To the Shining You

Chapter 6: Don't Make Me Forget About You

Tokio POV - A year ago…

"Right now, I feel like, I finally understand, the reason I was born."

At the inside of Akashic Records, in the light oranged-colored digital space, where we almost lost against The Queen of Demise, Aura.

Every Twilight Knight is banished due to her power, Me and Saika were left powerless and unable to find a way to stop her at the cost. With the vaccine failing to restore Aura, the situation got worse as we got it, and without an ally on our side, it would be impossible to stand a chance against Aura.

But in a sudden turn, AIKA came out from hiding, deactivating the stealth hologram ability, she walked as she looked at Aura.

"To fix the distortion in The World… that is my purpose."

"I was born to make Aura remember who she was. Surely for that very purpose."

I was gasped and shocked to hear her purpose of being born, the same as Saika did, it was rather unexpected to come from AIKA and it was too sudden for that.

I was worried about her and had bad feelings about this. I took a step forward, trying to reason with her, "Wh-what are you saying?! You're wrong!", he continued, "AIKA-chan, that isn't the reason you were born!"

She turned around and began to look at Me and Saika who was stunned as we were unable to process our brain if we were correct.

"Tokio, do you remember what you said before when we entered Akashic Records?"

"I probably won't be able to stay here much longer,"

But how… how come she said that she can't stay much longer… Thus something strange happened to her as we entered the Akashic Records… I didn't even notice anything strange from her, nor even Saika could analyze if there was something wrong…

If there is, did she hide all this from us… does she know that her time might come for her to at her end… No… this is wrong, I'm sure of it… if it's true, how come we did not even realize it sooner…

I closed my eyes and pounced my teeth, feeling disbelief that this had to happen and her purpose makes it feel unfair, "But, I…?"

But AIKA smiled at me, generously, "It's alright Tokio, I'll be fine from now on,"

She then continued, "Even though I'm not here with you anymore, I hope you live a good life, Tokio."

"So… don't forget about me,"

My eyes widened as I soon realized that AIKA might try to sacrifice herself to stop Aura. I reached out my hands and exclaimed, "No… AIKA-chan,"

The last words that AIKA says to me, "Farewell… my hero…" with a pure and generous smile, but yet sad at the same time, began to imprint in my memories, the expression of her that he wouldn't ever forget.

Slowly and slowly, she walked straight ahead to Aura. I and Saika was shocked to see that happened. We tried to shout at her to stop, but she wouldn't listen, and with just one more step, she went floating and started heading straight to save her…

"No… please don't go…"

"Please… don't go!"

I tried so hard to scream and shout AIKA, but it was no use, and I tried to run as fast as I could and try floating myself so I could catch AIKA…

"AIKA-chan!"

"AIKAAAAA-CHAAAN!"

but it all failed, and two of us were forced to watch Aura get destroyed by Aura's power… it left me in such despair, pain, disbelief, and sadness.

I remember those words, 'Farewell… my hero…'

Yes, that's right. The Akashic Line.

AIKA was an NPC I met in a quest for Akashic Line.

Rescuing a princess who is trapped by a demon king. A run-of-the-mill story with an uninspired ending.

But that princess's smile and her words of thanks were real.

After she waved goodbye to me, I wanted to see that smile of hers one more time.

So I decided to become a hero!

A hero who will always come to save the world, and that meeting with Saika and The World was a chance that led me to see her again.

That smile… has always brought me strength to move forward and to overcome adversaries whenever I go, and the adventure we share together… because we continue to smile together.

But, that's the last smile AIKA could give…

Now that AIKA's gone, I might not be able to see that smile again…

But… I know that… her smile… as long as I remember her, she would not disappear completely…

She is always in my mind and keeping straight no matter when I'm down, but that's because I continue to remember her.

So that's why… I won't forget her… same goes for Saika and everyone.

I won't let the memories we had together be all for nothing…

That's the reason why I started my journey in The World…

Tokio POV - End

In the Present Day…

"W-Why… Why… Why… Tokio?"

She asked as she saw Tokio's expressions that are written in his face, with his eyes filled with determination, courage, no self-regret, and no self-doubt over his decision, strong enough for him to refuse Saika's sincere wish that cost her to disappear from this world, making him forget about her. That absolutely major refusal came from him leading her to disbelief, gasping, and shock over his refusal.

