"Alright, go!" Marnie exclaimed.

Donning a bright red body suit, Serena's hollow voice echoed throughout the classroom. "I am an atom, but I have an unpaired electron. Oh, what should I do?" She said, trying to ignoring the snickers coming from her classmates.

Ash walked up beside Serena, wearing a blue shirt and blue basketball shorts, neither of which fit him. "I am also an atom with an unpaired electron. Would you like to team up?"

Serena replied, "Why yes, I would!" She closed her eyes and held out her hand, feeling excited as Ash's hand took hers.

Marnie pointed at the pair's held hands and explained, "This is called a single bond. Each atom is sharing one electron. If each atom was sharing two electrons..." She nudged Serena to extend her other hand.

"Just imagine it's Chloe," Serena thought. Peeking, she caught a glimpse of Ash taking her other hand. His jet black hair fell gracefully on his tanned face, causing Serena's heart to flutter. She couldn't help but stare; it wasn't often she saw Ash up close.

Marnie continued the explanation, "This is a double bond. The atoms now share four electrons between themselves. A triple bond is when they share six. The only thing that can break a covalent bond is..."

Gary suddenly popped out from under a desk, dressed in a vampire costume from the local party store,"Mwahahaha! It is I, an enzyme!" he exclaimed.

"A covalent bond can be broken by many things, such as enzymes," Marnie explained.

Gary then karate-chopped Serena and Ash's hands, pushing them apart, declaring, "Your bond is now over!"

Marnie walked in front of the class and said, "Covalent bonds can also be broken by thermal energy, radiation, and chemical reactions. This has been our presentation on covalent bonds. Thank you."

Ash, Serena, Marnie, and Gary all bowed as a few quiet claps came from the student audience.

Professor Birch walked to the front of the classroom and commended the group, saying, "That was good. Well done."

Gary nudged Ash's shoulder, "I killed it bro and this vampire costume is sick."

Ash looked down at his monochromatic outfit, "It's a lot better than this. I look like a blueberry." He noticed Misty snickering at him from across the classroom.

"Group E, you can go change. Please come back quickly for the other presentations. No dilly-dallying. Especially you, Oak," said Professor Birch.

Gary rolled his eyes and replied, "You got it, teach." Walking with Ash to the boy's restroom.

Ash peeled his tight shirt off over his head. "Finally, I can take this off."

"I'm not sure I want to take this cape off man, it's clean," said Gary as he admired himself in the mirror.

"You're gonna need to take it off eventually, can't play basketball in that," replied Ash.

Gary's smile turned into a frown as he remembered, "Oh, right. Tonight's the first game."

Ash had been training Gary for the past two weeks for the school's basketball team. Gary's height and natural athleticism gave him an advantage, but he was still a beginner at the sport. Nevertheless, he was needed to meet the player amount requirement.

Gary's nasally voice complained, "How long do I have to stay on the team? I can't have all my Friday nights be taken up."

"Like I said before, if you outscore me in a pickup game, you can quit. Until then, you'll have to take girls out on Saturdays," replied Ash.

Gary sighed as he took off his vampire cloak and asked, "Did you ever get that one guy to join, that super tall guy with the fruity purple hair. Saul, was it?"

Ash corrected him, "Paul. And yeah, he's coming. Lillie said he's been practicing at their court this entire week."

"Must be nice!" Gary exclaimed.

Ash chuckled, "Yeah, I would kill to have a basketball court at home."

"Not that stupid," teased Gary. "You got a cute girlfriend while I'm over here with nothing."

Ash rolled his eyes. "You could have a nice relationship too if you stopped messing around with girls. Whatever happened to you and that girl from class 3-C?"

"Miette? She's mad at me for kissing some girl at a party. I tried telling her I had a few beers and it was no biggie, but she's all emotional about it," replied Gary.

Ash shook his head, "Of course she doesn't believe that. Alcohol doesn't change your desires, it just reveals your deepest ones."

"I think a bachelors lifestyle fits me better, anyway. I'm too attractive to stay faithful," boasted Gary.

Ash watched as his teammate left the restroom."Don't forget, warm ups for the game starts at 5pm," he said.

