Chapter 1

Hereford Base, England, Team Rainbow Headquarters, August 13th

It's been around a week since the operation in Pakistan and Rainbow's encounter with Black Tusk. With chemical weapons in the wind and potentially on US soil, Rainbow was working hand in hand with Fourth Echelon to find the weapons before real damage can happen.

Logan Keller had just finished his workout when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He looked over and saw the Deputy Director or Rainbow Five, Bishop.

"What are you doing here Sir?"

"I thought I'd get a late night workout in.

He was going to continue speaking but his pager went off. Looks like duty calls.

"I'll see you soon enough anyway. I'm going to watch the news." Keller switched the channel to World News Media."

Bishop walked into Director Lars Gummessons' Office. He looked stressed and had a look of worry over him.

"What's wrong?"

"We still don't know where the chemical weapons are. It appears that the LMB and TS domestic extremist groups have gone underground."

Bishop responded "The FBI's counterterrorism doesn't have anything?"

"Nothing actionable. Fourth Echelon is busy taking the fight to Black Tusk along with the Group for Specialized Tactics."

"I guess it's time to prove that we can still be effective after the Nighthaven situation."

As they were discussing the lack of intelligence regarding the chemical weapons. The office intercom went off with the familiar voice of Sharon Judd.

"Director, turn on the television to WNM. There's a situation in the United States."

He proceeded to turn on the television and saw a bald news anchor speaking "As of 5 minutes ago, we have unconfirmed explosions in Washington DC, Los Angeles, and New York."

Lars slammed his hand on the desk "Damnit! How did we miss this!"

"Our enemies are getting smarter."

"I'm putting team Rainbow on high alert immediately. What squad leaders do we have available?"

"I just saw Keller in the workout room and I passed Thermite on the way to your office."

"Get them to the briefing room ASAP. We need to get a handle on this before it gets worse. Get the CBRN Threat Unit as well."

"On it sir. I'll get another team leader if I see one."

Bishop rushed through the halls as an alarm was blaring. As he was jogging through the headquarters. He saw Hibana running to the chow hall.

"With me Hibana. We need to go to the briefing room."

"On it Bishop. I saw the news. I'm assuming we'll be spinning up for an operation."

"Correct. We'll be briefed on the situation then you and two other teams will be deployed."

Briefing Room

The air was tense in the large room. Keller, still in his workout clothes, looked around. He saw a large map of the United States, specifically where the attacks occurred. The Director of Rainbow was speaking through his headset with his thick Swedish Accented English. He made out part of the conversation as he took his seat.

"Yes, Mr. President. I have three deployable teams. We'll spin up in 30 minutes and stop the terrorists before more damage occurs. Do you have any local units in the areas affected? Understood. I'll let my assault team leaders know."

Bishop stood in front of the gathered Operator's and Intelligence Personal.

"We have a rapidly developing situation in the United States. We recently conducted multiple operations to stop the rest of Zara's arms trafficking. After receiving intel from our allies in the US Intelligence Community, we learned of a Pakistani warlord selling WMD's to unknown buyers. These buyers happened to be the Last Man Battalion and the True Son's domestic extremist groups based in the United States. The mission was interrupted when a Black Tusk Kill Team showed up. To keep this short, these two organizations have chemical weapons in the United States and we are now seeing the beginnings of a possibly larger terrorist attack. I'll give the floor to Six."

"As Bishop stated, this may be a precursor to a major chemical attack. Keller's Team one will be in Los Angeles, Hibana you'll go to New York and Thermite your squad will take point in DC."

"On it." All three operators said.

Keller left the briefing room and ran to team one's barracks. The room was filled with beds and showers. When he got into the room he saw his guys getting dressed in their tactical gear.

"We saw the news boss. Which city are we headed to?" Lt. Fred Franklin said as he was putting on his ballistic combat armor.

"We're headed to Los Angeles, gentlemen. You'll all need a gas mask, bring frags, flash grenades, and breaching chargers. We don't know what we'll be doing or the resistance."

"Will we link up with any local law enforcement?"

"Possibly. We'll get more information during the team briefing on the C-130."

C-130 en route to the United States

The large military plane was soaring through the air as it dove down to land at Fort Bragg. The temporary base of operations for Team Rainbow while they conducted the operation in the United States. Keller of course was no stranger to conducting counter terrorism operations in the States as he had some so during the Las Vegas Attacks of 2010. He had just finished talking to the other team leaders that'll conduct missions in New York and Washington DC. Thermite and Hibana were good operator's and brought unique skills to Rainbow. At first when he had returned to the unit, he was unsettled by the changes he had seen. But after being in action with his new team members he was confident in Rainbow's success.

He saw Jung Park and Michael Walter talking. Knight was sleeping and Franklin was checking his assault rifle. He looked around and saw Thermite with his team which included Buck, Sledge, Goyo, and Thorn. His team codenamed Redhammer for this operation has the tough job of going to Washington, the President and his cabinet are safe in the bunker, but armed insurgents are in the capital and communication with local law enforcement is down.

Hibana's team codenamed Viperstrike included Thatcher, Mute, Jager, Capitão, and Brava. Their job was to combat insurgents in New York City and find WMDs.

This would be one of Team Rainbow's most important missions. The safety of millions of Americans rested on their shoulders.