Tokio answered, "Isn't obvious, there's no way that I could accept that the precious time we and AIKA had together is just for nothing, I refused to believe that all these precious memories are better to be left forgotten just like that, I refused that, therefore I refused to forget about you."

Unable to hold such disbelief and disappointment toward him, her eyes began to glare at Tokio, pounced her teeth, and clenched her hands as she began to raise the tone of her voice.

"You moron, I told you, didn't I? If you continue doing this, I might be doing nothing but a burden and suffering to you. Don't you even understand how I treated you so harshly, don't you even have a single anger left inside of you to me, how can you be so naive for all of that to happen?"

"How can you still selfishly choose to stay remember me? don't you have enough all nightmares that you witnessed the day AIKA died, after all, I did to you, wasn't that even enough solution for you to stay away from me,"

But Tokio glared at Saika, but his determination didn't go even if he did, he was mad about what she said, but that doesn't slow him down and regretting of his decision,

"Stay away from you? don't be stupid. I might not be able to escape the nightmare I endured after losing her, but that doesn't mean that I can stand by and do nothing, while continuously watching you in pain, grief, suffered and continuously blaming myself over what happened, isn't this the same as selfish that you continue repeated all over again,"

"I'm a moron, yes I know that, but I rather become a moron, or asshole, being such an idiot in front of your eyes, because it was the right decision for me, rather than listen to your stupid wishes,"

"And just so you know, I didn't come here to find you just so that you could just ask me to forget about you, that won't happen like that."

Saika felt trembling and shocked over his refusal and unheard words that it was the first time Tokio could rebel with his attitude against her like that.

"And then are you alright for all this, continue to remember all the pain, sorrow, and sadness that continues to engulf inside your mind forever?"

Tokio answered, "Yes,"

Her eyes widened, over such confidence and choices of words, it was very unexpected and so very shocking that Tokio's decision is the same that he had to go through all the pain and sadness of losing her, especially the time of their adventure in The World that she deemed to be responsible for what happened to him.

"Tokio, please listen to me, you can't ju-" Saika said, trying to persuade him,

But Tokio cut her words with an intense look, he pointed his finger at her and shouted at her, "NO! You're the one who should have listened to me, BAKA-SAIKA!"

"Eh-Eeeh!" Saika was shocked, feeling bashful while her sadness was still written through her eyes. She was confused and gasped at all of his intense looks, mixed with anger and frustration toward her. Also, this is the first time that she heard Tokio calling her, 'Baka-Saika' which was the word 'Baka' that she usually used to call him as 'Baka-Tokio' during their time in The World.

Now things might look just the opposite in terms of calling than how it was before.

Tokio's anger subsided after that, he sighed as many times after he let out all the words from his frustration and also part of the rejection that always became something he wanted to get it out of his chest, and all of this was for Saika. His expression returned to normal, while his determination remained, at the same time, he went for an indignation expression as his eyes couldn't look away from Saika.

"I promise to AIKA that I will never forget her, the same goes for you Saika-chan. Even though all of my memories of my experience in The World with you are filled with pain, suffering, and sadness, I'll remember it deep inside of my heart no matter what happens."

"That's why, I will never forget,"

Saika was left speechless, "Tokio,"

"I will never forget that day…"

"When my adventure in The World, began on the rooftop,"

"Nor Twilight Knights, Nor Schicksal,"

"Nor AIKA-chan,"

"And of course, I won't forget Saika-chan too,"

"It wasn't always happy"

"There were lots of painful and sad moments we felt."

"But since I experience all of those,"

"I feel that I can overcome any obstacle I face in the future"

"You might be able to do that too, Saika-chan,"

"One gear, even though it always goes move forward, it can't move on its own,"

"No matter what the day we experience now, what painful moments that we felt, we never always stop, because we keep continuing to move forward no matter what happens."

"That's because we still remember them, that's because we never forget them,"

"That's why we always keep moving no matter what future ahead of us because we remember those who are in the past"

"That's why… I won't forget, nor AIKA, you or everyone…"

"So…"

"Stop trying to grieve by yourself, stop trying to be by yourself, stop saying you deserve to disappear"

"You're not forgotten, you're always remembered, to me and AIKA, even them."

"So please,"

"Don't make me forget about you, Saika!"