Gary waved his hand nonchalantly, "Yeah, yeah. Hopefully there's a big party afterwards."

Serena hurriedly tore off her red body suit, "That was so embarrassing! I can't believe Ash saw me in that," she complained.

"Relax," said Marnie, blowing smoke out the restroom window. "You have the body to make it look good."

"As if!" Serena cried as she put on her school uniform. "I'm never going along with your plans again."

Marnie flashed a playful smile, "You got to hold Ash's hand and even got his number. My plan was a success. It's only a matter of time before you steal that boy away from Lillie."

Serena protested, "I keep telling you, I don't want that!"

"You say that, but I saw you flirting with him when we rehearsed. All those conversations of summer camp, so steamy!" teased Marnie, watching Serena's face light up red.

Serena rushed over to her friend and whispered, "Shh, keep it down. What if one of Lillie's informants hears us?"

Marnie scoffed, "That girl is not scary. If she tries to mess with you, I'll give her everything I got."

"She may not be scary, but her bodyguards are." Serena shuttered, remembering Lillie walk into a tennis practice with multiple bodyguards following behind. "She might even get me kicked off the team if she finds out!"

Marnie reassured her, "The team will lose out. You're way better than that princess."

"Marnie," Serena's voice was serious. "If I get kicked off the team then I have no shot of getting a scholarship."

Marnie tossed her cigarette out the window, "Thinking about college, huh? Very studious of you."

"Please Marnie, I appreciate your help with Ash but at this point I've accepted just being friends with him," replied Serena.

Marnie giggled, "Fiiiine. I'll stop. But I doubt you'll be able to stop yourself," she said in a hushed tone as she stepped out of the restroom.

"Marnie!" Serena growled as she watched her friend head off to skip the rest of class.

"I definitely won't flirt with Ash anymore! I'll show her!" thought Serena, unknowing of what would happen later that night.

Ash, sweating and exhausted, dribbled the ball down the court. With only a few seconds left on the clock, Pallet Town High trailed 62-63. The student section roared as Ash juked his defender, giving him a clear path to the basket. Ash drove into the lane and launched the ball high into the air. It hit the rim once, then twice, before finally falling into the net. The crowd erupted with cheers, piling onto the court and hoisting Ash onto their shoulders. He had done it, Pallet won 64-63.

Ash had given everything he had on the court, and now it was time to let loose and have some fun. And what better way to do that than by attending Goh's party?More cheers eruptedas he walked into the massive house. Ash was dressed in a black t-shirt and Nike joggers, looking every bit the hero of the night. The whole house was packed with people, all drinking, dancing, and talking.

Brock hoisted his drink into the air, "There he is, our hero!" The crowd erupted even louder. Goh took a break from making out with Chloe and shouted, "Someone get this man a drink!" Gary, who had road the bench all game, sat on a couch nearby with Miette on his lap.

"I guess she forgave him," thought Ash as he walked through the party, receiving high-fives from students he didn't recognize. Everyone congratulated him, and a few of the girls even flashed him along the way. Drew, a senior from the basketball team, handed Ash a red cup. "It's gonna be a good night," he said, flashing his well-known smile.

Ash was inclined to agree. "I've earned this," he thought as he gulped down the beverage. Drew poured another drink for Ash, and a group of students quickly formed around him, cheering as he went from one drink to the next. Ash felt the intoxication quickly take over as he finished his fifth drink, letting out an animalistic scream.

"Yoooooo! Good shit, man." Drew slapped Ash on the back. "Too bad Paul isn't here, I bet that giant can crush some brewskis."

Ash laughed as he watched his vision begin to distort. "Yea, I tried to invite him and Lillie, but her mom forbids them from this kind of stuff."

"Damn shame," said Drew. "Maybe someday."

The exhaustion from the basketball game melted away as Ash listened to the loud music from the party. Truth be told, he felt relieved Lillie wasn't here, the pressure of living up to her expectations was overwhelming sometimes.

A black haired girl walked up to Ash, "Guess you aren't so lame, after all." It was Marnie. Seemingly hiding behind her was Serena, dressed in a simple sky blue crop top and yoga pants.

Ash smiled at the two girls, "You guys made it!"

