CHAPTER 9: ASSOCIATES
After teleporting away from the group, Shiara found herself in a dark, gloomy dungeon filled with evil creatures of every kind. Wraiths, phantoms… the darkness would have subdued her already if not for her enhanced powers. She still couldn't believe that she, a lowly fairy, would have been offered such a high position. Just like my mother taught me, Shiara thought. 'Goodness will always be rewarded, whether immediately, or later in life.' A simple good deed towards Kendra now rewarded her as a Fairy Duchessa.
Shiara made a promise to herself to always continue doing good. As she passed the dungeons, she felt a deep compassion and care towards Seth. After all, he had lost his memory. It hadn't been his fault that Ronodin was the first to find him and bring him over to the wrong side by trickery. Passing the cells she came to a particular one, and after a moment's hesitation, stepped in. Seth was on the floor, tears silent pouring down his cheeks as he grieved in shock.
Calvin was right next to him, comforting him and patting him on the back, urging him to remember it wasn't his fault, and that Ronodin had tricked him. In the midst of all the commotion, they didn't even see Shiara's arrival until she cleared her throat self-consciously. She knelt in front of the fallen boy and gently cupped his chin.
"Seth," she said softly. After a moment of gaping, his eyes cleared slowly. "Shiara?"
"Yes, it's me" she replied "We have to get out of here" "How?" Seth asked
"By teleporting of course," she responded. "We can't teleport Ronidion, is the Fairy King remember?" he questioned.
"You won't believe it, Seth, but your sister is a Magical Queen, and she can override any magic." "So basically," Seth asked, "she's the most powerfullest magical person in the world." Shiara nodded. "She's a fairy now." Seth gasped jealously. "Kendra, a fairy? No fair!" "Yeah," Shiara continued, "she made me a Fairy Duchessa, a princess of the Fairy Realm. She was overjoyed when I told her you were here." After hearing this his eyes hardened. "Shiara, I think I have a magical object that will allow us to defeat Ronodin, but it's broken. Do you think Kendra can fix it?"
"Now, virtually nothing is impossible to do as long as it's magical. Yes, I think she can fix it. Let me see this object. Reaching into his satchel, Seth gently cupped the broken sides of the Wizenstone and held it out for Shiara to see. Shiara gasped quietly. "Are you telling me that's the Wizenstone?" Seth nodded glumly. "I broke it with the Unforgiving Blade."
Shiara took the pieces away from him and gently held it. "Good news for you, Seth. Kendra will be able to fix this." Seth's face brightened. "Really?" "Mhmm… wait Kendra's sending me a message. After a few seconds, a holographic image of Kendra appeared on the screen. "Hi Seth," she said, smiling brightly. A grin spread through Seth's face. "Kens! How are you? I got my memories back and…. It's overwhelming. I can't believe I betrayed Wyrmroost, my own preserve. I…- I dunno what to say to apologize." Kendra's face softened. "It's okay Seth. All is forgiven." Seth smiled with a tinge of sadness. "You may have forgiven me, but I can't forgive myself. I mean, who would? I literally overran my own country that I was co-caretaker of with dragons and got Agad killed." Kendra gently placed a holographic hand on his shoulder reassuringly.
"Seth, what you did wasn't your own actions. Ronodin was corrupting you, and manipulating you for evil. I wouldn't have trusted anyone if I had my memories taken. The best thing you can do to help us is to aid us in the rebellion. Shiara told me you had the pieces of the Wizenstone. I can guarantee that I will be able to fix that and allow you to control it." Seth's relaxed from the tension he was holding in. "Let's do it then Kendra. The most thing I want is for Ronodin to butt off my life for once and for all." Kendra turned to Shiara. "Sister, bring Seth to me.
Unfortunately, Ronodin is monitoring magic in the Fairy Realm so you can't come by that. We're finding a way to bypass that with the Quintlets. But, Shiara, you know the way. Good luck, dear. I will aid you in any way possible. Raxtus will come in a second to assist you." Her eyes sparkled as she ran her hand through the call and cut the connection. After waiting a few seconds, they heard a soft flapping of wings and the invisible Raxtus appeared, grinning. "Seth!" he said and greeted him enthusiastically.
"Hey Mum," he said, turning into his human avatar and hugging Shiara. Seth's jaw dropped. "How'd you get a human avatar?" he blurted, astonished.
"Your sister," he said simply. "She's amazing." Seth was still shocked. "Geez, Kendra must have powerful magic. That's nearly impossible." Shiara interrupted them gently. "Now boys, I'm glad to have the greeting between two long-time friends, but let's cut the conversation and continue to the main one. We need to get out of here." They nodded in agreement. "Right, these phantoms and ghosts here are freaking me out," Raxtus agreed.
Opening the door, they exited the cage. "How're we supposed to turn invisible, and bypass the guards?" Seth asked.
Shiara turned to Raxtus. "We've got nice new upgrades added to Raxtus. Along with turning into a human, he has a breath mist that makes people invisible, and also a anti-invisible mist breath. He can also change into any animal he wants to be." Seth laced his fingers over his face. "This is not fair at all. I'm the only one without power here," he pouted. "Come on now Seth," Raxtus argued. His face paled. "We need to go, NOW. Raxtus exhaled his breath mist over them, and they bolted towards the exit. "Follow me," Shiara calmly communicated telepathically. "We'll be there in no time, safe and sound."
