Damn it! Damn it! Damn it all to fucking hell!
Peter could not believe he had made such a stupid mistake. How could he have been so blind? Of course, Sam was not going to react the way Peter had hoped. There was no way in hell Sam could have recognized who Peter actually was. After all, even Peter was not certain whether Nova was Sam Alexander. He had needed to kiss the boy in order to find out. However, he had not had the courage to do so. Plus, there was always the possibility that Nova did not want a repeat of what happened between him and Spiderman.
"Fuck!" Peter yelled as he pushed everything that was on his desk to the floor. He hit his head against the wood, cried out in pain and covered it with his hands.
"I can't believe I just did that." Peter mumbled. He then raised his head and looked at the sky. He frowned. Dark clouds had covered the moon once more. Needless to say, Peter did not enjoy the ominous vibes he was receiving. With a shake of his head he tried to pull himself back together. After all, he was meeting Nova tonight and if possible, he would have another chance to test his theory and confirm what he was already eighty per cent certain was true.
Sam was pacing around his room when Danny found him. Iron Fist sighed when he saw that his friend was yet again agitated. He halted, crossed his arms in front of his chest and waited patiently for Nova to notice him, which, as he had predicted, did not occur.
"What seems to be the problem, Sam?"
Sam yelped. He was taken aback by the sudden appearance of his teammate.
"Jesus, Danny, you gave me a fright."
Danny's eyes narrowed, "I gave you a fright?" he asked.
Sam looked at him in bewilderment, "Yes. I believe that's what I just said."
Danny chuckled and shook his head. Sam frowned and asked, "What's so funny?"
"Nothing," Danny replied before he stepped forward and rested a hand on Sam's shoulder. He looked Nova in the eyes and enquired, "Do you want to talk about it?"
Sam shrunk under Danny's intense yet concerned gaze. Nova looked away and mumbled, "I'm afraid you're going to have to be more specific."
Danny sighed and looked away as well. He let go of Sam's shoulder and uttered, "Fine. You know where to find me. Our training session starts in ten minutes. Don't be late."
Iron Fist then turned and walked away. Danny was about to open the door when Sam called out, 'Wait!"
Sam then ran and wrapped his arms around Danny. Iron Fist tensed. A long time had passed since they had last shared an intimate moment together. He soon relaxed, however, and allowed Sam to rest his forehead on Danny's shoulder.
"Spiderman and I kissed." Sam suddenly mumbled.
Danny's eyes widened, but otherwise there was no indication of his surprise. "Oh." He breathed out.
"Oh? Oh?!" Sam exclaimed as he let go and Danny turned around. The blond-haired boy tried to pacify Nova, but it was futile. This was a battle Iron Fist could not win without force or semi-violence.
"What do you want me to say, Sam? Oh my God, how could you?!" Danny began as he saw the spark leave Sam's eyes. The boy's shoulders sagged as Danny stepped forward and enveloped him in his arms. He then continued, "I will never become what you want me to be, Sam."
"I know." Sam sighed. He then wrapped his arms loosely around Danny's waist and whispered, "Still… can you hold me like this… f-for a little while longer?"
Danny chuckled before he answered, "Always."
Peter had just arrived at the tri-carrier before he was immediately ushered to enter the training rooms. What or rather who he found there was not the person he had wanted most to see. His shoulders dropped, but he did not allow the moment of panic and somberness to deter him. With a deep inhale and exhale, he lulled his emotions to sleep for now and went to speak with White Tiger and Power man, who were the only ones present.
"I do not mean to sound offensive in any way, but why are only the two of you here?"
Ava stopped her punch mid-swing and turned toward him to answer, "The other two will not be joining us today."
Peter noticed the edge and badly concealed anger in her voice. His curiosity was spiked, but he held it in. He could wait a day or rather he hoped he could.
"Alright then. Where should we begin?"
Power man smirked, "Right now." He then aimed a punch at Peter's collarbone. Spiderman barely had time to recover from the hit when White Tiger round house kicked him into oblivion. The last thing he remembered before he passed out were shouts and blurs of white, yellow and black.
Sam felt someone shaking his shoulder and an all too familiar raspy voice calling out his name. A part of him wanted to grab the boy's hand and drag him into bed in order to snuggle for a little while longer, but he received no such chance. It seemed Danny was adamant about waking him up.
"Alright, alright. I'm up." Sam iterated.
"Sam… I don't know how to tell you this, but Spiderman was knocked out during the training session. It seems he took a few bad blows during his battle with Beetle as well. He is in the infirmary recovering now." Danny explained, but rushed the last part when Sam was about to bolt from the bed. Iron Fist grabbed Nova's forearms and looked him in the eyes when he added, "Listen to me, Sam. He is fine. Everything is going to be alright."
Sam chuckled darkly before he said, "You only say that before you spill the worst of the worst news. What else is there? You happened to find out who he is and I'm not going to like it?"
When Danny did not react, Sam's eyes widened. He looked away and started panting.
"Who is it?" He whispered.
"Sam, I'm not certain whether…" Danny tried to soothe Sam's close to panicking state. However, his efforts were fruitless.
"Damn it, Rand, either tell me who Spiderman is or I swear I will blast you all the way to the end of the universe and back!" Sam shouted.
Danny cringed at the loudness of the threat before he sighed, let go of Sam's arms and uttered, "Peter Parker is Spiderman."