Marnie laughed, "Uh oh, he's drunk," as she looked at Ash's massive smile.

"I am not, watch!" Ash held his hands to his side and stood on one leg. It only took a few moments before he lost his balance and stumbled.

Marnie helped Ash back up and said, "Easy there, big guy. Come on, Serena. We're going to need a few drinks ourselves to keep up." The two girls headed off towards the kitchen.

"Man, tonight is just the best," thought Ash as he looked out into the party. Gary was sharing a passionate kiss with Miette, Goh and Chloe had already disappeared upstairs, and Brock was grinning ear-to-ear as he shared a joint with a group of girls. Everything was perfect, or so it seemed.

As the night slowed down and people headed home, Ash stepped out onto the porch to catch his breath. The effects of the various substances in his system were fading, and the chilly late summer air reminded Ash that autumn was right around the corner.

Sitting outside was Serena, typing something into her phone. She gave Ash a wry smiling upon seeing him. "Hey Ash. Congrats on the win today, it was awesome."

"Thanks, my teammates made it possible," said Ash, trying to ignore his slightly blurry vision as he looked at Serena. She was wearing a dark purple coat, clearly from Marnie. Her long blonde hair was a little messy but otherwise looked picturesque.

Serena looked up at Ash and giggled quietly. "Looks like you had more than alcohol."

"Haha, maybe. What about you?" asked Ash as he sat in a chair across from Serena. She stared at him for a moment before replying.

"No, I have the tennis practice tomorrow. By the way, are you coming to cheer on Lillie?" she asked as she pulled her legs into the chair, hugging them. Ash resist admiring her beauty. During the group project, he had tried to keep his eyes away from her, but right now, he didn't care.

"Yea, I'll be there," replied Ash. Lillie and Serena, along with the other tennis girls, would be competing for a spot on varsity. Ash mentally groaned as he thought about having to roll out of bed hungover only to go watch girl's tennis.

"I guess you won't cheer for me then," Serena said, sounding a little sad.

"I can cheer for you! We are friends after all," Ash replied happily.

"What if I play Lillie?" Serena inquired, peering inquisitively at him.

"Well, in that case..." Ash's voice trailed off as he imagined the two girls facing off. Strangely, he found himself not knowing who he would root for in that scenario.

Serena giggled. "It's okay, I know you'll root for Lillie. She is your girlfriend and all."

"Truth be told, I forgot about the tennis matches until just now," Ash said.

"You can't forget something like that, Ash! This is like the time you forgot to play kickball with me at summer camp. You were always so forgetful," Serena said, looking at him with a mixture of amusement and exasperation.

"That's right! Man, I forgot about that too," Ash laughed, looking closer at Serena. Her messy blonde hair blew in the cold autumn wind. He always had an easy time talking to Serena, as if they had picked up right where they left off so many years ago. Although he a hard time remembering all the events at summer camp, the memories he could recall were nostalgic.

"Oh Ash, you never change," Serena smiled gently. Ash couldn't help but fixate on her body. She was more than beautiful. Maybe it was the alcohol tinting his lens, but he felt she was more attractive than Lillie or any of the celebrities he saw on TV. Her aura was completely different from everyone else, putting him at ease.

"Ash?" Lillie's voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Ah, uh, sorry. I had a little bit too much to drink," Ash stammered, realizing he had been caught checking out Serena.

"Be careful," Serena blushed as she turned away from Ash. The pair shared a moment of silence, and Ash felt his heart beating faster and faster. He couldn't help but give Serena another look, taking in her delicate features under the bright moonlight. The more he looked at her, the more he felt the confusion in his mind wash away.

He had always found Serena attractive, but now, as he sat there with her, he realized just how much he was drawn to her. Her beauty was not just physical, but also in the way she carried herself and the kindness she showed to others. Ash couldn't deny the strong connection he felt with her, a connection that he had been trying to ignore for far too long.

As Serena turned back to face him, Ash took a deep breath and spoke from his heart. "Serena, I know this might sound crazy, but I can't help the way I feel. I've been trying to ignore it, but I can't anymore. I've always been drawn to you, and being here with you now, feels right."

