have a proper presentation for Mflame," Simba declared.
"No," Kiara said. "I don't want Kinte's first time out of the cave overshadowed."
"Yeah Dad he's been looking forward to this for weeks," Nuka said. "Can't we postpone the ceremony for a couple of days?"
"Of course we can," Simba said with a smile. "In one week's time we'll have Mflame's presentation. That way Kinte will be able to enjoy his first time out of the cave." The group nodded in agreement and spent the rest of the day admiring the newborn Princess.

The next day Kinte was preparing for his first time out of the cave. Kijana's girls: Mwali and Changa, who were now four months old would be accompanying the two month old cub on his adventure. "Now remember son you are not to go anywhere near the river," Kovu was saying as he walked out the cave with his son.
"Yes Dad," Kinte said with a smile.
"And you're not to go near the gorge either alright?" Safara asked.
"I won't Mom," Kinte said, smiling at his mother. "I promise." Safara smiled and nuzzled her son. Just then Asha came onto the scene followed by Fauti.
"Are we ready to go?" Fauti asked with a smile.
"Ah man Grandma we don't need a babysitter," Mwali groaned, rolling her blue eyes.
"You most certainly do young jackal," Fauti said, giving her granddaughter a look. "You and Changa are only four months old and its Kinte's first time out of the cave. Anything could happen."
"We just want to make sure everyone stays safe," Asha said gently. "Alright?"
"Ok," Mwali said, clearly unhappy about the situation.
"C'mon lets go already!" Kinte cried out, the impatience showing.
"Hold on you're not going anywhere," Safara said. "Not until I get my nuzzle." With that Safara bent down and gave her boy a loving nuzzle. "I love you my sweet little Kinte," Safara said, giving Kinte a lick.
"I love you too Mom," Kinte said with a smile. Then he ran over to Kovu and latched onto Kovu's front leg. "Love you Dad," he said, nuzzling Kovu.
"I love you too son," Kovu said, bending down and licking Kinte's head. "Have fun and be safe."
"I will Dad!" Kinte cried out as he ran down the side of Pride Rock with Mwali, Changa, Fauti and Asha right behind him.
"I hope he'll be alright," Safara said with a sigh.
"He'll be just fine," Kovu said, nuzzling his mate. "My mother and Fauti won't let anything happen to him."
"I know they won't," Safara said with another sigh. "I still can't help but worry about him." Just then Kopa and Jasiri exited the cave, smiles on both of their faces.
"Hey guys," Kovu said with a smile. "You two seam really happy today."
"We are very happy," Kopa said, looking at Jasiri the smile still on his face.
"I bet I know why," Kovu said with a laugh. Kopa and Jasiri looked at Kovu with confusion. "I bet you two are going to have a cub," Kovu said. "Am I right?"
"No Kovu you're not right," Kopa said with a growl. "I don't understand why you all can't get it through your thick heads that I don't want cubs. Not now. Not ever."
"Sheesh Kopa I'm sorry," Kovu said.
"You should be," Kopa hissed. But then he quickly shook his head and said in a much calmer voice. "I'm not going to argue with you Kovu. Not today. This is supposed to be a happy day for you and your family. So I'm just going to walk away." Without waiting for a response Kopa turned and walked away.
"I'm sorry about him," Jasiri said. "I've been trying to talk to him about us having cubs but every time I do he gets angry."
"He'll come around," Safara said, nuzzling Jasiri.
"I don't think he will," Jasiri said sadly. "But as much as I want cubs I don't want to lose Kopa either. So if that means that I'll never be a mother then so be it."
"How about a distraction?" Safara asked. "How about we take a walk? I know I could use the distraction myself."
"Sure," Jasiri said with a smile "Sounds great."
"You ladies have fun," Kovu said with a smile of his own. "I'm going to find my Nuka and Simba and do some patrolling." With that the trio went their separate ways.

Meanwhile Kinte was having a blast exploring all the new things in the Pride Lands. "This is great!" the tan coated cub laughed as he pounced after a lizard.
"You know what would be even cooler?" Mwali asked, looking over at Asha and Fauti, who were off to the side talking. "If we didn't have the adults around."
"Hey yeah," Changa said with a giggle. "We should totally ditch the grownups."
"I don't know guys," Kinte said, darting his green eyes towards Asha and Fauti, who were still talking.
"Ah c'mon Kinte don't be such a baby," Mwali teased.
"I'm not a baby!" Kinte cried out.
"Then c'mon with us," Changa said. "Prove you're not a baby."
"Alright I will," Kinte cried out. "Lets go!" With that the three youngster began to walk away but they didn't get very far before someone jumped in front of them.
"You're not going anywhere," the figured growled, causing the cubs to gasp in fear.