"And please… Don't forget about me,"

"Saika!"

His words, for the first time, had touched Saika's heart, she was stunned by his words that felt with such warmth, courage, hope, and optimism. Her tears came from her eyes once more, began to overflow through her cheeks, and fell to the ground.

And for the first time in a long time, no one has ever said to her, deep inside of her that she had forgotten for those years, she really wanted someone to say that to her.

It was very heartwarming and moving. For the first time, she began to understand that there was still someone who cares about her, who didn't want to forget about her, and someone who always said to her that it was alright for her to continue to live in this world.

Sometimes, she really wanted to scream and cried in tears of joy and happiness, but she wanted to hold it until she was alone, but that happiness in her heart had led her to be unable to hide her feelings any longer.

She soon began to wipe out her tears, and turned around, began to look at the scenery, look at the sky, and then the wind breeze came, she and Tokio could feel the wind as it was soft, and yet calm.

As she began to stroke her hair when the wind came, "You know, everything turned out as AIKA said…" she began to clench her hands behind her back straight.

"Huh?" Tokio looks confused about what she said.

"Because you are…" She smiled generously and heartwarming as she turned around her head as her eyes straight gazed at Tokio.

And the words cut as the flashback came from a year ago, she remembered what AIKA used to say to her when it comes to Tokio.

"AIKA, why do you have so many high expectations about him anyway?" Saika asked despondently.

"You mean?" AIKA confused,

"I mean, he's an idiot, there's no way he could even get the job done, so why are you still even expecting him to do something good anyway?" Saika asked as she crossed her arms.

"Well… I wonder…" AIKA said, trying to figure out the answer, much to Saika's annoyance.

"Please, just don't make me confused about this, AIKA," Saika said,

AIKA giggled at Saika's cute annoyance face, as she continued, "Does it matter, it's always the same word I've been telling you,"

"Because he's…"

As the flashback ends, her words at the end begin to sync with Saika at the present as part of her realization and admiration for Tokio, as he is...

"My Hero…"

The words of Hero came from Saika, are the same words that Saika used during his first beginning leads toward adventure into The World, and it all began on the rooftop.

But this time, her words weren't a part of her lies as part to persuade him, it was pure, real, and true from the bottom of her heart, acknowledging Tokio as not just AIKA's her, but her hero, whom he had saved from her loneliness, forgotten, pain, sadness, and grief within her heart.

It resonated with him very well, and he also witnessed the beauty, charms, and expression that came from Saika as the wind came blow calmly, the same she sees her as AIKA.

But, he realizes, even though Saika's appearance is the same as AIKA, he admits that AIKA is AIKA, and Saika is Saika, two of them are different people, and yet they still exist, embedded inside his heart, and continue to push him forth toward tomorrow beyond.

Saika turned around her body and started walking straight headed to Tokio.

She smiled gently with a heartwarming joy and happiness that became imprinted in her heart, her eyes only focused on Tokio, the one who becomes a light to her, the same as how AIKA became a light to her too.

And the next thing is how she raises her hand as she wants to handshake together with Tokio.

Tokio smiled, grinningly, and then he accepted it and began to handshake with her hands forward, to show both of them began with a determination to overcome the loss of AIKA.

Together, they would never forget her… the one who changed both of their lives and together, they will always remember her and both of them, together.

Always…

TO BE CONTINUED

A/N: Finally! I could finally finish all three chapters in a week and am so proud I could write something amazing like this... Although I must apologize if my writing couldn't meet your expectation or if there are a few issues with my grammar or anything, at least that's all I could do for now.

But I think this chapter is rather heartwarming for Saika, especially the strong of Tokio's words filled with Hope, Courage, and Determination that kept us going, because we remembered what experiences we had gone through in the past and the people whom we still remember in the past. So glad that my fanfic could find some closure toward Saika's pain and loneliness, and hopefully some of you or them might remember her again in the future. I also hope that Saika could her way to smile again in the future.

Too bad, this was not the final chapter... the next one will be the final and it would be special, you just had to wait for at least... well I can't promise that, but I definitely sure that the final chapter will be unexpected. Although the epilogue is more unexpected than you guys might think.

So... I don't when I could write the final chapter and the epilogue, I'm planning to do that, but I need to find the right time to do it.

Hope you can enjoy your day as usual... for now, peace!