Serena's eyes widened in surprise, and Ash could see the emotions playing across her face. "I… I don't know what to say," Serena stammered.

Ash reached out and took her hand, feeling the warmth of her shoot through him at contact. "You don't have to say anything. I just needed to tell you how I feel. I don't want to hide it anymore."

Serena looked down at their intertwined hands, and Ash could see the conflict in her eyes. He knew that he was putting a lot on her, and jeopardizing both their positions at school, but he refused to bottle up his feelings any longer. Ever since Serena came back into his life, she was always on his mind. Whatever happened next, he didn't care.

Serena's cheeks blushed as she replied, "Come on Ash, you're drunk. You don't mean that."

"It's true!" shouted Ash. "I've been trying to deny it, but I can't anymore."

"Please don't say it Ash..." Serena said weakly.

Ash's tone was firm as he spoke the words that had been weighing on his heart for so long. "Serena… it's you who I want."

Slowly, the girl turned towards Ash, her teary-eyed gaze meeting his. Her blue eyes were filled with tears as she looked at him, searching for any sign that he was joking or playing a cruel prank on her.

"You don't mean it," she whispered.

"I do!" Ash shouted again, his voice filled with conviction. "I want to spend more time with you, as much as I can!"

"Oh Ash," Serena's voice was weak as tears gently fell down her face. "I like you too, but we can't."

Ash didn't hesitate. He grabbed Serena and embraced her tightly, feeling her heart beating against his.

Serena started to protest, "But… the tennis match, and my scholarship, and Marnie, and-"

"Don't worry about all that," he said, holding her close. "All that matters is that we're here together."

Serena embraced back, but Ash could feel her trembling slightly. "What about Lillie?" she asked, her voice muffled against his chest.

"Don't think about her," Ash said firmly, separating from Serena to look deep into her blue eyes. "The only one I love right now is you."

The pair stared at each other for a moment, the tension between them palpable. Serena let her worries fade away as the two exchanged a kiss, their lips meeting in a passionate embrace. After a long embrace, the pair headed upstairs.

In each other's arms once again, the pair spent the rest of the night together, exploring the feelings that had been simmering beneath the surface for so long.

With force, Serena swung her racket through the air. The morning was cold and overcast, a sign of Autumn in Pallet. Soon, the girl's tennis team would soon move into the gymnasium and play inside, but for now, they played outside.

"You got this Serena!" Chloe shouted from the stands, her voice filled with excitement. Beside her sat a dozing off Marnie, the pair of girls having come to support Serena. After a long morning of matches, the seniors had taken up all the varsity spots, and there was only one remaining. However, Serena's final opponent would be challenging as it was against none other than the school idol herself.

"Lillie, you got this!" multiple students shouted as the girl stepped onto the court, her white and blue tennis uniform pristine and her hair tied back into a high ponytail.

"Crush her Lillie!" someone else yelled.

As Lillie approached the court, her bodyguard Paul came over and inspected her tennis racket. He was well known for being Lillie's main bodyguard, but the students had another name for him, "Lillie's Dog."

"Ms. Lillie, your racket is in good condition." Paul said.

"Thanks," Lillie didn't even bother looking in his direction. Her eyes remained fixed on her prey.

The team's coach, Mrs. Juniper, sat above the pair of girls in the referee chair. "Alright, final match. Remember, play fair and have a good time. Good luck!" she called out before blowing the whistle, signaling the start of the match.

"Here we go," thought Serena as she tossed the ball into the air.

The first few rallies were tense, both girls spending time dissecting each other's play style. Serena had noticed from previous practices that Lillie spent extra time working on her power, but neglected to train her speed or backhand. If she could force Lillie onto the defensive, she knew she could win.

Lillie, on the other hand, had one of her maids dissect all her teammates' play and write up a detailed strategy on how to beat each one. Against Serena, the strategy was to wear her down and break her focus. Lillie was determined to execute the game plan and emerge victorious. Losing in front of Ash was not an option.

Ash struggled to keep his eyes open as he watched Serena and Lillie's match drag on. He tried his best to seem interested, but the fatigue from his basketball game and long night partying had caught up to him. The only thing that interested him was seeing Serena's toned thighs every time she swung her racket.

"Nice," thought Ash as he yawned loudly. The experiences of last night kept replaying in his head over and over. The combination of anxiety and excitement was still fresh. It was his first time after all.

"Come on, if Lillie sees you yawning, she'll feel bad," Misty nudged Ash, trying to keep him focused on the match.

"She's definitely going to feel bad after what I did last night," Ash muttered. He had kissed Serena, and much more. There was no way Lillie would forgive him, she might not even let him stay alive.

"Huh?" Misty looked confused at Ash. "What did you do?"

Ash took a breath, trying to steady his nerves. "Please don't tell anyone but, well, I kinda sorta… cheated on her."

"You WHAT?" Misty shouted loudly, her voice filled with disbelief. "Are you serious right now?"

"I had a few drinks and…" Ash trailed off as he remembered carrying Serena to one of the houses spare rooms.

"I don't even know what to say," Misty frowned angrily at Ash. "After all that time me and Brock spent helping you confess to her, you do this."

Ash scratched the back of his head, feeling ashamed. He was starting to feel the weight of his actions. "I'm sorry," he said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.

Misty sighed loudly as she rubbed her forehead, trying to process everything she had just heard. "Who was it with? If that girl blabs her mouth, things could get bad… for you and her."

Ash hesitated for a moment, not wanting to reveal it was Serena. "I can't say," he said.

Misty sighed again. "Fine, but listen Ash Ketchum. If Lillie finds out, don't expect things to end peacefully."

Ash's mind raced as he watched Lillie and Serena's match continue. He didn't dare raise his voice for either girl. The guilt of his actions was starting to weigh heavily on him. Maybe it was better if Lillie never knew?

"Do you think I should tell her?" Ash asked Misty, knowing that he wasn't going to, but wanting to hear her opinion.

"Do what you want, Ash Ketchum," Misty scoffed, her voice filled with anger and disappointment. "I don't even want to look at you right now."

As Misty marched away, Ash thought of Lillie's infamous reputation. He had heard all the rumors about what she did to people she didn't like, Brock had made sure of that. She was notorious for using her mother's influence to get what she wanted. Serena's spot on the team was in jeopardy, and his own family relied on the Aether Foundation for financial aid. His only option was to take this secret to the grave.

"I better talk to Serena and see if she's told anyone yet," thought Ash, his mind racing with worry and fear.

Lillie leaped high above the net, her racket cutting through the air, bringing the ball down onto Serena's court. The match was over, and Ash knew that he needed to act fast before it was too late.

Lillie struggled to catch her breath as she walked off the tennis court. The first two sets had been down to the wire, with multiple long rallies that pushed both players to their limits. But in the final set, Lillie had dominated, winning 6-1. Looking over, she saw Serena bent at the knees, panting heavily.

"Good game," said Lillie as she walked up and extended a hand.

"G-Good game," replied Serena. Despite being the loser, she gave Lillie a look of pure pity.

Lillie's eyes narrowed as she glared at Serena's sympathetic expression. Lillie had always prided herself on her strength and skill at tennis, and she had put it all on the line to win this match. She didn't need anyone's pity, especially not from someone she had just beaten.

"Why is she looking at me like that?" thought Lillie as she retreated back to her bench, feeling frustrated and confused.

"Congratulations, Ms. Lillie. You made the varsity team once again!" said Paul as he trotted over, a towel and water in hand.

"Hmph." Lillie pouted as she took the items from Paul. Something about the match didn't sit right with her, as if Serena wasn't fully focused on the game. She had expected more from her teammate, who had worked hard at every practice.

"Oh well," thought Lillie, pushing Serena's pity out of her mind. "At least my boyfriend came to see me."

But when Lillie looked around for Ash, she couldn't find him.

Serena struggled to catch her breath as she watched her vision go blurry, it was clear to her that her body wasn't in top shape. Her night with Ash merely twelve hours prior had crept back into her mind during the match. It was her first time after all.

Serena had tried to give it her all, but midway through the match, she glimpsed at Ash sitting on the sidelines. A wave of guilt washed over her, and she found it hard to focu. Her mind was clouded with feelings of love, guilt, and fear, making it difficult to concentrate.

"Good game," said Lillie, extending her hand for a handshake. Serena felt her heart sink as she looked into the pretty girl's eyes. She briefly considered telling her what had happened right then and there, but couldn't bring herself to do it, too afraid of the consequences.

"G-Good game," stammered Serena as she returned Lillie's handshake. She looked at the girl for a moment before Lillie returned a confused glare, leaving Serena feeling even more guilty and ashamed.

"Oh goodness, what have I done!" thought Serena. Looking around the court, she tried to find Ash again, but he was nowhere to be found.

"Serena..." Chloe came over to her friend and placed a hand on her back. "It was a good match."

Marnie stood silently behind Chloe with a frown on her face. She was the only one who knew what had happened between her and Ash last night.

"Thanks. I'll get her next time," said Serena, trying to put on a happy face.

"I shouldn't have invited you to Goh's party," said Chloe sadly. "I just didn't want to leave you out."

Serena strained a smile at her friend, feeling shame and regret. "It's okay, it didn't affect me at all," she lied, knowing that her night with Ash had changed everything.

Marnie, on the other hand, felt conflicted. She wanted to push Serena and Ash together, but seeing her friend being so distraught made her worried. "It's okay Serena, it's not as bad as you think." she said plainly.

Chloe looked at the two of them with confusion, wondering what was going on. "What, whats not as bad as you think?" she asked.

BZZZZ

Suddenly, Serena heard her phone vibrating from her bag. Looking at it, she saw a text message from Ash.

"Uh, I'm going to the restroom real quick," said Serena hurriedly as she rushed away from her two friends.

Chloe looked at Marnie with concern. "Maybe her stomach was hurting and that's why she lost?" she said, looking over at Marnie for confirmation.

"I don't think that's it," Marnie flashed a smile. Despite everything that happened, she could read Serena like a book. "Everything should be just fine."

Ash's mind raced as he paced the halls of Pallet Town High. He wasn't sure what to do about Serena or Lillie. With the benefit of a sober mind he could tell he still cared for Lillie, loved her even, but something kept bringing him back to Serena. Ash scrambled as he typed a message in his phone.

Ash: "Can we talk?"

"Dammit, how could I be so stupid," thought Ash. "I should have just controlled myself."

Ash sighed loudly as he leaned on a wall of lockers, waiting for a reply. After a brief moment, a familiar buzz came from his phone.

Serena: Sure
Serena: Meet me behind the football bleachers in thirty minutes.

Ash's heart jumped as he read the message. He was excited at the chance to talk with Serena again. As he smiled at his phone, he didn't even notice a girl walk up to him, interrupting his thoughts. Looking up, he came face-to-face with a short girl with dark blue hair standing in front of him. She was wearing the school uniform despite it being a Saturday.

"Super gross! Who smiles at their phone like that?" The girl said, looking at Ash with amusement.

"Excuse me?" asked Ash.

"Woah, it's Ash Ketchum! I saw your basketball game yesterday!" the girl said, staring at Ash's face with a slight blush. "That was sooo cool. I usually don't like basketball guys because their sooo ugly but you're hot!"

"Uhh, thanks," murmured Ash as he looked at the girl, feeling uneasy from her intense gaze.

"Oh sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Dawn, I'm a freshman here." the girl flashed a peace-sign and smile at Ash

"Nice to meet you," replied Ash, trying to be polite despite his annoyance. "Now if you'll excuse me."

"Wait, Ash… can I ask you something?" the girl said, wrapping her body around Ash's arm, not letting him escape. "It's super important."

Ash felt his irritation growing as the girl continued to cling to him. "I'm kind of busy right now," he said, trying to free his arm from her grip.

But the girl didn't let up, instead leaning close to Ash's ear with a smug grin on her face.

"Does Lillie know you're sleeping with that girl on the tennis team, or should I inform her?" she whispered. Dawn's face lit up with evil excitement as she watched the boy's expression warp into despair.

Ash felt his heart sink and knees grow weak. Somehow this freshman, Dawn, knew about his night with Serena. He had never even seen her before, but she clearly knew him. Who was this girl?
